COSMIC WATCH

“Action conquers fear.” Peter Nivio Zarlenga

The Moon’s ingress into pioneering Aries (4:24 am) stokes our desire for new adventures. Luna’s conjunction with change-agent Uranus (1:24 pm) also acts to propel us into the future and potentially provides us with more of a platform to “do our own thing,” which the Aries Moon is already very receptive to doing.

“Loose cannon” Uranus is associated with individuality and non-conformity. It encourages us not to render cookie-cutter responses, so this alignment can be very refreshing and rejuvenating, especially if we are willing to be true to our authentic selves.

Later on, some possible resistance to our plans in the guise of the Moon’s square to controlling Pluto (5:08 pm) in authoritative Capricorn. This may be a good time to go inside ourselves and examine our behavior and see if there is perhaps something outworn in us that we can purge (Pluto) that will ideally add to our sense of agency or power. Moon-Pluto is thought to be a very effective cathartic/healing agent.

Hope it’s a good one!

Astrology June 22, 2011: Mars Squares Fishy Neptune, Afghanistan Withdrawal

COSMIC WATCH:

“The gift of fantasy has meant more to me than my talent for absorbing positive knowledge.” Albert Einstein, a Pisces Sun.

Fantasy Neptune, ruler of our imagination and also the urge for escape, is captaining our ‘good ship lollipop’ today in oceanic Pisces. This is because not only do we have a Neptune-ruled, dreamy Pisces Moon all day, we also have the Sun in nesting Cancer trining inspirational Neptune. And, energizer Mars in idea Gemini is squaring Neptune.

With Neptune’s illusory ray so prominent now it is possibly much easier for us to “go adrift,” so we need to be extra mindful about holding ourselves accountable with respect to whatever it is that we want to accomplish today. Although, at the same time, it may also be wise for us not to stack too much on our plates. Especially work that calls for strict attention to details or facts and figures.

Too, we do have the Pisces Moon void of course all day, so it is best to stick with old projects instead of undertaking anything new. We also are encouraged to focus our energies on more creative venues (film, photography, painting, dance, poetry). Immersion in more spiritual or mystical pursuits also serves us well now as Neptune is our portal to Divine forces.

Also, if something seems a little fishy to us today, chances are good that it is and we may need to arm ourselves with a healthy dose of skepticism! Neptune, on the shadow side, characteristically has a way of pulling the proverbial wool over our eyes. It is the planet that is formally linked with deception, either self-deception or deception from others (con men). It is also tied with scandal and weird incidents in general (especially the Mars square Neptune aspect). Often the kind of strange stuff that we hear about, that has us scratching our heads, wondering what in the world a person was thinking? Neptune’s classic calling card. 🙂

In the News: President Obama is reportedly planning on addressing the nation tonight from the White House to discuss his plan for the withdrawal of armed forces from Afghanistan, something which is quite fascinating from an astrological standpoint, as we have Mars, governing war and the military, exactly square to Neptune which tends to act as a dissolving agent (diminishing the troop strength in this instance). Neptune is, in fact, known as the “Great Dissolver.”

From research I have done over the years, too, Neptune’s ray often figures prominently in historic peace efforts and treaty signings, reflective perhaps of Neptune’s overriding desire for “oneness,” or for a unified world “without division.”

On the flip side, Mars-Neptune sometimes rachets up our sensitivities potentially climaxing in a desire to avoid the harsher/coarser realities of life at all costs. Of course, engaging in this type of avoidance or denial type behavior could backfire on us if we are not careful.

One more thing, on a lighter note. Gotta’ love this “fishy” Neptunian headline in the news today: “Chinese Find 55-foot sea monster!” Reportedly, the “sea monster” washed up on a beach in Guangdong, China. It’s decaying body weighed in at 4.5 tons. Unfortunately, the decomposition was too advanced to ID the remains.

Enjoy your Wednesday! But, be careful about drinking too much of the hallucinatory, Neptunian “Kool-Aid.” Don’t want you to have a hangover. Always trying to do our best to look out for you here. 🙂

COSMIC WATCH:

“Question reality, especially if it contradicts the evidence of your hopes and dreams.”  ~Robert Brault

We have mental Mercury in vulnerable Cancer squaring off with stern, reality kingpin Saturn in balancing Libra. This is one of those days when we may need to earnestly strive to see the glass half-full, as naysayer Saturn tends to conjure up our doubts and fears. We begin to second-guess ourselves.

Not to worry, though. There is surely a patch of blue sky with sunshine around us somewhere. We just have to find a way to align our personal orbits so that they will eventually intersect with this more inspiring outcome. With Saturn’s narrowing ray stoked, it is often helpful to step outside of ourselves in a bid to gain wider perspective.

Also, we do have the Moon steeped in mystical, nirvana-seeking Pisces, which should be a blessing for us here. The Moon in Pisces also helps to inspire compassion in us. Too, we may want to remember to use some of this on ourselves now, as part of our own self-care.

In the Northern Hemisphere, it is also the day of the magical summer solstice (1:16 pm EDT), when the empowering Sun enters nurturing, nesting Cancer, where it will stay for the next month. This ingress also serves to sensitize our nature and gets us much more in touch with our feelings, as well as our nostalgic past. Our need to put down firm, stable roots, is very vital to us now, as we seek out activities or interests that make us feel more secure, with special emphasis centered on the home and family arenas.

COSMIC WATCH:

“There are two kinds of sparks, the one that goes off with a hitch like a match, but it burns quickly. The other is the kind that needs time, but when that flame strikes… it’s eternal, don’t forget that.” Timothy Oliveira

Affectionate Venus in adaptable Gemini forms an anchoring trine to protective Saturn in partnership Libra, helping to firm up and solidify our romantic and business relationships. We are able to deal more maturely and responsibly with respect to our relationship matters now, and also are more receptive to the idea of long-term commitment. This is also an excellent day to establish healthy relationship boundaries.

The Moon also shifts from conservative Capricorn to futuristic Aquarius (7:47 am EDT) putting us in more of an inquisitive state of mind. Intellectual Mercury in impressionable Cancer is also forming an exact square to change-agent Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius, deposited in pioneering Aries. We may find that new information is coming at us fast and furious now and we may need some extra time to digest everything. Too, Mercury-Uranus can make our nerves a little more jittery as Uranus has more of a high-strung quality to it and Mercury rules the nervous system. With that said, we are also potentially more capable of flashes of brilliance and originality today as Uranus govern both genius and intuition.

Do you think you are intuitive? How about brilliant? Had any bright ideas this past week?

“If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bull.” W.C. Fields 🙂

In The News: On the eve of Mercury exactly square Uranus today, United Airlines reportedly grounded all inbound and outbound flights on Friday night for a while due to a computer problem. United airlines passengers were said to have been stranded at airports for at least five hours.  Unfortunately, on the shadow side, Mercury-Uranus has a legacy of disrupting (Uranus) communications (Mercury). Uranus also governs both the aviation industry and computers. Mercury rules travel.

Enjoy your Saturday! Hope you have some “aha” moments, but no flight delays or computer glitches. 🙂

Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius June 15, 2011 Astrology

COSMIC WATCH:

“Life is the hyphen between matter and spirit.” Augustus William Hare and Julius Charles Hare, from “Guesses at Truth, by Two Brothers” (1827)

There’s a Full Moon/Total Lunar Eclipse in “visionary” Sagittarius today (4:14 pm EDT), the sign of the hopeful archer. Sagittarius governs our beliefs and personal philosophy of life and also rules long-distance travel, the law, clergy, and higher education. This eclipse is occurring at 24 degrees of Sagittarius, smack near the Galactic Center. A Full Moon Eclipse is a time of potent release when we empty out our stale contents. It is also a time for wondrous reflection and illumination.

Eclipses often speed up events and can usher in fateful changes that permanently alter the landscape around us. Their influence is said to last up to six months. Whatever house this eclipse is falling in today, in our charts, is where we are presently engaged in a search for more meaning and where we may be needing to tweak, dismantle, or defend some of our beliefs.

“With bow and arrow carefully in tow, we aim to hunt for the higher meaning that we know is purposefully nestled within.

Our gaze is ardently fixed upon the starry firmament above, meticulously scanning for any directional clues that we pray will point the way to our very own, internal cluster of brightly lit constellations, that we sense are all merrily a twinkle now, as they expectantly and eagerly await our joyous arrival on this magical eclipse day.

Yes, we’re going home again. The mother-father, Galactic Center has kindly put down the welcome mat and thoughtfully turned on its brightest lights for us to clearly see our way back to the truth. The whole truth. Nothing but the truth. So help us God. We may even stop and rest a spell in Luckenbach, Texas, with Willie Nelson, to put 74 candles on the late Waylon Jennings’ birthday cake.” 🙂

Happy Eclipse Day!

COSMIC WATCH:

“Every production of an artist should be the expression of an adventure of his soul.” Willia, Somerset Maugha,

William Somerset Maugham

The Moon is in adventurous Sagittarius today. We are seriously toying with the idea of courageously venturing outside of our cozy backyards to explore the glorious world around us. Although, we may want to secretly abscond solo – as love goddess Venus in flirty Gemini is taking heat from manipulative Pluto in repressed Capricorn (quincunx aspect) – which might make our delicate relationships even more complex and twisted than normal.

Too, we have bold, assertive Mars in Taurus suppressed by drill sergeant Saturn in Libra (sesquiquadrate aspect). Saturn is also threatening to withhold our $200 in Monopoly money and will not let us “pass go,” if we (inevitably) break any rules today.

Yes, it may be best to sneak out alone, when the path is clear and no one else is around.

“Scotty, if you’re out there, you can beam us up anytime! The sooner, the better. Too, if you could also kindly beam down some Jim Beam. That thoughtful gesture may go far to assuage some of the massive, psychological torture of this pre-eclipse day.” 🙂

Enjoy your Tuesday!

COSMIC WATCH:

“Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.” Albert Einstein

With the Moon encapsuled in “probing” Scorpio, we go swimming in deeper waters today, carrying with us the firm conviction that sunken treasures inevitably await us, if only we are earnest enough to ferret them out. The Scorpio Moon passionately revels in sharing her most intimate secrets with us as a seductive pathway to our rejuvenation. When the Moon is in Scorpio, we are systemically freed by embracing the truth, wherever we may find it. It is also a good day to challenge ourselves to live by our own truth, which is not always something that is easy to do, but it is something that can be very rewarding and ultimately pave the way to our greatest fulfillment.

“All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered, the point is to discover them.” Galileo Galilei

Later tonight, the Moon shifts into “faraway eyes” Sagittarius (10:39 pm EDT), setting the stage for Wednesday’s spectacular “Total Lunar Eclipse.”

Enjoy your Monday!

Astrology June 12, 2011: Saturn Direct, Venus Sextile Uranus

Tags

COSMIC WATCH:

“The great thing in the world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving.” Oliver Wendell Holmes

Hopefully, too, we will be able to move in a forward direction with our lives again, with Saturn finally stationing direct in relationship Libra today.  Saturn denotes our goals and corresponding ability to put down solid foundation for ourselves. Saturn has been retrograde since late January.

Too, wherever Saturn has been retrograding in our personal horoscopes (the house position), is the area of life where we should have been reviewing or retooling things, these past few months. Now we are, hopefully, ready to journey on, with greater wisdom.

We also have love goddess Venus in curious Gemini sextiling liberating Uranus today, with Uranus deposited in thrill-seeking Aries. This is a fun aspect in which we tend to seek out more excitement in our lives. It tends to make us a little wild, both socially and romantically. We are more willing to break out of our cookie-cutter molds and try new things. We also are less afraid to defy convention in our noble quest to express ourselves more freely (Uranus).

Additionally, we have the Moon in intense Scorpio today which serves to strengthen our resolve and determination, and ignite our lusty passions, naturally readying us for encounters of the intimate kind. Too, the Scorpio Moon makes us more comfortable dealing with the complexities of life. The Moon here also gives us a perfect chance to play detective, as Scorpio energy is always good for investigation.
