“If you need something from somebody always give that person a way to hand it to you.”Sue Monk Kidd, The Secret Life of Bees
(Especially applicable today with Lovable Venus in proud Leo square pushy Mars in seductive Scorpio, an aspect that tempts us to take what we want! The Moon also enters dreamy, fairy tale Pisces, 1:23 am EDT, priming us for our Great Escape.)

The Moon in “analytical” Virgo poises us to want to figure things out, or to simply look for the logic in everyday matters. However, it may be trickier to ascertain or collect all the facts today as the probing Scorpio Sun is making an exact square to evasive, foggy Neptune (3:42 pm EST), an aspect which tends to veil or skew our perceptions and, accordingly, can make us a bit more confused. Also, on the shadow side, we are more prone to deception from others – and from ourselves now.
Dreamy Neptune also rules the urge for escape or fantasy, so we may find it harder to comfortably settle down now into our daily routines. One positive way to go with the Neptunian flow may be to immerse ourselves in more creative type projects, such as painting, photography, poetry, song-writing or dancing. Neptune is the planet that governs our imagination.
This evening, the Moon shifts into social Libra (8:17 pm EST) and also makes its monthly opposition to freedom-loving Uranus (9:36 pm EST). This could translate into our suddenly wanting more “wiggle room” in our relationships. This aspect can also give us a penchant for wanting to pair up with more “unconventional types.”
”To know when to go away and when to come closer is the key to any lasting relationship.” ~ Doménico Cieri Estrada
Neptune rules the following: oil, the sea and maritime interests, chemicals, paint, narcotics and drug companies, matters involving spirituality and mysticism, meditation, prayer, the movies and film-making, actors and actresses, songwriters, dancers, poets, painters, martyrs, prisoners, the downtrodden, hospitals, shelters, and places of confinements, scandals and cover-ups, all manner of disguises, swindlers and con-men, addictions and addicts, psychic phenomena, cosmetics, fragrances or perfume, aromatherapy.
Enjoy your Sunday! But, do be careful about drinking too much of the Neptunian Kool-Aid! This, of course, especially applies to the twelve members of the “Super Committee” in Washington. You know, guys, we’re counting on you! (No matter that mental Mercury is also getting ready to go retrograde in “let’s just gloss over the details” Sagittarius. That’s a whole other can of worms!) 🙂

The Moon continues in “fantasy” Pisces, during the day, and is void-of-course (without major aspect) until its entrance into “initiating” Aries later this evening (8:37 pm EDT), suggesting that we wrap up or attend to unfinished business, during the daytime hours, especially activities that allow for the full employment of our creative imagination.
Relationship Venus is also forming an inspiring, 72-degree link (quintile) to “idealistic” Neptune, the ruler of Pisces. This influence helps to awaken more of our heartfelt, tender impulses and it also tends to fuel our “need for fiction,” especially in the romance department. With “dreamy” Venus-Neptune aspects, we are characteristically more willing to overlook and to forgive, and we prefer not to focus upon anything unseemly. Our boundaries with others can also become more blurred, as our compassion is strengthened and our ego needs take a back seat.
Additionally, the Gemini Sun’s square to “wounded warrior” Chiron in Pisces today also acts to raise our sympathy level up a notch and makes us more capable of noble, selfless deeds.
Too, as I am writing this blog, it is being reported that Ratko Mladic, Europe’s most-wanted war crimes fugitive, was arrested today in Serbia (WSJ.com). It could be that this Sun-Chiron influence can also help us to “ferret out evil,” or perhaps galvanize us to deal more with “suffering” (Chiron). When Chiron’s ray is stoked, there is often a “suffering” component to it on some level. When Chiron first entered Pisces, for instance, I remember we had the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico (Pisces rules oil).
On a shadow level, Pisces is also the zodiacal sign that is linked with extremism, terrorism and hidden factions. It is a more complex sign. Embracing both the “saint” and the “sinner.”
Famous Birthdays May 26th:Sally Ride (60), Stevie Nicks (63). BTW, Stevie Nicks has relationship Venus in the mothering sign of Cancer exactly square to her “fantasy” Neptune in partnership Libra, giving her a tendency to always want to see the best in others. It also makes her more capable of self-sacrifice, especially where romance is concerned. Sometimes, too, with Venus-Neptune, we are attracted to more “wounded” types that we can help nurse back to health.
Venus-Neptune is also often a major artistic influence (Neptune rules music) and, of course, Stevie is a divine (Neptune) singer and performer, who nurtures the world (Venus in Cancer) through her extraordinary music. She is also “pioneering” in her approach with her Aries rising.
Enjoy your Thursday!

“Bad human communication leaves us less room to grow.” Rowan D. Williams
The pace of life notably quickens today as the Moon vacates steady Taurus for restless Gemini (7:22 am EDT), the chatty sign of communication. A time when we are more apt to want to articulate our feelings (Moon) and to also want to make “small talk,” and to kid around. The Gemini Moon is normally a period when we heartily enjoy sharing our ready stash of “one-liners.”
(Here’s one: “The man bought his wife a water bed. She calls it the “‘Dead Sea!'”)
As soon as the Moon enters Gemini, she forms a tight square to psychedelic Neptune in dreamy Pisces (7:32 am EDT), so it could be that our early morning communications are a little “spacey,” or somewhat weird or distorted (more chance of some confusion). Although Moon-Neptune does turn the volume up really high on our creative imagination and pleasure-laden fantasies. Soon afterward we also have a chance to showcase our originality, even our genius, when Luna makes an opportunity sextile to liberating, inventive Uranus in adventurous Aries (10:19 am EDT).
Another lunar highlight of the day is the Moon’s buoyant sextile to energizer Mars in Aries (3:56 pm EDT), a time when we will want to be fully engaging both our minds (Gemini) and our bodies (Aries) in things we enjoy. The Moon-Mars link also incites our competitive instincts.
Additionally, we have relationship Venus in idealistic, caring Pisces forming an awkward 150-degree aspect (quinqunx) to hard-liner Saturn in Venus-ruled matrimonial Libra. It could be that we are feeling somewhat uncomfortable or victimized (Pisces) by the demands (Saturn) that others (Libra) are placing on us now. We may need to reach some kind of compromise to preserve the peace (Libra).
Interestingly enough, the “compromising” sign of Libra also rules the U.S. Congress and today things are down to the wire with respect to needing to reach some kind of agreement regarding the federal budget, otherwise ‘nonessential” services of the U.S. govt will be shutting down. Of course, too, Pluto (ruling debt) is getting ready to station retrograde in governmental Capricorn (exact early Saturday EDT), another force at play here. We are also being fed media reports on how a “scaled-down” (purging Pluto) U.S. government would operate. On the other hand, with Sun conjunct “feel good” Jupiter yesterday, the U.S. stock market reached a two-year high. Go figure.
Famous Birthdays April 7:David Frost (72), James Garner (83). This astrologer has had a major, life-long crush on James Garner. It started when I was a child and used to watch him in the hit TV series “Maverick.” Then, later, I watched him in the “Rockford Files.” I always wanted to meet a man like James, but never did. BTW, James Garner was born with the Sun exactly conjunct Jupiter in Aries, the same expansive aspect that we just had yesterday and that I also blogged about. Can’t believe it, James is 83! Hope it’s a good one, Jim. Love ya!

“Having a positive mental attitude is asking how something can be done rather than saying it can’t be done.” Bo Bennett
The bewitching Moon spends her day in optimistic Sagittarius, where she is more inclined to conclude that, “Yes, indeed, the glass is half full!” The early morning hours are best for mental work with the Moon’s trine to logical thinker Mercury ( 8:24 am EDT). The Moon’s tense square to impulsive Mars (11:09 am EDT) also cautions us to “think” before we act.
Later on, our romantic prospects brighten with the Moon’s warm sextile to connection queen Venus (7:03 pm EDT). Our blissful mood continues with the Moon’s magical sextile to dreamy, meditative guru Neptune (9:26 pm EDT), a time to seek out more mystical or creative outlets. Neptune represents our “link to the divine.”
Shortly afterward, the Moon then switches to realistic Capricorn (9:58 pm EDT), forming a potent square to rebellious child Uranus, who could put a disruptive kink into our levitation practices, if we’re not careful. A time when we could also temporarily conclude that the glass is “half empty.” Of course, this need not be the case if we keep our eyes focused on the “bigger picture” and our grander intentions for ourselves.

The empowering Sun conjuncts mystical Neptune. We have a desire to transcend the mundane in our search for deeper meaning. We are also more willing to let our ego needs take a backseat to the needs of others. Neptune is linked with self-sacrifice, even martyrdom. It also rules compassion, as well as our imagination. The keywords for Neptune are: “Serve or suffer.”
Meanwhile, the Moon remains in self-expressive Leo (gearing up for the Full Moon on Friday). Perhaps by helping to raise others up (Neptune in Aquarius), we discover that we also shine (Leo) in the process.
“Only a life lived for others is worth living.”Albert Einstein.
A note of caution: The shadow side of Sun-Neptune tends to put us “in a fog.” It is often harder to see things clearly. We are also more prone to deception (either from self or others), and disillusionment. So we may want to keep more of a detached air about us, and stay more focused on facts rather than fantasy.
On a collective level, too, Sun-Neptune has historically been associated with “extremism” or “fanaticism,” especially religious fanaticism. This is mainly because with Sun-Neptune, we often feel that we are carrying out a “higher agenda” and therefore have carte blanche to do whatever we feel we need to do in order to further our perceived noble causes. Neptune also rules persecution. It additionally represents groups that are disenfranchised or down on their luck. The impoverished. People who traditionally have not had a voice.
With that said, this is highly creative energy, today and tomorrow, especially with the theatrical Leo Moon also at play. Too, Neptune rules visual images. Our ability for positive visualization is, therefore, very keen now. We may also want to pay closer attention to our Neptune-ruled dreams for pivotal clues to our subconscious meanderings.
“All the things one has forgotten scream for help in dreams.”Elias Canetti
Neptune’s colors are turquoise, green, and magenta. To tune into Neptune’s meditative ray, we may want to wear and or surround ourselves now with these colors. Also, we might consider burning incense and putting on soft, soothing music. Creating a more contemplative environment in our homes. Water therapy is also ideal, as Neptune rules liquids, gels, and the sea. Given that the Moon is also in entertaining Leo, we may want to take in a play or movie, or attend a concert.
Famous Birthdays February 17th: Michael Jordan (48), Paris Hilton (30), Gene Pitney (would have been 71)
“Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.” Michael Jordan
On a personal note, I will be away from this blog for a few days. Taking a little “escapist” Neptunian break. 🙂

“Reality is merely an illusion, although a very persistent one.” Albert Einstein
COSMIC WEATHER:
The Analytical Virgo Sun is under siege from “Jolly” Jupiter, “Ants In Your Pants” Uranus, and “Please, Just Let Me Fade Away” Neptune. Needless to say, there will be very little down time today for the Sun to help “Mental” Mercury in Virgo figure out crossword puzzles.
The Nocturnal Moon also finishes up her stay in “Friendly” Aquarius and is suppose to be meeting up with “Spacey” Neptune (9:09 am EDT) herself, before she leaves the sign, but she is concerned “as usual” that Neptune will either be a “no-show” or will just “keep her waiting” again.
Not to worry, however, as the Moon will be sinking into Neptune’s “Fishy” Pisces Moon sea in a little while anyway (4:15 pm EDT), where things are sure to get interesting with both Jupiter and Uranus conjoined together at the hip there. One of those days where “mermaids may rule” and logic could fly out the window. Also, throw in a little Uranian revolt for good measure.
NEWS UPDATE:
Breaking “Fishy” news story: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is reportedly considering whether to approve “genetically-altered” salmon that are injected with a “growth-hormone” to a make them reach full size in half the time that it takes normal salmon to reach adulthood.
This news report today comes on the heels of: 1) the fishy Pisces Moon; 2) the Virgo (Health) Sun’s fishy quinqunx to Neptune, ruler of the sea in scientific Aquarius; 3) the Jupiter and Uranus exact conjunction in fishy Pisces now; and 4) the Virgo Sun’s opposition to Jupiter and Uranus in salmon-fishing Pisces.
Jupiter “over-sizes” whatever it touches and Uranus, and Aquarius, the sign it rules, governs “scientific and technological” advances. Therefore, it’s easy to make the leap: Jupiter+Uranus in Fishy Pisces = Bigger, fatter, genetically-altered fish! I must add, too, that last night, when I was thinking about what to write for this blog for today, I was considering calling it “Fish Revolt” playing on the Uranus in Pisces theme (and the Sun’s opposition to rebel Uranus). When I heard this news story today, I was thinking it was maybe somewhat of a “clairvoyant thought” on my part to call it “Fish Revolt.” It could be the fish are also ticked about this genetic-tampering and they will wage a revolt! Too, I was just thinking that the “fish revolt” I was picking up, could be the fact that a lot of people are “revolted” by the idea of eating altered fish. I think that’s it!
It’s so fascinating, too, that the Sun is now in health-ruling Virgo opposite Jupiter and Uranus in fishy Pisces and the Sun is also quinqunx Neptune in genetically-altering Aquarius. This advanced biotechnology with fish is already raising big Virgo health concerns! Too, opposition aspects often trigger events. I was looking for some “big news” with the Sun opposition and I believe this is it. Of course, we also had the official pronouncement on Sunday that BP “blown-out oil well” in the Gulf of Mexico is now “dead.”
Personal note: I’m being flagged by “real life” obligations that will have me, unfortunately, checking in here with my “daily horoscope” on a “less than daily basis” for a while. I’ll still be here, but probably only “once or twice” a week. Anybody need a Kleenx? Will miss you.

“It is our illusions that create the world.” Didier Cauwelaert
COSMIC WEATHER:
We need to watch ourselves “closely” today, as we may be invaded by all kinds of “weird, strange ideas” via the Sun’s queer “quinqunx” aspect to “I’m Purely A Figment Of Your Imagination” Neptune. Anytime Sun-Neptune pair up, things get a little “foggy” for us. Our judgment “gets cloudy.” There’s also ample opportunity to become “big time delusional” with this duo, as our imagination can easily “overtake us.” However, we also need to clarify here that this “delusional thinking” thing does NOT extend to our thoughts and feelings about George Clooney and also his feelings for us. We’re crazy about George Clooney and we know for a fact that he feels the same way about us! Don’t you, George?
Another spooky realm with Sun-Neptune is people “lying to us,” or at least “stretching the truth.” We also would be wise, ourselves, not to tell any “big lies” to others today, as there could be “serious fall-out” for us later, if we do. (Notice how I also said “big lies.” “Small lies” or “white lies,” are perfectly acceptable to tell and generally “unavoidable” and “needed” in the course of daily living to preserve the peace and save face, don’t you agree? Especially telling white lies about our age, weight, and whether we’ve had cosmetic surgery. Of course we’re going to “lie” about all those things! Also another acceptable lie: “Honey, do I look fat in this dress?” “No, you look great! (big fate lie!).” I did, however, date a guy once who did “lie” to me about his age and, frankly, that did bother me quite a bit. He kept the lie going to me, too, for several years, before I finally found out that he was actually five years older than what he originally told me. Felt like a fool when I did find this out and also very deceived. What other crap did he lie to me about? So, maybe it’s a “bad thing” for “men” to lie about their ages, but still “okay” for “women” to lie about their ages. Or maybe men can lie about their ages, too, but they need to come clean about this lie in a reasonable period of time. What do you think?)
On the bright side today, we do also have, perhaps, a “tighter grip on reality,” this go-round with Sun-Neptune, because the Moon is now in “Objective” Aquarius, which is suppose to endow us with miraculous ability to “coolly detach” from our emotions and thoughts. Let’s hope that this “detached ability” comes through for us today. On the plus side, too, Sun-Neptune can be highly creative. And, it also has strong “mystical overtones” to it.
As always, with the “Progressive, Group-Friendly” Aquarian Moon, this is a good time to immerse ourselves in social activities with friends, clubs, or perhaps partake in humanitarian outlets, which would be a very good thing for all of us to do. Too, with the “spacey” Sun-Neptune vibe, some of us may want to retrieve our hippie beads and bell bottoms and form a “temporary commune” maybe out in our back yards. Channel “fond memories” (at least what we can still recall) from the “good ole’ days.”
“Don’t trust anyone over thirty.”
“Make love, not war.”
“Tune in, drop out.”
“What’s your sign, man?”
“That’s groovy!”
Celebrity Birthday: Bill Medley of The Righteous Brothers is having his 70th birthday today. Bill was born with his Sun, Mars, and Neptune tightly conjunct in Virgo. His Virgo planets are also harmoniously trine to Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus, all conjunct together in Taurus, which rules the voice. And, what a heavenly voice Bill has.
Was talking earlier in the blog about “Sun-Neptune” and how we had to “watch out” for this aspect today, as it can sometimes do “strange things to our psyches, including hijacking them, at least temporarily.” Well, while the “shadow side” of this aspect can incite delusional thoughts, stimulate ego-denying experiences, and generate other assorted difficulties in various and sundry ways, the upside to it is that it can also be a “phenomenally creative” aspect.
If you’re a musician, singer, painter, actor, photographer, film-maker, or dancer, Sun-Neptune is one of the best aspects to have because it gives a fertile imagination and the ability to visualize and conceptualize, often to the point of genius. It also gives incredible “psychic sensitivity,” and can make one deeply compassionate.
Bill’s Energizing Mars also conjoins his Sun-Neptune, intensifying his creative instincts even more. Elvis Presley had his Mars-Neptune midpoint exactly conjunct his midheaven (10th house of career). With Mars-Neptune, or Sun-Neptune, there is natural ability to be able to almost “hypnotically connect” with the public. It’s a very mesmerizing, dreamy aspect, especially for an entertainer or performer to have. And we want our entertainers to be able to transport us to “other realms” through their craft, don’t we? That’s all part of the imaginative “Neptunian” experience. So next time you “get lost” in a song, realize that you’re having a “Neptune” moment. Embrace the magic of it. Let it “set you free.”
NEWS UPDATE:
With the Sun exactly quinqunx Neptune today (Neptune rules the sea and oil), WSJ.com is reporting that BP’s blown-out oil well in the Gulf of Mexico has been declared “dead.” The 150 degree quinqunx aspect indicates an “altered” or “adjusted” state. In this case, part of the sea’s terrain (the oil well) is “adjusted.”
Also notable here is the exact Jupiter and Uranus’ conjunction in Neptune-ruled Pisces which can indicate “breakthroughs” (in the “Pisces sea”). So two powerful forces at play here.
Additionally, we have the powerfully energizing Mars in Scorpio sextile to healing Pluto, an aspect denoting “transformation” and “release.” (Pluto also rules wells and “depth experiences.”) Knowing that this well is now “dead” (a Scorpio state) will hopefully spawn a ” transformational healing” process in many, including the sea itself.
Also, WSJ.com is reporting that Sahara India Pariwar is in talks to buy Metro-Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) for more than $2 billion dollars. This story also ties in with the Sun quinqunx Neptune today and the Jupiter conjunct Uranus in Pisces, as Neptune and Pisces rule film-making studios and motion pictures. The Jupiter-Uranus conjunction can bring about “sudden developments” and “new opportunities.”

COSMIC WEATHER:
The Moon finishes up her dreamy stay in “Wish Upon A Star” Sagittarius but not before encountering a couple of snags in the guise of the Unpredictable Uranus and Over-Confident Jupiter. What this all means is that we may need to “temper our impulses” today and try to “flow with any changes” instead of trying to resist them.
The ingress of the Moon into “I Want It All” Capricorn (4:30 pm EDT) puts us into a more “material” frame of mind and with a resourceful sextile to Energetic Mars in Shrewd Scorpio we can see the realization of our practical goals (5:44 pm EDT).
Feeling a “heady sense” of our own power is also probable with the Moon’s conjunction with “Power-Grabber” Pluto (9:52 pm EDT). Of course, for some of us on the east coast, this “sense of power” may arise when we are already tucked away “under the covers,” which could prove kind of interesting. Especially with “Sexual” Mars now in “Passionate, Controlling” Scorpio, alongside “Innocent, Love Maven” Venus.
News Update: With Jupiter (ruling religious figures) exactly conjoined Controversial Uranus in Spiritual Pisces, Pope Benedict XVI is poised to make a trip to the UK on Thursday that is drawing a lot of attention and criticism.
