Cosmic Weather:

“Libraries were full of ideas—perhaps the most dangerous and powerful of all weapons.” – Sarah J. Maas

We begin our Monday with mental Mercury conjunct expander Jupiter in Pisces (2:06 am). This aspect is supportive for most communications in general as it tends to broaden our outlook and deepen our understanding as well as raise our level of tolerance. Particularly favored now are teachings, writings, or publishings of a more comprehensive or voluminous nature. On another level, mystical or spiritual-type awakenings are also possible.

Additionally, Mars in Aquarius is sextile to Chiron in Aries today (at 4:59 pm) which can aid us in dealing with lingering or thorny issues in a more forthcoming, direct manner.

Also, not to be forgotten or ignored: Waning Luna is standing her guard in secretive, perceptive Scorpio all day!

*All times EDT

On This Day in History: On March 21, 2006, the social networking, microblogging site “Twitter” was created (although it didn’t launch until July of that year).

Astrologically, that day, communicator Mercury – retrograde in Pisces – was applying to a conjunction with breakthrough Uranus, the planet which rules technology and the internet. The pioneering Sun in Aries was also conjunct the futuristic North Node and trine to structuring Saturn in self-expressive Leo.

Twitter founder Jack Dorsey’s first-ever tweet recently sold for the equivalent of $2.9m (£2.1m) to a Malaysia-based businessman. The tweet, which said “just setting up my twttr,” was first published on March 21, 2006, and was auctioned off by Mr. Dorsey for charity.

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well

clarity, communication, Mercury conjunct Sun, Rolling Stones appear on Ed Sullivan Show for first time, understanding

Cosmic Weather:

The Sun and Mercury meet up in secretive Scorpio today (2:23 pm), officially marking the halfway point in Mercury’s retrograde cycle. This “inferior conjunction” between the Sun and the Winged Messenger may very well translate into our finally being able to solve a big piece of the cryptic puzzle before us now – although we are still likely, not quite ready to put a big red bow on it and move on. Not to worry, though, because, soon enough, we will, undoubtedly, have all the riveting answers that we need, or require, in order to come to our usual impeccable conclusions! 🙂

Overall, this Sun-Mercury alignment will hopefully allow us to gain a greater understanding of substantive matters as our mind is unusually clear now. It may also be a period that is punctuated with an increased need for communication with others, especially possibly a time when there might be a greater willingness or eagerness to want to share or disclose things about ourselves of a more intimate nature.

“He showed me his scars, and in return he let me pretend that I had none.” Madeline Miller

Mercury will station direct in Libra on November 3rd (Election Day in the US!).

*All times EDT.

On This Day in History: It was 56 years ago tonight (October 25, 1964) that the Rolling Stones appeared on the “Ed Sullivan Show” for the first time – and also a time when the majority of America got their first glimpse of the more rebellious rock group. The Stones performed two songs in less than seven minutes — their latest hit “Time Is On My Side,” and a cover of Chuck Berry’s “Around And Around.”

Astrologically, that night, the ever-twinkling stars were seemingly smiling brightly upon the British rock band, with lovable, artistic Venus (in perfecting Virgo) exactly trine to propitious Jupiter (in enduring Taurus), often regarded as one of the luckiest and most pleasurable transits around.

Pioneering Mars was also deposited in flashy “rock star” Leo and in an exact square to “kingly” Jupiter, an aspect in which we often may experience moments or instances that sort of feel “larger-than-life” to us, in many respects. Mars-Jupiter energy characteristically tends to “pump us up” with insatiable enthusiasm or excitement for matters. It can also sometimes portend the start of something really BIG (like the rollout of the world’s greatest Rock and Roll Band!). Many have also said that the Stones had their “breakout performance” on the TV show, that October evening.

“People love talking about when they were young and heard Honky Tonk Women for the first time. It’s quite a heavy load to carry on your shoulders, the memories of so many people.” Mick Jagger

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Cosmic Weather:

“Do whatever you do intensely. The artist is the man who leaves the crowd and goes pioneering. With him there is an idea which is his life.” Robert Henri

We get a nice ‘pop’ to start out our Monday with Luna in trailblazing Aries, characteristically a potent catalyst for summoning forth our inner pioneer. The Aries Moon is associated with such personal qualities as boldness, bravery, and enthusiasm. It always encourages us to get off the sidelines and take more independent-type action. Of course, with Luna also moving into its Waning Crescent Phase this afternoon (12:16 pm), what we mainly want to be focusing on now is finishing up old projects versus undertaking anything new. (We will once again be cosmically cleared for new endeavors with the New Moon in Gemini on the 22nd.)

Luna in Aries will also be forming a sextile to communicator Mercury today (at 1:17 pm), which is excellent for getting our thoughts and ideas across to others in a very enthusiastic and direct manner. This is also very good for listening and learning. Plus, Mercury is deposited in its home sign of curious Gemini, so it’s theoretically operating at optimum intellectual capacity!

Too, we still have an expansive Sun trine Jupiter Rx aspect hovering around us today (which was exact yesterday afternoon), which can also beneficially serve to rachet up our optimism and can-do spirit. This can also be positive for business or commerce, especially with the empowering Sun still in materially-minded Taurus and Jupiter Rx in corporate/government-ruling Capricorn. Also, on a collective level, of course, we are seeing many businesses and other enterprises finally re-opening or resuming many of their activities or operations now as governments formally give the go-ahead to do so, which is the sort of growth or moving forward that is typically associated or expected with Jupiter, which archetypally represents abundance and wanting to do things on a grand scale as well as our personal or global vision of the future. Sun-Jupiter energy can also help us to adapt to change as it naturally inspires us to have more trust and faith in ourselves which then enables us to move beyond our fears.

“The reason birds can fly and we can’t is simply because they have perfect faith, for to have faith is to have wings.” J.M. Barrie

*All times EDT.

Hope it’s a good one! Be safe and well.

Cosmic Weather:

“Besides the noble art of getting things done, there is the noble art of leaving things undone.” Lin Yu Tang

Hopefully, if we smile right and hold our head up, the right way, we’ll be able to make some steady progress today and wrap up the first month of the new year on a high note! 🙂

The Moon is also deposited in “eager-beaver” Aries all day, until mid-evening, so we should be able to put our finishing touches on everything without expressing too much angst – even though Luna does square dramatic Pluto (6:11 am) and restrictive Saturn (9:24 am), which can, perhaps, temporarily immerse us into the more onerous side of our duties or obligations, although the Aries Moon does like a good challenge and is always determined to come out the victor. Too, we’re definitely not walking around with blinders on; we know or sense a lot is at stake for us now (the activation, once again, of the Saturn-Pluto conjunction).

Fortunately, the Moon in Aries also sextiles communicator Mercury (10:10 am), which should help us to articulate exactly what we’re feeling. Too, with Mercury in innovative Aquarius, the sign of its exaltation, it’s likely that we’re able to put forward futuristic ideas or thoughts now, including possibly having some riveting conversations or discourses that personally feel very liberating to us. You know, the kind of passionate exchanges in which we think we’re suddenly able to solve many of the world’s woes as a result of our unique, fresh perceptions. The Moon-Mercury sextile is also the last aspect that Luna makes before she goes void-of-course, so the impact of this aspect will be felt longer than usual.

Meanwhile, Luna will enter deliberate Taurus at 7:28 pm, a locale that she’ll be hanging out in, all weekend.

*All times EST.

Tarot Card For The Day: The King of Pentacles. This card represents someone who is enterprising, practical, and resourceful. There’s also a certain degree of pride or contentment here with respect to what has been achieved. (It’s kind of like we’re reviewing January, and plucking from it, the many fruits of our labors.)

Numerology For 1-31-2020: “Thirty-one” is a very strong foundational number suggesting that what we build now will endure. While there’s also presently a need to act in a very methodical way that enhances our security, there’s also an accompanying, very creative vibe to the day, that we’re also able to tap into.

Born On This Day: Thomas Merton, the French-American Catholic writer and Trappist monk, in 1915 (d. 1968). Merton once wrote: “The beginning of love is the will to let those we love be perfectly themselves, the resolution not to twist them to fit our own image.”

Hope it’s a good one!

ambiguity, communication, daily astrology, Full Moon in Gemini 2019, knowledge, understanding

Cosmic Weather:

With a Full Moon occurring today (12:12 am) in curious, “I Know” Gemini, the sign of The Reporter, we may possibly be privy to an influx of dizzying facts and information coming at us quickly now, that we may need to meander our way through.  As well as perhaps experiencing an equally strong desire to share what it is that we know, or have concluded, or are rapidly learning about.

Gemini is the communication sign, so there’s always a lot of natural “to and fro” energy swirling about it. A lot of buzz.

Since Full Moons also generate more light by which to see, they are generally regarded as “revelatory” in nature. So what has been hidden or submerged now has a good chance of coming out into full view.

Today’s Full Moon in Gemini also puts the opposing Sun in “I Understand” Sagittarius, which symbolizes The Philosopher. And, it’s also where Mercury, the ruler of today’s lunation, is hanging out. So we’re ideally seeking to balance or apply any of the incoming data (Gemini) that we are receiving now with a kernel of higher wisdom (Sagittarius) so it has, hopefully, a more meaningful, as well as more useful application or context for our lives.

However, one notable challenge that we may face with today’s lunation is that it forms a square to “elusive” Neptune. So it could be that we are dealing with something that is missing, confusing, or just not very reliable now. As a result, we may want to temporarily adopt a holding pattern of sorts, or a cautious wait-and-see attitude, until further details emerge.

It may also be a good time to wade a bit deeper into our faith and hope for the future (Sagittarius), especially if we’re feeling a bit out of sorts. Trusting that the Universe has our back, no matter what.

Too, in reality, when you think about it, when do we ever really have “all the answers” at our disposal when we want them? Much of the time, to adapt as best we can, we simply have to “wing it,” and just go with what it is that we do know.

And that could be, yet, another possible takeaway or reminder for us from today’s Full Moon in the sign of the Winged Messenger: To learn to embrace, and to accept, sometimes the sheer ambiguity of life (Neptune). To acknowledge that, sometimes, it’s perfectly okay “not to know.” Or to realize that we don’t have to twist ourselves into a pretzel every time we are unable to connect all the dots.

Also, sometimes, when we’re operating “a bit in the dark,” it’s a potent way for us to remain more fully engaged in life itself. And, at the end of the day, that could end up being a very good thing for us! 🙂

*All times EST

Happy Full Moon Blessings to you!

communication, daily astrology, H G Wells War of the Worlds radio broadcast, Mercury conjunct Venus, persuasiveness

Cosmic Weather:

Today, we’re possibly more receptive to discussing, articulating, or investigating (Mercury) matters of an intimate, hidden, or private nature (Scorpio), that we normally might shy away from, and do so in a manner that is less likely to alienate or create any kind of negative fallout for us. Even if we do encounter a bumpy patch or two here, we’re more likely to know how to intuitively placate or smooth out things pretty quickly and effectively now.

In fact, it may be a lot easier to more effortlessly arrive at some points of agreement or understanding partially because our words/ideas/points of view seem to possess a special healing or therapeutic quality about them (Venus in Scorpio), as well as conveying a certain element of truth that others perhaps find easier to resonate to, even if they possess viewpoints radically different or in opposition to ours.

Too, it’s possible that what is discussed or agreed to now may be altered or revised a bit, down the road, as Mercury will be stationing retrograde, tomorrow.

“Your need for acceptance can make you invisible in this world. Don’t let anything stand in the way of the light that shines through this form. Risk being seen in all of your glory.” Jim Carrey

*All times EDT

Question for Today: What would you like to reveal about yourself that you believe would be very freeing for you?

On This Day in History: On October 30, 1938, a radio broadcast of H.G. Wells, “The War of the Worlds,” narrated by Orson Welles, allegedly causes mass panic. The headline on the front page of The New York Times, the next day, read: “Radio Listeners in Panic, Taking War Drama as Fact.”

Astrologically, in the sky then, expansive, over-the-top Jupiter, in broadcast-ruling Aquarius, was exactly quinqunx foggy, delusional Neptune, the planet of fantasy or make-believe, in fact-based Virgo.

“This is Orson Welles, ladies and gentlemen, out of character to assure you that The War of the Worlds has no further significance than as the holiday offering it was intended to be. The Mercury Theatre’s own radio version of dressing up in a sheet and jumping out of a bush and saying “Boo!” Starting now, we couldn’t soap all your windows and steal all your garden gates by tomorrow night, so we did the best next thing. We annihilated the world before your very ears, and utterly destroyed the Columbia Broadcasting System. You will be relieved, I hope, to learn that we didn’t mean it, and that both institutions are still open for business. So goodbye, everybody, and remember, please, for the next day or so, the terrible lesson you learned tonight. That grinning, glowing, globular invader of your living room is an inhabitant of the pumpkin patch, and if your doorbell rings and nobody’s there, that was no Martian; it’s Halloween!” (Wikipedia)

Hope it’s a good one!

communication, daily astrology, daily horoscope, intellectual debates, investigation, Last airing of Mary Tyler Moore Show on CBS, mental clarity, Valerie Harper

Cosmic Weather:

In case Oprah calls us up today and inquisitively asks her trademark question, “What do you know for sure?”, it appears that we’re well-poised to be able to respond to her with greater specificity or clarity now as articulator Mercury in “exacting” Virgo is forming a conjunction to both motivating Mars and the ego-conscious Sun.  These planetary aspects potentially tend to increase our overall mental lucidity regarding our perceptions of life and the meaning or integrating of our individual life experiences.

“What I know for sure is that what you give comes back to you.” Oprah Winfrey

There can also be a more passionate desire now to want to communicate or act upon our thoughts, ideas, and musings in a very enterprising and determined way. There’s also likely an enhanced drive to get things done and to solve problems.

Additionally, the reflective Moon is in transformational Scorpio, and well-aspected, suggesting a natural proclivity for scaling deeper, particularly on a psychological level. On the shadow side, there’s possibly more potential for heated arguments, sarcastic remarks, and impulsive decision-making.

“Don’t raise your voice, improve your argument.” Desmond Tutu

Favored activities today: Intellectual debates, writing, journaling, editing, reading, learning new things, research, scuba diving, health checkups, antiquing, psychotherapy, tax work, lab work, investigations or detective work.

On This Day in History: On September 3, 1977,  the final CBS repeat of the last episode of “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” is aired on the network.

Astrologically, in the sky that evening (when the episode was shown), the grounding Moon in Taurus was exactly square to retiring Saturn in entertainment Leo (Moon-Saturn aspects often time endings or partings). Broadcaster Mercury was also in chronicling Virgo and exactly square to dissolving Neptune, the planetary ruler of film and TV, which was deposited in inspirational Sagittarius.

“My grandfather once said, having watched me one entire afternoon, prancing and leaping and cavorting, ‘This child will either end up on stage or in jail.’ Fortunately, I took the easy route.” Mary Tyler Moore

Hope it’s a good one!

Cosmic Weather:

Often, it seems, it is not so much what is said, as the way that it is said that is most memorable and ends up packing the greatest punch. With the “winged-messenger” Mercury’s entrance into “kingly” Leo the Lion, later this evening (8:19 pm), the sign of the entertainer, our communication style now has a better chance of radiating our own personal flair, our sense of drama, our creativity, our warmth.

In Sun-ruled Leo, our words (Mercury) are given extra shine or luster (Leo rules gold). We are also capable of speaking/writing/articulating with more authority, more self-confidence (including more ego-involvement).

“The art of communication is the language of leadership.” – James Humes

(Mercury will be going retrograde in Leo on July 7th and re-entering the sign of Cancer, mid-July, before it returns for another round in Leo, in mid-August. When Mercury is retrograde, we often go inward to review, recheck, revise or revisit our previous decisions/plans.)

Meanwhile, the Moon also continues her passage through enterprising, self-focused Aries today prompting us to take initiative, to be courageous.

“Courage is the most important of all the virtues because without courage, you can’t practice any other virtue consistently.” Maya Angelou

*All times EDT

Famous People with Mercury in Leo: Antonio Banderas, Michael Phelps, Anjelica Huston, Kellie Pickler, Dan Aykroyd, Barack Obama.

On This Day in History: On June 26, 2015, US Supreme Court rules 5-4 same-sex marriage is a legal right across all US states.

Astrologically, on that day, the Moon was in the matrimonial sign of Libra (which also rules the courts). The North Node (the future) was also in Libra and was being squared (squares force issues) by the empowering Sun in empathetic Cancer.

Assertive Mars had also just entered Cancer (the sign of home and family) and was applying to a conjunction to the Sun as well as a square to the Libra North Node.

Additionally, relationship maven, Venus, was also moving into exact conjunction (2 degrees) with inclusive-minded, philosophical Jupiter (the planet that also rules judges). Venus and Jupiter were both in magnanimous, warm-hearted Leo.

Cosmic Weather:

“You are not the victim of the world, but rather the master of your own destiny. It is your choices and decisions that determine your destiny.” Roy T. Bennett

Animating Mars enters the information gathering/sharing sign of Gemini today (2:12 am), where it will stay until May 15. Mars in curious, communicative Gemini serves to expand the general awareness of our environment as well as steps up our daily interactions with it.

We’re also seeking to enlarge the playing field of our options now as Mars in Gemini motivates us to ferret out greater variety in our lives. Accordingly, the choices that we make, or the decision-making process, also potentially becomes more complicated as we sort through a plethora of possibilities.

Too, we’ll likely be needing more flexibility or wiggle room with respect to how we execute what we undertake now, over the next six weeks, as Gemini doesn’t like to be pinned down. Of course, there’s always a danger, with Mars in the sign of the twins, that we’ll scatter our energy or spread ourselves around, too thin, going in too many different directions. Our natural orientation now more akin to that of a busy bumblebee, going around, from flower to flower, gathering nectar. In mutable Gemini, Mars function is to first gather or collect, and then to disseminate, the bounty it has accumulated.

“In the age of technology there is constant access to vast amounts of information. The basket overflows; people get overwhelmed; the eye of the storm is not so much what goes on in the world, it is the confusion of how to think, feel, digest, and react to what goes on.” Criss Jami

Moon, Full Moon, Moonlight

Today’s Energy:

A Full Moon in restless “Gemini the Messenger” (5:44 pm EST) revs up our thought processes and curiosity, potentially resulting in “information overload,” if we’re not careful. Since Gemini is the official sign of communication, there can also be a strong desire now to want to share what we find out with others, kind of like a cub reporter with a red hot news scoop. Gemini also formally governs news organizations and the media.

In general, Mercury-ruled Gemini symbolizes our logical thinking, our sense of wonderment, our interaction with our immediate environment, including our relationships with our neighbors or siblings. This sign is also associated with mass transit and travel.

Full Moons represent culmination points and can bring matters to a head, including what was undertaken – the intentions that were set – during the previous New Moon, which in this case, would have been the New Moon in the “transformational” sign of Scorpio, on November 11th.

Full Moons are also often revelatory, so it’s possible that new information will filter out to us now that causes us to have a fresh takeaway or a new slant on things. It’s also a good time to possibly even reflect upon the particular way that we individually process or sort out our daily experiences, or how we get to know things for ourselves. This could also include assessing our personal style of learning. For example, I recently concluded that I learn best when I take in information via audio versus more passive book reading. At least my level of retention seems to be better with the audio, even though I love to read.

With this Full Moon in Gemini, the Sun is in opposing Sagittarius, the sign of higher understanding, which suggests that, during this lunation, we are also attempting to attach meaning or significance (Sagittarius) to the information that we are receiving or gathering (Gemini). Or, as Criss Jami alludes to in the opening quote of this blog, we are trying to sort everything out in such a way that we know “how to think, feel, digest, and react to what goes on.”

This Gemini Full Moon is also opposing Mercury and Saturn in Sagittarius – which are both conjunct the Sun – as well as squaring Neptune in Pisces, so we may also be grappling with how our beliefs (Sagittarius) pertaining to safety or security issues (Saturn) impact or shape our willingness to be open, loving, and compassionate (Neptune) with others. Or, how our fears, guilt, or past conditioning (Saturn) may serve to keep us separated from each other – instead of unified (Neptune) – and what to do about it.

Questions for Today:  What are you most curious about? What is something that you feel compelled to share with the world? How do you go about sifting through news reports for accuracy? How do you feel about trusting strangers?
