Cosmic Weather:

“The object of a New Year is not that we should have a new year. It is that we should have a new soul and a new nose; new feet, a new backbone, new ears, and new eyes.” G.K. Chesterton

Perhaps fittingly, the first planetary aspect of 2021 is a hopeful sextile from Mercury in pragmatic Capricorn to Neptune in idealistic Pisces (6:18 am). A lovely, more subtle influence that can inspire us to imagine a better year ahead.

Another thing that is very cool about this energy is that it can often heighten our psychic or intuitive impressions, or help us to contact higher planes of consciousness. Additionally, it can make us more sympathetic or caring.

Waning Luna is also in entertainment Leo today. Doing what we enjoy brings us a lot of pleasure now. It is also a great way to recharge our spirit.

Numerologically, we are dealing with both a “one” and “seven” day. Very positive for new beginnings and for seeking a deeper meaning or higher purpose to our lives.

On This Day in History: On January 1, 1818, the first edition of the novel “Frankenstein (or “The Modern Prometheus”) by English author Mary Shelley was published anonymously in London and became an instant bestseller. The book is a combination of Gothic horror and science fiction. It tells the story of Victor Frankenstein, a Swiss student of natural science who creates an artificial man from pieces of corpses and brings his creature to life. (wikipedia.org)

Astrologically, on the day of its publication, there was a stellium of planets conjunct in futuristic, scholarly Sagittarius (Uranus, Venus, Neptune, and Jupiter), the sign which governs publishing. That planetary lineup was also square to transformational Pluto, the signifier of life, death, and rebirth. “Frankenstein” is considered by many to be the prototype of the science fiction novel.

Hope it’s a good one! Onward and upward in 2021!

Today’s Astrology June 8, 2019: Venus Enters Gemini

daily astrology, daily horoscope, James Madison introduces proposed Bill of Rights, love, Moon in Leo, Moon in Virgo, Moon square Venus, pleasure, tidying up, venus enters gemini

Cosmic Weather:

Waxing Moon is in Leo, shifting into Virgo at 5:44 pm

Moon squares Venus in Taurus at 5:23 pm

Venus Enters Gemini at 9:36 pm. Venus will stay in Gemini until July 3rd.

*All Times EDT

This Saturday, with the Waxing Moon in fun-loving Leo, during the day, and squaring indulgent Venus in Taurus, partaking in pleasurable activities now appears to be a good formula for racheting up our inner feelings of well-being. H. Jackson Brown, Jr., the author of Life’s Little Instruction Book advises that we should, “Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures.” To which the Leo Moon and Venus in Taurus might also add: “And don’t forget to bring along the checkbook!”

Later, the Moon’s shift into tidy Virgo (where it will stay for the next two and a half days), is a prime opportunity for us to become better organized, and a time when many of us will likely (albeit, perhaps reluctantly) trade in the (Leo) “big hair” for a “Brillo pad.” The Virgo Moon is also an excellent period for tinkering with things, perfecting our craft, as well as turning over our “honey-do” list to our partners for (keeping fingers crossed) rapid fulfillment.

Finally, sweet Venus flits into breezy, flirtatious Gemini, later tonight. Venus (governing love, money, values) is very lighthearted – maybe even a bit lightheaded, at times – in the dizzying air sign of Gemini, where variety in relationships, with recreational pastimes, art, beauty, fashion is definitely an elixir. Venus in Gemini’s emotions are on a more mental than feeling level; there is also often a need for friendship within a love relationship when Venus is deposited in this sign.

“A girl can wait for the right man to come along but in the meantime that doesn’t mean she can’t have a wonderful time with all the wrong ones.” Cher

(Born 5/20/46, Cher has her Venus at 25 degrees of Gemini and in a wide conjunction to unconventional Uranus in her behind-the-scenes, 12th House.)

Question for Today: How would you respond to Tina Turner’s “What’s love got to do with it?”

On This Day in History: On June 8, 1789, James Madison introduces a proposed Bill of Rights in the US House of Representatives.

The Astrology that day: There was a nearly exact Grand Air Trine involving the empowering Sun conjunct harmony-seeking Venus (in contractually-oriented Gemini), transforming Pluto (in humanitarian Aquarius), and unifying Neptune (in judicial, balancing Libra). The Moon was also in idealistic, philosophical Sagittarius and in its Full Phase.

Famous June 8 Birthdays: Frank Lloyd Wright, Barbara Bush, Jerry Stiller, Joan Rivers, Nancy Sinatra, Julianna Margulies, Gabrielle (Gabby) Giffords

Cosmic Weather:

“The time we lose is not in overdoing what we are about, but in doing nothing.” William Hazlitt

With fun-loving Venus in boundaryless Pisces forming a square to over-sizing Jupiter in enthusiastic Sagittarius today, it’s easy to get swept away in the current of whatever it is that we’re pursuing for pleasure or enjoyment now (relationships/love/money/dreams/beliefs). Not that that’s necessarily a bad thing, by any means…

Of course, on the other hand, as many of us know, too much of a good thing can quickly morph into something that is ‘not-so-good’ for us, depending on what we’re doing or what’s at stake. In other words, it’s always wise to put things into their proper context.

Anyway, discerning when and where to draw that merry little line or distinction with respect to the parameters of our behavior, is, seemingly, part of our captivating cosmic assignment for this Monday, April 15th. Tax Day in the U.S.

Famous April 15 Birthdays: Leonardo da Vinci, Nikita Khrushchev, Elizabeth Montgomery, Emma Thompson

“Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer. Go some distance away because then the work appears smaller and more of it can be taken in at a glance and a lack of harmony and proportion is more readily seen.” Leonardo da Vinci

On This Day in History: On April 15, 1912, the Titanic sank off the Newfoundland coast as the band played on. More than 1,500 people lost their lives in the world’s most tragic and infamous maritime tragedy.

Astrologically, in the sky that day, Neptune, the ruler of the sea, was in the water sign of Cancer and exactly square to the Lunar Nodes (NN in Aries, SN in Libra).

“In April, God speaks to us in the seas whose rhythmic murmuring fills our ears from a long way off. It was in April that the Titanic went down into the deep to lie like a slasher’s victim, bleeding the ‘debris field’ – its’ passengers personal possessions, the everyday things of every man and every woman – across the ocean’s floor.” Eugene Kennedy

“I adore simple pleasures. They are the last refuge of the complex.” Oscar Wilde

COSMIC WATCH:

Pleasure-seeking Venus sextiles benevolent Jupiter today, the planet of optimism and abundance. It’s a perfect time for kicking back and doing whatever fosters a sense of joy and fulfillment. For some, this might equate to pursuing a romantic interest; experimenting with a new recipe; or, maybe attending get-togethers with family and friends. Ernest Hemingway once referred to pleasures as the “punctuation marks of life.” Isn’t that a great way to view them? He also added, however, that we don’t want to get trapped in the “festival theory of life,” inferring that “too much pleasure” can lead to boredom or atrophy of the human spirit.

The adventurous Aries Moon also adds to our desire to be fully immersed in the moment. “Real generosity towards the future lies in giving all to the present.” Albert Camus

Famous July 28 Birthdays: Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Hugo Chavez, Bill Bradley.

“I want to live my life, not record it.” Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis

Enjoy your Sunday – may it be pleasurable!

Astrology June 27, 2012: Venus Stations Direct in Gemini

Ann Curry, Ann Curry may leave Today as co-host, astrology for june 27 2012, horoscope june 27 2012, love, Nora Ephron dies of leukemia, pleasure, venus goes direct, venus stations direct in gemini 2012

COSMIC WATCH:

“A loving heart is the truest wisdom.” Charles Dickens

Venus, the planet of love, beauty, pleasure, women’s issues, and money, is finally stationing direct today (11:07 am EDT) after a six week “retro dance” in communication Gemini. When a planet is retrograde, it provides a formal chance for us to review, re-assess, re-configure the various things ruled by that planet. This process is sort of similar to re-arranging furniture in a room. Our perceptions of a particular room are often inevitably altered, too, when we witness the objects in a new spatial relationship to each other. The objects themselves may even seem a bit different to us as we perceive them from new angles.

Sometimes we may also come to the conclusion that some of the things in a room just have to go. Maybe either into another room. Or possibly out the front door to Goodwill. Because it seems no matter how we position them, if they are not in flow with the rest of the environment, keeping them there will only spoil the integrity of the space, while also robbing us of our precious energy.

So with sweet Venus going direct again, it’s a little like “move-in” day regarding the aspects of our lives that tend to bring us pleasure and joy. We are excited and anxious now to get settled into in our “newly re-arranged” quarters. While it may take us a few days to get fully comfortable with the new layout, we are hopeful that our new design will serve us better than the old one. That there will be a fresh momentum now to our affairs. A brand new, dazzling energy swirling about in the ether, hopefully hovering over our romantic and financial matters.

“I no longer believed in the idea of soul mates, or love at first sight. But I was beginning to believe that a very few times in your life, if you were lucky, you might meet someone who was exactly right for you. Not because he was perfect, or because you were, but because your combined flaws were arranged in a way that allowed two separate beings to hinge together.” Lisa Kleypas

What is the hope for your relationships now? Or, for your finances? How confident are you that you will be able to realize these intentions in the days and weeks ahead? What do you think is the master key to your happiness?

Entertainment News: With Venus (women) stationing direct in “communication” Gemini today, numerous media reports are swirling around that Ann Curry may be replaced by Savannah Guthrie as co-host of the Today Show. The Huffington Post reports that Curry may be retained by NBC as a major foreign correspondent. They are also reporting that the announcement of the change-up may be made as early as today by NBC executives. Some other recent reports have said that the “chemistry” between Matt Lauer and Curry just wasn’t right. Ratings were also reportedly down for the program.

Too, it was sadly reported last evening that Nora Ephron, an American filmmaker, director, producer, screenwriter, novelist, playwright, journalist, author and blogger, had passed away from leukemia at age 71. Ephron was a phenomenal humorist (Gemini). She wrote and directed “Julie & Julia” and “Sleepless in Seattle.”

When a planet such as Venus stations in the sky, it appears virtually motionless, from our perspective on Earth. This stationary movement also tends to bring matters associated with that planet into greater prominence for a day or two.

Astrology November 5, 2011: Moderation Is Suggested With Jupiter

astrology for november 5 2011, excess, fairy tale, going overboard, horoscope november 5 2011, mercury quinqunx jupiter, Moon in Pisces, pleasure, venus quinqunx jupiter

COSMIC WATCH:

Doing whatever brings us pleasure is recommended today with the Moon in creative and dreamy Pisces, a lunar placement that often inclines us to want to escape the daily grind. Too, Neptune-ruled Pisces is the official sign of fairy tales, so it’s not that surprising that we may want to steep ourselves in “never never land” for a while when the Moon is magically moving through here. Also, engaging in fantasy and using the powers of our imagination can be very healing and rejuvenating. Of course, all things that eventually manifest or take shape on the earth plane, are first initially seeded by our imagination. The Pisces Moon is also good for meditation or prayer.

However, we do need to be more mindful of not overdoing things today, as we have both Venus (what we love) and Mercury (our thinking and communication) forming stressful quinqunx aspects to Jupiter (expansion) in self-indulgent Taurus. With Jupiter roguishly in the picture, it is easier for us to do things to excess, or to overspend, misjudge or mis-calculate matters. By paying closer attention, though, to the devilish details and not glossing over costs, we still may be able to make some refreshing lemonade from the sour cosmic aspects. 🙂

COSMIC WATCH:

Our light begins to shine brighter with the Sun’s entrance into magnanimous Leo (12:12 am EDT) which puts a focus on being creative, self-confident, and fully open to experiencing joy.

The Leo Sun’s quinqunx to veiled Neptune, however, does suggest the need for extra vigilance today, as some issues could be obscured or clouded. Mercury’s semisquare to naysayer Saturn may also find us wrangling with a few detractors on our path.

The Moon’s ingress into sensual Taurus (12:59 am EDT) puts before us all manner of Earth’s delicious pleasures. The Moon’s monthly conjunction with fortuitous Jupiter (5:20 pm EDT) sweetens the pot even more.

COSMIC WEATHER:

“You don’t have to go looking for love when it’s where you come from.” Werner Erhard

Love goddess Venus, ruler of our “power of attraction,” forms a harmonious sextile to fortuitous Jupiter. This is a classic astrological marker of “abundant love.” This is because Jupiter expands whatever it touches and aligned with Venus, the signifier of love and pleasure, our hearts are given creative license to joyously bloom. We are more receptive to giving and receiving love, and more inclined to want to engage in whatever is pleasurable (Venus). The Venus-ruled Taurus Moon also serves to richly augment Cupid’s sweetheart desires.

“I don’t know a lot about politics, but I can recognise a good party man when I see one.” Mae West (Leo)

COSMIC WEATHER:

Moon leaves Nesting Cancer for Rock Star Leo. We have big dreams, big hair. We wanna party hardy. Our tempers may have somewhat shorter fuses, however, with Mercury semi-square Mars, so we may want to think twice before spouting off.  Or else, be prepared to suffer the consequences.

But, with Love Diva Venus, in Romantic Libra, separating from a harmonious trine to Fantasy Lover Neptune, it could just be that we’re in a blissful mood, and not crabby at all, because we’re thinking that we have finally met that elusive “Prince” or “Princess” that we’ve been searching for! With “Venus-Neptune” we’re always wanting to believe in “fairytale  endings.” However, we do need to remember: It’s always a good idea to give a new love interest time to “walk their talk!” Especially when Illusionist Neptune is involved.
