Astrology November 26, 2011: The Eclipse Works Magic For NBA

basketball, moon quinqunx jupiter, Moon square mars, Moon trine Uranus, National Basketball Association, NBA reaches tentative agreement, Partial Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius November 25 2011

The National Basketball Association and its players have reportedly reached a tentative deal to end the 148-day lockout, according to the NYT.com, which is also reporting that the deal was agreed to on Black Friday, the same day as the partial solar eclipse at 2 degrees 37 minutes of Sagittarius. (Other news outlets are reporting the deal was reached early Saturday morning.) The NBA reportedly plans to start the season on Christmas Day and play a 66-game schedule. (Wonder if this agreement may be modified, though, later, in wake of Mercury being retrograde? Too, the deal still has to be approved by both the owners and players. Mercury rules agreements and negotiations.)

As I mentioned earlier in my Eclipse blog, this lunation in Sagittarius formed a positive, flowing trine to change-agent Uranus, in “new beginnings” Aries, suggesting more of a desire, both individually and collectively, to want to break with the past and move forward. Potentially, also boding well for ending difficult stalemates or impasses. Uranus also has a legacy with bringing about sudden breakthroughs in our stream of consciousness. Aries is also the sign that rules sports, while Sagittarius rules legal matters. The tentative NBA deal was reportedly agreed to at a Midtown Manhattan law office.

Too, New Moons, by their very nature, tend to coincide with fresh starts, while eclipses often bring about sudden endings.

Interestingly, this eclipse was also squared by energizing Mars in Virgo, the sign of labor, which perhaps helped to provide extra impetus to take sudden action to end this NBA labor dispute. Mars tends to give matters momentum. The eclipse also formed a quinqunx aspect to expansive Jupiter in financial Taurus, denoting the huge financial aspect at stake here for the NBA owners and players. The NBA reportedly generates $4 billion annually in revenues. No paltry sum by any stretch of the imagination.

Do you plan on watching any of the NBA games, when they start back up?  BTW, how did you fare with yesterday’s eclipse? Score any “slam dunks” with it? If not, don’t despair. There’s still some time. The eclipse point or degree stays activated for up to six months in our personal charts, although we usually feel some kind of “pop” from it, a few days on either side of the event.

COSMIC WATCH:

We may be more amenable to getting along with others today, with the Moon in agreeable, diplomatic Libra, the official sign of “the other.” Connection Queen, Venus, the ruler of Libra, is also getting ready to harmoniously sextile stabilizing Saturn, an aspect that is exact early tomorrow (3:20 am EST).  The more serious Venus-Saturn aspect often helps us perceive and or evaluate our relationships from a more practical or utilitarian point of view. This influence can also make us much more commitment-oriented and duty-bound.

On another level, Venus-Saturn is often linked with the formation of “May-December” romances, with Saturn denoting more senior type persons and also father figures.

astrology for november 20 2011, confusion, creative, dreamy, foggy, freedom in relationships, horoscope november 20 2011, Moon opposite Uranus, Sun square Neptune, super committee in washington dc

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon in “analytical” Virgo poises us to want to figure things out, or to simply look for the logic in everyday matters. However, it may be trickier to ascertain or collect all the facts today as the probing Scorpio Sun is making an exact square to evasive, foggy Neptune (3:42 pm EST), an aspect which tends to veil or skew our perceptions and, accordingly, can make us a bit more confused. Also, on the shadow side, we are more prone to deception from others – and from ourselves now.

Dreamy Neptune also rules the urge for escape or fantasy, so we may find it harder to comfortably settle down now into our daily routines.  One positive way to go with the Neptunian flow may be to immerse ourselves in more creative type projects, such as painting, photography, poetry, song-writing or dancing. Neptune is the planet that governs our imagination.

This evening, the Moon shifts into social Libra (8:17 pm EST) and also makes its monthly opposition to freedom-loving Uranus (9:36 pm EST). This could translate into our suddenly wanting more “wiggle room” in our relationships. This aspect can also give us a penchant for wanting to pair up with more “unconventional types.”

”To know when to go away and when to come closer is the key to any lasting relationship.”  ~ Doménico Cieri Estrada

Famous People with Sun square Neptune: Jennifer Aniston, Kevin Costner, Cameron Diaz.

Neptune rules the following: oil, the sea and maritime interests, chemicals, paint, narcotics and drug companies, matters involving spirituality and mysticism, meditation, prayer, the movies and film-making, actors and actresses, songwriters, dancers, poets, painters, martyrs, prisoners, the downtrodden, hospitals, shelters, and places of confinements, scandals and cover-ups, all manner of disguises, swindlers and con-men, addictions and addicts, psychic phenomena, cosmetics, fragrances or perfume, aromatherapy.

Enjoy your Sunday! But, do be careful about drinking too much of the Neptunian Kool-Aid! This, of course, especially applies to the twelve members of the “Super Committee” in Washington. You know, guys, we’re counting on you! (No matter that mental Mercury is also getting ready to go retrograde in “let’s just gloss over the details” Sagittarius. That’s a whole other can of worms!) 🙂

Astrology November 25, 2011: New Moon Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius

astrology for november 25 2011, beliefs, eclipse november 25 2011, education, excess, legal, moon quinqunx jupiter, New Moon in Sagittarius, new moon november 25 2011, travel

COSMIC WATCH:

There’s a New Moon / Partial Solar Eclipse on November 25th in adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius, putting a spotlight on the various areas associated with this sign: philosophy and our belief systems, religion, politics, publishing, higher education, the law, foreign cultures, and long-distance travel. The New Moon Eclipse is occurring at 2 degrees 37 minutes of Sadge (1:10 am EST).

New Moons traditionally usher in new beginnings, while the more highly-charged eclipses tend to “speed things up,” allowing us to “leapfrog” into the future at a seemingly much faster clip than during a standard New Moon. For example, things that we were maybe expecting to happen at a certain point, down the road, may suddenly be occurring now, at a much earlier timetable than anticipated.

Too, even though a New Moon puts a focus on new starts, there can also be abrupt endings that occur around the time of an eclipse. Or at the very least, feelings of finality, involving some events or situations in our lives.  We will want to pay attention to what house (area of life) in our personal horoscopes that the eclipse is falling in for possible clues to where some of this “transitioning” may be occurring, along with noting the planetary aspects this lunation is making in our charts. Eclipse points remain activated zones in our horoscopes for up to six months, although we usually feel their impact within a few days, either side of the event.

This New Moon Eclipse in Sagittarius is forming a flowing trine to liberating Uranus in spontaneous-acting Aries. This also suggests more of a positive receptivity, on our part, to change and discovery. Also, this bodes well for our being able to to adaptively roll with whatever may suddenly manifest for us with this eclipse. Uranus also rules our intuition, originality, and talent for innovation and invention. Accordingly, we may feel more inspired now to “do our own thing.” Expressing or articulating our opinions and points of view, as well as perhaps trying to rally others over to our way of thinking, may also be included here, with Sagittarius often harboring a mean evangelistic streak. It is the sign of preachers, after all. And politicians! It may be interesting, too, to pay more attention to the protest movements, in the collective, to see if they pick up more steam now. Also, there could be notable events occurring now in the world of politics, maybe even certain politicians exiting (eclipse) the scene. With Sadge also ruling publishing, we might want to eye what titles are being released now, especially if any of them might be game-changers for the collective.

Hopefully, too, with Uranus’s brilliant ray involved, we will also see some major scientific / technological feats, debuts, or discoveries around eclipse time. Uranus rules both  science and technology. With the long-distance travel sign of Sagittarius also involved, perhaps this will include astronomical discoveries or breakthroughs. Too, it could be that we experience personal breakthroughs (Uranus) in our consciousness now regarding our beliefs or higher purpose. Also, we may be able to problem-solve in a more “out of the box” way with the issues going on around us. We should at least challenge ourselves to do so now. Also, the inspiration of Uranus will often come to us as sudden flashes of intuition, so we may want to make sure that we quickly jot down our genius revelations when they appear, lest we soon forget them.

On the shadow side, what we may want to avoid doing now, with this eclipse, is making wholesale changes in our lives for the mere sake of change, without having a clear strategy in mind.  We may also need to carefully consider the consequences of our actions, in advance, so we don’t inadvertently self-sabotage ourselves. Too, the New Moon Eclipse is forming an awkward quinqunx aspect to exaggerating Jupiter in Taurus, the natural ruler of Sagittarius, which can easily incline us to overreach, overpromise, overindulge, and overspend, if we are not mindful.

With communicator Mercury, governing our thinking, also in retrograde phase in Sagittarius, during this eclipse, we are urged to double-check, triple-check, even quadruple-check all of the facts or details in matters, especially with regards to any travel plans, meetings, contracts or agreements. Too, the eclipse is widely square to impulsive, assertive Mars, which can also, on the negative side, scatter our focus and make us somewhat brazen or uncompromising. Of course, we do not have to venture down any of those prickly paths, if we consciously choose to stay on target with our more noble intentions and goals and act responsibly, with consideration for others. Cultivating and maintaining a keen mind-body awareness can also help us out here. When we pay close attention to how our body is feeling and functioning, in conjunction with our thoughts and our environment, we usually intuitively know when we are veering off course, or perhaps getting in over our head, or acting inappropriately. Our body rarely ever lies to us.

“Emotion always has its roots in the unconscious and manifests itself in the body.” Irene Claremont de Castillejo

Compatible activities or avenues of expression for the New Moon / Eclipse in Sagittarius: Teaching/ lecturing/ attending seminars, registering for new classes; writing and or self-publishing; learning new languages; socializing with people from other cultures; involvement with advertisement/PR campaigns; sales and cold-calling; self-promotion; involvement with politics and social causes; taking stands with respect to one’s beliefs; foreign travel; studying world religions; partaking/leading worship or church services; galloping with Trigger into the wild blue yonder at sunset 🙂

Scientific News Update 11/25/11: On the eve of this Solar Eclipse, which happened to trine “breakthrough” planet, Uranus, it was reported yesterday (published in Nature) that scientists have sequenced the genome of a widespread pest, the “spider mite.” The genome is reportedly the smallest arthropod genome sequenced so far.  The “spider mite” is a major cause for house plants turning yellow and getting sick. It reportedly costs $1 billion to control the spider mite annually.

COSMIC WATCH:

In wake of the potent Full Moon yesterday, there still may be more of an emotional tenor to this day. This morning, the Moon in plodding, materially-minded Taurus, also squares off with fuzzy, elusive Neptune (11:28 am EST), so we may want to tread lightly, especially in financial matters. It is always a good idea, too, whenever we are dealing with Neptune’s nebulous ray, to simply stick with the facts, and to mute or dispel any pipe dreams and or irrational fears.

The Moon’s shift into breezy, disseminating Gemini (3:11 pm EST) provides us with more flexibility, as well as burgeoning intellectual curiosity over the next couple of days. The Moon’s square to restless Mars (3:53 pm EST), newly deposited in correcting, health-ruling Virgo, also suggests we may need to be more mindful and considerate of our physical energies and to not overtax our systems. Taking slow, deep, conscious breaths, and pausing for reflection, if only for a few moments, will likely hold some regenerative perks for us now, as well as offering us more options or alternatives for our behavior. Often with Moon-Mars, we react instinctively to things, without thinking, and thereby limit our range of choices. The pausing or disengaging, though, helps to widen our perspective because it, for one thing, affords us the chance to mull over or review issues. Also, the act of pausing opens the door for us to reconnect with our sacred intuition, a vehicle of expression from our higher self.

COSMIC WATCH:

A Full Moon in slow-moving, earthy Taurus today, at 18 degrees (3:17 pm EST), puts a focus on finding contentment and enjoyment in the simpler pleasures of life. It also places a spotlight on our values, and may be able to provide us with added insight, clarity and feedback on how we are managing our resources. Too, what we attract to us is often a reflection of what we value. Maybe If we are unhappy or unfulfilled with the elements surrounding us at this Full Moon, it could be that we need to go inside ourselves and take a closer look at where we have been putting our focus lately. Perhaps we have been putting our attention in the wrong areas, investing our time and energy in the wrong things, and we need to make some adjustments now.  Full Moons can trigger crisis situations and turning points in consciousness. Too, it could be that pivotal events happening in the collective now may also have the net affect of helping to alter or reshape our values or belief systems.

Energy planet Mars, governing self-assertion, is also shifting from flashy, entertaining Leo into organizing, analytical Virgo today (11:15 pm EST), the sign of work and health, where it will stay until next July. With Mars in Virgo, there is an emphasis on honing or perfecting our skills or craft. It is also an excellent period for instituting positive health changes. For instance, we may be more driven and fired up to adhere to diets now. Or an exercise program. In the body, Virgo rules the intestines and the process of digestion. The intestines break down food particles so that they may be better assimilated. Symbolically, Mars in Virgo also energizes us to carefully digest our life experiences so that we may take away from them practical, useful substance or content. Virgo is a highly resourceful sign that helps to make us very self-sufficient. It is also a sign that takes pleasure in being of service or utility to others.

astrology for november 9 2011, deception, fall from grace, full moon in taurus 2011, gardening, horoscope november 9 2011, illusion, Moon in Taurus, neptune stations direct in aquarius, scandal

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon’s ingress into plodding, deliberate Taurus the Bull (2:46 am EST) is an elixir for all things practical. The Taurus Moon is generally a very good grounding or stabilizing influence. It’s also ideal for gardening or planting activities, especially for planting above ground crops today, as the Moon is working up to its Full Moon phase tomorrow in this sign.

Too, the Moon’s monthly conjunction with buoyant Jupiter (10:21 am EST), the largest planet in our solar system, can help to put us in more hopeful and generous spirit, with Jupiter often billed as the cosmic Santa Claus. The Moon is also forming a potent trine to healing, regenerating Pluto, in success-oriented Capricorn (2:08 pm EDT), which is another earth sign. With Moon-Pluto energy, we often receive added clarity or insight into matters and can successfully re-plot our courses or strategies as a result. It is also an excellent influence for locating missing objects or ferreting out what has been hidden in general, including hidden within our subconscious (Pluto rules psychology and psychotherapy).

Neptune, the planet of spirituality and illusion, is also stationing direct today in hi-tech Aquarius (1:54 pm EDT), after going retrograde in Pisces, the sign of its rulership, in early June. Neptune will be leaving Aquarius for good in early February of 2012. It will not be back in Aquarius in our lifetimes. During its passage through Aquarius, beginning in the late 1990s, we have, of course, seen an explosion in technology, which has created more connectedness among all of us via the internet. Neptune, too, perennially acts to dissolve boundaries. It’s labeled the “Great Dissolver.”

On the shadow side, though, Neptune can also foster addictions, dependencies, cover-ups and deception. Too, many of us have become psychologically and physically enslaved to our various technological devices with Neptune in Aquarius. Maybe with Neptune leaving Aquarius, we will be able to gradually wean ourselves away from them. Thought it was very symbolic, too, that Steve Jobs died with Neptune getting ready to leave this sign, as he had done so many pioneering things for the tech industry, showered us with so many dazzling, magical gadgets.

Also, on the shadow side, for the last several days with energizer Mars opposite dissolving Neptune, and earlier, Venus in Scorpio squaring Neptune, we have been hearing about major scandals in the collective. Also there has been a plethora of nauseating finger-pointing and innuendo. We have also seen high-profile leaders topple from their positions of power. Neptune, as I have mentioned here repeatedly, is the planet that is linked with scandal. It is also associated with resignations, surrender and “falls from grace.” Too, it rules oil, and oil prices have been going up the last few days, mainly on fears that Iran is building nuclear weapons, a story that came to light in the collective yesterday with the rogue Sun-Uranus sesquiquadrate aspect.

On an individual level, with Neptune stationing direct now, we may want to see where in our personal lives, we have allowed ourselves to become deluded or addicted. Where have we been harboring erroneous illusions? One clue here, too, is to look at the house (area of life) in our personal charts where Neptune is passing. Hopefully, that foggy veil will begin lifting now in the days and weeks ahead. We may also want to pay closer attention to our nocturnal dreams now for extra insight or messages, another realm which Neptune rules.

a different drummer, accountability, astrology for november 8 2011, horoscope november 8 2011, Moon in Aries, Moon opposite Saturn, relationships, sun sesquiquadrate uranus, towing the line, unconventional

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon continues its stay in restless, self-willed Aries. We also have the illuminating Sun in intense, reforming Scorpio in an unsteady alignment (sesquiquadrate) with radical, disruptive Uranus in Aries. We may be wanting to march impromptu to the beat of a different drummer today, perhaps as a rejuvenating catharsis. Or maybe simply as an act of revolt. Yet the Moon’s monthly opposition to conforming Saturn, in relationship Libra (1:10 pm EST), may also mean that there still is a weighty expectation upon us to “tow the line,” to some extent, especially where others are concerned.  Moon-Saturn has a way of sternly holding us accountable, especially whenever we have committed or violated any breaches of protocol. Probably not a good day for rash or impulsive moves, or for acting too independently, unless we are willing to maturely accept the consequences or possible fallout. Too, we have both Venus and Mercury forming chilly semi-squares to withholding Saturn, so it may be harder for us to convincingly woo others over, especially if we display, or have displayed in the past, too much insensitivity to their needs.

“The finest qualities of our nature, like the bloom on fruits, can be preserved by only the most delicate handling. Yet we do not treat ourselves nor one another thus tenderly.” Henry David Thoreau

News Update: With the sports-ruling Aries Moon applying to an exact opposition to censoring Saturn, in diplomatic Libra, the NYT.com is reporting (12:10 pm EST) that school officials at Penn State are supposedly planning an exit strategy for football coach, Joe Paterno, in wake of the shocking sex abuse scandal that has rocked that college in the last few days. The NYT.com says that this information comes from “two people briefed on conversations among the university’s top officials.” Paterno’s departure could reportedly come within days or weeks, according to the sources.

Too, looking further at this particular story through an astrological lens, we also have the purging, transforming Scorpio Sun forming that destabilizing aspect to disruptive Uranus in Aries today (Scorpio rules sexual matters). Also, in the backdrop, we still have the dissolving, disillusioning Mars in Leo opposition to Neptune, with Neptune the planet that is formally linked with scandal and innuendo.

Also, the WSJ.com is reporting this afternoon that Italy’s President, Silvio Berlusconi, will be stepping down after the 2012 budget is approved. He reportedly lost his majority in Parliament. Berlusconi has been a very controversial, colorful political leader, to say the least.

astrology for november 7 2011, deception, ego denying, horoscope november 7 2011, Mars opposite Neptune, Moon in Aries, retreating, running away from obligations, serving others

COSMIC WATCH:

The enterprising Aries Moon normally positions us for confidently venturing outside of our comfort zone, although today may be a little different. This is because Mars, the planet of self-assertion and survival, and the natural ruler of Aries, is exactly opposite vague, elusive Neptune. Neptune, known as the Great Dissolver, tends to blur or obscure matters, and when aligned with Mars, we can easily feel confused or out of step regarding how to best direct our energy outward (Mars).  Neptune also symbolizes our urge for flight or escape, which can, of course, be a survivalist technique in itself.

On the shadow side, Mars-Neptune also has a legacy with misplaced aggression, and even subterfuge and scandal. It is also linked with acts of surrender.

Regarding how to navigate the day, it may be best for us to not push or force issues. We may also want to make sure that we honor our commitments and not shirk or run away from our duties or obligations. Too, it may be wise to subdue our egos and serve others instead. Mars-Neptune can generally be more of an ego-denying influence; however, when we give back to others, this aspect can help to lead us back to our true, authentic center.

COSMIC WATCH:

As the Moon leaves the soulful waters of Pisces and races into fiery, self-discovery Aries (2:02 pm EDT), there’s a fervor for newness and excitement in our lives. Especially when the Moon makes her monthly conjunction to freedom-loving Uranus (4:15 pm EDT), which often poises us to “push the envelope” and test the limits of things. This lunar influence can also incite our inner genius and make us more innovative, as Uranus is linked with brilliance and originality. Of course, on the shadow side, Moon-Uranus can quickly exhaust our reservoir of patience, if we’re not mindful, as it is highly charged, very restless energy, particularly in spontaneous, impulsive Aries.

Famous People with Moon conjunct Uranus: Anais Nin, Bob Dylan, Ann-Margret, Drew Carey, Jodi Foster

How can you engage or invoke your “inner Einstein” (Uranus) today? A couple helpful techniques: 1) Try to see beyond what appears on the surface of things. 2) Toss aside your natural assumptions and investigate matters.

November 6 birthday: Actress Sally Field turns 65 today! Field’s probing Scorpio Sun and pioneering Aries Moon exactly mirrors today’s Sun-Moon lineup. She also her Mercury and Venus conjunct in Sagittarius, which is additionally identical to what we have operating now. Mercury-Venus in Sadge can make a person very outspoken, but also very pleasant and likable, as Venus governs our “power of attraction.” With this aspect, we often seem to know the right things to say to others, to soothe or win them over. (Mercury rules words and communication).

Enjoy your Sunday!
