Cosmic Weather:
The Sun Quincunx Jupiter Rx in Aquarius (10:18 am): Too much of a good thing could have unintended consequences! We also may want to restrain/curtail our “inner fixer” a bit as it’s easier now to get carried away with our fervor for corrections/so-called improvements.
The Sun Trines Pluto ( 9:53 pm): This more flowing (alchemical) aspect allows for transformations, transitions with relative ease. There’s also more of an ability to quickly see below the surface of things so we are better able to appreciate all that’s going on. Included here, we also become more keenly aware of what we may need to discard or purge in order to grow. On another level, this influence can instill within us a greater passion for what we love or fill us with a deeper sense of purpose or resolve.
The Moon also shifts from traditional Capricorn to inventive Aquarius this morning (11:23 am) and is in its Waxing Gibbous phase with 78% illumination.

On This Day in History: On September 16, 1940, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signs the Selective Training & Service Act (1st peacetime draft in U.S. history). This occurred some two weeks after the outbreak of World War II. This act required men between the ages of 21 and 30 to register with their local draft boards.
After signing the act into law, Roosevelt said, “America stands at the crossroads of its destiny. Time and distance have been shortened. A few weeks have seen great nations fall. We cannot remain indifferent to the philosophy of force now rampant in the world. We must and will marshal our great potential strength to fend off war from our shores. We must and will prevent our land from becoming a victim of aggression.” (From Politico)
Astrological highlights on 9/16/40: Warrior Mars (ruling the military) was applying to a potent conjunction (new beginning) with the leadership Sun (three degrees) in the planning sign of Virgo. Mars was also just separating from a trine to Saturn and Jupiter, both conjunct in stabilizing Taurus, the sign which represents the resources at our disposal. Saturn and Jupiter together can help to, among other things, provide us with a more balanced/cautious/realistic view or assessment of the future. The Mars-Jupiter trine aspect was also exact on September 14th when this particular legislation was approved. The Mars-Jupiter alignment suggests/exemplifies expansion of military power/competitiveness/assertiveness.
“War must be, while we defend our lives against a destroyer who would devour all; but I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend.” J.R.R. Tolkien.
Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.
