The Sun, our fab “power source” and indicator of our “conscious will” and “ego,” departs traditional Capricorn for unorthodox Aquarius (5:19 am EST), where it will reside until February 18th. The Sun is joining energy dynamo Mars already stationed here. With both the Sun and Mars in innovative Aquarius, a far-sighted sign whose natives include Thomas Edison and Abraham Lincoln, we are presented with vast opportunity to “change things up,” incorporate new approaches, don new strategies. All we have to do is have the courage to venture outside of our normal boundaries.

Full Moons offer us a chance for full awareness, or full illumination. We tend to see things “more clearly” with Full Moons. The Full Moon that we have on January 19th occurs at 29 degrees of Cancer (4:22 pm EST), which is the very last degree of the sign. Moon-ruled Cancer is the sign of motherly love. Home and family. It governs nurturing and self-protection. The Cancer experience provides us with a heightened sense of our own continuation, an awareness of our roots.
With this Full Moon occurring at the very end of sensitive Cancer, there symbolically seems to be more of an urgency to it. When planets are at the last degrees, we are wrapping things up. Too, this Full Moon forms a harmonious trine to both “opportunity” Jupiter, at 29 degrees of surrendering Pisces, and to “awakening” Uranus at 27 degrees of Pisces. This suggests the possibility of an emotional breakthrough.
Individually, we will want to look at our personal horoscopes to see what house in our chart this Full Moon is falling in, as to where this breakthrough or full awareness may be occurring. It is likely that we will also see an uptick in general activity or movement in those affairs designated by the house containing the Full Moon.
Full Moons are a time of release. Energy planet Mars, symbolically depicting the urge for self-assertion, takes the big plunge and officially sky-rockets into hi-tech, futuristic Aquarius, the opinionated, scientific home of wacky astronomers waxing delusional and very bitterly about 13 zodiacal signs. (See link below) Mars will stay in this sign until February 22nd.
With Mars in Aquarius, a sign which represents cultural diversity and “changing things up,” we are eager to venture off into unchartered waters, as long as we are able to cart along, of course, our smart phones and other technological gadgetry. Aquarius rules innovation and invention, especially more of a scientific or technological nature.
Theoretically we “progress” now by embracing or cultivating change, and utilizing new approaches or strategies in our daily endeavors. As part of this orientation we may want to collaborate with more original-type thinkers, or more non-comforming types, to get a fresh take on things. We may want also to expand our networking efforts now and get involved more with group causes, or group ventures (Aquarius rules groups and friends). Mars in Aquarius = energy for groups.
The Moon also enters curious, loquacious Gemini today. In Gemini, the Moon provides us with more of a penchant and willingness for flexibility. In other words, more of an ability to go with the flow. We’re not as rigid now, and we’re also wanting to physically move around. We have more of a capacity to see the humor in any situation, too, as this Moon tends to be more light-hearted and likes to laugh. Humor is a positive trait that often gets overlooked, but it’s something that can come in handy for coping with the mighty stresses and woes of living in Madonna’s material world, but, unfortunately, without Madonna’s nifty checkbook to tote around.

One project that I personally intend to do now is get rid of the ancient computer PC in my home-office. I never use it. All it does it sit on the computer table taking up space. This scenario has been going on for over a year now, ever since I got my new laptop, because I have been terrified at the thought of having to deal with all the plugs and cords, etc. plugged into the computer. Plus, I don’t know how to clean the hard drive. I have decided now, though, that with Mars in hi-tech Aquarius I am going to somehow figure out how to proceed here and get rid of the frickin’ thing. Free up the chi energy around me. In fact, I am resolving to go through every room in my house and purge. I want the environment “different” around me now. Our enthusiasm knows no bounds as sexy, go-getter Mars sextiles fortuitous, expansive Jupiter, who is likely toting a large bag of goodies for us today. This is a super aspect! Great time to forge ahead with important projects, get things done, especially anything business-related, as Mars is still in ambitious Capricorn, which rules status, career, and reputation. Since Mars also rules sex there could possibly be big breakthroughs here as well, depending, of course, on the size and stature of the individual(s) we are involved with. COSMIC WEATHER: January 11th through the 16th
Mental Mercury (communication) and manic Mars (aggressive urge) are hogging most of the astrological press this week. That’s okay. We’ll respectfully give them their fifteen minutes.
Mercury wraps up its stay in visionary Sagittarius, dutifully heading for the ambitious, goat-studded hills of Saturn-ruled Capricorn (January 13th). Our thoughts become more practical, more focused.
Also, self-assertive Mars shifts out of conforming Capricorn for Aquarius’ more non-conforming terrain (January 15th), which is psychedelically-peppered, at this time, with aging hippies, awkwardly still trying to “do their own thing,” despite all the intense years of pot-smoking and skinny-dipping. Uranus-ruled Aquarius, a sign that likes to wickedly “bend the rules,” fully embraces diversity, even the die-hard, hippie kind. It’s probably a good thing, too, that the hippies at least have a place to go to, a sign to “call home.”
With Mars in Aquarius now, too, it’s possible that we could even temporarily befriend one or two of these tie-dyed beings. Maybe help them to find their way, or whatever it is that they still are looking for. Maybe another Woodstock? Could be they are sticking around to see the re-emergence of bell-bottoms as a major, hot fashion trend?
January 11th: Talker Mercury meets up with big hips Jupiter in blabbermouth Sagittarius. The end result: No one gets to have the last word on anything! Steady diet of redundant chatter permeates the air everywhere. Unless we have plenty of time on our hands, it’s best to refrain from asking anyone about their personal religious or political beliefs, or about anything controversial, for that matter, as we will likely be going at each other’s throat until the cows come home. Too, we tend to zealously over-estimate our humble abilities now, i.e. bite off more than we can chew, both literally and symbolically.
Also, we need to carefully, and systematically, scrutinize documents and contracts closely, before putting our ‘John or Mary Doe’ on them. With Mercury-Jupiter, we tend to “gloss over details,” as we’re thinking too much about the “big picture.” Mercury-Jupiter is all too often linked with misunderstandings because we tend to get sloppy or arrogant in our thinking and assume too much.
Moon in pioneering Aries still has us “blazing new trails,” although the opposition to taskmaster Saturn (8:48 pm EST) may temporarily put a roadblock in our path.
Questions to ask ourselves today: Do we tend to talk too much? Often put our foot in our mouth? What shuts us up quickly? What is our favorite topic to talk about?
January 12th: We are much more likely to feel comfortable taking unorthodox approaches with things, especially on the professional front, as we have enterprising Mars in industrious Capricorn sextile to innovative, freedom-seeking Uranus in creative Pisces. Job seekers may want to try new strategies today, particularly utilizing opportunities provided by social networking (Uranus rules the internet).
We all tend to shine more by inserting our clever originality into the picture, instead of mindlessly subscribing to the fuddy duddy status quo. The Universe is beckoning, actually clamoring for us today, to deviate from the norm. To venture outside of our cozy, designer-decorated boxes. Point out to her that it is “clearly written in the stars” for her to keep playing Santa now, since Jupiter rules Santa Claus, and she is in Uranian-ruled broadcasting. Tell her that this Jupiter-Uranus configuration is the very “believe in miracles” aspect that she is always talking about.

Cosmic Weather:
The Moon exits contemplative Pisces for pioneering Aries (10:24 am EST). A time when we want to be starting something new and exciting in our lives. We also have intellectual Mercury, in enthusiastic Sagittarius, square to non-conforming Uranus, the planet of sudden change, which is in idealistic Pisces. This potent aspect tends to foster the formation of more radical ideas, or radical thinking. The nature of Uranus is generally more rebellious. Uranus likes to play the devil’s advocate, too. Mercury-Uranus can confer brilliance upon us. Uranus characteristically speeds up our thinking. But, at the same time, it can also be a more mentally unstable and erratic time for us, as we get these instant revelations and then suddenly they’re gone. It could be that we want to avoid making snap decisions, and also hold off acting on any of our sudden, genius insights, for a few days. Wait until they have had some time to distill or gel.
Additionally, we have Mercury sextile to mystic guru Neptune, with Neptune ruling our link to the divine and also our psychic ability. This aspect may generate more of an intellectual desire to seek out more spiritually-based activities. Perhaps we may want to read more inspirational material, or books on psychic development. Or, try psychic experiments, which is something that I personally love to do. Neptune also rules our dreams, so this is an ideal time for paying closer attention to our dreams now, and trying to unravel their magical symbolism. Dreams can often foretell our future, if we are but able to glean their meaning. Dream study is also a great way, in general, for staying connected with our subconscious, or what’s going on below the surface of our conscious awareness.
I remember, years ago, I had a very vivid dream about boarding a train in my home town. On this train, I met a man, and rode with him for the duration of the train ride, which seemed to last forever. At the end of the dream, however, that man stayed on the train, but I got off of it. When I woke up from that dream, I intuitively immediately knew that I was going to be “meeting a man” soon in my waking life. Well, within a week, I met my husband! But, it wasn’t on a train. It was in a radio station in my home town. I was on the air doing a call-in astrology show. My life – my personal journey – of course, changed forever, when I met Daniel, and we did, indeed, embark on an extended “life trip” with each other for twenty years, until his early death from cancer. Our relationship also ended up permanently taking me away, geographically, from my birthplace, as the two of us eventually settled far away from where I was born. I was thinking this morning, too, how in the dream, I got off the train by myself, perhaps indicating that my real life journey would later include living without my husband physically by my side. BTW, years ago, I did do intuitive dream interpretation on the radio with listeners, when I had my own radio show.
Neptune additionally governs our imagination and creativity. This influence should considerably help to elevate or boost our creativity, and also help with our powers of visualization. Excellent day for any creative writing project (Mercury rules words), especially with the simultaneous Mercury-Uranus aspect, which can provide us with unique, original insights, along with a good measure of quirky thoughts, which can also sometimes be kind of cool. Neptune also rules imagery, so it’s a fantastic day for painting or photography.
On a personal note, as I mentioned several days ago, I am going to be changing some things with my blog, this year. While I have enjoyed writing the daily horoscopes, I am going to begin doing them on a weekly basis instead. I want more time to focus on other writing projects for a while. Also, there’s the matter of making more time, hopefully, for a life with George Clooney in 2011. It’s sort of like we’re driving a car with the brakes on today. It may be hard to get very far! Yes, the cruel Universe has us dealing with the ravages of “Sun square Saturn” (9:01 am EST). With the old fart (Saturn) trying to slow us down, beat us up, and pummel us at every turn. 🙂
Of course, there are some positives here: We’re building character. Learning to be wise and patient, in the face of inordinate odds and restrictions. We’re also learning how to postpone our gratification. Etc., etc.
Success is not totally out of the picture. But, we may have to work much harder for it. Such is the seemingly wicked nature of taskmaster Saturn. Too, sometimes with Sun-Saturn, some of our enterprises go belly-up for good. No real point in reviving them, either. It may be best to just cut our losses, and move on. On to bigger and better.
Fortunately for us, too, love maven Venus exits “always panting” Scorpio for “Please, just let me be free and unshackled again. That’s all I ask,” Sagittarius (7:31 am EST). Friends and acquaintances provide us with some measure of pleasure now. Impromptu and cheery Venus in Sadge does loves to have fun. Too, with Sun square Saturn lurking around today, at least we’ll be able to duly commiserate with each other in a refreshing way. Maybe even be able to see the humor in all the Saturnian gloom and doom.
Later, the bewitching Moon, up in the mysterious night sky, departs “strange bird” Aquarius for, “Let’s all just hug each other and drink till we drop,” Pisces (9:57 pm EST). “How does that sound? Like a pretty good plan?” Something we may all have to do, too, after a dire day with, “You can’t always get what you want,” Saturn. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We’ve heard all that before. Anyone feeling a tinge of sadness today because another sizzlin’ hot eclipse day has come and gone? Sort of like the party’s over upstairs. Everyone has packed up and left, and now it’s back to business as usual for the Sun, Moon, and the rest of the gang. But what the heck is going on with all of these dead blackbirds falling mysteriously from the sky in Arkansas? And now yesterday, in Louisiana, thousands of more dead blackbirds. Really weird. Also, thousands of dead fish in the Arkansas River. Some people believe it’s UFO-related. Who knows, it could be? Or, maybe it’s the Capricorn eclipse? Historically, some scary things have happened around eclipses. Too, the Republicans are poised to take over the U.S. House today when the new Congress convenes. Some see that as a cataclysmic event. Many of the new House memebers have never held an elected office before. Of course, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
Regardless of all these myriad elements, we do have some very cool lunar aspects today. Early on in the day, the ambitious Capricorn Moon throws harmonious aspects to inventive Uranus (5:30 am EST), visionary Jupiter (5:43 am EST) and love child Venus (7:16 am EST). It might be worth our while to put those aspects to use doing some creative project work, if we’re even awake then. Our intuition (Uranus) should be particularly strong. Of course, with sexy Venus still in naughty Scorpio, we may want to employ some of this clever ESP, under the sheets, in locating desired objects!
The Moon also enters “group-minded” Aquarius today (at 11:08 am EST), a time when we should forget about being an island, for a while, and go mingle instead. Aquarius denotes friends and acquaintances, groups, clubs, networking, and social causes. Also the internet. We additionally still have the tight conjunction going on between fortuitous Jupiter and genius Uranus (ruler of Aquarius) in fantasy Pisces. An aspect linked with miracles and sudden opportunities arising out of the blue. We also have a very magical creative quintile (72 degree aspect) from the Capricorn Sun to both Jupiter and Uranus. This is a dynamite day to showcase our originality and uniqueness. Especially perhaps with respect to how we part our hair, as Pisces is a sign associated with theater and masquerade, the outer costuming that we wear. The illusion that we want to create and project. It could be that we come up with entirely new ways to part our hair today, that are very riveting and sexy, and forever change the layout of our life. Venus (beauty) in transforming Scorpio is still aligned (trine) with inventive Uranus, which can bode well for new hairstyles, fashioning captivating new looks.
A few questions to maybe ask ourselves today:
How do we feel about the clubs or organizations that have granted us membership in the past?
What does it say about a club that will take us as a member? Are they that hard up?
How do we feel when we are parting our hair? Happy? Sad? Lukewarm? Panic-stricken?
Do we have any blockages or hang-ups about parting our hair a certain way? If so, why do we think this is the case? How is our natal Venus aspected in our horoscope? Is it aligned with repressed Saturn? Could it also be, perhaps, a matter of old childhood issues coming to the forefront? Maybe we need psychotherapy for resolving these delicate hair issues?
Also, how do we handle windy days and the sensitive matter of our hair? Is it best, perhaps, not to go out outdoors on those days? Maybe we should just stay inside with a scarf wrapped tightly around our head, in case someone opens the door on us, and puts our hair dramatically at risk of getting tossed around? 🙂

Challenges abound just about everywhere with gitty up Mars in Capricorn square restrictive Saturn in Libra. Our patience may be tried today and we may have to deal with cruel or repressed types, or people in authority who will not cut us any slack. In other circumstances, we may benefit by “just saying no” and walking away. Who needs the frickin’ stress?
For more “evolved types,” today’s energy may be the fuel that drives them to do truly courageous things despite humungous odds, as Mars does indicate bravery and courage, and in the face of “great tester” Saturn, karmic roadblocks can be put in our paths to deliberately “test the stuff” we’re made up. Still we may want to limit our association with governmental or bureaucratic types, ruled by Capricorn, while trying to walk on eggshells with our significant other (Libra). Too, just because he or she doesn’t cap the toothpaste today does not necessarily mean we have valid grounds for divorce! Although it may feel like it now.
Some questions to perhaps ask ourselves today:
Why are my efforts in certain areas meeting hefty resistance? Have I not done enough advance preparation or due diligence? Do I not know the right people to push through my brilliant agendas? Maybe I need to network more in 2011?
Too, it could be that I forgot to gargle with mouthwash this morning, because of that bloody brawl with my partner over the toothpaste cap? Maybe it’s simply a matter of my breath, why I’m so unpopular now? Breath could be especially odorous today, too, because of the scary motion of the planets, particularly Mars-Saturn. (The Moon also leaves “up in the air” Libra for “intense” Scorpio at 3:50 pm EST. A time when our breath can really be bad as the Moon channels our breath from past lives (Scorpio) and then and puts it in our mouths. Very foul-smelling!)
Am I wearing the wrong colors to be successful today? (With Mars square Saturn, we may have more success by dressing in all black, mirroring the glorious drab energy of the day.)

The planet Mercury, governing travel, communication, contracts, and so forth, finally stations direct at 19 degrees of Sagittarius on December 30th at 2:22 am EST. Hallelujah!
Mercury has been retrograde (appearing to be in backward motion in the night sky) since December 10th. It turned retrograde at 5 degrees of Capricorn. It will officially be retracing its “shadow” until January 17th, when it gets back to that 5-degree mark.
When Mercury is retrograde, there can be general confusion, misunderstandings, reversals, travel snafus, etc. Mercury retrograde is also a time when we “move forward” by actually “going backwards.” In other words, we “review or mull over” our recent decisions, or thinking on things. When Mercury goes direct, we are then free (cosmically cleared) to put into motion whatever we revisited or concluded when Mercury was retrograde.
The Mercury retrograde period, additionally, can be an excellent time for tossing around new strategies in our head. We just don’t want to actually implement anything new until Mercury goes direct.
Anyway, with Mercury direct again, we have the green light to make important decisions, purchase electronics and appliances, sign and or negotiate contracts, buy automobiles. We can also resume brushing our teeth in a forward motion.

On the other hand, if you are not satisfied with the message for any reason, perhaps you feel that your inflection was not quite right or seductive enough, or that you maybe should not have cussed halfway through it, and you would like to re-record it, we are sorry, but you are plum out of luck!
This is because mental Mercury has finally stationed direct in “shoot from the hip” Sagittarius. What this means is that the time period for reviews and rewinds is over! It’s time now to proceed full-throttle ahead in our thinking and communication, although we may want to wait a few days until our brain is fully thawed out before giving it anything too complicated to ponder, as our minds have been on ice for almost three weeks now.
Too, the purists among us, may want to wait until Mercury moves out of its’ “shadow period” to resume full use of the mental faculties and for rendering key decisions (January 17th). So, use your own discretion here. We only report the planets, fair and balanced. You decide what, if anything, to do with them.” 🙂
