Cosmic Weather:

“Your assumptions are your windows on the world. Scrub them off every once in a while, or the light won’t come in.” Isaac Asimov

Intellectual Mercury trining optimistic Jupiter today (at 10:36 am) can ideally serve to broaden our perspectives as we are potentially more receptive at this time to sampling new information or at least toying around with new ideas, as expansive Jupiter symbolizes our ongoing search for higher meaning and purpose.

Too, with Mercury still deposited in down-to-earth Taurus and Jupiter ensconced in professionally ambitious Capricorn, we may be particularly interested now in scoping out fresh ways to solidify our footing in the material world.

Generally, Mercury-Jupiter is also excellent for all types of discussions or for drafting agreements or contracts, especially since there is normally more of a willingness now to bend or give a little in order to make things work.

The illuminating Sun in Taurus is also sextiling transcendent Neptune in Pisces, this afternoon (at 12:16 pm). This is a more subtle aspect that can nudge us to move beyond the realm of our everyday ego concerns or the mundane, to seek out something that speaks to the needs of our Soul or Spirit. It is an energy associated with such things as compassion, acts of kindness, and charitable giving. Archetypally, Neptune, known as the Great Dissolver, aims to unify or to remove the perceived boundaries or barriers that exist between us.

Also, perhaps, a real-world example of Neptune’s influence: Two days ago, on May 8th, was the 75th anniversary of VE Day, marking the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany to the Allied forces, ending World War II in Europe. Now, if we go back in time to see what was occurring astrologically on May 8, 1945, we find that assertive Mars in Aries (which rules war and the military) was exactly opposite Neptune, which was also in the diplomatic sign of Libra. Neptune here presumably helping to dissolve/defuse/dismantle the Martian aggression urge, ultimately paving the way for the prospect of peace again. Neptune’s activated ray is often perceived as a dominant factor in peace agreements or acts of surrender.

“Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness. If, in our heart, we still cling to anything – anger, anxiety, or possessions – we cannot be free.” Thich Nhat Hanh

Astrology October, 18, 2013: Full Moon in Aries, Mars Opposes Neptune

“Action may not always bring happiness, but there is no happiness without action.”  – William James

COSMIC WATCH:

It can be easy to live mainly in our heads; to get seductively entrenched in the realm of our own thinking and then, consequentially, lose out on opportunities to improve our lives, perhaps because we’re not actively participating enough in the real world around us.

Mahatma Gandhi once stated that: “It’s the action, not the fruit of the action, that’s important.” He also said that “You may never know what results come from your action. But if you do nothing, there will be no result.”

The Lunar Eclipse today at 26 degrees of “initiating” Aries (7:38 pm), the first sign of the zodiac, is perhaps a perfect primer to help veer us away from the tantalizing world of thought and into the self-empowering realm of doing and creating.

Entrepreneurial Aries epitomizes action; also, daring and bravery. It is also through our actions that we reveal the nature of our thinking.

Depending on what house this lunation is falling in, in our personal charts, we may find this event has us taking action now on the matters governed by that house (or area of life). We may also have a chance now to cultivate a more self-confident and courageous approach to handling the affairs of that sector of our chart.

With the Full Moon Eclipse in Aries – the sign of personal identity – this also means that the Sun is in the opposing sign of Libra, the sign of the other. This Eclipse may remind us, once again, of the delicate balance that seemingly must be maintained between tending to the needs of others and tending to the needs of self.

It’s possible, with this Eclipse, that a “light bulb suddenly goes on in our head” and we become privy to some important action that we must also take, within a relationship context, to make our lives more meaningful or fulfilling.

In some cases, too, events may occur, out of the blue, that have a notable impact on our partnerships, or alliances. Sometimes, eclipses serve to “fast forward” or “speed up” situations in our lives. Eclipses are thought to be very insightful and potentially consciousness-raising. They tend to bring matters to a climax.

Eclipses can also be harbingers of endings. Too, if certain elements do pass away now, it’s often because they were no longer serving a useful or needed purpose in our lives. Also, ideally, we must learn to fully embrace endings, and to not fear them, as endings are part of the natural order of things.

“Endings are not bad things; they just mean that something else is about to begin.” C. Joybell

This lunation finds assertive Mars, the ruler of Aries, in analytical Virgo and applying to an exact opposition to veiled Neptune in Pisces (9:53 pm Saturday). Mars-Neptune aspects can be more challenging to navigate because they often contain an element of vagueness/confusion.

It could be, however, that with this Eclipse, we just go ahead and carefully do our due diligence or fact-finding, as best we can –  which is what Mars in Virgo enjoys doing anyway – and then simply surrender the rest (Neptune in Pisces), believing, in our heart, that we are exactly on the right course of action for where we’re supposed to be. Accepting, too, in life, that there are usually a lot of gray areas that have to be factored in.

Sometimes, we maybe just have to learn to become comfortable meandering about in the fog, perhaps perceiving it as a grand Aries adventure. Or maybe we can use the murkiness as a giant launching pad to seed our Piscean faith.

“Faith is not the belief that God will do what you want. It is the belief that God will do what is right.” Max Lucado

Astrology November 7, 2011: Feeling Out Of Step (Mars-Neptune)

astrology for november 7 2011, deception, ego denying, horoscope november 7 2011, Mars opposite Neptune, Moon in Aries, retreating, running away from obligations, serving others

COSMIC WATCH:

The enterprising Aries Moon normally positions us for confidently venturing outside of our comfort zone, although today may be a little different. This is because Mars, the planet of self-assertion and survival, and the natural ruler of Aries, is exactly opposite vague, elusive Neptune. Neptune, known as the Great Dissolver, tends to blur or obscure matters, and when aligned with Mars, we can easily feel confused or out of step regarding how to best direct our energy outward (Mars).  Neptune also symbolizes our urge for flight or escape, which can, of course, be a survivalist technique in itself.

On the shadow side, Mars-Neptune also has a legacy with misplaced aggression, and even subterfuge and scandal. It is also linked with acts of surrender.

Regarding how to navigate the day, it may be best for us to not push or force issues. We may also want to make sure that we honor our commitments and not shirk or run away from our duties or obligations. Too, it may be wise to subdue our egos and serve others instead. Mars-Neptune can generally be more of an ego-denying influence; however, when we give back to others, this aspect can help to lead us back to our true, authentic center.

daily astrology, Henry David Thoreau quote on simplification, Mars opposite Neptune, Moon in Pisces, reflection, relaxation, spiritual

“Our life is frittered away by detail…simplify, simplify.” – Henry David Thoreau

Cosmic Watch:

We may be well advised to heed that quote today as the emotional Moon drifts through dreamy, dissolving Pisces and assertive Mars in Leo continues to oppose transcendent Neptune. What may work best for us now is to simply let go and relax. Take time to get re-acquainted with that still small voice inside.

Too, the pace will possibly quicken quite noticeably on Sunday, so we may want to just chill out and enjoy the down time while we can.

Also, more challenging Mars-Neptune aspects are thought to sometimes weaken or dissipate our physical energies, so rest can be very regenerative/extra beneficial now.
