Cosmic Weather:

Some woulda, coulda, shoulda thoughts may be mixed in with our early morning brew – although a further reading of the distilled tea leaves also suggests that it is probably a good time to just learn from our mistakes and move on – as well as to maybe stop being so critical of ourselves! Referencing here, of course, cerebral Mercury, in proud Leo, opposing judgmental Saturn in hippie-minded Aquarius (2:05 am).

Too, probably all we really need to do today is make it to happy hour when the empowering Leo Sun trines Santa Claus Jupiter in “no stopping us” Aries (6:36 pm)! Of course, whether or not Mr. Claus will actually be able to make it down our personal chimneys loaded up with lots of goodies for each of us will largely be dependent on whether or not we have been naughty or nice. Thankfully, too, unlike naysayer Mercury-Saturn, Sun-Jupiter is much more forgiving and charitable and usually more easily swayed by such things as a warm glass of milk and a plate full of cookies.

Sun trine Jupiter tends to be one of the more delightful aspects of life as its hopeful ray often sets the stage for more love, passion, and understanding to ripen and come forward; lady luck may also be less of a stranger now. Too, how many times have we heard that “timing is everything” or the idea of being in the right place, at the right time? Of course, discerning the right timing is also often at the very core of using astrology as a leveraging tool to practically guide us in our daily lives, in addition to using it as a vehicle for better understanding of ourselves and our world. That said – and assuming we have already done enough of the fancy prep work – this is likely an excellent time to launch adventurous new beginnings as our confidence, optimism, and vision are likely all cresting.

“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” – Anne Frank

Cosmic Weather:

With the Scorpio New Moon intention-setting now in the rearview mirror, today’s First-Quarter Moon (7:46 am) poises us to spring into action to make our desired goals a reality. This Half-Moon in Aquarius also equips us to act with greater objectivity or detachment that can aid us in seeing our way ahead more clearly.

Luna’s monthly conjunction with expansive Jupiter (2:52 pm) may also make it easier to connect or partner with others who have similar visions for the collective or the community that we do. Moon-Jupiter also tends to fill us with more optimism. General Colin Powell once said, “Perpetual optimism is a force multiplier.” While American philosopher William James stated, “Pessimism leads to weakness, optimism to power.”

How do you tend to see things? Is the glass half-full or half-empty?

*All times EST

On This Day in History: On November 11, 1919, Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day,” the first anniversary of the end of World War I. The US Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and November 11 became a national holiday beginning in 1938. (History.com)

Astrologically, on 11/11/19, Mars (which rules soldiers and the military) was in service-oriented Virgo and one degree separating from an exact, waning sextile to the authoritative Sun in Scorpio (the sign ruling death and rebirth). Intellectual Mercury was also in philosophical Sagittarius and exactly square to serious Saturn in Virgo, an influence that can make us more inclined to reflect upon or think about our past wounds or sorrows.

Born on This Day: Late Russian novelist, Fyodor Dostoevsky. He wrote in Crime and Punishment:

“The darker the night, the brighter the stars,
The deeper the grief, the closer is God!”

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well. Also want to say a big heartfelt “thank you” to all of our brave veterans.

Astrology May 18, 2020: The Waning Moon is in Enterprising Aries

Cosmic Weather:

“Do whatever you do intensely. The artist is the man who leaves the crowd and goes pioneering. With him there is an idea which is his life.” Robert Henri

We get a nice ‘pop’ to start out our Monday with Luna in trailblazing Aries, characteristically a potent catalyst for summoning forth our inner pioneer. The Aries Moon is associated with such personal qualities as boldness, bravery, and enthusiasm. It always encourages us to get off the sidelines and take more independent-type action. Of course, with Luna also moving into its Waning Crescent Phase this afternoon (12:16 pm), what we mainly want to be focusing on now is finishing up old projects versus undertaking anything new. (We will once again be cosmically cleared for new endeavors with the New Moon in Gemini on the 22nd.)

Luna in Aries will also be forming a sextile to communicator Mercury today (at 1:17 pm), which is excellent for getting our thoughts and ideas across to others in a very enthusiastic and direct manner. This is also very good for listening and learning. Plus, Mercury is deposited in its home sign of curious Gemini, so it’s theoretically operating at optimum intellectual capacity!

Too, we still have an expansive Sun trine Jupiter Rx aspect hovering around us today (which was exact yesterday afternoon), which can also beneficially serve to rachet up our optimism and can-do spirit. This can also be positive for business or commerce, especially with the empowering Sun still in materially-minded Taurus and Jupiter Rx in corporate/government-ruling Capricorn. Also, on a collective level, of course, we are seeing many businesses and other enterprises finally re-opening or resuming many of their activities or operations now as governments formally give the go-ahead to do so, which is the sort of growth or moving forward that is typically associated or expected with Jupiter, which archetypally represents abundance and wanting to do things on a grand scale as well as our personal or global vision of the future. Sun-Jupiter energy can also help us to adapt to change as it naturally inspires us to have more trust and faith in ourselves which then enables us to move beyond our fears.

“The reason birds can fly and we can’t is simply because they have perfect faith, for to have faith is to have wings.” J.M. Barrie

Astrology May 10, 2020: Mercury Trine Jupiter, Sun Sextile Neptune

Cosmic Weather:

“Your assumptions are your windows on the world. Scrub them off every once in a while, or the light won’t come in.” Isaac Asimov

Intellectual Mercury trining optimistic Jupiter today (at 10:36 am) can ideally serve to broaden our perspectives as we are potentially more receptive at this time to sampling new information or at least toying around with new ideas, as expansive Jupiter symbolizes our ongoing search for higher meaning and purpose. Too, with Mercury still deposited in down-to-earth Taurus and Jupiter ensconced in professionally ambitious Capricorn, we may be particularly interested now in scoping out fresh ways to solidify our footing in the material world. Generally, Mercury-Jupiter is also excellent for all types of discussions or for drafting agreements or contracts, especially since there is normally more of a willingness now to bend or give a little in order to make things work.

The illuminating Sun in Taurus is also sextiling transcendent Neptune in Pisces, this afternoon (at 12:16 pm). This is a more subtle aspect that can nudge us to move beyond the realm of our everyday ego concerns or the mundane, to seek out something that speaks to the needs of our Soul or Spirit. It is an energy associated with such things as compassion, acts of kindness, and charitable giving. Archetypally, Neptune, known as the Great Dissolver, aims to unify or to remove the perceived boundaries or barriers that exist between us. Also, perhaps, a real-world example of Neptune’s influence: Two days ago, on May 8th, was the 75th anniversary of V-E Day, marking the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany to the Allied forces, ending World War II in Europe. Now, if we go back in time to see what was occurring astrologically on May 8, 1945, we find that assertive Mars in Aries (which rules war and the military) was exactly opposite Neptune, which was also in the diplomatic sign of Libra. Neptune here presumably helping to dissolve/defuse/dismantle the Martian aggression urge, ultimately paving the way for the prospect of peace again. Neptune is often a dominant factor in peace agreements or acts of surrender.

“Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness. If, in our heart, we still cling to anything – anger, anxiety, or possessions – we cannot be free.” Thich Nhat Hanh

Astrology December 26, 2019: Solar Eclipse in Capricorn

change, daily astrology, habits, moon conjunct jupiter, numerology, optimism, self-mastery, Solar Eclipse in Capricorn 2019

Cosmic Weather:

Today’s Solar Eclipse in “mature, parental” Capricorn, at 4 degrees of the sign (12:13 am), potentially provides us with a realistic snapshot or assessment of our wondrous, enviable lives as well as hopefully supplying us with some practical, hands-on Saturnian wisdom on how to best nudge ourselves forward, in 2020, so we can make it to the top of that glorious, ever-beckoning mountaintop. Capricorn is a very outwardly ambitious sign keenly interested in leaving its industrious mark upon the world.

This is an excellent lunation period for our annual goal-setting, taking inventory of our strengths and weaknesses, eyeing our responsibilities or duties, evaluating and or restructuring our commitments, including deciding what it is that we may need to phase out now in order to forge ahead in the exciting new decade that is, already, less than a week away.

What’s also great about today’s Solar Eclipse (which basically acts as an “amped-up” New Moon) is that it’s conjunct propitious Jupiter, the planet of growth and opportunity. It’s also forming a flowing trine to non-conforming Uranus RX, which symbolizes innovation and change, and is deposited in materially-minded Taurus. These two harmonizing aspects will ideally help us to feel more optimistic or enthused about our future (including our careers and finances) and also possibly more willing to make any necessary creative alterations so that we can re-structure our playing field in such a way that our individuality and authenticity shine through in a manner that feels very liberating to us. If we’ve been feeling stifled or stuck, this lunation will hopefully help us to turn a new, progressive corner. New Moons are linked, as well, with embarking upon new beginnings.

This is also a perfect period for instituting positive daily practices or habits that can, over the long-term, allow us to become more self-actualized, or more complete versions of our best selves. With the more serious “nose to the grindstone” Capricorn energy, we’re naturally focused now on doing the requisite inner and outer work that’s needed in achieving self-mastery, which is really, of course, part of a lifelong process that we gradually attain in stages, although since eclipses can sometimes “speed things up,” it’s very possible that we’re also able to make a giant leap forward now, at least in terms of expanding our consciousness, where it basically all begins, anyway.

“Let him who would move the world first move himself.” Socrates

Generally, eclipses and eclipse points are also felt or remain charged for up to six months. Since July of 2018, we’ve been experiencing eclipses along the Cancer-Capricorn axis, with a Lunar Eclipse in familial Cancer, slated for January 10th, which is two days before the exact conjunction of Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn.

Some questions that we may also want to ask ourselves now with this Solar Eclipse in Capricorn: How might I be able to conserve more of my time, energy, and resources and yet still get ahead? What one thing could I achieve, in the outer world, that would greatly add to my sense of personal fulfillment? How might I view my perceived personal restrictions or limitations as gifts or opportunities? If I could wave a magic wand and eliminate my fears, how would my present life be different?

Numerologically, there’s also a lot of intensity to the day with it being an “8” day (the 26th). Often on “8” days, we’re more inclined to face down our fears, particularly if they’re getting in the way of what we’re wanting to achieve. There can also be more of an inner desire now for wielding our power or influence. I also like that the Solar Eclipse is occurring at “4” degrees of Capricorn, which is a strong, solid foundational number, really helping us to get rooted for “2020,” which is also a “4” year.

*All times EST.

Cosmic Quote of the Day: “Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

We always have it within us the ability to change the way we look at things, and when we do, the world around us changes accordingly. It is with our perceptions where our real power lies.

Today’s Energy:

The Moon in inspired Sagittarius is involved in an exciting grand fire trine with liberating Uranus, lovable Venus, and optimistic Jupiter. Generally, this influence can bring about an easing of our circumstances, or a situation in which we have more of a feeling of natural flow in our life. The element of fire makes us feel more alive.

The Moon’s opposition to Mercury, 6:20 am. This is an excellent hour for personal journaling as our we are hearing from both our heart and our head. Also, good for making out our to-do list.

Moon trine Uranus, 12:01 pm. We are ready to venture down the road less traveled. Anything wacky or different appeals to us. New approaches get us unstuck.

Moon trine Venus, 1:47 pm. This is the personification of cooperative energy with a capital C. Also, excellent for any social mingling, romantic encounters or getaways, beautifying projects. A tendency toward lavish expenditures is possible.

Moon trine Jupiter, 2:18 pm. We can envision that mountaintop and are pretty confident we are headed there. Anything we can do to grow our personal world has our attention. This energy also strengthens our convictions and inspires us to spread cheer and goodwill.

“In dreams begin responsibilities.” W.B. Yeats

COSMIC WATCH:

We could feel somewhat ‘fenced in’ by our responsibilities today with the Sun opposing “taskmaster” Saturn. However, with the Moon also in “optimistic” Sagittarius, there’s a pretty good chance that we’ll be able to eventually locate, and pass through, the ‘open gate’ to our freedom. Too, remembering that we always have the power to choose our own thoughts, at any moment, can be very liberating for us, especially if we are feeling a little caged now.

Sun-Saturn aspects can also be revelatory in nature, in the sense that we may be made more aware of what it is that we “must do” in order to fulfill our life’s special purpose. Sometimes, this may mean that we either need to ‘dig in our heels’ now and get serious about certain things. In other cases, it may be that we finally realize that we need to let go of something and move on.

Famous Birthdays April 28: Ann-Margret, Jay Leno. “New Year’s Eve, where auld acquaintance be forgot. Unless, of course, those tests come back positive.” Jay Leno. 🙂

Interestingly, Jay Leno has the Sun-Saturn opposition aspect in his solar return chart for, the coming year, and he is poised to leave the Tonight Show in spring of 2014. Sun-Saturn is an aspect that is often at play when we shift careers. Too, when we’re older, it is often a time when we do decide to retire, or at least, cut back on our schedule. Saturn is associated with narrowing or fine-tuning our focus.

Enjoy your Sunday!

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon spends one more day in “scholarly” Sagittarius and with intellectual Mercury forming a harmonious sextile aspect to “teacher” Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius, this is an excellent day to expand our knowledge of the world, including the realm of foreign cultures. We are also more inclined to want to write about or discuss with others what we have learned so far on our journey of life, particularly sharing our philosophy of life. Mercury-Jupiter is specifically linked with the publishing world, academia, philosophy and religion, the travel industry, matters of law, advertising and promotion, and is generally viewed by astrologers as more favorable for contracts and agreements due to the abundant and protective nature of Jupiter.

Too, if we have been harboring a more pessimistic view of things in a certain area of our lives, we may want to revisit that area today and see if we can approach it now with a more positive or optimistic mindset, as Mercury-Jupiter is an excellent aspect for allowing us to see possibilities where maybe before we were unable to envision them.  Also, today would be an ideal day to make a vision board regarding our future intentions for ourselves. “The future is simply infinite possibility waiting to happen. What it waits on is human imagination to crystallize its possibility.” Leland Kaiser

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon remains in enterprising Aries, although, its monthly opposition to resistant Saturn in relationship Libra (12:26 pm EDT) may mean that we have to do some yielding to others before we can pass “Go” and collect that expectant $200. 🙂

However, we may not be sidelined for too long, as we also have mental Mercury in industrious Virgo forming a harmonious trine to “Santa Claus” Jupiter in indulgent Taurus (9:44 pm EDT). Jupiter generously gifting us with big ideas so that we may grow and prosper. This optimistic aspect can also make us extra persuasive in speech and writing. It also favors learning, religion, legal matters, and publishing.

Romantic Venus also cascades into diplomatic Libra (10:40 pm EDT), one of the two signs that she rules. Now that she has a home-court advantage, hopefully, she will be able to help smooth out, or put to bed, any of our thorny, relationship issues. This is also a very artistic placement for “Lady Love,”  favoring remodeling or beautifying projects. Sweet Venus transits Libra until October 9.

“Creativity comes from a conflict of ideas.” Donatella Versace

The fortifying Taurus Sun meets the flashy Moon in Leo (4:34 pm EDT). We’re looking to dig our heels in and get down to business (Taurus), but at the same time, we require plenty of pomp and circumstance (Leo). We also feel the need to be creative with the sign of Leo ruling our self-expression.

Late tonight and early tomorrow morning, the Moon also forms triumphant trines to the rare triple conjunction of Mercury (thoughts and ideas), Venus (love and social life), and Jupiter (luck and optimism) in expedition Aries (this triple conjunction is exact tomorrow). Ain’t no mountain high enough that we can’t climb now. Our personal popularity (Venus) also has a chance to soar (Jupiter), as we are cosmically cleared to seek out more pleasurable pursuits.
