COSMIC WEATHER:

“He he would be serene and pure needs but one thing, detachment.” Meister Eckhart

The Moon vacates practical Capricorn for objective Aquarius (2:00 pm EDT) allowing us to experience more of an emotional detachment with respect to our feelings. Mercury in energetic Aries also continues its opposition to serious Saturn in partnership Libra, perhaps inclining us to want to discuss more substantive (Saturn) issues with our mates, including maybe commitment? (Saturn)

This is also an excellent day for studying history or science, or for learning new technology. Too, it could be that with the smart Aquarian Moon, we are able to masterfully detect where the Easter bunny has hidden all the eggs. πŸ™‚ Too, for those who celebrate it, Happy Easter!

Famous Birthdays April 24th: Shirley MacLaine (77), Barbra Streisand (69). BTW, Barbara’s horoscope is very similar to my own. We both have Sun in Taurus, Moon in Leo, and an Aries Rising. Too, I have always personally identified with Barbra, since I was a child. I think her personality is a lot like mine, particularly her sense of humor. Unfortunately though, for me, I cannot sing and I don’t have her kind of money. Also, I wish I had a man like James Brolin!

Too, a peek at Shirley MacLaine’s horoscope reveals that she has an analytical Virgo Moon conjunct mystical Neptune, perhaps why she doesn’t mind “going out on a limb” discussing her spiritual beliefs before the public (Moon). Of course, she is also regarded, by some, as being a little bit “spacey” (Neptune). The Moon not only rules the public, but it also governs our public image. Shirley also has expansive Jupiter in Libra in her first house, giving her grand creative (Libra) talents ( as both a performing artist and writer), and also making her a natural teacher (Jupiter). Additionally, she has innate ability as a “peacemaker” and “diplomat.” (Jupiter in Libra)

Oprah Winfrey recently had Shirley MacLaine on her program. Did you see the show? Oprah mentioned to Shirley that it was Shirley’s book, “Out On A Limb,” that significantly altered her own thinking on religion and spirituality. I was really surprised to hear her say that. Shirley also talked on the Oprah Show about her experience with “UFO’s.”

COSMIC WEATHER:

“A reform is a correction of abuses; a revolution is a transfer of power.” – Robert Bulwer–Lytton

Well, now that we may know the fine distinction between reform and revolution, it is possible be that we see a bit of both of these occurring today as the big cheese Sun conjuncts liberating Uranus, the sometimes quirky, and often unruly, rebel stepchild of the Universe.

Change-agent Uranus is deemed to be unpredictable in nature, so it’s hard to ever know exactly what he has up his sleeve. It’s probably best for us to just prime ourselves for the unexpected today and hope it will be very good, unexpected stuff that develops in our lives.

Uranus can bring about sudden amazing breakthroughs and advances, especially of a more scientific or technological nature. This is especially the case in pioneering Aries, a sign also known for firsts.

At any rate, a very good day to perhaps consider instituting new procedures or processes in our lives to maybe make them more efficient.

BTW, Uranus is formally associated with genius; maybe many of our “IQ’s” will effectively get a boost today. Too, this is probably not a good day to resist change, as it could be a lost causewith w acky Uranus breathing down our necks, holding us captive. πŸ™‚

COSMIC WEATHER:

“Nothing is worth doing unless the consequences may be serious.” George Bernard Shaw

The Moon remains in logical, analytical Virgo, setting the tone for thinker Mercury’s opposition to judgmental Saturn (9:55 am EDT). This is definitely a day when we will want to be well-prepared and organized in our responses. Otherwise we tend to suffer the consequences, especially from higher-ups and authority figures (Saturn) who may be inclined to find fault (Saturn) with us for not doing our due diligence.Β  The Virgo Moon can be a stickler for detail and Mercury-Saturn can be very serious and exacting. In general, this aspect tends to impart more of a sobering outlook.

On the plus side with this influence, we have a great opportunity to deepen our perception and probe matters with expert clarity, particularly since we also have the Moon in discriminating Virgo. Overall, a great day for research and for making serious assessments.

Patricia’s Astrology January 15, 2011 Mars Enters Aquarius Daily Horoscope

“It is not necessary to change. Survival is not mandatory.” W. Edwards Deming

COSMIC WEATHER:

Energy planet Mars, symbolically depicting the urge for self-assertion, takes the big plunge and officially sky-rockets into hi-tech, futuristic Aquarius, the opinionated, scientific home of wacky astronomers waxing delusional and very bitterly about 13 zodiacal signs. (See link below)Β  Mars will stay in this sign until February 22nd.

With Mars in Aquarius, a sign which represents cultural diversity and “changing things up,” we are eager to venture off into unchartered waters, as long as we are able to cart along, of course, our smart phones and other technological gadgetry. Aquarius rules innovation and invention, especially more of a scientific or technological nature.

Theoretically we “progress” now by embracing or cultivating change, and utilizing new approaches or strategies in our daily endeavors. As part of this orientation we may want to collaborate with more original-type thinkers, or more non-comforming types, to get a fresh take on things.Β  We may want also to expand our networking efforts now and get involved more with group causes, or group ventures (Aquarius rules groups and friends). Mars in Aquarius = energy for groups.

The Moon also enters curious, loquacious Gemini today. In Gemini, the Moon provides us with more of a penchant and willingness for flexibility. In other words, more of an ability to go with the flow. We’re not as rigid now, and we’re also wanting to physically move around. We have more of a capacity to see the humor in any situation, too, as this Moon tends to be more light-hearted and likes to laugh. Humor is a positive trait that often gets overlooked, but it’s something that can come in handy for coping with the mighty stresses and woes of living in Madonna’s material world, but, unfortunately, without Madonna’s nifty checkbook to tote around.

Questions to entertain with Mars deposited in Aquarius:

How are we about embracing change? Do we welcome new strategies, or prefer to stick with the tried-and-true?

Can we recall a time when we tried a new approach with something and it saved the day for us?

Is there any one area in our life now that could perhaps benefit by employing new methods? What about changing aspects of our sex life? Mars does rule sex. Hmmmm. Sex life??? Can’t quite recall what that’s all about? ::scratches head::

If we could change one thing about ourselves, what would it be? Our nose? Our brain? The pattern of our fingerprints?

How are we at interfacing with groups of people? Comfortable? Uncomfortable?

Are we more of a leader, or a follower?

Are there any social or humanitarian causes that we could maybe get involved with now? Aquarius pertains to immersion in matters that benefit the collective.

What is the most off-the-wall thing we have done in the past year? Have we even done anything off-the-wall, lately? If not, why not? Could it be that we are packaged too tightly, and that we should give ourselves permission to roam around a little, or a lot? Especially when we are trying to locate the ever-elusive George Clooney.

“They must often change, who would be constant in happiness or wisdom.” Confucius

With Mars in Aquarius, this is the time to take bold, decisive action to get out of our ruts. Out of our stagnation. We should never allow ourselves to think that change is not possible for us. It is, and now is the time to seek out that change! This is also an excellent time for putting new systems or procedures into place. In other words, erecting new infrastructure.

One project that I personally intend to do now is get rid of the ancient computer PC in my home-office. I never use it. All it does it sit on the computer table taking up space. This scenario has been going on for over a year now, ever since I got my new laptop, because I have been terrified at the thought of having to deal with all the plugs and cords, etc. plugged into the computer. Plus, I don’t know how to clean the hard drive. I have decided now, though, that with Mars in hi-tech Aquarius I am going to somehow figure out how to proceed here and get rid of the frickin’ thing. Free up the chi energy around me. In fact, I am resolving to go through every room in my house and purge. I want the environment “different” around me now. I want to tap into the newness and freshness of Mars in Aquarius.

Mercury Sextile Pluto: Insight for Solving Life’s Riddles

On This Date in History:

On November 12, 1970, scientists perform the first artificial synthesis of a live cell. At the time, Mental Mercury, governing logic and reasoning ability, was in investigative Scorpio at 29 degrees, the sign of DNA, regeneration, and the mysteries of life. Mercury was also exactly sextile to Scorpio’s ruler Pluto, at 29 degrees of analytical Virgo, which is also the sign of health.

Mercury sextile Pluto is deemed to be excellent for research, as Mercury’s understanding and reasoning is given much greater depth and focus when aligned with intense Pluto, which symbolizes what’s “hidden below” (life at the cellular level).

Too, Mercury’s placement in Scorpio, in addition to its “sextile to Pluto,” was like having a ‘double whammy’ of transformational Scorpio energy to work with that day. Also, Virgo is a sign associated with microscopically “breaking things down” so as to understand them better.

Other planetary influences at the time: Mercury was conjunct imaginative Neptune at 0 degrees of scholastic Sagittarius; fortuitous Venus and Jupiter were exactly conjunct in Scorpio, perhaps bringing an element of “luck” and “more advantageous conditions” to the matter of research and problem-solving (Scorpio). The Sun was also in Scorpio exactly opposite Karma Lord Saturn in manifesting Taurus. Saturn represents “form-building” while oppositions denote “turning points.”

Finally, pioneering Mars in intellectual Libra was also separating from a potent conjunction with breakthrough Uranus, a planet known to bestow “sudden flashes of brilliance.”Β  Uranus often acts as a catalyst for change and often manifests it through technological and scientific advancement.

Patricia’s Astrology On this Day in History October 13: Shroud of Turin

On This Day In History:

On October 13, 1988, the “Shroud of Turin,” a linen cloth depicting the image of a man who looks to have sustained injuries, consistent with a crucifixion, that some also believe is the image of Jesus Christ at the time of his burial, is shown by carbon-testing to “be a fake” from the Middle Ages. However, to this day, the matter is still mired in much controversy. Some critics contend that the samples used for the testing were not typical of the entire shroud.

Fascinatingly, on this date, Communicator and News Reporter Mercury was retrograde in Libra and, as many of us know, information received under a retrograde Mercury can be revised or subject to change later.

Also, much more central to the matter here, is Traditionalist Saturn’s exact conjunction with Discovery Uranus at 27 degrees of Sagittarius.Β  Sagittarius is a sign associated with formal doctrine and religion.Β  Uranus rules modern science and testing (the carbon-testing), and Saturn represents the established form and structure in our lives, which in this case, would symbolize the common perception about the Shroud of Turin.

With Saturn-Uranus, which is a very powerful aspect, there can be a “sudden attack or jolt” (Uranus) to the foundational fabric of our lives (Saturn).Β  Uranus perennially acts like a “bolt of lightning” out of the blue. Since the sign of Sagittarius is also involved here, this new emergence was felt in the area of conventional religion.

Additionally, the transiting North Node of the Moon was at 11 degrees of Pisces, the sign of mysticism and spiritually, and exactly trine to transformer Pluto at 11 degrees of Scorpio, the sign that deals with the mysteries of life, death, and rebirth (or resurrection).

Pluto acts in such a way to shine a flashlight into a cave. We glean a new consciousness or awareness of what was previously hidden or obscured from view. Pluto also rules death and the Shroud of Turin depicts images of someone who likely died from being crucified.Β  The North Node of the Moon is often thought to play a part in our karmic and spiritual evolution. With the North Node-Pluto influence we were seeing the Shroud in a “new light.”

Also, the transiting South Node of the Moon at 11 degrees of Analytical Virgo was exactly conjunct Venus, with Venus ruling objects that we love and value. Venus could also be representative of the Shroud or cloth itself, a material item of the past (South Node rules the past), being put “under the Virgo microscope” for further study and digestion.

The Catholic Church is the owner of the Shroud of Turin. The cloth is currently stored in the Cappella della Santa Sindone (the chapel of the Holy Shroud) in the Duomo di San Giovanni. It is only displayed every 25 years, due to the fragile nature of the cloth. It will not be displayed again until 2025, although there is a replica of it available for viewing.
