Cosmic Weather:

“The most confused you will ever get is when you try to convince your heart and spirit of something your mind knows is a lie.” Shannon L. Alder

There are more questions than answers today. And, even the answers we’re getting from ourselves, others, and the world at large may be highly suspect or confusing! With animator Mars in Gemini squaring evader Neptune in Pisces (9:04 am), it could be that the more we try to ‘push the envelope’ now (Mars), the greater the chance that that delicate paper receptacle will just flat out vanish into thin air (Neptune)! On the shadow side, Mars-Neptune energy is associated with passive-aggressive/deceptive/scattered actions. Accordingly, it may be best to postpone acting on any major issues today until the view/the facts/our perspective become clearer. Too, behaving aboveboard with integrity can be an empowering way to circumvent some of the bumps in the road before us now.

On another level, Mars square Neptune can be excellent for involvement in any creative activities, especially art, music, and photography. This energy can also invoke our more compassionate or charitable side and can be a time when we are much more capable of self-sacrifice.

“The most sublime act is to set another before you.” William Blake

“The friend in my adversity I shall always cherish most. I can better trust those who have helped to relieve the gloom of my dark hours than those who are so ready to enjoy with me the sunshine of my prosperity.” Ulysses S. Grant

On This Day in History: Blind and impoverished, John Milton sells the copyright of Paradise Lost for £10 on April 27, 1667. The first version of this epic poem consisted of ten books with over ten thousand lines of verse.

“The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven.” John Milton, Paradise Lost

Cosmic Weather:

“It’s not always that we need to do more but rather that we need to focus on less.” Nathan W. Morris

With the Waning Moon in productive Capricorn, this is an excellent day to finish up projects centered around our real-world ambitions. The Moon’s conjunction, mid-morning (10:33 am), with conservationist Saturn, also, ideally, adds to our ability to focus on exactly what’s in front of us, while at the same time allowing us to rally or gather our unique reservoir of wisdom, experience, and know-how and configure all these elements together to our advantage in a positive way. Kind of like a Master Chef at work in a kitchen carefully concocting a sublime dish by knowing exactly what to put in it, how to cook it, serve it, etc. Later, the Moon’s conjunction with intense, excavating Pluto (3:48 pm) poises us to want to feel things on a deeper level, emotionally. This aspect can also connect us with elements of our more distant past.

“Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.” Soren Kierkegaard

“He who stops being better stops being good.” Oliver Cromwell

On This Day in History: On April 25, 1953, Francis Crick’s and James Watson’s discovery of the double helix structure of DNA is published in “Nature” magazine.

Astrologically, on that day, pioneering Mars was exactly conjunct expansive Jupiter in matter-ruling Taurus at 26 degrees. (Jupiter also governs publishing.)

Whenever Mars and Jupiter pair up there is characteristically an abundance of enthusiasm, hope, and optimism in the air. Accordingly, we are not only much more excited about our future prospects then, but we can also make notable strides or advances towards it.

Hope you enjoy your Thursday!

Today’s Astrology April 24, 2019: Pluto Stations Retrograde

Cosmic Weather:

“Some people believe holding on and hanging in there are signs of great strength. However, there are times when it takes much more strength to know when to let go and then do it.” Ann Landers

We live in a culture in which ‘having more’ is often automatically deemed better than ‘having less.’ So virtually anytime there’s a perceived chance that what we have or possess is thought to be at possible risk of loss our immediate response is normally to do whatever it takes to keep what we have firmly in our clutches. No matter that what we might be clinging to may be long expired!

That’s why, perhaps, in a left-handed way, we should maybe all be kind of ‘jumping for joy’ today because Pluto, the planet of exit doors and elimination, is stationing retrograde at 23 degrees of utilitarian Capricorn (2:45 pm). Whenever a planet stations, its energy is thought to be more potent that day. Meaning, we could possibly be getting clearer signs now of what should be pitched or trashed in our lives, for our own good.

Okay, in some cases, we may be able to get clearance to perform salvage operations or just do some creative refurbishing/reworking of existing elements and call it a day. In other words, not have to go through the heartbreak of experiencing a total wipeout or implosion! 🙂 Pluto is, after all, also a great ‘turnaround genius’ or ‘re-birthing agent.’

Too, on another level, it may be worthwhile or interesting now to simply study or observe the vast trail of waste that we are characteristically generating/leaving behind. What might that cryptic wagon train say or reveal about us? About how we are maybe managing/mismanaging our daily operations/resources? Where we may also possibly be overextended, as Pluto governs debt and indebtedness.

Transformational Pluto will be retrograde in Capricorn until October 3, when it will be turning direct at 20 degrees of the sign. Since Capricorn is also the sign that specifically governs career, government, and big business, there’s a chance now, and for the next few months, that we’ll be experiencing a type of ‘crisis of consciousness’ in those areas in particular. Perhaps becoming more aware of the ‘bugs in the systems’ that we’ve built – and what to do about them.

“In the oddity or maybe the miracle of life, the roots of something new frequently lie in the decaying husks of something old.” Craig D. Lounsbrough

Famous April 24 Birthdays: Vincent De Paul, Shirley MacLaine, Jill Ireland, Barbra Streisand, Kelly Clarkson

“I arrived in Hollywood without having my nose fixed, my teeth capped, or my name changed. That is very gratifying to me.” Barbra Streisand

On This Day in History: On April 24, 1888, Eastman Kodak was founded by George Eastman. Astrologically, at the time, the planet Neptune, which rules photography, was nearing 29 degrees of artistic, yet financially-minded Taurus, a critical degree. Often when a planet is at 29 degrees, there’s an extra push or urgency to get things done. There’s also a summation, of sorts, of what has gone before while the planet has been in the sign.

Neptune was also forming a waxing, one-degree sextile to consolidating, organizing Saturn, newly-installed at 0 degrees of Leo, the sign of entertainment and the motion picture industry.

Lest we forget, we also currently have an ongoing sextile now, this year, between Saturn in Capricorn and Neptune in Pisces. This influence is also thought to be very good for creativity and realizing our dreams, with structuring Saturn providing a floor or foundation for Neptune’s bountiful imagination and visions.

Hope you enjoy your Wednesday!

Cosmic Weather:

“Most people come to know only one corner of their room, one spot near the window, one narrow strip on which they keep walking back and forth.” Rainer Maria Rilke

We start out our Monday with the empowering Sun making its annual conjunction with Uranus, the awakener, in security-minded Taurus (7:05 pm). This electrifying influence helps to make us more aware of where we have, perhaps, settled in too much, in our lives, where we have possibly become too rooted, and where we may need almost a jolt, of some kind, to bring us back to a seemingly more creative and interactive way of being and operating in the world.

This aspect can especially reveal to us where we may have forfeited some of our personal freedom, our authenticity, and individual self-expression in a bid to simply survive or make a go of things. Now, we may be feeling that we need to get back on track and cut loose some of those ‘ties that bind’ in order to free our soul.

Uranus also tends to make us more enthralled with whatever is cutting-edge, modernistic, and non-conforming.

“The time we lose is not in overdoing what we are about, but in doing nothing.” William Hazlitt

With fun-loving Venus in boundaryless Pisces forming a square to over-sizing Jupiter in enthusiastic Sagittarius today, it’s easy to get swept away in the current of whatever it is that we’re pursuing for pleasure or enjoyment now (relationships/love/money/dreams/beliefs). Not that that’s necessarily a bad thing, by any means…

Of course, on the other hand, as many of us know, too much of a good thing can quickly morph into something that is ‘not-so-good’ for us, depending on what we’re doing or what’s at stake. In other words, it’s always wise to put things into their proper context.

Anyway, discerning when and where to draw that merry little line or distinction with respect to the parameters of our behavior, is, seemingly, part of our captivating cosmic assignment for this Monday, April 15th. Tax Day in the U.S.

On This Day in History: On April 15, 1912, the Titanic sank off the Newfoundland coast as the band played on. More than 1,500 people lost their lives in the world’s most tragic and infamous maritime tragedy.

Astrologically, in the sky that day, Neptune, the ruler of the sea, was in the water sign of Cancer and exactly square to the Lunar Nodes (NN in Aries, SN in Libra).

“In April, God speaks to us in the seas whose rhythmic murmuring fills our ears from a long way off. Cosmic Weather:

“We live in a culture of secrecy, where hiding and lying are accepted as natural, even though we don’t like it. We want honesty, transparency, and authenticity in our loved ones, our groups and organizations, and in our own self so we can reach the heights of our capacity. By clinging to the opaque reality we stall our evolution.” Penney Peirce

We are poised for positive, transformative new beginnings today but the portal to get there requires that we first must do some serious digging/heavy lifting through the valley of our fears, worries, insecurities to see how they have been covertly or secretly impacting/blocking/shaping our utilization of power in the world (Sun square Pluto). Pluto is associated with purging or eliminating whatever is decaying or putrefying inside of us so that we can lighten our load, and move on.

Additionally, on the shadow side, with the Sun in conquest-oriented Aries, there can be a tendency now for power struggles to ensue, or more of a willingness to engage in manipulative behaviors, in a bid to hold onto what is feared may be passing away (Pluto).

Cosmic Weather:

“It is not the failure that holds us back but the reluctance to begin over again that causes us to stagnate.” Clarissa Pinkola Estes

We have a New Moon in ‘initiating’ Aries today (4:50 am). It’s also the first New Moon of the astrological new year, which occurred when the Sun entered the sign of Aries at the Spring (Northern) equinox.

The New Moon in Aries is always a time for us to embark on personal new beginnings. The keywords for Aries are: I am. So we’re recognizing or affirming our very existence now by putting things into motion. By taking action. By creating. We’ll also want to pay attention to the house in our natal chart in which this New Moon is occurring as that is the area of our life in which these new activities will be getting underway.

This is also an excellent time for us to incorporate some of the qualities of Aries, such as independence, adventurousness, and fearlessness. Also, for learning how to take the initiative in matters as well as for developing a strong belief in ourselves.

Aspect-wise, today’s New Moon is square to Saturn, Pluto, and the South Node in Capricorn. Suggesting that it’s very important now to be very focused and grounded (Saturn) in our actions; assertive, but not pushy (Pluto); and responsive, instead of reactive (South Node).

“When it’s obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don’t adjust the goals, adjust the action steps.” Confucius

On This Day in History: On April 5, 1923 Firestone Tire and Rubber Company starts producing inflatable tires.

Astrologically, that day, there was a grand fire trine involving the Sun, Mercury, and Chiron in pioneering Aries; visionary Neptune in leadership Leo; and the Moon in futuristic Sagittarius. Jupiter was also retrograde in resourceful, transformative Scorpio and trining Uranus, the planet of invention and technology, in imaginative Pisces.

Famous April 5 Birthdays: Booker T. Washington, Spencer Tracy, Bette Davis, Gregory Peck, Colin Powell, Pharrel Williams

“Success is not to be measured so much by the status one has attained in life but rather by the obstacles one has overcome while trying to succeed.” Booker T. Washington.

Booker T. Washington, an American educator who was born into slavery (b. 4/5/1856), was also born right after a New Moon in Aries, just like we have today. He had his Sun and Moon conjunct in pioneering Aries, along with four planets conjunct in compassionate Pisces – Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, and Neptune. (Today we also have Mercury, Venus, and Neptune conjunct in Pisces!)  His Pisces planets were also all square to teacher, obstacle-ruler Saturn in thinker, information imparter Gemini.

control, daily astrology, daily horoscope, death and rebirth, Pluto conjunct South Node in Capricorn, power, releasing the past

Cosmic Weather:

Transformational Pluto conjunct the South Node in ambitious Capricorn today is potentially a chance for us to gain deeper insight (Pluto) into how we have perhaps been (South Node) wielding or managing our power, control, or authority in the world (Pluto) in order to attain outward success (Capricorn).

The South Node represents our habits or ingrained behaviors, while Pluto symbolizes, among other things, penetrating awareness, the urge for power itself, and also governs the principle of death and rebirth.

This conjunction, ideally, gives us a chance to let go of, or purge, ways of being that are no longer reflective of who we are, or no longer appropriate for us, so that we can move forward. Moving forward, too, in this case, also suggests moving toward the more feelings-oriented North Node in Cancer, as the North Node signifies our future growth, or where we are heading. In other words, we are allowing ourselves, with this aspect, the freedom now to express more of what is in our heart (Cancer), while, at the same time, retreating from a position of feeling that we must always be in charge or control of everything and everyone (Capricorn). Capricorn can also expose our previous cultural conditioning that orients us to do, perhaps, what is socially acceptable rather than what is totally honest for us.

Since Pluto also symbolizes what is below the surface, or at our core, including the realm of the unconscious, it’s possible that we may also experience now elements, situations, or relationships that unite us with our buried or more distant past. Again, too, the purpose of this re-emergence of the past is not to haunt us or to lay a guilt trip on us, but rather, to free us from whatever has been trapped inside.

“Be not the slave of your own past – plunge into the sublime seas, dive deep, and swim far, so you shall come back with new self-respect, with new power, and with an advanced experience that shall explain and overlook the old.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

On a non-personal level, Pluto conjunct the South Node can also shed light on tangible things or structures that are broken down around us that need to be either fixed, repaired, or replaced. This could include, for instance, discovering hidden foundational issues in a house or building. Or maybe finding out about hard-to-detect plumbing or sewage leaks. Isn’t it interesting, too, how the outer structures of our lives will often symbolically mirror or reflect what is going on with us on an internal level?

On This Day in History: On April 4, 1968, US Civil Rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. is assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee

Cosmic Weather:

“Within ourselves, there are voices that provide us with all the answers that we need to heal our deepest wounds, to transcend our limitations, to overcome our obstacles or challenges, and see where our soul is longing to go.” Debby Ford

The nature of our thoughts or thinking can impact our ability for self-healing in a positive, liberating way today as Mars in cerebral Gemini forms a waxing sextile to Chiron in self-focused Aries (11:39 pm).

This opportunity aspect can motivate us, or inspire us, to look at old issues or vulnerabilities with fresh eyes, new strategies, new spins. Included here, in the process, might be the active gathering/sharing of information, opinions, and viewpoints; a non-tangible arsenal that serves to fortify us, stimulate us, and get us ready and eager for the next step of our journey. Mars in Gemini often finds it much easier to change or alter its course as new information is made available.

Changing, modifying, or tweaking the physical world around us, including visiting new sites or locations, can also be quite cathartic now. Kind of like when we’ve been holed up in the house, for a couple days, maybe during a snowstorm or something, and then when we’re finally able to get out, we feel like a brand new person, with a much better attitude.

clarity, imagination, Jeannette Rankin begins her first term in Congress, Mercury conjunct Neptune, Moon in Pisces

Cosmic Weather:

“If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is – infinite.” William Blake

With the Moon ensconced in imaginative Pisces, all day, the astrological sign symbolizing transcendence or the domain of the infinite, and logical Mercury exactly conjunct Neptune, the ruler of Pisces (for the third and final time), today decidedly has an otherworldly or more mystical vibe to it!

Meaning, in part, that our more practical day-to-day concerns also tend to be glossed over or subjugated now in favor of reeling in our dreams, visions, or fantasies. In other words, this is an excellent time for crafting the big picture view of how we would like our future to be. Perhaps not as good, though, for penciling in all the logistical details regarding how we’re specifically going to be running our exquisite kingdoms or queendoms. 🙂 Additionally, the Pisces energy is also positive for dissolving differences, or for working more in unison with others.

Of course, since this is also the conclusion of the three-part Mercury and Neptune meetup – which also sort of feels like some kind of TV docudrama, at this point! – we should be receiving some parting insight, or guidance, or clarity now regarding the meaning or purpose of this particular planetary aspect in our lives. It’s like the Neptunian veil is finally lifting and we’re able to peek and see what’s behind it! It could be an illusion or delusion is revealed. Or maybe a cryptic message or communication becomes clearer. Or, perhaps, something that has been withheld by us, or from us, possibly out of fear, comes out of the shadows and dances into the light.

Famous April 2 Birthdays: Charlemagne, Giacomo Casanova, Hans Christian Andersen, Alec Guiness, Marvin Gaye, Leon Russell, Emmylou Harris

On This Day in History: On April 2, 1917, Jeannette Rankin (b. 6/11/1880) begins her term as the first woman elected to the U.S. Congress. Rankin, a staunch women’s activist, also helped pass the 19th Amendment, giving women the right to vote.
