COSMIC WATCH:

With “love goddess” Venus moving into “direct” Aries, we are potentially more confident in our ability to get on board with our desires. That confidence boost, in turn, possibly helps to yield even more passion and enthusiasm for what we want.  Sort of like what occurs when we stoke a fire.

Too, what usually helps us to ultimately score a home run – especially when Venus is here in the “me-first” sign of the zodiac – is being able to display a genuine willingness to help others get their own needs met as well. Assure them that we are not mainly interested in furthering our own agenda, which is sometimes a possible shadow manifestation of Venus in Aries.

Also, relationship experts tell us that one of the key ingredients that all relationships need to thrive, long-term, is a spirit of reciprocity, or give and take.

The Moon’s entrance into “meticulous” Virgo today (12:33 pm) also may provide us with the resourcefulness and thoroughness to successfully attend to whatever is on our plate.

It also seems that a part of self-mastery is an ability to fully immerse ourselves into the minutia.

With motivator Mars, in resourceful Virgo, forming a 135-degree linkup with expansive Jupiter, in practical Taurus, we can get a lot accomplished today. Although, with the Moon also in Virgo, it behooves us to focus our efforts and perfect our skills instead of going off in too many directions, which is sometimes the risk with Mars-Jupiter. We may also want to be more conservative with our expenditures and avoid any impulse buying. Too, it can be very tempting to overspend now being that we are in the thick of the holiday-shopping season.

In the News: After nearly nine years, the U.S. formally ended its mission in Iraq on Thursday and prepared to leave the country. Fewer than 200 persons will reportedly stay on in Iraq as part of a diplomatic mission.

Astrologically, the Iraq War first began with Uranus, the planet of change and revolution, at the zero degree mark of vague, elusive Pisces, and supposedly the reason for going into the country was to locate weapons of mass destruction, which were never found. Now, with liberating Uranus stationing direct at the 0 degree mark of assertive Aries, which is also, ironically, the sign of war and the military, the U.S. military is finally leaving that country. Seems rather symbolic to me that the U.S. combat forces stayed in Iraq the entire time that Uranus was in dissolving, disintegrating Pisces, a sign that is often more problematic and hazy to navigate. Too, the political  landscape and daily life in Iraq has greatly changed, the past nine years (Uranus), and Saddam Hussein‘s regime is no more.

Sadly, the Iraq war has claimed more than 4,500 American soldiers’ lives, in addition to tens of thousands of casualties, at a cost of over $800 billion (from wsj.com).

Interesting astrological fact: Mick Jagger and Bill Clinton are both proud Leo Suns, with their Moons in earthy, sensual Taurus. See any similarity between the two of them in terms of their personality and behavior? Remember Bill’s saxophone performance on the Arsenio Hall Show several years ago? Any shades of Mick there? 🙂

Well, the “night owl” Moon is back in Venus-ruled Taurus today, so this is a time when we may want to indulge our senses and pamper ourselves. The Taurus Moon is fond of “hedonistic” pleasures. At the same time, it is also practical and resourceful. (Taurus rules money and possessions.)

The Moon also trines “problem-solving” Pluto (10:48 am EDT), so it appears that there is very little that we cannot do today, if we but only put our minds to it and also stay cooperative (sometimes with Pluto, we try to “run the show”). Too, we still have Mick’s “start-me-up” Aries energy beaming down upon us (Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Uranus in Aries).

Later on, the “sweet” Taurus Moon forms a sexy sextile to relationship Venus (7:03 pm EDT). Definitely a time when we will want to be making a “love connection.” Power of attraction Venus helps us attract the “reality we desire.”

Famous Birthdays April 5: Colin Powell (74), late Betty Davis (103). BTW, Betty had her pioneering Aries Sun exactly square to her natal Uranus in professional Capricorn, helping to make her a “one of a kind” original.

In the News: With the Moon in “money-minded” Taurus trining “purging” Pluto, U.S. House Republicans today proposed a budget for the next fiscal year that would reportedly spend $3.53 trillion, $179 billion dollars less then the plan put forth by President Obama. It would also supposedly balance the budget by 2015. (WSJ.com) “Bulldozing” Pluto in action? Too, Pluto tends towards “extremism.”
