We have a trio of major aspects now heading into Monday’s Lunar Eclipse Full Moon in Leo:

Venus in Sagittarius trines Mars in Aries (11:50 am): Venus and Mars are billed as the Cosmic Lovers so the prospects for romance may be elevated today! 🙂

In general, this is more playful energy. A good day to simply enjoy ourselves. To engage in whatever activities are fun for us or that bring us pleasure. It’s an excellent time to express our emotions, to show others what’s in our heart. There’s a nice give and take now between the sexes.

Mercury conjuncts Pluto in Capricorn (3:01 pm): This aspect is thought to be excellent for concentration. Also, for figuring out or unraveling mysteries. (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of detective Sherlock Holmes, was born with a tight Mercury and Pluto conjunction in Taurus.)

Our words may also deliver more power or impact now.

Sun in Capricorn squares Uranus in Aries (8:30 pm): When these two heavenly bodies square off with each other, it’s always a good idea to be prepared for the unexpected! If we’re wise, we’ll also want to make sure we have Plan B ready to whip out today, just in case things don’t go as scheduled.

Sun in conservative Capricorn is more of a traditionalist at heart, usually interested in achieving things like security and status, while Uranus in Aries is more interested in trailblazing and expressing its true individuality. So, we potentially have that type of internal clash going on today.  Typically, Sun square Uranus can make us more bored with our routines, more eager for variety.

The Moon also continues in flexible, curious Gemini today. An energy that supports the playfulness of the Venus and Mars, the mental probing of the Mercury-Pluto, and the desire for change that the Sun-Uranus is clamoring for.

COSMIC WEATHER:

The Moon continues in “relationship” Libra all of today and most of tomorrow (until 10:50 pm). Also, shortly after midnight on Saturday (12:52 am), the Mercury and Pluto “truth-seeking” conjunction, that has been around all week, finally becomes exact.

Late Saturday morning (11:45 am), Venus, the planetary ruler of Libra, is also forming a dreamy sextile aspect to “transcendent” Neptune, the higher octave of Venus. Venus symbolizes, among other things, the notion of “romantic love,” while Neptune goes one step further to archetypally epitomize “unconditional love,” or what some regard as “divine love,” or an “infinite love.”

Accordingly, when Venus and Neptune are paired together, there can be a tendency or desire to want to idealize our mates or partners, or to place them on the proverbial pedestal. Author Robert Brault once said that, “Love is the greatest touch-up artist of all.” 

This Venus-Neptune period can also be a time when our creativity crests.

This Date in History: Adolf Hitler was named the German Chancellor on January 30, 1933. Interestingly, “rebellious” Uranus was also in Aries, as it is today, at 19 degrees, and also square to “transforming” Pluto, which was at 21 degrees of Cancer then. Also, the Sun (leadership) was conjunct (judgmental, restrictive) Saturn, and Uranus was quinqunx to a Mars-Jupiter conjunction in “purifying” Virgo. Jupiter was also at 22 degrees of Virgo, exactly the same degree where it is today. On the shadow side, when Mars and Jupiter align, we often seen a rise in fanaticism.

Also, that very same day in America, the “Lone Ranger” was heard on radio for the first time. The program ran for 2,956 episodes and ended in 1955.

COSMIC WEATHER:

The Moon continues another day in “corrective” Virgo, ideally encouraging us to embrace a path of self-betterment. Also, it is spotlighting – via two early morning trine aspects – the ongoing “Mercury-Pluto conjunction,” a dialogue that is taking place in “serious,” Saturn-ruled Capricorn. This is, no doubt, giving way to a lot of DEEP, DEEP STUFF going on inside many of us. Mercury-Pluto, characteristically, helps us to get at the truth, on many levels.

Also, the Virgo Moon’s last aspect of the day, before turning void-of-course, is a supportive conjunction to expansive Jupiter, “the planet of abundance” (7:11 pm EST). Jupiter is also presently conjunct the “futuristic” North Node of the Moon. Possibly suggesting that this is a grand chance for us to experience a special “rendezvous with destiny!”

COSMIC WEATHER:

Ideally, while “intellectual” Mercury has been retrograde for the last three weeks or so, we have been busy mulling over our recent decisions or ideas on things – including probably doing some “mental de-weeding.” Now, we are just about ready to move forward with our worldly agendas, as Mercury stations direct in “professionally ambitious” Capricorn this afternoon (4:50 pm EST). We may want to wait, though, for a few more days, before taking any important action, allowing Mercury a chance to pick up some speed. It will also be in its “shadow period” until close to Valentine’s Day, which also happens to be Michael Bloomberg’s 74th birthday. Bloomberg announced, this weekend, that he may run for U.S. President as an independent candidate.

Mercury is also stationing direct conjunct “investigative” Pluto. This intense aspect can deliver to us greater clarity, as well as incline us to want to ponder the “hidden nature of things.” It is also a time when secrets may be revealed. On the shadow side, we may need to, however, be on the lookout for obsessive type thinking now. Mercury and Pluto will be aligned, all this week, forming an exact conjunction on January 30.

Of course, in the Eastern portion of the U.S., many of us have also been dealing with incredible traffic snarls due to the extreme (Pluto) winter weather. Thousands of airline flights have been canceled from the historic snowfalls. Mercury also governs travel and transportation. Too, Mercury-Pluto aspects sometimes expose us to “crisis situations” that require our immediate attention. Physicist and professor of science Alan Chalmers once remarked that crises are often a chance for us to refine our life. “In them you discover what you are.” Indian Leader Jawaharial Nehru also observed that “every little thing counts in a crisis.”

If you have your natal chart, you may also want to take note of what house (or area of life) that Mercury is transiting through now, as that is where you will likely be experiencing some positive momentum now, as well as potentially more insight into how to better manage that sector of your life.

This Christmas Day of 2014 finds “mental” Mercury conjunct “investigative” Pluto, allowing us the chance to deftly channel our “inner detective” to get to the bottom of things, if we so desire – although, we may also want to practice some measure of discretion with respect to how, when, and with whom we ultimately decide to share any of our findings. As most of us know: once we put something “out there,” it’s there for good. By the way, the Scottish writer, Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of “Sherlock Holmes,” had his natal Mercury in a tight conjunction with Pluto in Taurus in his “hidden” twelfth house. Michael Jackson was another person with this same planetary aspect, an influence which can also give us a “flair for the dramatic.”

Mercury-Pluto also tends to inject more passion (Pluto) into our communications (Mercury). COSMIC WEATHER:

Moon continues in, “I always have food on my mind” Cancer. A cosmic cue to keep our little fannies scurrying around the kitchen. Keep in mind, too, that we have a Full Moon in emotional Cancer tomorrow. If we’re already feeling a little “teary-eyed,” it’s because of this factor.

Additionally, we have the third and final conjunction of intellectual Mercury with, “Let me take you down, way down” Pluto in “professionally-attired” Capricorn. (The earlier two Mercury-Pluto meet-ups occurred in December 2010.)

With Mercury conjunct perceptive Pluto we journey deep within our interior corridors, looking for answers to our troubled or shady past. Pluto is the guardian of our mysterious subconscious, and aligned with curious Mercury, some of our submerged or hidden contents may suddenly rise to the surface for a thorough and final inspection. This is an excellent time for arriving at mental breakthroughs pertaining to our past. We’re capable of “piercing insights” when we dig deep now. Our communications can also be more riveting and intense.

We’re also probing externally for the possibility of finding any hastily discarded lottery tickets that could be winners. Some of us, too, may be grappling with thoughts of disrobing, while we’re probing, since Mercury-Pluto can also be a little kinky. Of course, with the Moon in foodaholic Cancer, there’s a chance that the kitchen table may also be used for purposes other than setting our plates. 🙂

Last, but not least: We may want to go online and check out the current job openings at WikiLeaks. Mercury-Pluto is associated with spying, and covert operations, and with this conjunction falling in professionally-minded Capricorn, it may be a good time to submit our resume there for maximum impact. We may also want to underscore in it, the fact, that we have big connections at Kohl’s, in the coat department, which affords us generous discounts on all the latest trench coat fashions. A compelling reality that may sway Julian Assange to bring us aboard. Furthermore, we are even privy to Hillary Clinton‘s coat size, a matter that is closely-guarded by American embassies everywhere.

With retrograde Mercury conjunct energizing Mars and regenerating Pluto in achievement Capricorn, we may seek out activities that help us to grow or redefine ourselves, especially on the professional front. There may also be a real need or desire to pioneer or blaze new trails. In order to do this, we may also find that we need to purge or let go of elements in our lives that are outworn or are holding us back.

The William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Museum open to the public in Little Rock Arkansas, with over two million photographs and 80 million documents. Communicator Mercury, ruling words and reading, is conjunct transforming Pluto in literary-minded Sagittarius, the sign of books and publishing.

Mercury-Pluto is often a time when our mental perceptions are transmuted in wake of new information, new perceptions. What has been secret or kept private may now come into full view.

The ruler of Sagittarius, expansive Jupiter, in diplomatic Libra, was also exactly trine to imaginative Neptune in Aquarius; Jupiter is also associated with politics and political statesmen. With Jupiter trine Neptune, there is also more of a predilection and mindset to idealize or put a positive spin on things.
