Cosmic Weather:

The Moon is still in enterprising Aries and in her Waxing Gibbous phase, for most of the day, with 93% illumination. Luna will enter slow, deliberate Taurus, later tonight (at 9:18 pm). We also have an extended eclipse in Taurus on Friday. Fascinatingly, the Beaver Full Moon Lunar Eclipse then will be the longest of the century! (It will last 3 hours, 28 minutes, and 23 seconds.) Native Americans reportedly named the first Full Moon of November the Beaver Moon because this is the time beavers would be most active in the preparation for winter. It was also the time to set traps before the swamps froze to ensure a good supply of furs for the winter.

The probing Scorpio Sun’s sextile to transformational Pluto (4:01 pm) today is thought to be an excellent influence for deepening our perspective, often offering us more insight into our own inner workings and the motivations of others. It’s also compatible with renovation projects. It can additionally be a boon for research matters or investigations, including helping to solve or crack old mysteries. Kind of an interesting tie-in here, too, with this aspect, is a story on Alzheimer’s that is trending on Twitter this morning. The Telegraph is reporting: “A vaccine against Alzheimer’s disease could be on the horizon after scientists carried out successful trials in animals. Researchers from the US and Germany were able to reverse memory loss in mice and are keen to move quickly to human trials.” It is estimated that 1 in 9 people age 65 and older have the disease.

*All times EST

Born On This Day: African-American musician, teacher, and bandleader W.C. Handy, in 1873, in Florence, Alabama. He referred to himself as “Father of the Blues.” Handy was one of the most influential songwriters in the United States. He did not create the blues genre but was the first to publish music in the blues form (Delta blues), thereby taking the blues from a regional music style with a limited audience to a new level of popularity. (Wikipedia) Handy once mused: “Life is like a trumpet. If you don’t put anything into it, you don’t get anything out.”

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Cosmic Weather:

“One of the things that we admire about porcelain is its delicate fragility. We should learn to appreciate the same in people.” Andrew Davenport

With so much uncertainty and disruption presently swirling around us, it’s pretty easy to become emotionally overwhelmed or to feel a bit more anxious, in general, about our daily lives. That’s why it’s also perhaps more important than ever to treat ourselves and others with special kid gloves now, if we can, which is what the more “humanistic” Mars-Neptune energy, today, ideally helps us to achieve.

This more “ego-subduing” influence generally raises our levels of sensitivity, caring, and compassion. It can also serve to remind us that, no matter what, “we’re all in this together,” (Neptune in Pisces) – even though we may also have to (ironically) erect some boundaries between ourselves and others temporarily now (Mars in Capricorn), so as to keep those bonds intact in the future.

Mars-Neptune energy often marks a time when we’re called upon to make personal sacrifices for the welfare of others or the collective.

This more “otherworldly” aspect can also be positive for such things as self-reflection, meditation, yoga, or breathwork.

Too, the “permeable” Pisces Sun’s sextile to “controlling” Pluto, in structuring Capricorn, once again, seems to be spotlighting for us now, among other things, an ever-growing awareness or consensus of the need to take more extreme measures to contain the spread of Covid-19 (Pisces rules viruses) and how these overtures are dramatically working to reshape (Pluto) our world, at least in the short-term.

On the plus side, it’s also an excellent planetary influence for retooling the approaches that we take for dealing with issues as it can provide us with greater clarity or insight.

Also, expansive Jupiter’s applying conjunction to Pluto continues to showcase the enormous volume of resources and actions that are being marshaled by many governments and businesses (Capricorn) and other entities, such as hospitals (Pisces) to deal with all the ramifications of this generational health crisis.

On a a more personal level, Sun-Pluto energy can mark a time of profound inner renewal. It’s also a great day for any purging, recycling, or refurbishing projects.

“We can’t be afraid of change. You may feel very secure in the pond that you are in, but if you never venture out of it, you will never know that there is such a thing as an ocean, a sea. Holding onto something that is good for you now, may be the very reason why you don’t have something better.” C. Joybell C.

Hope it’s a good one! Be safe!

Astrology March 5, 2015: A Full Moon in “Purifying” Virgo

“There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.” Ernest Hemingway

COSMIC WATCH:

Full Moon

A Full Moon in “purifying” Virgo, today (1:05 pm), the sign of health and work, paves the way for self-improvement projects, makeovers, general healing, dietary changes, detox efforts, de-cluttering, recycling, becoming better organized, tidying things up. Also, some things that perhaps managed to elude our awareness before, are now getting ready to come into full view of our consciousness. Too, the impact of what is about to be revealed, could be something that’s very powerful for us, in a galvanizing way, especially since we have so many other potent, illuminating aspects occurring at this same time – aspects that sort of all piggy back on each other, including the “opportunity-laden” Jupiter Uranus trine, and the seventh and last installment of the “game-changing” Uranus and Pluto square, which I’ll be discussing more about, in an upcoming blog.

The “keeping it real” Virgo Full Moon is also excellent for providing us with an accurate, no-nonsense assessment of what’s really going on around us – a nice complement to the more “idealistic, otherworldly” Sun in Pisces influence, which can sometimes find us getting too caught up, or lost, in our pipe dreams or fantasies. The Virgo Moon also symbolizing “the voice of reason”, while the Pisces Sun represents, “the voice of our intuition,” which some also view as the “voice of Spirit” operating within us. With this lunation, we’re seeking to balance and integrate both of these voices, in our lives.

This Full Moon’s trine to “transforming” Pluto also directs us to confidently step into our own power, while simultaneously serving to ignite our heart’s passions. Too, with our passions on the rise, there’s also possibly more of a feeling now that we’re truly on the way to fulfilling our life’s purpose, or special destiny, especially since passion is something that is often equated with leading us to our soul’s, or higher self’s, true calling. Included in all of this here, too, is the possibility of a very deep, if not sacred sense now, of our own renewal, especially on an emotional level; coupled with this may also be a very strong desire to focus firmly on the tasks ahead. There may also be an increased willingness to release, with greater ease and serenity now, those things that are no longer serving us on our journey. Sometimes, too, just letting go of an attitude can be the thing that begins to turn our life around, in a major way. Writer Caroline Myss also suggests that we eliminate five words from our vocabulary, when we’re ready to move on: blame, deserve, guilt, fair, and fault. She says that this is because these five words “often make it easier for us to fall into negative emotional patterns.”

“I realize there’s something incredibly honest about trees in winter, how they’re experts at letting things go.” Jeffrey McDaniel

This Full Moon may also put more of a spotlight on the following areas: joint financial matters, investments, taxes, insurance, wills and estates, research or investigation. This energy also favors archeological digs, therapy, deep tissue massage, adopting a new fitness regime, implementing more quality control measures at work, making repairs, improving or perfecting a craft, revising job search strategies, updating resumes, meeting with employment counselors.

astrology for november 3 2014, fixing what's broken, horoscope november 3 2014, moon enters aries, reclaiming our power, Sun sextile Pluto, venus quinqunx Uranus, venus trine chiron, World Trade Center One reopens

“Never judge yourself so harshly that you never arise from the ashes of life.” Shawntel Jefferson

COSMIC WATCH:

The ”illuminating” Sun sextiles “renewing” Pluto, today. An aspect that can help us to “reclaim our power.” Also, this energy is excellent for fixing what’s broken or for taking corrective measures. I’m personally excited about this influence because my car has been under recall for a faulty ignition switch and finally, after months of waiting, I have an appointment with the dealership to get it repaired. Too, when we have a situation that is in need of correction, yet a fix isn’t made in a timely manner, the problematic circumstance or condition can often end up being a slow, subtle drain on our life force, and, sometimes, we may not even be consciously aware of this leakage, until later on, when the matter has been resolved and we then feel a sudden surge in our energy level. Sun-Pluto is also very good for “waking us up” to what’s going on, in the deeper regions of our psyche.

Venus also trines Chiron and quinqunxes Uranus. Our empathy for others’ struggles may increase (Chiron), while, at the same time, we may be craving more freedom or excitement (Uranus) in our relationships or social life.

The Moon also leaves “retiring” Pisces, around midday (1:53 pm EST), and shifts into “pioneering” Aries. Always a time of the month when we’re ready to take action on our desires. “Whatever you do will be insignificant, but it is very important that you do it.” Mahatma Gandhi

Question for Today: What is one small step that you can take, today, that will create long-term positive consequences?

In the News: New York’s “One World Trade Center” re-opens for business, 13 years after the original towers were destroyed in the September 11 attacks (BBC.com).

Famous November 3 Birthdays: Charles Bronson, Roseanne Barr, Dennis Miller, Elizabeth Smart, Larry Holmes.

“I’m not going to vacuum ’til Sears makes one you can ride on.” Roseanne Barr 🙂

Enjoy your Monday! Hope it’s a great week for you.

Don’t limit yourself to being a mere fountain when you can contain an ocean.” Vera Nazarian

The Sun’s sextile to “probing” Pluto today encourages us to peel back the layers and go deeper into our experiences in a quest to unearth the buried treasure that is patiently awaiting us at our sacred core. The void-of-course Moon in “rock solid” Taurus also instills us with a renewed appreciation for those structures around us that are enduring and stable. “They who reach down into the depths of life where, in the stillness, the voice of God is heard, have the stabilizing power which carries them poised and serene through the hurricane of difficulties.” Spencer W. Kimball

COSMIC WATCH:

What may have been submerged in the depths, floats to the surface now with the Sun’s sextile to “penetrating” Pluto. This is a period when digging and probing may yield big results. Additionally, Sun-Pluto can be very transforming and revitalizing. The Moon also continues in “deliberate, slow-moving” Taurus, during the day, helping us to stay focused and productive. Tonight, Luna’s shift into “changeable” Gemini (10:27 pm EST) tends to disperse our attention. “The person who does not scatter the morning dew will not comb gray hairs.” Hunter S. Thompson

COSMIC WEATHER:

“Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.” Oprah Winfrey

Opportunistic Jupiter squares passionate Pluto (3:41 pm EST): Doing what we are passionate about can be very freeing for us. New doors could suddenly open up to us if we focus and harness our energies wisely. Purging ourselves of what is outworn, also allows us to move forward to a brighter future. (Pluto rules the principle of elimination.) Also, a great day for refurbishing, or giving things “new life.”

Shadow side of Jupiter-Pluto: Becoming too obsessed with a course of action. Desire for manipulation and control at all costs. Power-hungry. Ruthlessness, or expression of extreme forms of behavior.

Sun/Mercury sextile Pluto: Transforming or regenerating circumstances. Penetrating insights. “Aha” moments.  What was previously hidden or disguised, is gloriously revealed. (Pluto rules secrets and the subconscious realm).

Moon in Sagittarius: Fires up our sense of wonderment and adventure. We also want to express and act upon our higher beliefs and convictions.

Shadow side of Sadge Moon: Fanaticism. Too preachy or boastful. Extravagance (which Pluto will likely do combat with today).

Famous Birthdays February 25th: Bob Schieffer (74), Sally Jesse Raphael (76), George Harrison (would have been 68)

“We were talking about the space between us all and the people who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion. Never glimpse the truth – then it’s far too late when they pass away.” George Harrison
