Cosmic Weather:

Precise, logical Mercury in Virgo meets up with foggy, dissolving Neptune in Pisces today (3:18 am), the ruler of the fishy sea, and the planet of our imagination and phantom representations (or misrepresentations, including deception), so our thinking, reasoning, communications, and overall mental alertness may be a bit askew now. Or, significantly askew! – depending upon our own individual make-up, inclinations, or factory-type settings, and how we may choose to ride out this tricky, elusive, illusionary energy. (Mercury-Neptune is often associated with half-truths, missing or erroneous information.)

Suffice it to say, today may not be the best time for attending to the highly-detailed type of work and exacting calculations that Mercury in Virgo so inherently relishes; however, it is likely a very inspiring time to unleash the power of our own creativity and see how many dots we can, perhaps, lusciously disconnect. 🙂

It’s highly doubtful, though, that our brain stem and the rest of us will actually “float away” and vanish into thin air, this Saturday, as waxing, prescient Luna has already seemed to have adeptly planned for this cosmic event and has, thereby, chosen to deftly extricate herself from “adventurous” Sagittarius, for the remainder of the weekend, and instead, has securely deposited her sleek, form-fitting derriere into “doubting naysayer” Capricorn (6:37 am) where skepticism is king.

Favored activities today: Reading or writing fiction/poetry; acting, dancing, singing, painting, photography; water therapy/water massage; dream interpretation; studying mysticism or religion; developing our intuition; engaging in outlets that sensitize us to the feelings or needs of others or that allows us to show our compassionate side.

*All times EDT

Born on This Day: Grandma Moses (Anna Mary Robertson Moses) in 1860 in Greenwich, New York. An American folk artist, she began painting in earnest at the age of 78 and is often cited as an example of an individual who successfully began a career in the arts at an advanced age. She died in 1961 at 101. (Wikipedia)

In her birthchart, Moses had Mercury and Saturn almost exactly conjunct (one degree) in detail-oriented Virgo, which is typically excellent for deep yet highly pragmatic thinking as well as keen concentration or focus. She also had her artistic Venus in dynamic Leo and in a two-degree trine to imaginative Neptune Rx in the last degree of Pisces, suggesting a real, natural flow of artistic energy. Her Moon (emotions) was also in endlessly curious and youthful Gemini and conjunct progressive, inventive Uranus.

“If I hadn’t started painting, I would have raised chickens.” Grandma Moses

Hope it’s a good one!

Cosmic Weather:

Sometimes, things are so easy or obvious for us to perceive. Other times, however, it seems a real struggle to even see or detect what’s smack right in front of us! Kind of like we have blinders on or something. Today, with the Sun in bright, shiny Leo awkwardly aligned with foggy, dissipating Neptune (8:44 pm), there’s a possibility that we’ll be impacted by more of the latter type of scenario now.

The tricky thing about illusionary, deceptive Neptune, too, is that it’s wishful ray often makes us see only what we want to see, instead of what’s really there. It’s kind of like we erect an invisible wall or barrier up around us and only allow certain elements to our liking to filter through it. It could be, too, that we’re a bit weary now, and need a rest.

On the shadow side, Sun-Neptune can also sometimes make us feel more disillusioned with our lives, partly because we may be feeling, overall, less grounded now. For instance, things that we may have turned to earlier for anchoring or support, we may sense now that they are somehow passing away from us, and we may be unsure of how to handle their removal or disintegration in our lives, or what exactly to replace them with. Too, part of the lesson (or gift) of today’s Sun-Neptune energy is to perhaps teach us how to live (thrive) in the face of the various uncertainties or ambiguities that are a normal part of life on the Earth plane.

Anyway, since it’s a Saturday, it might be an ideal time to just chill out and take it easy. It’s not like we have to do heavy lifting every day of the week! Plus, Sun-Neptune is potentially very advantageous for any creative, artistic, or imaginative outlets (give our intuitive right brains a nice workout). This energy can also help sensitize us to others now, especially with respect to what they’re feeling or going through.

Additionally, it’s the 10th day of the month, or a “one day,” numerologically, which does suggest there’s quite a bit of power or dynamism to the day (despite the elusive Neptunian element), as the life-giving Sun rules the number one. Normally, on “one” days, we feel like initiating something new. Perhaps, just breaking with our normal routines and doing something out of the ordinary now might be a good way to express ourselves, this weekend (also simultaneously helping to create more of a sense of spaciousness around us). The Moon is also still in adventurous Sagittarius, all day, so our emotional receptivity to experiencing new things is still quite high.

*All times EDT

On This Day in History: On August 10, 1960, the Los Angeles premiere of Alfred Hitchcock’s (iconic) “Psycho” film starring Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh occurs.

Not surprisingly, in the sky that day, energizer Mars, at 5 degrees of cerebral Gemini, was exactly square to intensely suspenseful Pluto, the Grand Master of the macabre,  at 5 degrees of perfecting Virgo.

Jupiter was also retrograde in visionary Sagittarius and applying to a flowing, two-degree trine to Uranus, the planet of genius, in motion-picture Leo.

Hope it’s a good one!

clarity, imagination, Jeannette Rankin begins her first term in Congress, Mercury conjunct Neptune, Moon in Pisces

Cosmic Weather:

“If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is – infinite.” William Blake

With the Moon ensconced in imaginative Pisces, all day, the astrological sign symbolizing transcendence or the domain of the infinite, and logical Mercury exactly conjunct Neptune, the ruler of Pisces (for the third and final time), today decidedly has an otherworldly or more mystical vibe to it!

Meaning, in part, that our more practical day-to-day concerns also tend to be glossed over or subjugated now in favor of reeling in our dreams, visions, or fantasies. In other words, this is an excellent time for crafting the big picture view of how we would like our future to be. Perhaps not as good, though, for penciling in all the logistical details regarding how we’re specifically going to be running our exquisite kingdoms or queendoms. 🙂 Additionally, the Pisces energy is also positive for dissolving differences, or for working more in unison with others.

Of course, since this is also the conclusion of the three-part Mercury and Neptune meetup – which also sort of feels like some kind of TV docudrama, at this point! – we should be receiving some parting insight, or guidance, or clarity now regarding the meaning or purpose of this particular planetary aspect in our lives. It’s like the Neptunian veil is finally lifting and we’re able to peek and see what’s behind it! It could be an illusion or delusion is revealed. Or maybe a cryptic message or communication becomes clearer. Or, perhaps, something that has been withheld by us, or from us, possibly out of fear, comes out of the shadows and dances into the light.

Famous April 2 Birthdays: Charlemagne, Giacomo Casanova, Hans Christian Andersen, Alec Guiness, Marvin Gaye, Leon Russell, Emmylou Harris

“Every man’s life is a fairy tale written by God’s fingers.” Hans Christian Andersen

On This Day in History: On April 2, 1917, Jeannette Rankin (b. 6/11/1880) begins her term as the first woman elected to the U.S. Congress. Rankin, a staunch women’s activist, also helped pass the 19th Amendment, giving women the right to vote.

“What one decides to do in crisis depends on one’s philosophy of life, and that philosophy cannot be changed by an incident. If one hasn’t any philosophy in crises, others make the decision.” Jeannette Rankin

“Remember your connection with the cosmos. Remember your connection with the infinity and that remembrance will give you the freedom.” Amit Ray

We begin our Monday with thinker Mercury sextile to transcendent Neptune (exact at  8:19 am.) With logical Mercury and imaginative Neptune paired up now, our creative juices are potentially flowing more easily. A good day, perhaps, to tap into our inner artist. To wax poetic. We also may be sensing a clearer pipeline to the Divine. Or to our Source, Spirit. Whatever you want to call it. I know someone who fondly refers to the concept of a higher power as the “Big Enchilada.” I actually kinda like that description. It’s friendly. More approachable. Humorous. And laughter is something that is always very healing for the soul!

On Mercury-Neptune days, we may feel more of a need to simply be alone with our thoughts. To sift through our dreams, hopes, and wishes. We may also want to check in with our intuition to see what kind of guidance or teaching it may have for us now. See how our outer life is mirroring, or not mirroring, what’s going on inside of us. Find out whether or not we’re living with integrity.

The waxing Moon is also still in the last couple degrees of active Aries the Ram, in the morning, and it’s forming a conjunction to wacky, rebellious Uranus (10:56 am). Buckling down and putting our noses to the grindstone could be a bit trickier now. Later, the Moon will shift into steady, stable Taurus the Bull (1:31 pm) and remain in this calming sign until late Wednesday evening. Conforming is easier now. This also primes us to enjoy the finer things in life, over the next two days. Taurus represents our values and what holds meaning for us. It’s also a time for building or consolidating our energies.

“So few want to be rebels anymore. And out of those few, most, like myself, scare easily.” Ray Bradbury

*All times EST.

Hope you enjoy your day! Do your own Uranian thing! Be groovy and cool, man. 🙂

“The world of reality (Saturn) has its limits; the world of imagination (Neptune) is boundless.” Jean-Jacques Rousseau

Mercury, Saturn, Pluto, and the South Node are all ensconced in responsible Capricorn now. We also have the annual, intense Sun-Pluto conjunction, tomorrow. But all this doesn’t necessarily mean that we can’t put aside those early January “to-do lists” or whatever and take a breather to re-charge our body, mind, and spirit. With Luna streaming through dreamy, reflective, otherworldy Pisces, all day, it’s a perfect time to re-focus our energies on activities or outlets that enlist our imagination, dreams, creativity, as well as humanity. Too, as most of us know, when we stay focused on what’s in front of us, we keep getting more of the same. But when we dare to hang out in the boundless, endless sphere of our imagination, that’s where we really have the chance to thrive and create a brand new world or paradigm for ourselves. “We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.” Kurt Vonnegut

Famous January 10 Birthdays: Rod Stewart, George Foreman, Pat Benatar, Jim Croce

“What I do now is all my dad’s fault, because he bought me a guitar, for no apparent reason.” Rod Stewart.

On This Date in History: On January 10, 1956 Elvis Presley records “Heartbreak Hotel”.

The transiting Sun in Capricorn was sextile to Elvis’ lucky Jupiter in Scorpio that day. Transiting Pluto was also in rock star Leo and trining innovative Uranus, in pioneering Aries, in Elvis’ 5th house of creative expression – a potent planetary aspect that helped to transform (Pluto) his world through the expression of his electrifying and unique talents and gifts (Uranus). He also had that latter, more long-term Pluto-Uranus aspect, at play, all through 1956, when he released a lot of other classics including “Love Me Tender” and “Hound Dog”.

Hope you have a very lovely, rejuvenating day. Dream big! All the way to the Pisces Moon.

“The very least you can do in your life is figure out what you hope for. And the most you can do is live inside that hope. Not admire it from a distance but live right in it, under its roof.” Barbara Kingsolver

Communications flow more seamlessly today, and are steeped with inspiration, as articulate Mercury trines idealistic Neptune, an aspect that also aligns us with our long-term vision and the hopes that we hold for our life, as well as for the people that we love. There’s also more of a willingness and ability now, to step inside another person’s shoes, and see what that person is thinking and feeling – something which can also lead to a deeper sense of connection and trust between people.  The late Stephen R. Covey referred to trust as the “glue of life,” and said that it was the “foundational principle that holds all relationships.”

Because Mercury also rules contracts, when it’s aligned with the more surrendering, diffusive, unifying Neptunian energy, we also see, sometimes, more of an inclination to sign, or at least negotiate, peace treaties, or other similar kinds of agreements. Too, Mercury-Neptune carries a strong creative component, making it an ideal time to work on projects that require the use of our imagination or envisioning skills.

The waning Crescent Moon also remains in curious, breezy Gemini, all day, making harmonious aspects to Uranus (originality), 8:50 am, Jupiter (optimism), 3:21 pm, and Venus (love and our power attraction), 11:31 pm.

Cosmic Quote of the Day: “Without leaps of imagination or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning.” Gloria Steinem

Everything originates with a dream or a vision. That’s why it’s so important, if we want to grow our world, that we intentionally work on being a possibility type thinker, an idea person, someone who is able to see beyond the present scope of things to imagine a better way, a brighter day. The Mars trine Neptune energy, that is exact today (6:43 pm), is ideal for doing this kind of envisioning because it naturally inspires us to actively (Mars) dream (Neptune) about the future, as well as encouraging us to take present day action on our dreams. Neptune symbolizes our imagination and vision, while Mars represents our desires and motivation. On another level, this Mars-Neptune energy can sensitive us more to our surroundings, as well as increase the intuitive bond that we share with the people around us.

Curved Path

(Today’s planetary aspects: Rational Mercury squares evasive Neptune; impatient Mars quinqunxes restraining Saturn; the Moon is in corrective Virgo; and yesterday’s reform-oriented Jupiter-Uranus trine, is still in effect. )

Cosmic Quote of the Day: “There is stability in walking an uncertain path, because you never allow yourself to be misled by what you think you know.” A. J. Darkholme

When we do presume to know the “lay of the land,” we do tend to naturally let our guard down. Or, are possibly more apt to relax our critical judgment as we figure we will probably not be encountering too many surprises or other stuff we cannot handle. However, sometimes it is that very “I got this” attitude that can end up leading us down a more precarious path.

With today’s energy, especially the trickier Mercury-Neptune connection, which can sometimes serve to distort, delete, or cloak the facts, it may be very advantageous for us to not take anything for granted now, and to be extra vigilant regarding some of the situations which we find ourselves. That vigilance may be arrived at by doing such practical things as double-checking stuff, asking for clarity when in doubt, making sure others understand what we’re trying to communicate to them, refraining from automatically accepting things at face value. Fortunately, the Moon deposited in logical Virgo, all day, can serve as a healthy filter to help us wade through the obscuring Neptunian fog. Too, this can be a great day to do any creative work that calls for employing the power of our imagination.  Meanwhile, the Mars-Saturn quinqunx influence may also require us to justify our actions, especially to those who are in charge. One of my favorite astrologers, Lilly Roddy, said in her daily blog today, that we may want to just use this day as a “mental health day,” and chill out with movies and snacks, while planning for tomorrow. Also sounds like a good strategy!

Famous Birthdays June 23: Randy Jackson, Clarence Thomas, Richard Bach.

“You’re never given a dream without also being given the power to make it true.” Richard Bach, The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah.

On a personal note, I’ve been absent from this blog for the last three months, mainly due to my workload. Hopefully, though, I’ll be able to be around here with more regularity in the future.

Hope you enjoy your day!

astrology for august 3 2012, dreams, imagination, Martha Stewart birthday august 3, Martha Stewart horoscope, meditation, Moon conjunct Neptune, Moon in Pisces, seance

COSMIC WATCH:

“Reality can be beaten with enough imagination.” Mark Twain

Today may be a little easier for our imagination to trump reality with the Moon diving into the fantasy waters of Pisces (9:58 am EDT). The Moon is also making its monthly conjunction with dreamy Neptune (2:04 pm EDT), Pisces’ ruler. Moon-Neptune is excellent for meditation, psychic development, and spiritual work and also for any activity that calls for creative visualization. “Visualize, ‘prayerize’, ‘actionize’, and your wishes will come true.” Charles L. Allen

Tonight, the Moon sextiles makeover Pluto (11:16 pm EDT), an emotionally recharging influence that is also good for recycling / refurbishing projects on the home front. Or for mending / transforming relations with family members or women. On another level, this same Moon-Pluto energy may be a good time to have a seance, as Pluto is also the planet of transitioning.

Too, it could be that our night dreams (ruled by Neptune and Pisces) provide us with a perfect portal now for those loved ones who have crossed over to drop by and visit. “All I am trying to do is not join my ancestral spirits just yet.” Joshua Nkomo 🙂

Famous August 3 Birthdays: Jay North, Martha Stewart. “All the things I love is what my business is all about.” Martha Stewart.

BTW, Martha, a colorful Leo Sun, has her natal Mercury (thinking) exactly sextile to her Neptune (imagination) which is probably why she has such a keen eye for beauty (Neptune is the higher octave of Venus) and is also so gifted at being able to visualize or conceptualize things in her head. This aspect can give much talent for photography, film-making, writing, and even acting. Her Mercury is also in Cancer which would tend to focus her thoughts on food and the home. Her Neptune is in precise, perfecting Virgo, which also governs work.

What are you envisioning for yourself in the future?

Astrology May 20, 2012: New Moon Solar Eclipse in Gemini

COSMIC WATCH:

“After being in Harry Potter, I believe a bit more in magic than I did before.” Rupert Grint

We just may be able to magically pull a few rabbits out of the hat with the New Moon/Solar Eclipse at 0 degrees of clever Gemini (7:47 pm EDT), the sign of thinking, communication, travel and transportation. New Moons herald new beginnings. Since this one is also a Solar Eclipse its impact is ramped up and extended (3 to 6 months).

Those most affected by this event will likely have planets within 5 degrees of the 0 degree mark of the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces). The house (area of life) that this eclipse is falling in will provide the backdrop for this new start.

This lunation, which is a conjunction of the Sun and Moon, forms a tight square to psychedelic Neptune in oceanic Pisces.  Suggesting that we may be doing a little bit of skinny dipping into the fertile waters of our imagination now to write this new chapter in our life. But, watch out! There’s no telling what may wash ashore with the curious Sun and Moon in Gemini being whimsically guided by master magician Neptune. If things appear too good to be true now, they probably are. Especially the glorious vision of George Clooney begging us to sail away with him on the Good Ship Lollipop for ole’ times sake. 🙂

Perennially a temptation with Neptune is a tendency to engage in wishful thinking. We also do not care to be reminded now that a rose also has a thorny stem.  Gemini is a very cerebral sign, however, aligned with Neptune our emotions and dreaminess tends to permeate our thoughts and reasoning.

Someone who has seemingly managed to masterfully integrate his imagination and idealism into his life’s work and self-expression is Paul McCartney. In a way, Paul is a good template for this eclipse as he not only has “magical mystery tour” Neptune exactly conjunct his Virgo Ascendant (how he views the world), he is also a Gemini Sun and Neptune exactly squares his Sun (what we have now). Granted, Paul is a rare, musical genius and most of us are not quite so gifted, but we still do all have the ability to pick up that pole and go fishing within for the true answers.  Who knows, it could be that we come upon a boatload of inspiration to move us forward. Neptune, at its highest level, symbolizes transcendence and enlightenment.

Too, intellectual Mercury, the ruler of Gemini, is conjunct fortuitous Jupiter now. Both are together in grounded Taurus. This bodes well for our ability to not only think big but to also manifest what we see before us in our mind’s eye. The trick being, with the Moon and Sun in restless Gemini square fairy-tale Neptune, we will probably need to carefully pace ourselves and aim to bring one vision at a time to a satisfactory completion. Otherwise, we run the risk of going adrift because we do not have our sail cast in any particular direction.

New Moon in Gemini activities: writing, blogging, reading, reporting, speaking, teaching, attending classes or lectures, short trips, sightseeing, visits with neighbors or siblings, sales, open air concerts, shopping for autos, cell phones, books.

What do you fantasize about? What fantasy would you most like to see come true for yourself? How committed are you to making your dreams reality?

Happy Eclipse Blessings!
