Sun Conjuncts Mercury Rx in enterprising Aries (3:48 pm) – Thinker Mercury is now officially at the mid-point of its “mulling over,” backstepping retrograde phase. Which means that the empowering Sun, once again, has seemingly – and most graciously, indeed – opted to intervene and restore, at least temporarily today, some semblance of full cognitive power/wattage/clarity to the delicate psyche of the Winged Messenger/Commerce Secretary so that it no longer has to fumble through, or re-evaluate or reconsider its most recent spate of head-scratching or knee-jerking ideas, proposals, strategies, etc., presumably guided only by a lowly flashlight with waning batteries.

Of course, the big dream here, is that this perceived increased dosage of scintillating clarity or illumination, that the Sun is generously bestowing upon Mercury now, will also copiously trickle down to each one of us so that we may ideally be able to arrive at a better understanding or grasp of what seismic or even pint-sized moves we may want to make once Mercury emerges victorious and refreshed from its retro phase on April 7th (or its shadow on April 14th).

Today’s inferior conjunction of the Sun and Mercury is also thought to be a more beneficial period for doing research or perhaps for partaking in riveting conversations or discussions, with our words potentially packing more of a punch at this time.

The 4th quarter Moon also shifts into progressive, inventive Aquarius from business-minded Capricorn, later this morning (11:25 am).

With the illuminating rays of the creative Leo Sun conjoined with Mercury retrograde (9:58 pm), we may be privy to a greater measure of mental clarity. This could possibly result in some kind of turning point with respect to our thinking or understanding. Especially perhaps in relation to a matter that is already under our review. Too, this matter may particularly pertain to how we choose to express ourselves or our talents (Leo).

Today’s Sun-Mercury configuration also denotes the midway cycle in Mercury’s apparent backward dance in the heavens, which began on August 4 and concludes on August 28.

Additionally, Mercury Rx is squaring radical Uranus in Taurus (exact at 5:47 am). Seemingly giving us carte blanche to espouse, or at least evaluate, more experimental processes or methodologies. Similarly, this aspect may conveniently open the door for us to temporarily channel our ‘inner contrarian.’

It also may be one of those days when we may hear or see something “out of left field” that we may not have been expecting.

On This Day in History: On August 18, 1920, the 19th Amendment was ratified in the US giving women the right to vote.

Astrologically, that day, feminine-ruling Venus, at 8 degrees of harvesting Virgo, was exactly sextile to transformational Pluto at 8 degrees of maternal, familial Cancer. Cancer has also traditionally been associated with, among other things, patriotism and love of country.  Venus was also applying to a conjunction with Saturn, which suggests an addition of duties or responsibilities.

Cosmic Weather:

The Sun and Mercury meet up in secretive Scorpio today (2:23 pm), officially marking the halfway point in Mercury’s retrograde cycle. This “inferior conjunction” between the Sun and the Winged Messenger may very well translate into our finally being able to solve a big piece of the cryptic puzzle before us now – although we are still likely, not quite ready to put a big red bow on it and move on. Not to worry, though, because, soon enough, we will, undoubtedly, have all the riveting answers that we need, or require, in order to come to our usual impeccable conclusions! 🙂

Overall, this Sun-Mercury alignment will hopefully allow us to gain a greater understanding of substantive matters as our mind is unusually clear now. It may also be a period that is punctuated with an increased need for communication with others, especially possibly a time when there might be a greater willingness or eagerness to want to share or disclose things about ourselves of a more intimate nature.

On This Day in History: It was 56 years ago tonight (October 25, 1964) that the Rolling Stones appeared on the “Ed Sullivan Show” for the first time – and also a time when the majority of America got their first glimpse of the more rebellious rock group. The Stones performed two songs in less than seven minutes — their latest hit “Time Is On My Side,” and a cover of Chuck Berry’s “Around And Around.”

Astrologically, that night, the ever-twinkling stars were seemingly smiling brightly upon the British rock band, with lovable, artistic Venus (in perfecting Virgo) exactly trine to propitious Jupiter (in enduring Taurus), often regarded as one of the luckiest and most pleasurable transits around.

Pioneering Mars was also deposited in flashy “rock star” Leo and in an exact square to “kingly” Jupiter, an aspect in which we often may experience moments or instances that sort of feel “larger-than-life” to us, in many respects. (Scorpio Sun conjuncts Mercury Rx at 18 degrees, 10:21 am EST)

We’re at the midway point of the Mercury Rx cycle today, with intellectual Mercury in “inferior conjunction” with the illuminating Scorpio Sun.

Ideally, this configuration provides us with an important turning point regarding much of the interior work (the rethinking, reviewing, purging or letting go) that we’ve been doing since communicator Mercury first stationed retrograde in Scorpio, on October 31st.

Kind of like, all of a sudden, what has been coming up for us lately, via our subconscious or our own inner knowing, is now beginning to make a whole lot more sense to us.

We’re also, hopefully, as a byproduct of this newfound mental clarity, gaining a better handle on what future actions we may need to take (once this Mercury Rx cycle is completed) to facilitate our soul’s journey.

Too, today might be an excellent time to sit quietly with ourselves and meditate or do some breath work or journaling. Or, we may want to draw a Tarot card or two for special insight. Whatever activity that helps to make us feel more connected to our intuition, to Source, to the Universe.

The Moon is also in calming, grounding Taurus, all day (on its way to it Full Phase, tomorrow morning), which can make it much easier for us to tune into the wisdom of our body or our five senses, to be more fully present in the moment.

Numerologically, today is also a very special day, with it being an 11:11 day. In ancient times, the number 11 was associated with rites of passage or initiation. If you also add up the numbers of today – 11/11/2019 – they reduce down to 16, which reduces down to 7, which is the number of the seeker, or the searcher of truth. A very nice adjoining to today’s, path-clearing, Sun-Mercury conjunction.

Astronomically, today’s Mercury transit of the Sun (a mini-eclipse) is also a rather rare event that generally happens only about 13 times a century. The last time this transit occurred was in 2016. It won’t happen again until 2032.

With the Moon ensconced in imaginative Pisces, all day, the astrological sign symbolizing transcendence or the domain of the infinite, and logical Mercury exactly conjunct Neptune, the ruler of Pisces (for the third and final time), today decidedly has an otherworldly or more mystical vibe to it!

Meaning, in part, that our more practical day-to-day concerns also tend to be glossed over or subjugated now in favor of reeling in our dreams, visions, or fantasies. In other words, this is an excellent time for crafting the big picture view of how we would like our future to be. Perhaps not as good, though, for penciling in all the logistical details regarding how we’re specifically going to be running our exquisite kingdoms or queendoms. 🙂 Additionally, the Pisces energy is also positive for dissolving differences, or for working more in unison with others. 

Of course, since this is also the conclusion of the three-part Mercury and Neptune meetup – which also sort of feels like some kind of TV docudrama, at this point! – we should be receiving some parting insight, or guidance, or clarity now regarding the meaning or purpose of this particular planetary aspect in our lives. It’s like the Neptunian veil is finally lifting and we’re able to peek and see what’s behind it! It could be an illusion or delusion is revealed. Or maybe a cryptic message or communication becomes clearer. Or, perhaps, something that has been withheld by us, or from us, possibly out of fear, comes out of the shadows and dances into the light.

Mercury, symbolizing our thinking and communicating, forms a superior conjunction with the Sun tonight (9:52 pm), our basic identity, at 10 degrees of detached Aquarius.

This Mercury-Sun aspect is analogous to the illuminating Full Moon, in terms of Mercury’s approximate 116-day cycle. And, just as it is when we have a Full Moon, we are potentially privier now to gaining greater clarity about matters in our lives. Especially, perhaps, with respect to more clearly understanding our own life purpose (the Sun) in relation to the larger collective (Aquarius).

With Mercury conjunct the Sun, our basic sense of self permeates or colors our thinking and outlook. It could be that we also receive a piece or two of vital information, at this time, or maybe birth a deeper insight that confirms for us what we had already suspected in the back of our mind, that may also potentially aid us in our continuing voyage of self-discovery.

We may tend to do a better job now of filling in the blanks, connecting the dizzying dots. Discerning, particularly, what’s working for us, and what’s not. This phase of Mercury is also associated with having more of a practical, long-range view of things, that is based largely on facts and history (left-brain) versus a mental perspective focused more on our emotions or intuition (right-brain).

In general, the Mercury-Sun energy now is very favorable for learning, brainstorming, and problem-solving. Especially since this superior conjunction is occurring in the futuristic, innovative sign of Aquarius, where there’s always greater receptivity to new ideas.

It’s also an excellent time to, perhaps, seriously think about or discuss forward-moving ideas that can help to benefit or liberate the collective or humanity as a whole.

Astronomically, Mercury in superior conjunction with the Sun also marks the end of Mercury’s appearance in the morning sky and its transition to being an object visible in the evening, in the days ahead.

Clarity of mind can be a big game changer for us. Because when we have it, we usually spend much less time second-guessing or doubting ourselves. Which means that we automatically have more energy at our disposal to gravitate toward other things, including perhaps making progress toward our dreams.

In today’s cosmic lineup, intellectual Mercury – which is already considered strengthened by being in analytical Virgo – is trine to transforming, perceptive Pluto. Ideally helping us to gain a greater level of clarity or understanding depending upon what it is we are focusing on. We may be able see things now that we haven’t been able to see before, for whatever reason.

Also, it’s perhaps worth pointing out that sometimes even the slightest alteration in our perceptions can end up having major consequences for our lives, which I’m sure we’ve all experienced, at one time or the other.

Additionally, the greater awareness that is floating up to our consciousness now can also possibly translate into our being able to communicate with others more persuasively and with more conviction or certainty.

Where have your thoughts been, the past three weeks, with Mercury “the thinker” retrograde? Have you maybe been reconsidering recent decisions, or reflecting on your goals? Today with Mercury stationing direct in “intuitive” Pisces we finally get cosmic clearance to begin acting on what we have been ruminating about lately. Mercury will also be in its “shadow phase” until April 22.

Meanwhile, the Moon in “solutions-oriented” Virgo today also prompts us to evaluate matters logically, although a morning trine to expansive Jupiter in Taurus (9:35 am EDT) does supply us with an overview of the big picture as well. The Moon remains in logical, analytical Virgo, setting the tone for thinker Mercury’s opposition to judgmental Saturn (9:55 am EDT). This is definitely a day when we will want to be well-prepared and organized in our responses. Otherwise we tend to suffer the consequences, especially from higher-ups and authority figures (Saturn) who may be inclined to find fault (Saturn) with us for not doing our due diligence.  The Virgo Moon can be a stickler for detail and Mercury-Saturn can be very serious and exacting. In general, this aspect tends to impart more of a sobering outlook.

On the plus side with this influence, we have a great opportunity to deepen our perception and probe matters with expert clarity, particularly since we also have the Moon in discriminating Virgo. Overall, a great day for research and for making serious assessments.
