Cosmic Weather:

“Don’t make excuses for why you can’t get it done. Focus on all the reasons why you must get it done.” – Ralph Marston

Sun in Gemini sextile Saturn in Aries (6:49 pm):

It appears that we may now have an enhanced ability today – at least on paper – to channel forth our inner taskmaster so as to get important projects accomplished, (Aries) trails blazed, deadlines met without requiring a whole lot of fanfare or handholding. 🙂

Sun-Saturn aspects are also deemed supportive for displaying leadership prowess with the Sun symbolizing our sense of personal power, self-confidence and authority and Saturn signifying our capacity for self-discipline, responsibility, and ability to work hard to reach our goals.

Too, with the Sun inhabiting curious, eclectic Gemini we potentially are primed to be more flexible or accommodating in our approaches now, which can be a nice counterpoint to the more seemingly unyielding energy of reality-stickler Saturn, which is typically regarded as the standard bearer/cheerleader of all that is traditional or tried and true.

“Experience without theory is blind, but theory without experience is mere intellectual play.” – Immanuel Kant

On This Day in History:

On June 2, 1953, at just 27 years old, Queen Elizabeth II was formally crowned at Westminster Abbey. Though she had officially become monarch more than a year earlier upon the sudden death of her father, King George VI.

What truly set the coronation apart from all previous ones was the decision to broadcast it on television. Against the initial advice of Prime Minister Winston Churchill and traditionalists, the Queen insisted that the cameras be allowed inside Westminster Abbey. Many bought or rented their very first television sets just for this day.

Across the Atlantic, the Royal Air Force flew recordings across the ocean so millions in North America could watch on the same day. It was the world’s first truly global television event! (MSN.com)

Astrologically, among the aspects that day, pioneering Mars and reporter Mercury were exactly conjunct in broadcast-ruling Gemini and sextile to transformational Pluto (governing the masses) in opulent Leo, the official domain of kings and queens.

Too, when Mercury and Mars are paired up, especially in intellectual Gemini, and aligned with intense Pluto, we tend to have an ultra-keen mental focus regarding the matters at hand; it’s like something riveting or extra captivating is seizing our attention.

Too, Mercury and Mars were harmoniously trine to structuring, status-minded Saturn and dreamy, idealistic Neptune, which were closely conjunct in socially minded, diplomatic Libra, with the Saturn-Neptune energy potentially imparting, among other things, a strong sense of fairness and responsibility to others as well as a greater appreciation of beauty and, perhaps, appetite for pomp and circumstance.

Additionally, the Gemini Sun was conjunct expansive Jupiter, the planet of luck, vision and prosperity, an aspect which is often tied to the occurrence of mega/large-scale events, perhaps a natural byproduct of pairing the two largest bodies in our solar system together.

“I declare before you that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong.” – Queen Elizabeth II

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Cosmic Weather:

It’s always nice to begin our Monday with a little bit of extra zing, going for us – and that appears to be the situation today!

The Waning Moon (governing our emotions) first shifts into “start me up” Aries, this morning (6:02 am), the sign of new beginnings, and then, later tonight, the Sun (ego, purpose, and will) follows suit with a shift into “self-expressive” Leo the Lion (10:50 pm), where it will hang out for the next 30 days, giving us ample time to “strut our stuff” as well as display/employ/develop our creative abilities and leadership skills. When the Sun is in proud, self-confident Leo, we naturally like to be in charge. We also crave the limelight. The Sun will be joining assertive Mars, already in Leo, and, later this week, lovable Venus will also be entering this kingly-queenly sign.

Another cool thing about today is that, numerologically, it’s the 22nd day of the month. The number 22 is considered to be a “master number” and is linked with the “master builder” vibration, potentially allowing us to manifest our dreams with greater ease.

Also, the simple fact that it’s a Monday, the beginning of the workweek, can inspire or re-motivate us to, once again, get going with our lofty, very laudable agendas. (In Daniel H. Pink’s latest book “When”, he mentions “Mondays” as one of the “temporal landmarks” associated with fresh starts.)

Too, since the Moon is in its waning phase and decision-maker Mercury is retrograde until July 31st, it may be best to focus on putting the finishing touches on our magnifico creations now instead of rolling out anything new.

“Starting is not most people’s problem, staying, continuing and finishing is.” Darren Hardy

*All times EDT

On This Day in History: On July 22, 1959, Ed Wood’s cult classic “Plan 9 From Outer Space” (an independently produced science fiction-horror film) called one of the worst films ever, premieres.

Astrologically, that day, presenter Mercury was stationing retrograde in “Hollywood director” Leo conjunct eccentric, quirky Uranus (the planet which also governs science fiction). Enterprising Mars was also newly-installed in detail-minded Virgo conjunct “shock-jock” Pluto. Mars and Pluto were also trine to “Father Time” Saturn in “professionally-minded” Capricorn which is maybe why the movie is still being talked about today. Trines to Saturn are associated with longevity (or staying power).

Hope you enjoy your Monday!

Cosmic Weather:

Often, it seems, it is not so much what is said, as the way that it is said that is most memorable and ends up packing the greatest punch. With the “winged-messenger” Mercury’s entrance into “kingly” Leo the Lion, later this evening (8:19 pm), the sign of the entertainer, our communication style now has a better chance of radiating our own personal flair, our sense of drama, our creativity, our warmth.

In Sun-ruled Leo, our words (Mercury) are given extra shine or luster (Leo rules gold). We are also capable of speaking/writing/articulating with more authority, more self-confidence (including more ego-involvement).

“The art of communication is the language of leadership.” – James Humes

(Mercury will be going retrograde in Leo on July 7th and re-entering the sign of Cancer, mid-July, before it returns for another round in Leo, in mid-August. When Mercury is retrograde, we often go inward to review, recheck, revise or revisit our previous decisions/plans.)

Meanwhile, the Moon also continues her passage through enterprising, self-focused Aries today prompting us to take initiative, to be courageous.

“Courage is the most important of all the virtues because without courage, you can’t practice any other virtue consistently.” Maya Angelou

Famous People with Mercury in Leo: Antonio Banderas, Michael Phelps, Anjelica Huston, Kellie Pickler, Dan Aykroyd, Barack Obama.

On This Day in History: On June 26, 2015, US Supreme Court rules 5-4 same-sex marriage is a legal right across all US states.

Astrologically, on that day, the Moon was in the matrimonial sign of Libra (which also rules the courts). The North Node (the future) was also in Libra and was being squared (squares force issues) by the empowering Sun in empathetic Cancer.

Assertive Mars had also just entered Cancer (the sign of home and family) and was applying to a conjunction to the Sun as well as a square to the Libra North Node.

Additionally, relationship maven, Venus, was also moving into exact conjunction (2 degrees) with inclusive-minded, philosophical Jupiter (the planet that also rules judges). Venus and Jupiter were both in magnanimous, warm-hearted Leo.

Enjoy your Wednesday!

daily astrology, daily horoscope, directness, last quarter moon, leadership, Moon conjunct Chiron, Moon in Aries, Prince releases Purple Rain album, Sun in Cancer, vulnerability

Cosmic Weather:

With the arrival of the Last Quarter Moon, this morning (at 5:46 am), we’re likely becoming more aware of what’s going to be sticking around with us and what’s not, as we ready ourselves for the journey of the upcoming New Moon (a Total Solar Eclipse) and it’s promise of new beginnings (next Tuesday). It is during this Last Quarter Moon phase that we cut loose or release whatever is outworn, or not needed anymore.

The Moon’s placement today in self-assertive Aries also suggests that our (power) moves today will be executed with directness, self-confidence, and probably high energy, as well as (potentially) some measure of impatience or impulsiveness. (Ideally, Luna in Aries primes us for assuming fearless leadership.)

Of course, with Luna’s conjunction with Chiron (10:20 am) and square to the tenacious Cancer Sun, there’s also another part of us – “the resistance movement” – that may be tempted to post a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door now, so we can retreat or hide under the covers today to soothingly nurse/lick our wounds; protect/review our vulnerabilities. All part of the natural pushback or inner tension that is often registered or felt inside of us when Luna is at a Quarter Moon Phase. Accordingly, a challenge now is to perhaps find a way to strike up a sense of inner peace or balance among the discordant inner factions.

“Peace is the result of retraining your mind to process life as it is, rather than as you think it should be.” – Wayne Dyer

Question for Today: When do you know it’s time to let go of something?

On This Day in History: On June 25, 1984, Prince (b. 6/07/58) releases his “Purple Rain” album.

I never meant to cause you any sorrow
I never meant to cause you any pain
I only wanted one time to see you laughing
I only want to see you laughing in the purple rain

Hope you enjoy your Tuesday!

The Ship

(Today’s Planetary Aspects: The Moon is void-or-course in balancing Libra until 1:57 pm when it enters transforming Scorpio; Moon trines initiating Mars in protective Cancer at 5:01 pm. All times posted are for EDT.)

Cosmic Quote of the Day: “Don’t wait for your ship to come in, swim out to it.” Cathy Hopkins

When we seize the moment, or are otherwise engaged with life, we tend to feel better about ourselves. The mere act of taking action also signals to the subconscious that we interested in our lives, and our future. Taking initiative is also a marvelous way for us to bolster our self-esteem and confidence.

Today, the Moon is void-of-course in Libra until 1:57pm, so for the first half of the day, it is best to continue with or finish projects that we already have in the works, or to use this time period for pausing or reflection. Once the Moon enters investigative Scorpio at 1:57 pm, we have the green light to go ahead with new endeavors. The Scorpio Moon imparts a strong desire to get at the truth. We are also more poised to be led by our passions at this time.

At 5:01 pm, the waxing Scorpio Moon forms a flowing trine to energizing Mars, which is newly installed in security-oriented Cancer. This harmonious aspect may motivate us to take swift, determined action toward our goals. This invigorating influence also gives us a wonderful chance to show off or display our leadership ability. On a personal level, this energy is excellent for building emotional rapport with others as well as for mending or reconciling our relational ties.

“Motivation is the fuel, necessary to keep the human engine running.” Zig Ziglar

COSMIC WATCH:

Fire_planet 2

Mars, the energy planet, that inspires us to take action in the real world, enters “pioneering” Aries tonight (7:12 pm EST), the zodiacal sign that it rules, where it will stay until March 31st. Ideally, this placement will supply us with a full tank of “high-octane motivation,” in the coming days and weeks ahead, especially to tackle some of those highly personal projects that we may have had on the back burner, for a while now. Included here, might be a few of those endearing New Year’s resolutions – remember those? – that for, whatever reason, haven’t been allowed to gain much traction in our busy lives.

Also, Aries is the “sign of the self,” so the self-promotion, self-development, self-focus is perfectly acceptable and fully expected now, with Mars moving through this sector of the zodiac. One of my favorite quotes is by Wayne Dyer: “Don’t die with your music still inside you.” Too, unless we make the conscious effort to self-actualize – which Mars in Aries will be encouraging all of us to do now – no one else is going to do it for us. Getting our music “out into the world” is, and always has been, an inside job. And, if we’re lucky, we may catch a break or two, along the way.

Of course, too, it often takes a commitment of real physical energy – actual muscle and sweat – to bring our precious dreams and goals into manifestation, and with Mars holed up in watery, mutable Pisces, since mid-January, for some of us, that actual energetic component may have been sorely lacking, as of late. Mars in “transcendent” Pisces, though, hopefully has been great for nurturing our inner vision, or inner awareness, so now we readily know and recognize the work before us in the outer world that we have to do, must do, if we are going to cultivate and realize our life’s potential, or purpose.

Mars in Aries is, potentially, a grand opportunity for us to really develop and display our courage and leadership abilities. Symbolically, it can act as a strong ally for us in helping us to face down our fears or doubts. On an archetypal level, Mars in Aries awakens our inner “brigadier general,” challenging us to take full command of our lives and our destinies – as much as is humanly possible, of course. Granted, we don’t always hold “all the strings,” but we are in control of the choices that we make and, at the end of the day, that’s pretty heady stuff to command, don’t you think? Author Caroline Myss says “our thoughts and our attitudes” are our true power. Yet, so many of us fail to realize this, until it’s often too late.

Meanwhile, intellectual Mercury in “observational” Aquarius is also sextiling “wise old owl” Saturn, today, in “positive” Sagittarius. This influence is excellent for mentoring others, or for taking someone under our wing to encourage them. It’s also a good time to come up with practical solutions to our problems, culled, of course, from years of our impressive, voluminous experience in the school of hard knocks. 🙂 This aspect also favors concentration and attention to detail. Might also be a good time to look up old friends, or acquaintances.

Question for Today: If I had enough courage, my next step would be to (fill in the blank).

Famous February 19 Birthdays: Smokey Robinson, Nicolaus Copernicus, Lee Marvin

“In the midst of all dwells the Sun. For who could set this luminary in another or better place in this most glorious temple, than whence he can at one and the same time brighten the whole.” Nicolaus Copernicus

Astrology August 27, 2013: Mars Enters Authoritative Leo

astrology for august 27 2013, frank sinatra, leadership, Lyndon B. Johnson, mars enters Leo August 27 2013, Michael Jordan, Paul McCartney, Ronald Reagan, Yasser Arafat

COSMIC WATCH:

“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” John Quincy Adams.

In the last few years, so much has been written on the topic of leadership. One of the best known contemporary writers and coaches on the subject is, John Maxwell. When it comes to actually defining leadership, Maxwell simply describes it, “as influence – nothing more, nothing less.”

In astrology, Mars, the planet that symbolizes our passion and drive (including our sex drive), and inspires us to do our best and be our best, is also the planet that signifies our raw leadership ability (along with the Sun). As it passes through the twelve signs, our particular leadership style is denoted.

Tonight (at 10:05 pm EDT), Mars moves into proud, “Leo the Lion,” where it will stay until October 15.

Mars is very comfortable and at home in Leo. Its leadership style here is very take-charge and commanding, and often it is quite charismatic and creative here. Some famous people and celebrities with Mars in Leo, include: George Clooney, Jodie Foster, Beyonce Knowles, Hillary Clinton, Robert Redford, Paul McCartney, Frank Sinatra, and Michael Jordan.

Since Mars is, potentially, a more powerful force to be reckoned with, when it’s in Leo, a fixed, fire sign, this suggests that we may also be able to more readily tap into our own personal power now and leverage it, over the next few weeks, especially if we focus our efforts diligently, and concentrate on a few key things that we really want to accomplish.

Too, this is not a time to fritter away our time or talent on low priority items, or for wrapping up loose ends. Mars in Leo is all about in getting to the heart of a matter and taking control.

And, of course, as we expend more energy outward, confidently shaping and defining our special cubbyhole in the world, we also will have a greater chance to spread our individual “sphere of influence” around. John Maxwell cautions us here, though, that, “before we try to lead others, we must first lead ourselves.” A good point to remember.

Too, the house (or area of life) in our birth chart, that Mars is moving through now, is being highly energized. We may find that we have to devote more of our time or resources to dealing specifically with the issues of that house.

“To be successful you have to be selfish, or else you never achieve. And once you get to your highest level, then you have to be unselfish. Stay reachable. Stay in touch. Don’t isolate.” Michael Jordan

Another note about Mars now: It may also be interesting to see what happens to the price of gold, in the coming weeks, while Mars, the momentum planet, winds its way through colorful Leo. Leo is the zodiacal sign that rules the precious metal. Yesterday, on the heels of Mars moving into Leo, gold reached its highest level since June 7th, most likely based on the uncertainty in Syria and the Middle East (Mars also rules the military). Of course, Mars can also be a very volatile planet, so wide swings here in the price of gold, cannot be ruled out.

Famous Birthdays August 27: Yasser Arafat, Bob Kerrey, Lyndon B. Johnson. “Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose.” Lyndon B. Johnson

COSMIC WATCH:

The adrenalin continues to cycle through us today with the Moon in “unstoppable” Aries the Ram which helps to provide momentum and perhaps a pioneering spirit for whatever it is that we want to achieve now. Additionally, we may want to observe the characteristic manner in which we tend to assert ourselves for extra insight about our nature. “Make definite assertions. Avoid tame, colorless, hesitating, non-committal language.” William Strunk Jr.

Numerologically, there is also a strong leadership vibe to the day with it being the 10th day of the month. “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” John Quincy Adams

Famous July 10 Birthdays: Arlo Guthrie, David Brinkley. “A successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks other have thrown at him.” David Brinkley

COSMIC WATCH:

“What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

We are still likely in the “wanting to conquer the world” mode with the Moon ensconced a second day in pioneering Aries. 🙂 Too, we just may be able to do it! We have the clever Gemini Sun, denoting our executive ability, forming a harmonious trine to solidifying Saturn (8:12 am EDT). A time when we are often able to see tangible evidence of our past efforts finally beginning to emerge. Sun-Saturn is also very supportive for long-term planning.

We may additionally feel a greater sense of duty or responsibility to others now. The nature of Saturn tends to be more serious and paternalistic. This is an excellent day to demonstrate our own personal brand of leadership. Also to seek out advice from those persons we regard as mentors. “The task of leadership is not to put greatness into humanity, but to elicit it, for the greatness is already there.” John Buchan

Looking Back: This same “Sun Trine Saturn” influence last year (June 2) coincided with Mitt Romney, the former Republican governor of Massachusetts, throwing his hat in the ring, a second time, for the U.S. presidency.

Would you describe yourself as more of a leader or a follower? What constitutes a good leader in your mind?

With the Moon in “self-confident” Leo the Lion today we want to be focusing on our strengths or positive qualities. We also want to be looking for these same things in others. Finding a way to praise or lift others up is the hallmark of a true leader.

“A boss creates fear, a leader confidence. A boss fixes blame, a leader corrects mistakes. A boss knows all, a leader asks questions. A boss makes work drudgery, a leader makes it interesting. A boss is interested in himself or herself, a leader is interested in the group.” Russell H. Ewing

Famous People with Moon in Leo: Barbra Streisand, Queen Latifah

Enjoy your Monday!
