With maternal Luna and communicator Mercury harmoniously trine to each other in intuitive, feelings-oriented water signs (3:15 pm), it may be hard to resist wearing our hearts on our sleeves!

Positive Moon-Mercury pairings are naturally thought to lend themselves to our being better equipped to articulate/express whatever it is we are feeling or thinking. Our ability to listen and be receptive to what others are sharing is also ideally enhanced now as the trine aspect is perceived to make matters more effortless.

Mercury in Cancer can also be a wonderful storyteller as there is seemingly more of a talent for sharing personal experiences and showing genuine emotions with this placement.

On June 7, 1982, Graceland, the iconic home of Elvis Presley in Memphis, Tennessee, was opened for public tours by Elvis’ widow, Priscilla Presley, along with Elvis’ aunt, Delta Presley Biggs, who participated in the ceremonial blue ribbon cutting. The event drew around 3,000 fans who paid $5 admission to be among the first to tour the estate five years after Elvis’s death in 1977.

(Astrologically, that day, the authoritative Sun in ever-curious, conversational Gemini was in a one-degree trine to structuring Saturn in artistic, public-minded Libra. Sun-Saturn aspects are generally regarded as excellent for potentially laying solid foundations and enduring long-term commitments in relationships. On this first Saturday in June, the Waning Gibbous Moon is deposited in airy, independent Aquarius for the bulk of the day. Its awkward quincunx to lovey-dovey Venus (4:40 am) and bloviating Jupiter, (11:21 am) both snuggled together in nesting, clinging Cancer, may be all the motivation that we need to temporarily fly the coop now, so as to ideally gain some much-needed personal space/breathing room/objectivity. 🙂

Shortly afterwards, Luna shifts into introspective Pisces (8:43 pm) ideally setting the scene, over the next two days, for soothing self-renewal. Also, an excellent period to maybe reflect upon some of the fresh new awarenesses stemming from the recent Full Moon in Sagittarius.

Thanks to intellectual Mercury’s challenging square to confused, space cadet Neptune, in muscular he-man Aries today (8:18 pm), it could be that trying to sort out fact from fiction may be too much of a heavy lift. Especially since we also have Mercury deposited in maudlin, cry me a river Cancer, which tends to diminish objectivity.

Too, what we often find with the more difficult Mercury-Neptune aspects (illusionist Neptune, by the way, is known as the “Great Dissolver”) is that there may be big chunks of pivotal information that is either missing or being held back – possibly even lost in outer space, in this case! – which can, of course, potentially place us at an obvious disadvantage. Which is why it would probably behoove us now to make sure that if we are in doubt about something, to make sure that we either try to ask some questions for clarification or possibly attempt to gather more information before formulating a final decision on a matter.

On June 3, 1967, Aretha Franklin’s cover of the Otis Redding’s song “Respect” reaches #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Astrologically, that day, abundant and expansive Jupiter was newly ensconced in entertainment Leo, at one degree of the sign, and artistic, feminine-ruling Venus, at 27 degrees of sensitive Cancer, was applying to a conjunction with Jupiter, a configuration that is perceived to be very lucky or propitious. (We have it coming up on June 9th!)

Also, the empowering Sun in Gemini was sextile to enduring Saturn in pioneering Aries (which is also an aspect that we just had yesterday). Harmonizing Sun-Saturn aspects often add staying power to matters.

It appears that we may now have an enhanced ability today – at least on paper – to channel forth our inner taskmaster so as to get important projects accomplished, (Aries) trails blazed, deadlines met without requiring a whole lot of fanfare or handholding. 🙂

On June 2, 1953, at just 27 years old, Queen Elizabeth II was formally crowned at Westminster Abbey. Though she had officially become monarch more than a year earlier upon the sudden death of her father, King George VI.

What truly set the coronation apart from all previous ones was the decision to broadcast it on television. Against the initial advice of Prime Minister Winston Churchill and traditionalists, the Queen insisted that the cameras be allowed inside Westminster Abbey. Many bought or rented their very first television sets just for this day.

Astrologically, among the aspects that day, pioneering Mars and reporter Mercury were exactly conjunct in broadcast-ruling Gemini and sextile to transformational Pluto (governing the masses) in opulent Leo, the official domain of kings and queens.

Too, when Mercury and Mars are paired up, especially in intellectual Gemini, and aligned with intense Pluto, we tend to have an ultra-keen mental focus regarding the matters at hand; it’s like something riveting or extra captivating is seizing our attention.

It appears that the planets are appropriately towing the line this Mother’s Day as the purposeful Sun in steadfast, devoted Taurus forms a harmonizing sextile to magnanimous, inclusive Jupiter in maternal Cancer (10:14 pm), an influence that ideally serves to foster/strengthen our relationships, especially those that connect us to our familial or ancestral roots.

Jupiter is viewed as the “growth factor” in astrology and when it is deposited in nurturing Cancer it is thought that we are more amenable to displaying greater amounts of empathy or compassion, which can also, ideally, add to our own reservoir of personal well-being. I am in the midst of going through/reviewing some of my older astrology blogs on this site. Today, I came across a blog on the transiting Sun square to Uranus, which I wrote and published on July 12, 2015. (At the time, the Sun was in Cancer and Uranus was in Aries.) Anyway, I thought I would go ahead and include an excerpt from that blog below since we also have the Sun in Aquarius exactly square to Uranus in Taurus on February 16th (at 12:02 am), a similar influence except for the sign placements. Hope you enjoy!

“The nature of life is such that it continually requires us to take ongoing leaps in the dark, or to venture down roads that we’re not altogether familiar with. Today, with the empowering Sun squaring experimental Uranus, the planet of change, innovation, and rebellion, it appears that we tend to thrive, or come more fully into our own now, by intentionally cultivating a love of the unknown; by deciding to tolerate or accept ambiguities; by finding a way to make peace with possibly uncomfortable outcomes or results that may not be exactly what we had originally intended or envisioned for ourselves, but which may be very valuable and necessary for our soul’s unique purpose.

Lao Tzu taught that life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes, and that we should not resist them as that only causes sorrow. Always very good advice to heed, but especially for today when a wave of uncertainty seems to be on the horizon.

Good afternoon!

Waxing Luna spends most of the day in home and family-oriented Cancer, sextiling electrifying Uranus in Taurus midafternoon (2:55 pm), when we possibly may be tempted to perk up our living space in unique/offbeat ways. This aspect may also help deliver sudden insights about what best nurtures or feeds us emotionally as well as possibly showering us with some novel ideas about how to add to our material security.

Later, Luna trines structuring Saturn in Pisces (4:52 pm). This potentially could be a stabilizing influence in which we may be more inclined to approach our affairs or goals in a more organized/responsible/mature manner. May also be favorable for setting up/erecting healthy emotional boundaries with others.

The Cancer Moon then enters confident Leo the Lion this evening (7:09 pm) and almost immediately throws a harmonious trine to visionary Neptune in Aries (7:23 pm). This may find us wanting to take action on our spiritual ideals or what we may perceive to be our soul’s special purpose.

This is also the first time that the Leo Moon has aspected Neptune in Aries in nearly 160 years, so they will also, undoubtedly, have a lot to catch up on! 

Additionally, this Moon-Neptune influence favors artistic or creative expression – and with Luna now deposited in theatrical Leo – there’s potentially more of a flair for the dramatic. Of course, too, we have the Leo Full Moon tomorrow, so the energies are nearing a crescendo point.

On This Day in History: The first daytime network TV soap opera – These Are My Children – debuts on January 31, 1949, and is broadcast live on Chicago’s NBC station. It’s the first in what will become an institution of daytime drama serials, many of which will be sponsored by soap manufacturers!

Astrologically, that day, dreamy, escapist Neptune in relationship-minded Libra was exactly trine to intellectual Mercury in trendsetting Aquarius, the sign that rules broadcasting. Too, Mercury-Neptune is typically perceived as an aspect that whets our appetite for immersion into such things as fairy tales or storytelling.

Also, love Goddess Venus and Jupiter, the planet of abundance, were conjunct in corporate Capricorn. Venus-Jupiter conjunctions are normally viewed as positive for financial prosperity, romance, and creative/artistic expression.

Good morning!

It appears the Universe is doling out loaves of sourdough bread – instead of mere crumbs today – with its benign, pleasant Mercury-Venus pairing (5:17 am) in egalitarian Aquarius. 🙂

Ideally, communicator Mercury’s conjunction with sweetheart Venus gives us a chance to collaborate/showcase our diplomatic side. However, since the water bearer’s overarching style is friendly, but detached, don’t expect to hear/utter anything too mushy or romantic at this time.

That said, it can be an excellent period to discuss/kick around new approaches/solutions to issues – especially if they are maybe a bit offbeat or out of the norm.

Too, we still have five planets in cutting-edge Aquarius, including the highly charged transformational Mars-Pluto conjunction, so our overall receptivity to trying/entertaining new concepts is potentially more pronounced.

On another level, today’s Mercury-Venus conjunction might be a boon for activities such as marketing, including launching social media or PR campaigns.

(Too, Democratic Senator Nancy Klobuchar (b. May 25, 1960) announced her candidacy for governor of Minnesota, earlier this morning. Ought to be interesting to see how her campaign goes as she will also have change-oriented Uranus conjunct her Sun for most of the second half of the year, an aspect which sometimes can feel a bit like a rollercoaster ride as the pace around us tends to quicken then.)

Is the world’s richest man – Elon Musk – a follower of astrology?

Reportedly, Musk told the Financial Times this week that he is considering targeting mid-June for his SpaceX IPO to coincide with the planetary alignment (conjunction) of Jupiter and Venus, typically an aspect associated with abundance and blessings (Jupiter), and having more of what we want or desire (Venus). Jupiter is also linked with long-distance travel, while Venus rules money.

Here’s an excerpt below from barrons.com on the story:

SpaceX is targeting a mid-June initial public offering that would coincide with a rare planetary alignment and founder Elon Musk’s birthday, the Financial Times reported on Wednesday, as the billionaire entrepreneur seeks to raise a record $50 billion.

The rocket company is planning its IPO for when Jupiter and Venus appear very close together in the sky — a conjunction that occurs for the first time in more than three years on June 8-9, the FT said, citing people familiar with the matter.

The timing, which the report said was subject to change, also aligns closely with June 28, Musk’s 54th birthday.

Astrology Brief January 27, 2026: Mars Conjuncts Pluto, Neptune in Aries

Good afternoon!

We kick off the last Tuesday in January with elusive Neptune – the planet of our colossal dreams, imagination, spirituality, and compassion – spending its first full day in pedal to the metal Aries! Neptune is a generational planet, and it will be hanging out in Aries until 2038-2039.

Too, just as Neptune was re-entering momentum-building Aries yesterday – after a short stay in the sign last year, from March to October  – it was announced by the Israeli military that the remains of the last hostage in Gaza were recovered from a cemetery in northern Gaza  – potentially  marking a significant development in the ongoing ceasefire and paving the way for the next phase of negotiations. Neptune is traditionally depicted in astrology as the “Great Dissolver” and its ray has often been activated/implicated when there have been efforts to arrive at more peaceful/unifying solutions to end (Aries-ruled) conflicts.

Personally, and collectively, Neptune is widely regarded as helping to sensitize us to the pain or misfortune that others are feeling/experiencing.

Today, energizer Mars, the planetary ruler of the sign of the ram, is also exactly conjunct power-seeking, mass influencer Pluto in Aquarius, the sign of the water bearer, which symbolizes the flow of ideas (6:02 pm).

When these two heavenly bodies team up (which they do about every two years) the thought among many astrologers is to potentially expect some really big transformational (Pluto) stuff/elements to occur in society as well as in our personal lives.

Aquarius represents change, innovation, technology, social justice issues, and generally more progressive/humanitarian type thinking. 

Mars conjunct Pluto is also often characterized as a period when we are more apt to want to stand up for/defend our beliefs and values, especially when deposited in individualistic Aquarius which sometimes finds us wanting to do battle with the status quo.

Too, Aquarius is a fixed sign and can be very stubborn, so with Mars-Pluto aligned in Aquarius, on the shadow side, there may be a tendency to dig our heels in and not budge from our agendas.

Too, CNBC.com is reporting, just now, that Tik-Tok has agreed to settle a social media addiction trial that was slated to kick off today, with Meta and YouTube going forward with it. CNBC states online that the trial is the first of multiple major legal cases against (Aquarian-ruled) social media companies in 2026 that have drawn comparisons to lawsuits brought against ‘Big Tobacco’ in the 1990s.

Ought to be interesting to see how these suits play out! Not sure there’s always a clear path to proving addiction though.

Too, in the short-term, Mars-Pluto energy is seen as excellent for getting at the truth or exposing what has possibly been hidden. Neptune is also associated with addictive behavior.

On this very first Monday in 2026, the proud “Leo the Lion” Moon is in it Waning Gibbous Phase and quincunx to Venus, the Sun, and Mars – all deposited in worldly ambitious Capricorn; quincunx aspects often signal the need to make adjustments.

A possible theme for today: How do we placate, pay homage, or brilliantly integrate our presumed oversized emotional need for recognition/praise/power now (Leo Moon) while also carrying out the daily grind of our noble life purpose (Sun in Capricorn)? 🙂

In Business News: Perhaps a knee-jerk response to Nicolas Maduro’s capture over the weekend, but Chevron and other energy stocks are up premarket on the notion that the companies would benefit from building Venezuela’s oil infrastructure. Gold and bitcoin prices also gained. (CNBC.com)

Neptune, which symbolizes oil in astrology, is currently at the tail end of Pisces and is poised to re-enter the “new beginnings” sign of Aries on January 26, where it will stay until May 21, 2038.

Meanwhile, Maduro is also slated to appear midday in a NYC courtroom on drug trafficking charges just as the Leo Moon quincunxes assertive Mars in rules-making/law-enforcing Capricorn.
