Cosmic Weather:

“Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit.” E.E. Cummings

With the Waxing Moon ensconced in commanding Leo, the sign of the lion, this is a natural time of the month for us to go about expressing our courage, creativity, and self-confidence.

An early morning lunar trine to the pioneering Aries Sun (12:54 am) also primes us for adventure or risk-taking. This is also excellent for any cooperative venture.

Luna’s square to erratic Uranus in Taurus (9:45 am) may find us temporarily more concerned with self-preservation, money, and or security matters. While we may want to embrace our personal freedom and self-expression, we are also possibly concerned about upending some of our stability, in the process. Incorporating a bit of flexibility into our outlook, however, can be the key to our getting ahead now and also a positive way for us to enjoy even more personal growth and well-being in the future as we are able to discover that there are often more choices available to us then we are sometimes able to grasp or perceive in any given moment. All we have to do is be willing to ferret them out.

The Leo Moon’s opposition to cautious Saturn in collective-ruling Aquarius (1:38 pm) could find us wanting to pull back a bit from relationships/social interactions. It can also sensitize us more to other people’s remarks, particularly to criticism. Revisiting the past may also be tempting now and constructive, especially if we are able to find a way to capitalize on lessons learned.

Luna will also sextile Mars in versatile Gemini today (4:08 pm). This is excellent emotional energy for connecting us with our passions and talents. A wider array of opportunities may also suddenly appear on the horizon as we open ourselves to new ideas or ways of thinking.

*All times EDT

On This Day in History: On March 24, 1853, the anti-slavery newspaper “The Provincial Freeman” was first published in Windsor, Ontario, edited by Samuel Ringgold Ward and Mary Ann Shadd, the first Black woman newspaper publisher in North America and Canada’s first female publisher. It was the second newspaper in Canada to present the views and concerns of the Black community. The paper’s final issue was published on September 20, 1857.

Astrologically, on March 24, 1853, compassionate Neptune in unifying Pisces was exactly sextile to wounded healer Chiron in more traditionally-minded Capricorn. Transforming Pluto was also at 0 degrees of values-minded Taurus (a critical degree). Writer Mercury was also in trailblazing Aries and applying to an exact trine to philosophical Jupiter, the planet which governs publishing. This trine aspect is great for disseminating our ideas and teachings, or for shaping/influencing narratives. Jupiter was also strengthened by being in its home sign of scholarly Sagittarius.

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Cosmic Weather:

“Each time we face our fear, we gain strength, courage, and confidence in the doing.” Theodore Roosevelt

The Waxing Moon remains in colorful, self-confident Leo today and is forming an opposition to self-assertive Mars around lunchtime (at 12:04 pm). This aspect can provide us with intense emotion and a fighting spirit to achieve our ends. Since Mars is also in community-minded Aquarius, we may feel more motivated to involve ourselves in teamwork and a shared cause at this time. On the shadow side, the Moon-Mars energy is sometimes associated with impulsivity or being more easily irritated so we may need to dial back our responses, a bit, if we wish to, among other things, preserve the peace. On the other hand, Moon-Mars can also be a time when we deliberately choose to clear the air, especially if we have been carrying around pent-up grievances, as this planetary alignment tends to provide us with more courage and directness to speak our truth. On another level, the Moon in Leo can also put us in touch with our personal pride, or how we conduct ourselves with dignity and respect and show the same to others.

“Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would have others think of us.” Jane Austen

Born On This Day: Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, in 1881, a French idealist philosopher and Jesuit priest who trained as a paleontologist and geologist and took part in the discovery of the Peking Man (Wikipedia). daily astrology, Moon in Aries, Moon square Jupiter, new beginnings, numerology, self-confidence

Cosmic Weather:

We have a big costume change midway through the day, today! 🙂

First Half: We start out our Thursday with the waxing Moon still in sensitive, go with the flow Pisces. So granting ourselves perhaps a few moments of blissful solitude can be a perfect way for us to get gently centered in the rhythm of the day. The Pisces Moon is also void-of-course for over 7 hours today (from 3:15 am until 2:44 pm, when it ingresses into Aries), meaning it’s probably best to put off starting new projects until this void period is over.

Second Half: Once Luna rockets into fiery Aries, this afternoon, we’re once again cleared for taking direct action and generating exciting new beginnings.

With the reflective Moon also governing our emotional responses, in Aries the ram we tend to react quickly and impatiently to things, which can result in our potentially being more confrontational. Too, engaging in physical activity, such as working out at the gym, is often a great way to diffuse any tension we may be feeling now.

Shortly after the Moon enters Aries it also forms a waxing square to expansive Jupiter, still newly installed in ambitious, authoritarian Capricorn (4:09 pm). Luna squaring Jupiter tends to inflate our self-confidence or sense of self-importance. Nothing wrong with this unless we perhaps end up taking on, or committing to, more than we can handle. We are also possibly more apt to having philosophical differences with others now. On the plus side, this aspect can teach us how to become more tolerant, but only if we’re willing to entertain different points of view. Sometimes, too, when Jupiter is afflicted by aspect, it takes on a very zealous quality which, on the shadow side, can make us more narrow-minded, arrogant, or self-righteous in our beliefs.

“Once you create a self-justifying storyline, your emotional entrapment within it quadruples.” Pema Chodron

Numerologically, it’s a “five” day which can also be very energetic and mentally restless. The challenge is to find a way to contain the energy in a productive way. There’s also somewhat of a rebel or non-conforming vibe to the number 5.

Cosmic Weather:

Don’t you just love it when you drive your car into a packed parking lot and, suddenly,  another car pulls out from a parking space, exactly in front of where you want to go, and you’re able to get the spot? Well, today, kind of has that same “lucky” feel to it – right place, right time. Especially the first half of the day as transiting Mars in Leo forms a trine with Jupiter Rx in Sagittarius (8:22 am).

This galvanizing planetary influence tends to energize (Mars) our faith, beliefs, self-confidence, and vision (Jupiter), thereby potentially supplying us with a motivating “can-do” spirit.

On another level, Mars-Jupiter aspects also often have a history of ushering in (Mars) new political (Jupiter) leadership, which is what we have just seen occurring in the UK (Boris Johnson), and also in Puerto Rico, with the governor there just announcing he’s stepping down.

Too, because it’s also the 25th day of the month (or a seven-day)  we additionally have more of an idealistic propensity (Neptune) now, which can also inspire us to want to “claim our dreams.”

Also, since we’re still in a waning lunar cycle and Mercury is retrograde, we should continue focusing our efforts on phasing things out or bringing ongoing matters to a completion.

The Waning Moon is also in plodding, practical Taurus the bull, all day, the sign of its “exaltation.” This should serve as a nice “grounding backdrop” for us. It can help us to be more “present in the moment.” Luna in Taurus especially favors engagement with nature as well as activities that indulge or delight our five senses.

“Flying starts from the ground. The more grounded you are, the higher you fly.” J.R. Rim

*All times EDT

On This Day in History: On July 25, 1997, scientists announce the first human stem cells to be cultured in a laboratory using tissue taken from aborted human embryos.

Astrologically, on the day, pioneering Mars was in creative Leo (2 degrees) and exactly trine to transformational Pluto (ruling death and rebirth), at 2 degrees of futuristic Sagittarius.

Cosmic Weather:

It’s always nice to begin our Monday with a little bit of extra zing, going for us – and that appears to be the situation today!

The Waning Moon (governing our emotions) first shifts into “start me up” Aries, this morning (6:02 am), the sign of new beginnings, and then, later tonight, the Sun (ego, purpose, and will) follows suit with a shift into “self-expressive” Leo the Lion (10:50 pm), where it will hang out for the next 30 days, giving us ample time to “strut our stuff” as well as display/employ/develop our creative abilities and leadership skills. When the Sun is in proud, self-confident Leo, we naturally like to be in charge. We also crave the limelight. The Sun will be joining assertive Mars, already in Leo, and, later this week, lovable Venus will also be entering this kingly-queenly sign.

Another cool thing about today is that, numerologically, it’s the 22nd day of the month. The number 22 is considered to be a “master number” and is linked with the “master builder” vibration, potentially allowing us to manifest our dreams with greater ease.

Also, the simple fact that it’s a Monday, the beginning of the workweek, can inspire or re-motivate us to, once again, get going with our lofty, very laudable agendas. (In Daniel H. Pink’s latest book “When”, he mentions “Mondays” as one of the “temporal landmarks” associated with fresh starts.)

Too, since the Moon is in its waning phase and decision-maker Mercury is retrograde until July 31st, it may be best to focus on putting the finishing touches on our magnifico creations now instead of rolling out anything new.

“Starting is not most people’s problem, staying, continuing and finishing is.” Darren Hardy

*All times EDT

On This Day in History: On July 22, 1959, Ed Wood’s cult classic “Plan 9 From Outer Space” (an independently produced science fiction-horror film) called one of the worst films ever, premieres.

Astrologically, that day, presenter Mercury was stationing retrograde in “Hollywood director” Leo conjunct eccentric, quirky Uranus (the planet which also governs science fiction). Enterprising Mars was also newly-installed in detail-minded Virgo conjunct “shock-jock” Pluto. Mars and Pluto were also trine to “Father Time” Saturn in “professionally-minded” Capricorn which is maybe why the movie is still being talked about today. Trines to Saturn are associated with longevity (or staying power).

Hope you enjoy your Monday!

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon’s entrance into chatty Gemini (4:06 am EDT) facilitates communication, fosters a climate of learning, and enhances our natural curiosity about our environment. Relationship Venus also forms an exact square to insightful, intense Pluto (9:05 pm EDT), the ruler of our subconscious, which may help to shed light on more of the complex issues of our relationships. An especially good day to glean an awareness of the deeper motivations that are driving our desires and passions.

Self-assertive Mars also enters proud, dramatic, Leo the Lion (9:51 pm EDT), which should be a boost to our self-confidence, ego and creativity. This is a very entertaining placement for Mars and can help to make us more colorful and charismatic. Mars stays in Leo until November 11. Some famous people with Mars in Leo: George Clooney, Cher, Jennifer Lopez.

COSMIC WATCH:

“Success is curbing excess.” Patrice Thompson

The self-confident Leo Moon adds some pizzaz and a positive level of assuredness to our self-expression today, especially with its harmonious meet-up (sextile) with the empowering Sun in conversant Gemini, a favorable time for articulating our agendas (2:50 pm EDT).

The Sun, meanwhile, is also forming a semi-square to abundant Jupiter in indulgent Taurus cautioning us not to go overboard with our resources today. Often with overconfident Jupiter, we get carried away. The Leo Moon also tends to encourage extravagant behavior.

A hopeful new day is abloom in a pageant of glory.

We’re magically transformed.

Our feet are moving to an exciting, new rhythm.

Finally, it seems, that the passion that we have been seeking, for so long, has nostalgically found its way back into the holding bin of our humble, wayward hearts.

We are poignantly re-awakening to the belief that we can still gallop into the sunset, saddled up with our dreams and passions, and yes, reach our destination.

NEWS UPDATE 7/13:

Yankees’ Owner, George Steinbrenner, has reportedly died.  His death coming on the heels of the death of Yankees PA man, Bob Sheppard, a couple days ago.  Also, we just had the deadly Ugandan blasts, where crowds had gathered to watch the World Cup finals.  Jupiter is in sports-related Aries now exactly square to Pluto.  Pluto rules death, as well as rebirth. Jupiter also tends to bring about more “notable” events for the collective, as Jupiter “stretches the significance,” and Pluto’s energy only seeks to magnify matters even more. Pluto rules “the masses.”

The Wall Street Journal is also reporting that the U.S. detained a 12th person in the Russian spy probe Monday. Again, another manifestation of the abundant “Pluto” energy permeating the ether now, with Venus trining Pluto and also Jupiter again tightly squaring it.  Pluto rules spies and covert operations. The trine from Venus brings opportunity for an “emergence” of the spies, why I wrote my “tongue-in-cheek” blog yesterday about “Spy Soulmates.”

Jupiter square Pluto now, with Jupiter in Mars-ruled, “law-enforcement Aries,” is probably pivotal here as to why more spies are getting busted. This “thick, rich spy energy” persists all the way through August, with several other planets soon getting into the act, including heavyweight Saturn.

Too, this energy is superior for ferreting out all kinds of clandestine operations that have been hidden away for a while. More details will be forthcoming here later, so stay tuned.  Again, keep stockpiling the trench coats until further instruction. I’ll also let you know when the next “two-for-one” trench coat special will be occurring.

Cosmic Word of The Day: Fire

Definition: 1) a state, process, or instance of combustion, in which fuel or other material is ignited and combined with oxygen, giving off light, heat, and flame 2) a burning mass of material, as on a hearth or in a furnace 3) flashing light, luminous appearance 4) burning passion; excitement or enthusiasm; ardor

COSMIC WEATHER:

It’s day two of the fiery, manic Aries Moon.

We’re fired up!

Our strength knows no boundaries.

We’re able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.

We’re faster than a locomotive.

We’re invincible.

We may even need to apply sunscreen internally. Our internal flame is burning so brightly.

Of course, I realize that this type of sunscreen application could pose logistical challenges. Especially for those of us who are not ambidextrous. But, hey, it’s worth a shot.

Again, the Moon is in Aries. It’s getting backup support from two heavyweights: boastful Jupiter and genius Uranus.

Plus, we’re able to scale tall buildings today.

Too, putting sunscreen on your liver or heart.  When you seriously think about it, how hard can that be to do? I’m also told that it’s less of an issue when you hold the sunscreen tube firmly.
