What may have been submerged in the depths, floats to the surface now with the Sun’s sextile to “penetrating” Pluto. This is a period when digging and probing may yield big results. Additionally, Sun-Pluto can be very transforming and revitalizing. The Moon also continues in “deliberate, slow-moving” Taurus, during the day, helping us to stay focused and productive. Tonight, Luna’s shift into “changeable” Gemini (10:27 pm EST) tends to disperse our attention. “The person who does not scatter the morning dew will not comb gray hairs.”Hunter S. Thompson

With motivator Mars, in resourceful Virgo, forming a 135-degree linkup with expansive Jupiter, in practical Taurus, we can get a lot accomplished today. Although, with the Moon also in Virgo, it behooves us to focus our efforts and perfect our skills instead of going off in too many directions, which is sometimes the risk with Mars-Jupiter. We may also want to be more conservative with our expenditures and avoid any impulse buying. Too, it can be very tempting to overspend now being that we are in the thick of the holiday-shopping season.

Today’s Affirmation: I am a good steward of my resources and all that I need or desire generously flows to me.
In the News: After nearly nine years, the U.S. formally ended its mission in Iraq on Thursday and prepared to leave the country. Fewer than 200 persons will reportedly stay on in Iraq as part of a diplomatic mission.
Astrologically, the Iraq War first began with Uranus, the planet of change and revolution, at the zero degree mark of vague, elusive Pisces, and supposedly the reason for going into the country was to locate weapons of mass destruction, which were never found. Now, with liberating Uranus stationing direct at the 0 degree mark of assertive Aries, which is also, ironically, the sign of war and the military, the U.S. military is finally leaving that country. Seems rather symbolic to me that the U.S. combat forces stayed in Iraq the entire time that Uranus was in dissolving, disintegrating Pisces, a sign that is often more problematic and hazy to navigate. Too, the political landscape and daily life in Iraq has greatly changed, the past nine years (Uranus), and Saddam Hussein‘s regime is no more.
Sadly, the Iraq war has claimed more than 4,500 American soldiers’ lives, in addition to tens of thousands of casualties, at a cost of over $800 billion (from wsj.com).

The Moon is in practical, utilitarian Capricorn all day empowering us to “get it done.” Perhaps a good day for rolling up our shirt sleeves and tackling all those mundane projects that we have been putting off. The focused Capricorn Moon helps to endow us with more of a sense of duty and discipline. It can also serve to rocket our ambitions.
The Moon’s square to limiting Saturn in balancing Libra (2:53 pm EDT) may also find us wanting to discard whatever is non-essential in our lives. Although we may find that tossing aside or shrugging off aspects on the relationship front could get a little messy or complicated. We may want to strive for cooperation and understanding instead. We may also need to detach from our sensitivities and not take any criticism to heart. Or, for that matter, not dish any out. The Moon-Saturn energy tends to be more separatist in nature and can find us defensively erecting boundaries in a bid to wall others out. Sometimes we can do this, too, in the guise of biting or hurtful remarks.

The day kicks off with the Moon still deposited in drama queen Leo then shifts into worker bee Virgo (3:34 pm EDT) at which time our personal efficiency level gets boosted up a notch, as Virgo tends to be very organized and analytical. The Virgo Moon’s lucky trine to generous, optimistic Jupiter in material Taurus (4:43 on EDT) also bodes well for money and possession matters.
We may also find that our ability for clear thinking is potentially enhanced today with intellectual Mercury in Gemini’s trine to astute Saturn in balanced Libra. This is an excellent day for mental concentration, long-term planning, budget discussions, working on detailed reports, matters of commitment, and gaining influential support or backing (Saturn) for our ideas (Mercury).
Anchoring Saturn tends to steady or stabilize our thinking and confers upon us practical know-how based upon our experience. It can also make us much more disciplined (Saturn). Too, we are more apt choose our words (Mercury) more wisely (Saturn). This is a positive time to discuss serious (Saturn) issues, especially related to our goals. Also, this is a good day to seek out professional advice or counseling.
Note: The Moon is void-of-course from 11:28 am EDT until 3:34 pm EDT. During that time span it is best to attend to old matters versus starting anything new.
Famous Birthdays June 7th: Late Dean Martin (94), Prince (53). BTW, Prince has a fascinating horoscope with a very strong “Pluto” tone to it, which may help to explain why he has always been more of a mystery to figure out. (Pluto can be very secretive). Also, it sheds light on his intensity.
Prince has his Pluto in entertainment Leo at 29 degrees exactly conjunct his 10th house of career (the highest point in his chart). He also has a Pluto-ruled Scorpio Ascendant (how the world sees him), and his restless Gemini Sun (power source) is exactly conjunct his 8th house cusp of other people’s resources (also the house of sex), which is the natural house of Pluto.
Pluto conjunct the authoritative 10th house often denotes the potential for a “power complex,” as Pluto governs the urge for power and or control. Pluto also represents the masses, and individuals with Pluto here often rise to positions whereby they can impact a large number of people (10th house is also linked with an individual’s reputation and the world at large).
Pluto also denotes our passions and obsessions and when it is on the professional house there can be an intense pursuit of career matters, sometimes to the exclusion of everything else. The person may also have the feeling that they are “fated” for a certain role. There is also often a desire to transform or radically reshape the world in some way, usually in conjunction with career, as Pluto represents the rebirth factor. Of course, Prince has done just that through his incredible music and unique theatrics (Leo). Prince also has his artistic Venus in sensual Taurus (ruling the voice) aligned with both Uranus (genius) and Neptune (fantasy). Hope Prince has a wonderful birthday. Wonder if he’ll be partying tonight? Like it’s 1999? Do you think? Gotta’ believe that he will. 🙂
