Cosmic Weather:

“Real dishes break. That’s how you know they’re real.” Marty Rubin

With the empowering Sun conjunct Chiron in motivated Aries today, there’s an opportunity to become more aware of parts of our personality, or, perhaps, elements of our life, that we normally may not pay much attention to: the vulnerabilities or sensitivities; the hidden wounds. Generally, Sun-Chiron tends to promote self-honesty. Even though, initially, we could be a little wigged out by some of what may be coming up for us now, internally. Kind of like when we get the initial estimate of costs to repair our car when we bring it into the dealership. “Holey moley!” But then, after the preliminary shock wears off, we somehow manage to settle ourselves down. We then go ahead and get the ole’ clunker repaired and get it back on the road again. Sometimes, too, just asking ourselves ‘Is this a productive thought? Is it getting me closer to where I want to be?’ can often help to move us beyond our difficulties, beyond the stranglehold of the past, and propel us to take positive action toward our future.

“Worn old shoes need a good cobbler to be repaired; but worn old thoughts, only a rubbish bin!” Mehmet Murat Ildan

Famous March 22 Birthdays: William Shatner, Reese Witherspoon, James Patterson, Bob Costas.

“Know that the people who live the longest and the richest lives are looking ahead and not behind.” William Shatner

On this day in history: On March 22, 1957 “All Shook Up” single was released by Elvis Presley (b. 1/8/35). The song was also later named Billboard’s Year End number one song for 1957 (Wikipedia).

Astrologically, in his natal chart the day of its release, transiting Jupiter (the Santa Claus archetype) was retrograde at 26 degrees of Virgo or exactly conjunct his Midheaven (career house). Traditionally interpreted as a very propitious or lucky time for a person, professionally. Jupiter was also applying to a one-degree sextile to transforming Pluto in Cancer in his 8th house of shared resources, an influence favorable for augmenting finances as well as for potentially receiving material backing or other kinds of support from influential individuals.

“Ambition is a dream with a V8 engine.” Elvis Presley

Hope you enjoy your Friday! Do something fun!

Today’s Astrology January 25, 2019: Mars Trines Expansive Jupiter!

“The time for action is now. It’s never too late to do something.” Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Astrologically and metaphorically speaking, today could easily sub as the poster child for the Nike “Just do it!” slogan as we have action planet, Mars, harmoniously trined to expansive Jupiter, the planet of our dreams, goals, higher vision, and understanding. Jupiter also correlates with luck and prosperity. Whenever these two planets pair up, we’re usually more eager to act on our dreams. Often in bold ways! Perhaps even more so now as Mars and Jupiter are each transiting through their own signs, making their impact potentially more powerful. Mars is in initiating Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, and Jupiter is in visionary Sagittarius, the sign of higher education, learning, and travel. Aries and Sagittarius are also both fire signs. Fire signs are interested in direct, creative expression in the outer world. Mars in the sign of Aries can particularly be very pioneering. Highly adventurous. Very history-making! It’s always interesting to see what transpires, globally or collectively, whenever Mars rolls through Aries.  And, today, too, it’s aligned with abundant Jupiter! it could very well be that we’re on the threshold or verge of some major breakthroughs, or some very exciting discoveries!

Opportunities tend to manifest more quickly now, but they do need to be acted upon!  Now is not the time for procrastination! For those of us who may also feel less compelled to tackle any big stuff, at the moment, we still could take some kind of action now to further us along on our path.

“There are two kinds of people. One kind, you can just tell by looking at them at what point they congealed into their final selves. It might be a very nice self, but you know you can expect no more surprises from it. Whereas, the other kind keep moving, changing… They are fluid. They keep moving forward and making new trysts with life, and the motion of it keeps them young. In my opinion, they are the only people who are still alive. You must be constantly on your guard against congealing.” Gail Godwin

Today is also excellent potentially for business expansion, negotiations, publishing, promotions, educational matters, travel planning, and involvement in sports. Mars governs sports and athletics, and when it’s aligned with enthusiastic Jupiter there can be an extra strong desire to break or set performance records. One other thing about Mars-Jupiter energy: When it’s taken to the extreme, it often becomes the epitome of fanaticism! Of course, in sports, fanaticism is probably an advantage, at least to a degree, because with it we’re likely more driven to win or succeed. But, when it comes to fanaticism in our daily lives, that’s another story, and also where things can get a whole lot dicier or complicated! Especially with respect to the topics of religion and politics. Both of those hot button areas are ruled by the planet Jupiter.

The Moon, meanwhile, is also in relationship Libra today endowing us with extra finesse and diplomacy for dealing with others. It’s also a nice influence for romance and socializing! “If I had a flower for every time I thought of you…I could walk through my garden forever.” Alfred Tennyson

Enjoy your day! Just do it! 🙂

Today’s Astrology January 21, 2019: Lunar Eclipse in Leo, Mars Square Saturn

“I am my own experiment. I am my own work of art.” Madonna

Today’s Astrology:

The Lunar Eclipse in self-expressive Leo the Lion (12:16 am) illuminates our urge to be creative, to shine in our own special way. With the Sun in opposing Aquarius we’re also seeking to integrate that uniqueness back into the collective in a bid to make the singular contribution that only we can make. With individualistic Uranus closely squaring the eclipse point, there’s also an increased desire for freedom from convention or cultural dictates. “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference (Uranus) that you have lived and lived well.”  Ralph Waldo Emerson

Today, energizing Mars in pioneering Aries also encounters some formidable resistance resulting from its square aspect to taskmaster Saturn in Capricorn (6:16 am). Slowing down and approaching matters more carefully and thoroughly may be in the cards now, especially if we’re getting clear indications that something’s amiss. We also may need to simply disengage ourselves from some projects, for a while, and decide later, when we’re perhaps more inspired, what our next power moves should be.

*All times EST.

The last time that pioneering Mars in Aries squared Saturn in Capricorn, the sign of regulations and government, was back in July of 1990, forming an exact square on July 1st. On that very same day, East and West Germany merged their economies, a very historic event, as that was the first time ever that a capitalist and socialist economy had suddenly become one. Of course, since something like this had never happened before, it took a good while to get all the procedural kinks worked out. Kinda what you’d expect with the more challenging Mars-Saturn imprint.

Interestingly, China’s annual economic growth rate was reported today to be the slowest since 1990, or the last time that Saturn was in the sign of Capricorn. (Wall Street Journal)

Famous January 21 Birthdays: Geena Davis, Placido Domingo, Grigori Rasputin, Jack Nicklaus, Christian Dior.

Happy Supermoon Blessings to you! Let your light shine bright!

“If you’re always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.” Maya Angelou

The waxing Moon is wrapping up its stay in individualistic Aquarius today, shifting into the compassionate sign of Pisces at 2:44 pm. The Moon’s last aspect in Aquarius is a sextile to Uranus at 11:53 am, which is also the planetary ruler of Aquarius. Moon-Uranus aspects can coincide with stimulating out of the ordinary encounters. They can also poise us to want to make new alterations or changes in our home environment or personal lives. The dreamy, escapist Pisces Moon squares Venus in flirtatious Sagittarius this evening, at 8:09 pm, suggesting an increased need for romance or fun.

Famous Birthdays January 9: Kate Middleton, Richard Nixon, Dave Matthews, Bob Denver, Bart Starr

“The finest steel has to go through the hottest fire.” Richard Nixon

This Day in History: On January 9, 2007 Apple CEO Steve Jobs announces the iPhone. In the sky that day, pioneering Mars was in adventurous, communicative Sagittarius at 24 degrees of that sign, exactly trining manifesting, disciplined Saturn at 24 degrees of creative Leo. Flowing Mars-Saturn aspects often indicate positive outcomes through the application of strength and determination. It is also a time when we can often capitalize on our experience and know-how. Enthusiastic Sagittarius is additionally an excellent sign for marketing new wares to a broad, international market.  At the end of the day, I think we all would agree that the iPhone has had a pretty good run. Definitely a Mars-Saturn “worldly” success story! Needless to say, it revolutionized (Mars in Sadge) telecommunications! 🙂 In Steve Job’s natal chart he has a trailblazing Moon in Aries with expansive, fortuitous Jupiter closely conjunct tech giant Uranus in the sign of Cancer. Jupiter-Uranus aspects are associated with sudden breakthroughs and genius. Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury and is linked with intuition.

Hope you have a stimulating, extraordinary day!

“It is in moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.” Tony Robbins

Mercury in Capricorn squares Mars in Aries:

We may feel more pressured or primed (Mars) to make decisions (Mercury) today. Including courageous, bold ones! Motivator Mars, the planet which deals with how we assert ourselves, is newly installed in self-confident, trailblazing Aries, the sign that it rules. Here, it is very fast-acting and very eager for new beginnings. Especially since it’s the start of a brand new year.

Thinker Mercury meanwhile, in professionally ambitious Capricorn, cognitively gets Mars enthusiastic drive, desire, and spirit to forge ahead (Capricorn is also an enterprising cardinal sign). Mercury in Saturn-ruled Capricorn, however, is wired to operate much more systematically or methodically, with a definite plan in hand, that carefully showcases all his neatly crossed t’s and i’s circumspectly dotted.

So, what to do to avert a potential ‘planetary shutdown’ between Mercury and Mars? 🙂

A winning solution here seems to be to find a way to combine the best attributes of each of these planets: When rendering any decisions, have a clear, detailed vision in your back pocket of where it is you want to go. Coupled with a realistic analytical assessment of the bevy of resources at your disposal (Mercury in Capricorn). Be willing to also step outside of your comfort zone and be adventurous! Make decisions that stretch your capacity and force you to grow (Mars in Aries).

Additionally, it is wise to keep in mind now that decisions made from a place of integrity inside ourselves will always leave us with a feeling of peace that we are on the right track. “A lot of the conflict you have in your life exists simply because you’re not living in alignment; you’re not be being true to yourself.” Steve Maraboli.

Possible Shadow sides of Mercury Square Mars: Displaying a “win at all costs mentality” that may ride roughshod over the views or opinions of others. Grandstanding. Throwing temper tantrums. Being argumentative. Letting our ego run the show. Refusing to collaborate. In other words, a fairly typical day in the brand new Congress on Capitol Hill! 🙂

Famous People with Mercury square Mars in their natal charts: Oprah Winfrey, Demi Moore, Randy Travis, Bjorn Borg, Tina Turner.

Famous Birthdays January 8: Elvis Presley, Stephen Hawking, David Bowie, R. Kelly, Kim Jong-un, Britton Buchanan.

“Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.” Stephen Hawking

Hope it’s a great day for you, and that your destiny is shaped and supported in a positive way! I’ve missed you!

COSMIC WATCH:

With the Moon in “grounded” Taurus all day, it is an excellent time to examine how we can personally center our daily lives more fully around our values, which Taurus governs. When we live in sync with our values we are better able to express who we are, as well as attract to us what we need to flourish and prosper. The Moon’s flowing trine to insightful Pluto (8:19 am EST) can also provide extra clarity on what we may need to change or transmute in order to cultivate and display our own authenticity. Later, the Moon’s trine to the resourceful Capricorn Sun (7:44 pm EST) is a potent stimulus for creative expressions of personal power and for any long-term planning.

COSMIC WATCH:

Our light begins to shine brighter with the Sun’s entrance into magnanimous Leo (12:12 am EDT) which puts a focus on being creative, self-confident, and fully open to experiencing joy.

The Leo Sun’s quinqunx to veiled Neptune, however, does suggest the need for extra vigilance today, as some issues could be obscured or clouded. Mercury’s semisquare to naysayer Saturn may also find us wrangling with a few detractors on our path.

The Moon’s ingress into sensual Taurus (12:59 am EDT) puts before us all manner of Earth’s delicious pleasures. The Moon’s monthly conjunction with fortuitous Jupiter (5:20 pm EDT) sweetens the pot even more.

COSMIC WATCH:

“Enthusiasm is the energy and force that builds literal momentum of the human soul and mind.” Bryant H. McGill

Final day for the Aries Moon. An energizing and galvanizing lunar position that supplies us with lots of momentum for getting things done. This is especially the case early and late in the day when we have the Moon sextiling enterprising Mars in clever Gemini (8:46 am EDT) and then trining “thinker” Mercury in sunny Leo (5:36 pm EDT). Both of those aspects support  our communication, discussion and decision-making efforts. We may also be waxing more eloquently now, as Mercury in Leo can be quite the orator, especially when courted by a passionate Aries Moon. Too, Moon-Mercury is a perfect time to give voice to our feelings and for speaking or writing about what is in our heart.

Enjoy your Friday!
