Cosmic Weather:

“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” – Lao Tzu

This Monday morning, the “Cosmic Lovers” are aligned in the sky, ideally boding well for romance or matters of the heart as well as socializing and endeavors that require cooperation or points of agreement. With Mars Rx, it is also possible that people or situations from our past somehow re-enter the picture now.

Too, with Mars in its retro phase, we may find that we are not quite as direct or forward as we normally might be, although we may still feel inside us a plethora of competitive and creative juices converging at this time.

Waning Luna will also remain in self-expressive Leo all day, which should lend more of a supportive portal for the manifestation of this more harmonious trine energy. Too, with this alignment occurring in air signs, we may feel a bit of an intellectual lift throughout the day.

(Venus in Aquarius Trine Mars Rx in Gemini, 10:22 am. Waning Moon in Leo Quincunx Sun in Capricorn, 12:25 pm.)

*All times EST

On This Day in History:  On January 9, 2007, Steve Jobs announced the first iPhone at the Macworld convention, receiving substantial media attention. Jobs announced that the first iPhone would be released later that year. On June 29, 2007, the first iPhone was released. (Wikipedia)

Astrologically, on 1/09/2007, communicator Mercury was in a tight conjunction with the empowering Sun in corporate Capricorn – an aspect that we also just had, this past weekend – and a time when we tend to be privy to important messages or communiques that can impact or shape our world in meaningful ways. Expansive Jupiter in futuristic Sagittarius was also applying (2 degrees) to an exact square to innovative Uranus, ruling technology – an aspect that I have frequently mentioned before here that is often thought to be linked with elements of genius (Uranus is the higher octave of intellectual Mercury). Jupiter’s activated ray also tends to extend the size and scope of things. Additionally, pioneering Mars in Sagittarius had also just completed an exact trine to structuring Saturn in creative Leo – suggesting a payback after a period of hard work.

“An iPod, a phone, an internet mobile communicator… these are NOT three separate devices! And we are calling it iPhone! Today Apple is going to reinvent the phone. And here it is.” – Steve Jobs

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Cosmic Weather:

“The distance between us grows with each passing minute. Will he take my arm again, or will I have to take his?” – Stephanie Perkins, Lola and the Boy Next Door

Venus in Capricorn Squares Chiron Rx in Aries (11:22 am): This aspect may find us reliving old relationship wounds, including possibly rehashing the sting of rejection by lovers or maybe fallouts with workmates, which could result in, among other things, more of a hesitancy to want to commit. Too, another possibility is that we may be feeling unworthy or pressured because we perceive that we have not really lived up to our own expectations for ourselves. Of course, we can also choose to put a more positive spin on things here by focusing, perhaps, on what we are grateful for, including lessons learned.

Venus in Capricorn Quincunx Mars Rx in Gemini (12:36 pm): This aspect suggests some possible awkwardness going after what we want. It could be, too, that our timing may be off or that we are trying too hard.

Mars Rx in Gemini Sextile Chiron Rx in Aries (5:37 pm): This helps us to acknowledge our missteps or insecurities and activates us to want to do something about them so that we can move on. Talking about things may also be healing now.

“I have come to believe over and over again that what is most important to me must be spoken, made verbal, and shared, even at the risk of having it bruised or misunderstood.” – Audre Lord

On This Day in History: On December 19, 1843, the revered classic “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens is published.

Among the astrological aspects, of that day: expansive Jupiter – commonly regarded as the goodwill ambassador – and also the planet which governs literature and publishing, was conjunct Neptune, the planet of imagination, in altruistic, collective-minded Aquarius, an aspect that can also appreciably magnify our idealism. Both were also sextile to the empowering Sun in the Jupiter-ruled sign of Sagittarius; Sadge rules our beliefs and convictions, as well as our sense of ethics or morality. The Sun-Jupiter sextile is also particularly favorable for publishing; it can also help a matter to have a broader impact.

“Reflect upon your present blessings—of which every man has many—not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.” – Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Cosmic Weather:

“Reciprocity is a deep instinct; it is the basic currency of social life.” Jonathan Haidt

Venus in Aries sextiles Mars in Gemini (7:17 am) – A very nice supportive aspect for expressing affection, fostering a harmonious sense of give-and-take. Too, we may find that our personal plans get a positive shot in the arm. Also, helps to boost creativity, sex appeal!

Waning Luna, now in her Last Quarter, is also nestled in non-conforming Aquarius. We are more willing to embrace the experimental. Punch holes in our comfort zones.

Moon sextile Sun in Aries (4:39 pm) – Helps to assuage inner conflicts. Our sense of purpose and heart are both in it together. Involvement in group activities or social causes can be very renewing.

Moon trine Mars in Gemini (9:55 pm) – A good fit for tackling physical projects. More energizing emotionally.

Numerologically, we are looking at a double-decker today (4/6/2021): Double sixes! Perfect tie-in to the flowing Venus-Mars energy that the Universe is lovingly showering upon us now. The number six, which in the Tarot represents The Lovers card, is regarded as the most romantic of all numbers. It’s also auspicious for healing, nurturing, family matters, and generating domestic bliss!

*All times EDT
On This Day in History:
On April 6, 1896, the first modern Summer Olympic Games open in Athens, Greece. The games attracted just 245 competitors, of whom more than 200 were Greek, and only 14 countries were represented. Nevertheless, no international events of this magnitude had been organized before. Female athletes were not allowed to compete, though one woman, Stamata Revithi, ran the marathon course on her own, saying “If the committee doesn’t let me compete, I will go after them regardless.” About 100,000 people attended the opening of the games.  (Wikipedia)
Astrologically, that day, when the Games kicked off, “athletic” Mars was in collective-minded Aquarius and exactly trining wounded healer Chiron in more socially aware Libra. The pioneering Aries Sun was also separating from an exact sextile to envisioning Neptune in limb, versatile Gemini, an influence that can inspire us to creatively chase our dreams. Or maybe even jump after them: American athlete James Connolly Olympic became the first modern Olympic champion when he won the triple jump.
Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Aretha Franklin records Respect, big-picture thinking, daily astrology, love, Mercury conjunct Jupiter, numerology, relationships

Cosmic Weather:

“Science does a great job at reducing variables until they are small enough to be understood, but we aren’t doing a great job at reassembling the picture once it has been broken down into a thousand pieces.” – Katy Bowman

Mercury Rx conjuncts Jupiter in Aquarius (4:40 pm). There’s more of a flair or capacity for big-picture thinking, generating innovative ideas, or stretching our perspectives now (even if some things might need to be revised later). Mercury/Jupiter typically represents the “glass is half full” mindset, which can actually help to shift things around for us in a positive way by harnessing the brain’s power of expectation.

The Waxing Moon also rockets into “start-me-up” Aries (10:54 am). We are naturally primed now for new beginnings and endeavors that require self-assertion or taking personal initiative.

Numerologically, it’s a “5” and “3” day, suggesting there’s a plethora of curiosity and creativity circulating around. Also, an element of playfulness.

*All times EST

On This Day in History: On February 14, 1967, Aretha Franklin recorded “Respect” (Billboard Song of the Year 1967).

“Respect” is a song originally released by American singer-songwriter Otis Redding in 1965. The song became a signature hit for Aretha Franklin in 1967. The music in the two versions is significantly different. Redding’s version is a plea from a desperate man, who will give his woman anything she wants. He won’t care if she does him wrong, as long as he gets his due respect when he brings money home. However, Franklin’s version is a declaration from a strong, confident woman, who knows that she has everything her man wants. She never does him wrong, and demands his “respect”. Franklin’s version adds the “R-E-S-P-E-C-T” chorus and the backup singers’ refrain of “Sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me…”. Aretha Franklin’s interpretation was a landmark for the feminist movement and is often considered one of the best songs of the R&B era. (Wikipedia)

Astrologically, when Franklin recorded “Respect” on 2/14/67, romantic Venus, in dreamy Pisces, was exactly opposing transformational Pluto in corrective Virgo. Venus-Pluto oppositions can often intensify our feelings and emotions in our relationships as well as spotlight any imbalances of power within this realm.  We may also feel a real need to “clear the air,” at this time, in a bid to get our love life back on track.

Happy Valentine’s Day! Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Cosmic Weather:

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” Martin Luther King, Jr.

Retrograde Venus (the goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, and money) is in inferior conjunction with the Sun in Gemini today (at 1:44 pm), denoting the midpoint cycle of Venus’s current retrograde cycle as well as a symbolizing a new beginning in the Sun and Venus relationship. This conjunction also marks the transition from Venus as an evening star to a morning star.

Archetypally, sweet Venus tends to work as a harmonizer or balancer and retrograde in the communication sign of Gemini, there is potentially more promise now for soothing words or gestures to be able to work their special healing magic to fill what was perhaps an earlier void or lack of connection. This Sun-Venus alignment generally rallies us to put more energy into such things as being friendly or outgoing as the relationship realm is something that becomes much more vital or important now to who we are and how we see ourselves.

Too, with Venus retrograde, it could be that we have important new insights about the overall nature of our relationship or social or material needs as well as maybe glean a better understanding or perspective of what it is that we genuinely value or require in our lives order for us to feel truly happy or at least more emotionally content.

On another level, Sun-Venus aspects often help to generate more ease or flow in financial matters and may coincide with an increased desire to be surrounded by things of beauty, luxury, or objects of art.

The Waxing Moon is also in probing Scorpio, all day, suggesting our emotions are more intense at this time and our perceptions are potentially sharper. Often when Luna is here we are looking to become more fully engaged with or impassioned by our experiences. There can also be more ability or readiness for transformation. On a higher level, Scorpio represents a phoenix rising from the ashes.

“Scared and sacred are spelled with the same letters. Awful proceeds from the same root word as awesome. Terrify and terrific. Every negative experience holds the seed of transformation.” Alan Cohen

*All times EDT.

On This Day in History: On June 3, 1965, astronaut Edward H. White became the first American to “walk” in space during the flight of Gemini 4. White floated free outside the spacecraft, tethered to it, for approximately 20 minutes. Gemini 4 would also be the first multi-day (four-day) space flight by the United States, designed to show that it was possible for humans to remain in Outer space for extended lengths of time.  (Wikipedia)

Astrologically, that day, expansive Jupiter, the empowering Sun, and the future-oriented North Node were conjunct in mobile, environmentally-curious Gemini and all were square to breakthrough Uranus, the planetary ruler of space travel and technology. Revolutionizing Uranus was also conjunct transformational Pluto in perfecting Virgo, the zodiacal sign which is associated with tangibly improving our skill set or expertise.

Hope it’s a good one! Be safe and well.

Astrology January 13, 2020: Sun Conjuncts Pluto and Saturn – Redesigning the Map

Cosmic Weather:

“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” Rumi

You know, our lives would probably be a whole lot easier and run much more smoothly if the only kind of change that we ever had to grapple with, or anguish over, was the “pocket change” variety, as in dealing with real coins that jingle. Of course, that realm is really no longer even a psychological “safe haven” for us anymore with the confusing arrival of Bitcoins, which, if I didn’t know any better, would likely assume was some kind of sugary cereal, kind of like Lucky Charms.

Anyway, yesterday, we finally experienced the exact occurrence of the “Saturn-Pluto” conjunction and we witnessed, among other things, at least on a collective level, a lot of geopolitical tensions/unrest/government-rulership changes, including the widely publicized protests by the people of Iran to the tragic, accidental shooting down of that passenger jetliner, reportedly by the Iranian government, a few days ago in Tehran (an act which also occurred when aviation-ruling Uranus was stationing direct). There was also the dramatic eruption of the Taal Volcano in southern Luzon in the Philippines, which is still ongoing, spewing forth toxic ash plumes and forcing immediate evacuations in the surrounding region (Pluto rules volcanoes). Our heart goes out to all those who are suffering hardships or enduring adversities now.

Today, the illuminating Sun in self-mastery Capricorn is also “re-activating” that Saturn-Pluto conjunction, first forming its annual conjunction with transformational Pluto (at 8:21 am) and then doing the same with organizing Saturn (at 10:15 am). In a nutshell, I think these two separate “power alliances” means that we’ll likely be needing to put on our engineering hardhats and plop down our derrieres behind the drawing board now, at least for a spell, so we can do some conscious creative redesigning (Pluto) of our world (Saturn), as we know it. Make it more vital and true-to-form for us in 2020 and beyond. While there may be some initial reluctance or hesitancy to do this sort of exhausting thing, we also likely sense that taking this kind of firm (Saturnian) action, at the moment, is probably in our best interests, especially if we’ve been feeling some degree of stagnation or lack of meaning because our lives have maybe become too predictable.

On the other hand, it could be that we are forced to make changes now because what we’ve been doing is no longer working for us, maybe simply because our situations or circumstances have changed. In some cases, too, we may be experiencing a positive consolidation of our power and are seeking now to exert more control over our lives. Whatever the scenario, “extreme makeover guru” Pluto doesn’t appear to want us to really rest or chill out until all the creation/destruction/rebirth that he has in mind for us, has been fully executed, as he’s trying his best to, seemingly, take us to the next level! Of course, we must always keep in mind the simple fact that we always have the final sayso, in the end, depending on how we choose to respond.

Fortunately for us, too, sweet Venus (the goddess of love, beauty, and harmony) – which is presently in detached, high-tech Aquarius – is also working very busily, and unsuspectedly, behind the scenes now, plotting her “great escape” from all this intense, high drama. If all goes right, she will be fleeing into the healing, engulfing, soothing waters of Pisces, early this afternoon (at 1:39 pm) but we must not tell a single soul, less we foil her plot. It’s a good thing, too, that the Moon is exiting bombastic Leo for magnifying glass Virgo, this morning (9:06 am), as this should give her plenty of time to refine or perfect all the details of her pending adventure.

*All times EST.

Tarot Card for The Day: It’s the “Four of Swords,” a card that depicts a corpse lying in state in a church (Rider-Waite Deck). This suggests a period of inward reflection is truly needed so we can get a handle on what we really need to do, where we want to really go with our lives, which have, seemingly, become way too rigid or purposeless. Also, it should be noted, that the “Hanged Man” and the “Hermit” (again) both fell out of the deck as I was shuffling it, along with the King of Cups. I think these first two cards are also possibly telling us that we must learn to accept or surrender to life “as it is,” instead of trying to fight or resist it. To also maybe have faith that all is well and working as it should be. The King of Cups also perhaps suggests that part of being a great leader is to tune in and listen to one’s own heart first, to one’s emotions and feelings, as well as to the pulse or heartbeat of the people.

Numerology: Today is a “thirteen” day, which also reduces down to the number four, suggesting that there is very good ability now for putting down a solid, secure foundation for the future, as well as being able to rally some support for what we’re attempting. It sounds like a winner! 🙂

Born On This Day: Entrepreneur and Democratic candidate for U.S. President, Andrew Yang, is turning 45 today. He once wrote: “There’s a big distinction between humans as humans and humans as workers. The former are indispensable. The latter may not be.”

Hope it’s a good one!

Cosmic Weather:

It seems we’ve been officially cleared by the “powers-that-be” to formally spread some love around! 🙂

Venus and Mars, the Cosmic Lovers, are sextile to each other today. A more pleasant and pleasurable astrological aspect that bodes well not only for romantic encounters but also sets up a nice give and take in our relationships in general. We’re potentially more willing and wanting now to express our love (Venus) through the actions (Mars) that we take. This is also a very creative influence that can especially inspire us to want to create more beauty not only around us but also out in the world.

Communicator Mercury is also sextile Pluto today, the ruler of the subconscious. This energy can take conversations to a deeper level. We may also hear, see, or read something today that really resonates with our inner truth and also generates a lot of clarity for us. Due to Mercury’s retrograde dance in Scorpio, we’ve also already had this same aspect twice before (on Oct. 19 and Nov. 9) so today’s the last meetup of this cosmic duo, which could also bring final resolution to a matter.

The waxing Moon also shifted out of inventive Aquarius and into compassionate Pisces, early this morning (2:11 am). This is a really nice emotionally sensitizing aspect that can also inspire us to want to just go with the flow, to not make any waves, to simply honor that peaceful place of stillness inside ourselves. “Be still. Stillness reveals the secrets of eternity.” Lao-Tzu

The more charitably-minded Pisces Moon is also a perfect backdrop for “Giving Tuesday” today, an annual day that encourages people around the world to do good.

Numerologically, today is also a “3” day which is considered excellent for creative ventures. This also has a nice vibe to it for fun or lighter relationships.

*All times EST.

Cosmic Weather:

It’s sort of like we’re being treated to a heavenly (or dubious?) “double-header” today!

First, we have sweet Venus conjunct “Cosmic Santa” Jupiter in blue, sunshiny skies Sagittarius (8:33 am), typically an aspect associated with abundance and blessings, and having more of what we want or desire.

Then, in the second go-round, we have double-daring Mars in fearless Scorpio opposing “wild-child” Uranus in “own it till you drop” Taurus (11:50 am). Kinda like we suddenly choose to depart from a cozy path of riches or lavishness, with all the super cool celebratory partying, and stellar romance with attractive hunks – the whole nine yards – to goofily challenge ourselves to abruptly perform the equivalent of a frickin’ high-wire act without a safety net! All in part, because we “existentially” may have a burning need now to free ourselves from the assorted rat traps we’ve managed to mindlessly create for ourselves, over time. Really hard to know what the gods were thinking with this one! Anyway, hopefully, it will all have a happy ending and we’ll finally get our prince. 🙂

Cosmic Weather:

A warm, amiable Sun-Venus conjunction in creative Leo (ideally) magnifies our wants and desires, our popularity, our artistic expression, our orientation towards cooperation, love, harmony, and celebration. This is a very lovely influence that can really make us want to beautify our life, our appearance, our surroundings. Natally, when people have Sun conjunct Venus in their charts, they’re usually very adept at being able to smooth things over, to make connections with others. Occurring in Leo, too, there can be quite a bit of flair for fashion, for drama or the theatrical, for attracting attention to ourselves in a potent, charming, or charismatic way.

On the flip side, however, this same Sun-Venus conjunction also forms an awkward quinqunx to investigative Pluto in “no-frills” (Saturn-ruled) Capricorn, which could potentially serve to temporarily arouse our suspicions or find us probing deeper into the shadows, looking for what may be broken, disturbed, or, seemingly, just “not quite right,” below the surface. This is not necessarily a bad thing – maybe more like performing a maintenance check or a diagnostic on our system after sensing something might be a bit off.

The waxing Moon is also in emotionally detached Aquarius today, which can help us to see things in a more intellectual light. This position for Luna can also incline us to be more experimental or non-conforming in our approach to matters. Sometimes, too, with Luna here we’re more willing to espouse or rally behind social or humanitarian causes.

Too, since we have a Full Moon in Aquarius tomorrow, we may really be getting a strong sense of things building up or culminating now. Full Moons tend to supply us with more illumination, or greater awareness. Occurring in Aquarius, too, perhaps we’re trying to figure out now our unique, special place in the world (Sun in Leo), where we can really shine but also, at the same time, give back something meaningful to the collective (Moon in Aquarius).

Numerologically, the day (8-14-2019) reduces down to a 5 (Mercury-ruled) and 7 (Neptune-ruled), so we do have a pronounced “changeability” or “back and forth” vibe going on, and a boost of mental stimulation. But, also a strong desire for dreams and inspiration.

“And I am all the things I have ever loved: scuppernong wine, cool baptisms in silent water, dream books and number playing.” Toni Morrison

On This Day in History: On August 14, 1965, Sonny and Cher’s “I Got You Babe” hits #1.

Hope it’s a good one!

This Saturday, with the Waxing Moon in fun-loving Leo, during the day, and squaring indulgent Venus in Taurus, partaking in pleasurable activities now appears to be a good formula for racheting up our inner feelings of well-being. H. Jackson Brown, Jr., the author of Life’s Little Instruction Book advises that we should, “Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures.” To which the Leo Moon and Venus in Taurus might also add: “And don’t forget to bring along the checkbook!”

Later, the Moon’s shift into tidy Virgo (where it will stay for the next two and a half days), is a prime opportunity for us to become better organized, and a time when many of us will likely (albeit, perhaps reluctantly) trade in the (Leo) “big hair” for a “Brillo pad.” The Virgo Moon is also an excellent period for tinkering with things, perfecting our craft, as well as turning over our “honey-do” list to our partners for (keeping fingers crossed) rapid fulfillment.

Finally, sweet Venus flits into breezy, flirtatious Gemini, later tonight. Venus (governing love, money, values) is very lighthearted – maybe even a bit lightheaded, at times – in the dizzying air sign of Gemini, where variety in relationships, with recreational pastimes, art, beauty, fashion is definitely an elixir. Venus in Gemini’s emotions are on a more mental than feeling level; there is also often a need for friendship within a love relationship when Venus is deposited in this sign.

“A girl can wait for the right man to come along but in the meantime that doesn’t mean she can’t have a wonderful time with all the wrong ones.” Cher

(Born 5/20/46, Cher has her Venus at 25 degrees of Gemini and in a wide conjunction to unconventional Uranus in her behind-the-scenes, 12th House.)

Question for Today: How would you respond to Tina Turner’s “What’s love got to do with it?”

On This Day in History: On June 8, 1789, James Madison introduces a proposed Bill of Rights in the US House of Representatives.

The Astrology that day: There was a nearly exact Grand Air Trine involving the empowering Sun conjunct harmony-seeking Venus (in contractually-oriented Gemini), transforming Pluto (in humanitarian Aquarius), and unifying Neptune (in judicial, balancing Libra). The Moon was also in idealistic, philosophical Sagittarius and in its Full Phase.

Famous June 8 Birthdays: Frank Lloyd Wright, Barbara Bush, Jerry Stiller, Joan Rivers, Nancy Sinatra, Julianna Margulies, Gabrielle (Gabby) Giffords

“I don’t exercise. If God had wanted me to bend over, he would have put diamonds on the floor.” Joan Rivers

Enjoy your Saturday!
