Cosmic Weather:

“Reciprocity is a deep instinct; it is the basic currency of social life.” Jonathan Haidt

Venus in Aries sextiles Mars in Gemini (7:17 am) – A very nice supportive aspect for expressing affection, fostering a harmonious sense of give-and-take. Too, we may find that our personal plans get a positive shot in the arm. Also, helps to boost creativity, sex appeal!

Waning Luna, now in her Last Quarter, is also nestled in non-conforming Aquarius. We are more willing to embrace the experimental. Punch holes in our comfort zones.

Moon sextile Sun in Aries (4:39 pm) – Helps to assuage inner conflicts. Our sense of purpose and heart are both in it together. Involvement in group activities or social causes can be very renewing.

Moon trine Mars in Gemini (9:55 pm) – A good fit for tackling physical projects. More energizing emotionally.

Numerologically, we are looking at a double-decker today (4/6/2021): Double sixes! Perfect tie-in to the flowing Venus-Mars energy that the Universe is lovingly showering upon us now. The number six, which in the Tarot represents The Lovers card, is regarded as the most romantic of all numbers. It’s also auspicious for healing, nurturing, family matters, and generating domestic bliss!

On This Day in History:
On April 6, 1896, the first modern Summer Olympic Games open in Athens, Greece. The games attracted just 245 competitors, of whom more than 200 were Greek, and only 14 countries were represented. Nevertheless, no international events of this magnitude had been organized before. Female athletes were not allowed to compete, though one woman, Stamata Revithi, ran the marathon course on her own, saying “If the committee doesn’t let me compete, I will go after them regardless.” About 100,000 people attended the opening of the games.  (Wikipedia)
Astrologically, that day, when the Games kicked off, “athletic” Mars was in collective-minded Aquarius and exactly trining wounded healer Chiron in more socially aware Libra. The pioneering Aries Sun was also separating from an exact sextile to envisioning Neptune in limb, versatile Gemini, an influence that can inspire us to creatively chase our dreams. Or maybe even jump after them: American athlete James Connolly Olympic became the first modern Olympic champion when he won the triple jump.
Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Cosmic Weather:

“The beginning is the most important part of the work.” – Plato

With the empowering Sun now nestled in the latter degrees of adventurous Aries, the zodiacal sign of “personal new beginnings,” there appears to be more of an urgent desire now to want to push ourselves forward with even more vigor or energy so we can quickly get done many of the projects that are still remaining on our “to-do list,” before time runs out.

Today, the Waning Moon is also in progressive, humanitarian Aquarius, all day, perhaps supplying us with a more emotionally detached or objective perspective that also allows us to consider our lives or personal interests within the confines of a much broader social context. While Luna in Uranus-ruled Aquarius often enjoys or gravitates towards involvement in outlets that advance the collective as a whole, there is also still likely a strong desire for simultaneously preserving individual freedoms or liberties at this time.

Additionally, the Aquarian Moon is an excellent period for experimentation, scientific research, and or fashioning such things as social reforms or new protocols, especially since we also have the ruler of the Aries Sun, assertive Mars, still transiting through Aquarius.

Cosmic Weather:

A warm, amiable Sun-Venus conjunction in creative Leo (ideally) magnifies our wants and desires, our popularity, our artistic expression, our orientation towards cooperation, love, harmony, and celebration. This is a very lovely influence that can really make us want to beautify our life, our appearance, our surroundings. Natally, when people have Sun conjunct Venus in their charts, they’re usually very adept at being able to smooth things over, to make connections with others. Occurring in Leo, too, there can be quite a bit of flair for fashion, for drama or the theatrical, for attracting attention to ourselves in a potent, charming, or charismatic way.

On the flip side, however, this same Sun-Venus conjunction also forms an awkward quinqunx to investigative Pluto in “no-frills” (Saturn-ruled) Capricorn, which could potentially serve to temporarily arouse our suspicions or find us probing deeper into the shadows, looking for what may be broken, disturbed, or, seemingly, just “not quite right,” below the surface. This is not necessarily a bad thing – maybe more like performing a maintenance check or a diagnostic on our system after sensing something might be a bit off.

The waxing Moon is also in emotionally detached Aquarius today, which can help us to see things in a more intellectual light. This position for Luna can also incline us to be more experimental or non-conforming in our approach to matters. Sometimes, too, with Luna here we’re more willing to espouse or rally behind social or humanitarian causes.

Too, since we have a Full Moon in Aquarius tomorrow, we may really be getting a strong sense of things building up or culminating now. Full Moons tend to supply us with more illumination, or greater awareness. Occurring in Aquarius, too, perhaps we’re trying to figure out now our unique, special place in the world (Sun in Leo), where we can really shine but also, at the same time, give back something meaningful to the collective (Moon in Aquarius).

Numerologically, the day (8-14-2019) reduces down to a 5 (Mercury-ruled) and 7 (Neptune-ruled), so we do have a pronounced “changeability” or “back and forth” vibe going on, and a boost of mental stimulation. But, also a strong desire for dreams and inspiration.

“And I am all the things I have ever loved: scuppernong wine, cool baptisms in silent water, dream books and number playing.” Toni Morrison

On This Day in History: On August 14, 1965, Sonny and Cher’s “I Got You Babe” hits #1.

Hope it’s a good one!

Cosmic Weather:

“Faith does not need to push the river because faith is able to trust that there is a river. The river is flowing. We are in it.” Richard Rohr

The waning Moon exits detached Aquarius and shifts into transcendent Pisces (10:48 am), potentially creating more of a desire now for inner peace, disengagement, and, perhaps, relying more on our faith, over the next couple days.

However, about midday, today, the Moon also forms a square to assertive Mars, newly-deposited in quickening Gemini (12:44 pm). At this time, we may temporarily feel compelled to want to push or force matters along. It could maybe be due to a perceived need for defensive posturing. Or, perhaps, we’re simply exhibiting an overreaction to something cropping up in the moment that leaves us feeling a little unsettled. It’s possible, too, that an expectation that we had for something is also not being met. Or, it may be none of the above! 🙂

Anyway, in order to get back into the composure groove, we might find it best to just take a momentary pause, if possible. Try to get away from whatever is possibly pulling our trigger. Fortunately, too, a lunar sextile to ‘change strategist’ Uranus, in grounded Taurus (1:29 pm), can help us to suddenly gain a fresh, new perspective on matters so we no longer feel that we have to be in control mode. We’re also creatively practical with this aspect.

*All times EDT

On This Day in History: On April 1, 1976, Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs found Apple Computer in the garage of Jobs’ parent’s house in Cupertino, California.

Among the planetary aspects in the sky that day, pioneering Mars, in tenacious Cancer, was exactly forming a waning trine to Uranus, the ruler of technology, in the transforming sign of Scorpio. Mars-Uranus energy is perfect for putting into motion items or projects that are cutting-edge, original, or unique.

On a lighter note, thought it was kind of cool, too, that Mars was in home and family ruling Cancer, that day, and Apple was started in Jobs’ parent’s garage! Gotta’ love the synchronicity!

Cosmic Weather:

“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to reform (or pause and reflect).” Mark Twain

There’s a nice release in the energy today in that we have the Moon, all day, in detached, futuristic Aquarius, the sign of the observer and reformer. No doubt, a welcoming counterpoint to some of the emotionalism and fogginess suggested by the lingering Mercury-Neptune conjunction in impressionable Pisces.

The waning Moon in Aquarius also harmoniously sextiles the pioneering Sun in Aries, this afternoon (5:53 pm). Adding, perhaps, to our sense of self-confidence and leadership ability, and potentially bestowing more of a feeling of inner balance.

The Aries-Aquarian energy is ideal for immersion in any type activities that make us feel, individually, that we’re powering ourselves forward (Aries) while at the same time doing something that we perceive will also possibly be beneficial or meaningful for the collective (Aquarius). We’re also more turned on now by things that are cutting-edge, innovative, wacky, maybe even shocking!

*All times EDT

On This Day in History: On March 30, 1981, President Ronald Reagan is shot and wounded in an assassination attempt by John Hinckley, Jr.; three others are also wounded.

Astrologically, in the sky that day, warrior Mars was separating (one-degree) from an exact conjunction to the Sun in initiating Aries. The Sun symbolizes authority figures or persons in power.

Cosmic Weather:

“We have more success if we think of a project as a group effort, find partners and build a coalition. There is always strength in numbers.” Mark Randall

The Moon continues in humanitarian Aquarius, the sign of group involvement, throughout the day. It then enters impressionable Pisces, later tonight (9:02 pm). The Moon is still in the New phase of its monthly cycle, following the New Moon lunation in Aquarius, yesterday afternoon. And, if you haven’t already done so, there’s also still time today to set your New Moon intentions for the month, especially while the Moon is still in the sign of Aquarius. From the New Moon to the Full Moon, of course, is when we should begin seeing our intentions begin to take shape. Especially if we have added some legwork to them! The late great Wayne Dyer (b. 5/10/40) once said, regarding intentions: “You get what you intend to create by being in harmony with the power of intention, which is responsible for all of creation.”

The Moon in Aquarius makes a very nice sextile to energetic Mars in Aries this morning (8:49 am). This is very motivating yang energy that helps to get our day off to an enterprising start. We’re also acting with greater self-confidence and self-assuredness now. The Moon will sextile progressive Uranus in Aries, later this evening (6:59 pm). This is excellent for experimentation, for changing up our routine, or for hanging out with a new crowd. Today’s lunar exchange with both Mars and Uranus is also a test run or preview, perhaps, for the high-voltage Mars-Uranus conjunction in Aries, which is occurring, the middle of next week.

*All times EST.

On This Day in History: On February 5, 1922, The Reader’s Digest, an American general-interest family magazine, is published for the first time. Jupiter, which rules publishing, had just, interestingly enough, stationed retrograde in balancing Libra on February 3rd. And, communicator Mercury, actually turned retrograde in creative Pisces on February 5th! Yet, despite these two retrograde planets, The Reader’s Digest is still around, nearly 100 years later! So that just goes to show that just because a planet is retrograde, it doesn’t necessarily dampen prospects for success. So many of us tend to wig out whenever we see a planet going retrograde, especially the planet Mercury. It’s like we feel we can’t do anything or take action in the outside world until it goes direct again. Not true!

The empowering Sun and relationship Venus were also exactly conjunct in innovative Aquarius then. Sun-Venus configurations are, among other things, good for popularity, especially with women. This influence would have also been good for the creative content of the magazine. Abundant Jupiter was also trining the Sun and Venus conjunction. No doubt, another factor in the publication’s long-term success. Do any of you still read the Reader’s Digest?

Anyway, enjoy your day! Happy Chinese New Year! It’s the Year of the Pig, which, in Chinese culture, is associated with wealth and prosperity! Amen to that! 🙂

Cosmic Weather:

“Relax. Your battle with the world is just a fiction in your head.” – Marty Rubin

Today is a good time for winding things down, in preparation of tomorrow’s New Moon in innovative Aquarius (4:04 pm). New Moons are always synonymous with brand new beginnings, appearing to mirror the death and rebirth phase of the Moon’s monthly cycle. The Moon also shifted from Capricorn into Aquarius this morning (8:03 am), setting the stage for tomorrow’s big event.

Intellectual Mercury is also in Aquarius today and it’s forming a sextile aspect to philosophical Jupiter in Sagittarius (4:55 pm). This is a very nice, mentally stimulating influence that tends to broaden our outlook and make us feel more optimistic. Our judgment may also be better. Conversations with others, in general, can be very inspiring and productive. We can also speak with a greater sense of personal conviction now as we’re, more than likely, channeling our own inner preacher-teacher! Of course, for some of us, if we’re not careful, the Mercury-Jupiter influence can easily morph into our doing copious amounts of bloviating or pontificating! Something, yours truly, happens to know a thing or two about! 🙂 Additionally, the Mercury-Jupiter aspect also favors publishing, writing, travel planning, and business negotiations.

Relationship Venus also exits carefree Sagittarius today for mature-minded Capricorn (5:30 pm), a venue in which the glorious Love Goddess is ready to hunker down and take things to the next level! Also, with Venus in Capricorn now, we’re likely to be much more selective with respect to letting anyone new into our inner circle, especially since we have less of an appetite for frivolity.

“So, I love you because the entire universe conspired to help me find you.” Paulo Coelho

*All times EST

This Day in History: On February 3, 1959, Buddy Holly (b. 9/7/36) was tragically killed in a plane crash, shortly after takeoff, near Clear Lake, Iowa. Holly is often described as the most influential of the early rock and roll musicians in the mid-1950’s. The death of Holly is also now commonly referred to as “the day the music died” after Don McLean immortalized the tragedy with his 1972 hit “American Pie.” (Wikipedia)

(In the sky on that fateful day, the Sun, the giver of life, was in the aviation-ruling sign of Aquarius and forming an exact opposition to unpredictable Uranus in Leo, the sign of entertainment. The planet Uranus symbolizes change and, on the shadow side, can sometimes trigger disruption or chaos in our lives, including accidents, when its energy is activated.)

That’ll Be The Day (Buddy Holly, Jerry Allison)

Well, that’ll be the day, when you say goodbye
Yes, that’ll be the day, when you make me cry
You say you’re gonna leave, you know it’s a lie
‘Cause that’ll be the day when I die…

The waxing Moon is wrapping up its stay in individualistic Aquarius today, shifting into the compassionate sign of Pisces at 2:44 pm. The Moon’s last aspect in Aquarius is a sextile to Uranus at 11:53 am, which is also the planetary ruler of Aquarius. Moon-Uranus aspects can coincide with stimulating out of the ordinary encounters. They can also poise us to want to make new alterations or changes in our home environment or personal lives. The dreamy, escapist Pisces Moon squares Venus in flirtatious Sagittarius this evening, at 8:09 pm, suggesting an increased need for romance or fun.

This Day in History: On January 9, 2007 Apple CEO Steve Jobs announces the iPhone. In the sky that day, pioneering Mars was in adventurous, communicative Sagittarius at 24 degrees of that sign, exactly trining manifesting, disciplined Saturn at 24 degrees of creative Leo. Flowing Mars-Saturn aspects often indicate positive outcomes through the application of strength and determination. It is also a time when we can often capitalize on our experience and know-how. Enthusiastic Sagittarius is additionally an excellent sign for marketing new wares to a broad, international market.  At the end of the day, I think we all would agree that the iPhone has had a pretty good run. Definitely a Mars-Saturn “worldly” success story! Needless to say, it revolutionized (Mars in Sadge) telecommunications! 🙂 In Steve Job’s natal chart he has a trailblazing Moon in Aries with expansive, fortuitous Jupiter closely conjunct tech giant Uranus in the sign of Cancer. Jupiter-Uranus aspects are associated with sudden breakthroughs and genius. Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury and is linked with intuition.

Hope you have a stimulating, extraordinary day!

Astrology July 4 2015, diversity, freedom of speech, Horoscope July 4 2015, Moon in Aquarius, quote of the day

Ain't That America?

Cosmic Quote of the Day: “Freedom rings where opinions clash.” Adlai Stevenson

Although we may want other people to agree with our opinions – especially since we know we’re usually spot on in our assessment of things 🙂 – the mere fact that we can disagree on matters, is something that we should always be appreciative or grateful for, and something that we must never allow ourselves to take for granted, as we have all seen, especially recently, how insidious life can be when freedom of speech is suppressed or obliterated. Thomas Jefferson once remarked that he never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend.

Today’s Energy:

On this Fourth of July, America’s celebration of freedom, the Moon is deposited, the entire day, in diversity-oriented Aquarius. This Moon placement, while more emotionally detached, can serve to take us outside of ourselves, and our own interests, to focus on the greater interests or needs of the collective. Accordingly, it is a time when we may feel more predisposed to taking a stand on causes that are important to us, that reflect or support our values. Also this may be a period when we might just long to be with others, especially with the people who make us come alive, or who are interesting to us, for one reason or another. The Moon’s sextile to routine-buster Uranus (6:16 pm) also gives us a fascination for “what’s off the beaten path,” while the Moon’s opposition to exuberant Jupiter (9:37 pm) allows us to connect with what brings our heart joy, and delivers a palpable sense of oxygen to our spirit.

Quietness 2

Cosmic Quote of the Day: “You can change your world by changing your words. Remember, death and life are in the power of the tongue.” Joel Osteen

Since words are free to use, so to speak, it seems that many of us are far too casual with how we employ them. Accordingly, we often overlook or fail to grasp their inherent life-changing potential. Oliver Wendell Holmes once said that we should speak clearly, if at all, carving every word before we let it fall; in other words, to be intentional in our speech.

Today’s Energy:

Communicator Mercury, which happens to govern our speech or words, sextiles philosophical Jupiter, the planet of opportunity and optimism, this evening (8:54 pm). This upbeat (“I can do it!”) influence has a general broadening impact upon our intellect, and poises us to want to look ahead and to think big. We are also more intent on wanting to get our message out before the world now, so that we can, hopefully, wield our irresistible sphere of influence. Archetypally, Mercury-Jupiter symbolizes “the orator” or “the preacher.” Also, “the persuader,””the politician,” and “the humorist.”

Mercury-Jupiter aspects are considered favorable for publishing, marketing and advertising, higher education, signing contracts, and general legal matters. They also are associated with international or multi-cultural relations.

The Moon also leaves utilitarian Capricorn for non-conforming Aquarius today (8:21 am), giving us a perfect chance to express our holed up, “inner hippie.” 🙂
