(Today’s Planetary Aspects: The Moon in social Libra trines curious Mercury, squares controlling Pluto, sextiles lovable Venus, opposes rules breaker Uranus, and sextiles philosophical Jupiter. The Moon is Void of Course at 7:22 pm until 1:57 pm on Friday when it enters investigative Scorpio. All times posted are for EDT.)

Cosmic Quote of the Day: “Nothing is ever lost by courtesy. It is the cheapest of pleasures, costs nothing, and conveys much.” Erastus Wiman

Polite behavior is something that most of us appreciate. It is a universal way to quickly convey respect for a person. Studies have also shown that politeness helps to put people at ease, which can go a long way in fostering strong relationships. Today’s gracious Moon in Libra naturally affords us a chance to put on our goodwill ambassador hat, although we may still face a couple diplomatic hurdles along the way via Luna’s square to intense Pluto (7:07 am), which can bring sudden urges to the forefront. Also, the Moon opposes erratic Uranus around the dinner hour (6:20 pm), a time when it might be wise to cut others more slack to do their own thing.

The Moon’s last aspect of the day, a warm sextile to generous Jupiter in Leo (7:22 pm), potentially helps spawn a desire to want to attend to the welfare or betterment of others. It can also put us in a relaxing mood in which we want to seek out fun and pleasurable activities, such as going to a night club, or maybe taking in a movie. Too, it’s a positive period for dealing with women. Additionally, our ability to be persuasive with others, is also enhanced.

COSMIC  WATCH:

We shift into more of a “we” mindset with the Moon’s descent into relationship Libra (8:29 am EST).  Libra’s ruler, sweet Venus, also dives into the compassionate waters of Pisces today (12:48 am EST) where she will seductively swim until February 8. In dreamy Pisces, Venus helps to wet our appetite for fantasy and “fairy-tale romance,” making us more willing and receptive to the idea of tearing down our crusty relational walls in order to experience a feeling of total oneness or bliss with our beloved. Of course, on the flip side, this desire for a removal of boundaries can also make us more vulnerable emotionally, as our tender root system is exposed.

The “goddess of love and money” is also making a soothing sextile to expansive, philosophical Jupiter, inspiring us to attach a higher meaning or significance to our alliances, while simultaneously stoking our generosity and optimism. In astrology, Venus-Jupiter alignments are considered to be highly fortuitous in nature and can help to deliver to us the abundance we are seeking, either in a real literal sense or on a symbolic level. These two planets together can also heighten our experience of pleasure. On the topic of pleasure, Euripides, the Greek playwright, said, “The greatest pleasure of life is love.” The Irish poet, Oscar Wilde, also stated that, “an inordinate passion for pleasure is the secret of staying young.”

The Moon’s monthly opposition to non-conforming Uranus (10:29 am EST) may additionally signal that we need to take some kind of action today that sets us apart from the crowd and allows us to display our originality and brilliance. Later, the Moon’s square to hidden Pluto (9:50 pm EST) prompts us to “look within” for the answers.

“The peace we need is always present, it’s just that we have forgotten where it is and how to find it.” Clare Wilde

Astrology November 20, 2011: Sun Squares Veiled Neptune

astrology for november 20 2011, confusion, creative, dreamy, foggy, freedom in relationships, horoscope november 20 2011, Moon opposite Uranus, Sun square Neptune, super committee in washington dc

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon in “analytical” Virgo poises us to want to figure things out, or to simply look for the logic in everyday matters. However, it may be trickier to ascertain or collect all the facts today as the probing Scorpio Sun is making an exact square to evasive, foggy Neptune (3:42 pm EST), an aspect which tends to veil or skew our perceptions and, accordingly, can make us a bit more confused. Also, on the shadow side, we are more prone to deception from others – and from ourselves now.

Dreamy Neptune also rules the urge for escape or fantasy, so we may find it harder to comfortably settle down now into our daily routines.  One positive way to go with the Neptunian flow may be to immerse ourselves in more creative type projects, such as painting, photography, poetry, song-writing or dancing. Neptune is the planet that governs our imagination.

This evening, the Moon shifts into social Libra (8:17 pm EST) and also makes its monthly opposition to freedom-loving Uranus (9:36 pm EST). This could translate into our suddenly wanting more “wiggle room” in our relationships. This aspect can also give us a penchant for wanting to pair up with more “unconventional types.”

”To know when to go away and when to come closer is the key to any lasting relationship.”  ~ Doménico Cieri Estrada

Famous People with Sun square Neptune: Jennifer Aniston, Kevin Costner, Cameron Diaz.

Neptune rules the following: oil, the sea and maritime interests, chemicals, paint, narcotics and drug companies, matters involving spirituality and mysticism, meditation, prayer, the movies and film-making, actors and actresses, songwriters, dancers, poets, painters, martyrs, prisoners, the downtrodden, hospitals, shelters, and places of confinements, scandals and cover-ups, all manner of disguises, swindlers and con-men, addictions and addicts, psychic phenomena, cosmetics, fragrances or perfume, aromatherapy.

Enjoy your Sunday! But, do be careful about drinking too much of the Neptunian Kool-Aid! This, of course, especially applies to the twelve members of the “Super Committee” in Washington. You know, guys, we’re counting on you! (No matter that mental Mercury is also getting ready to go retrograde in “let’s just gloss over the details” Sagittarius. That’s a whole other can of worms!) 🙂

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon’s ingress into diplomatic Libra (11:50 am EDT) usually bodes well for helping us to maintain our poise and calm. Libra is, after all, the sign of balance and the scales.  However, achieving an unruffled demeanor may not necessarily be a cakewalk this afternoon, or this evening, with the Moon’s opposition to erratic, rebellious Uranus (2:12 pm EDT) and controlling Pluto (8:12 pm EDT).  Times when we could easily feel more at odds with others, or suddenly more personally challenged to prove ourselves. Still, in the end, it may be wisest to avoid power skirmishes, altogether, and simply try to find some common ground, if at all possible. That seems to be our big homework assignment for today. I’m also thinking here of that fab morsel of wisdom: Never let them see you sweat! Too, we do now have the Sun, Mercury and Venus in secretive, mysterious Scorpio, so we are very capable of camouflage, or going undercover, when it suits our purpose.

Of course, to add a little tortuous salt into the wound today is Mercury in Scorpio’s stubborn sesquiquadrate aspect to quirky, jittery Uranus in impulsive Aries. This influence is good for throwing us some unexpected, or perplexing, intellectual curve balls. It can also poise us to be a bit hasty and or defiant in our judgment. Again, remaining flexible and focused on our intentions and long-term goals, and not giving in to momentary whims or pressures, seems to be the best way for us to proudly predominate over the rogue cosmic forces. 🙂

Venus Sextile Saturn: Romance Blossoms for Aging Baby-Boomers

“There may be snow on the roof, but there’s fire in the furnace!” Unknown Source

COSMIC WEATHER (January 23, 2011)

The Moon wraps up her stay in “pristine” Virgo with an opposition to “loose cannon” Uranus (3:09 pm EST), in “passive-aggressive” Pisces, who is privately toying with the idea of clandestinely tracking mud and dirt all over the Virgo Moon’s freshly-vacuumed carpet, so as to see what kind of wicked response it would elicit from the ole’ nocturnal lady. “Oh, my, Uranus. You are an evil one!” 🙂

Later, the “now-ruffled” Moon finally settles into “last chance for romance” Libra (7:00 pm EST). Party invitations are eloquently text-messaged to aging baby-boomers, desperate for love, to pop on over tonight for an impromptu get-together at the Moon in Libra’s elegant pad. This is because “love goddess” Venus, the ruler of Libra, now in “outgoing” Sagittarius, is exactly sextile to “geriatric” Saturn, in “relationship” Libra, portending the rare, rare opportunity for sudden, wild romance now, for the above 50 crowd. Yes, indeed, it really could happen! Get out there and mingle at the bingo parlor! You sexy thing, you!

“Venus sextile Saturn” is, generally, a more “stabilizing” time for all of us, with respect to our relationships. A period when we are usually also more “receptive” to the idea of commitment. Commitment, of course, often provides us with more of a sense of security (Saturn), which is something that is much more appealing to us now as a concept.

Patricia’s Astrology Horoscope November 2, 2010: Due Diligence

COSMIC WEATHER:

The Orderly, Systematic Virgo Moon reminds us today that we can likely save ourselves headaches and hassles in the future by performing the necessary “due diligence” now.

Too, with the midterm elections being held in the U.S. today, it would behoove us to be knowledgable of the backgrounds of the candidates and how they stand on the issues, before going into the polling booth and casting our votes.

The placement of the Moon in Practical Virgo is always excellent for any kind of in-depth analysis and strategic planning, especially with powerful backup now from the Sun, Mercury, and Venus in investigative, resourceful Scorpio.

Scorpio symbolically rules “the elimination” or “purge process.” Today may be a very good time to purposely “weigh the facts” (Virgo) and then, as a result, prune away whatever is deadweight. (Scorpio)

The Moon’s opposition to Expansive Jupiter in Dreamy Pisces (5:24 pm EDT) also gives us some “creative license” to roam around a while in our imaginations.  Often we can get useful solutions to our everyday problems, too, by bending our “Virgo logic” a little, and going with more of our intuitive, “right brain.” (Pisces)

Later, the opposition to Upsetter Uranus (10:37 pm EDT) awakens us to the possibility of “sudden change.” Change can be daunting, for sure. The probability of change (Uranus), however, is something, too, that we must always take into consideration whenever we are plotting our long-term strategy. Change can be a good thing, as it can transport us out of our “comfort zones” where, if we linger too long, we tend to rot.

But change can also be a dangerous thing if we espouse change, just for the sake of change itself, without considering its many ramifications in our lives.  That is where the “wise, preparatory” Virgo Moon can help us out here today, if we but heed her course.

Today’s Quote for Today:

“Care and diligence bring luck.” Thomas Fuller

This Day in History:

On November 2, 1976, Jimmy Carter defeated Gerald Ford to capture the presidency of the United States. The Moon (governing the populace) was in Escapist, Idealistic Pisces. Energizing Mars was in Transforming Scorpio and in a tight square to Saturn in Leo. Mars square Saturn can signify trying to drive a car (Mars) with the brakes on (Saturn).  It can denote enormous discontent and frustration with the nature of things.  Saturn, too, can represent the incumbent, which in this case was Gerald Ford, and the challenging Mars square to Saturn can make it harder for incumbents to complete their agendas. The energy (Mars) is “at cross purposes” (square) to support the established regime (Saturn).

Mercury, governing the mind, was also in emotionally intense Scorpio and in a tight conjunction to Liberating Uranus. With Mercury-Uranus, we are definitely more ready and willing to entertain the idea of change (Carter), especially when taken into context with the frustrating Mars-Saturn in Leo influence, with Leo ruling leadership. With Saturn in Leo, too, there can be a “fallout” in leadership, as Saturn, under stress, often denotes loss and lack of support. Also, the country, at the time, was still recovering from the disillusioning malaise left from Nixon’s reign, and the economy was also problematic.

Today with the Moon in Work-Ruling Virgo, it would seem that “jobs” and the “lack of them” could be weighing heavy on voters’ minds today.  Perfectionist-seeking Virgo also tends to worry, and is more critical and unforgiving of any missteps, so the voters may be more inclined to view their politicians not only with a little more skepticism and cynicism today, but also with more of an eagerness to “hold them accountable” on their records. Energizer Mars is also in Sagittarius, the sign of politics, and that could make us “much more zealous,” if not combative, in expressing our political views.

Too, we are all still adjusting to a “new order of things,” with Pluto in the early degrees of Capricorn which rules government and hierarchy.  Pluto, as ruler of transforming Scorpio, tends to decimate or bulldoze conditions so new structures can be erected.

Pluto’s ray can also be extremist and fanatical in nature, so we can expect to see more “extreme measures” implemented in government with Pluto in Capricorn. Pluto, too, as part of the purge mindset, “cuts to the bone.” Many presently appear to be upset with what they see as a “bloated government,” and they want to pare it down (Pluto) considerably.

Pluto also rules debt, and with it now in Budget-Conscious Capricorn, debt-consciousness will likely be something that will be permeating the minds of the electorate for a good while to come. Pluto will be in Capricorn till 2025.

Interestingly, President Obama, who is not up for re-election today, has the transiting Warrior Mars in Sagittarius exactly in opposition to his Moon in Gemini now, an aspect which tends to “fire up our emotions,” as the Moon rules our emotional nature and also our nurturing ability.

Again, the Moon, too, represents the public and shows how we interface with it.  Volatile Mars here, signifying the aggressive urge, suggests that Obama may have a “real fight” (Mars) on his hands today when it comes to trying to placate the public (Moon). It could be, too, that he is forced to seriously reflect upon and rethink his own “nurturing or governing style,” (Moon) and also examine and assess how it is being perceived by others, in response to how his party fares in the midterm elections.

COSMIC WEATHER:

The Magical Moon, Mistress of the Night, ends her stay in Immaculate Virgo.  But, before she departs her tidy abode there, she has to pick up after Sloppy Jupiter (10:12 am EDT), and also rein in, “Let me rock your boat” Uranus (12:43 pm EDT), who is lovingly joined at the jaw with Jolly Jupiter in, “Both of you clowns are making me very seasick” Pisces.

Later, the Moon’s descent into Nuptials Libra (3:52 pm EDT) also brings a fair measure of intrigue into the honeymoon suite, as the Moon forms an exact square to “Master Spy” Pluto (8:30 pm EDT), in Big Brother Is Watching You Capricorn. Pluto is intent on bugging the conjugal bedding with a special CIA recording device.

What this may mean for all of us today is: Beware of weird-looking sea creatures with big jaws and try to steer clear of matrimonial spies with X-rated, government-mandated agendas. One more thing: Vacuuming could also become treacherous, if we venture too close to the goldfish bowl.”

On the other hand, if we choose to “go with the flow” and swim above the discord (Jupiter-Uranus), we may be in for quite an exciting time today, and also perhaps gain valuable insight into our own mysterious, inner workings (Pluto). Jupiter-Uranus energy can always be used as a launching pad for our own genius and creativity. Moon-Pluto, too, may provide us with some much-needed clarity regarding what is blocking us from fully enjoying our relationship(s).

Quote of the Day:

“Turbulence is life force.  It is opportunity. Let’s love turbulence and use it for change.” Ramsey Clark

Today’s Affirmation:

I choose to ride the glorious wave of life, wherever it may take me, knowing it is custom-fit to guide me to my soul’s sacred paradise.

Personal update:

As regular readers to this blog may know, last week, when the Sun and Saturn were exactly square to my natal Mars in my chart (an aspect of war), I had an old red oak tree suddenly tip over in my front yard, during a storm, taking along parts of three other trees with it. Today, with Tree-Cutter Mars in Change Things Over Scorpio, exactly conjunct my 8th house cusp of transition, I am having three other trees taken down (this is occurring as I write this).  Two of the trees I am having removed, red oaks again, are leaning too close to my house, and the third tree is the “other half” of the double-leader red oak that fell last week, which is now weakened and needs to come down.

Mars energizes us to action and with it, we must often “do battle,” and that is exactly what is happening in my case.  I am doing battle with my immediate environment out of necessity and for concerns over my physical safety and long-term survival, which Warrior Mars also speaks to.

Mars is also conjunct beautifying Venus in transforming Scorpio and, I do believe, that I am going to be very pleased and inspired by the appearance of my new front yard, when this makeover process is completed today. I also have transiting Pluto, Scorpio’s co-ruler with Mars, exactly opposite my fourth house cusp of the home, which again denotes renewal on the home front.

The fourth house also symbolizes the soul. I do feel that the trees coming down will symbolically allow my soul to move around freer, if that makes any sense. That the trees may have been barriers to my soul’s self-expression. I do really feel this. Right now, when I look out my front windows, my “view” is obstructed. But when the trees are all down, I will be able to “see more clearly” the nature of things and the lay of the land around me.

So I feel very inspired today, as I ride life’s noble wave. And, unless I be remiss, I also give blessings to the fallen trees. They have served me well over the years. They are like old friends. I know they have also kindly buffered my body, mind, and spirit, more than once, with their purposeful protection and wisdom. Shielded me from experiences that I was perhaps not fully ready to receive or understand at the time. They were like brave soldiers standing sentry over me.

But now, with Pluto’s extended naked ray, beaming down upon me, and Mars today in regenerating Scorpio, knocking on Pluto’s/Mars’ front door (the 8th house), it is time for me to do away with the old established guard and journey on. Put down new roots, grow new branches. Spread out beyond my customary borders, while bidding my dear, neighboring companions, who have served as steady fixtures in my life, for over twenty years, a final farewell. And, like Kahlil Gibran, alludes to down below, “thank them for their faithful life’s poetry.”

“Trees are poems that earth writes upon the sky.  We fell them down and turn them into paper, that we may record our emptiness.” Kahlil Gibran
