Cosmic Weather:

“If you’re not confused, you’re not paying attention.” Tom Peters

Waning Luna in Pisces is in her Fourth Quarter Crescent Phase (also known as the Dark Moon). Appearance-wise, if you’re in the Northern Hemisphere, she will present as a thin crescent of light on the left. Purported ramifications for mere mortals? It’s thought to be a perfect time for reflection, recuperation, recharging our batteries. May also inspire a desire for serving others.

Mars in Gemini Square Neptune in Pisces (3:18 pm) – If you’re an aficionado of meandering through tricky labyrinths, it’s likely you have a competitive advantage now (although, maybe not entirely). If not, don’t be surprised by some of the strange looks you may be getting from others assessing your precarious plight as you benignly take four steps forward, then twelve steps back – then lurch abruptly to your left, for no good reason. 🙂 In truth, the situation may even be more complicated than it looks. Kind of the day when we pull on a loose thread and suddenly everything unravels! The takeaway here might be to not poke around too much – unless we’re ready for and can stomach the consequences. An even better strategy might be to postpone new action until the dense fog has cleared and motives and circumstances become clearer. On another level, Mars-Neptune (along with the Neptunian Pisces Moon) can fuel our imagination and creativity. A bit of a magic carpet ride!

“Maturity, one discovers, has everything to do with the acceptance of ‘not knowing.” Mark Z. Danielewski

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well. (I’m also running a little short on time, but hope to add “On This Day in History,” a little bit later here.)

Cosmic Weather:

Aiming to just go with the flow and allowing whatever is already in motion to simply play out to its natural/inevitable conclusion may be the wisest strategy for us to abide by today with Waxing Luna in surrendering Pisces, the very last sign of the zodiac. The Pisces Moon is always a good time for us to decompress/chillout/process. To have faith that what is happening is ultimately for the best. It’s also an excellent period to invoke or engage our more creative side or imagination. A mid-morning sextile from the Moon to experimental Uranus Rx in Taurus (10:43 am) may also open the door for us to entertain new ideas, connect with unusual people, or possibly depart from our daily routine in some refreshing way.

“Once you realize you deserve a bright future, letting go of your dark past is the best choice you will ever make.” Roy T. Bennett

*All times EDT.

On This Day in History: On October 26, 1954, Chevrolet unveils a more powerful, small-block V-8 engine to put in their Bel-Aire and Corvette models.

Astrologically, that day, there was a New Moon in transformational Scorpio which was exactly square to energizing Mars in the cutting-edge sign of Aquarius, which governs innovation and technology.

Eventually, a majority of GM’s ‘60s muscle cars (Mars cars!!!) would be powered by the small-block engine. The power the engine produced was enough to carry Chevy’s land yachts like the Impala and provide that tire-spinning power that muscle cars are famous for.

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Anniversary of Elvis Presley's death, daily astrology, daily horoscope, genius, Mars in Leo, meditation, Mercury square Uranus, Moon in Pisces, new ideas, personal power

Cosmic Weather:

Just because something is “new” doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s better; however, birthing new ideas can often be something that can be pretty cool for us to experience because new ideas (just by their very nature of being “fresh off the mental press”) can tend to make us feel more alive inside, more rejuvenated, more hopeful. They can also even, sometimes, radically turn our lives around when we do decide to act upon them (depending, of course, on what they are).

Anyway, with “thinker” Mercury in creative Leo squaring “our inner Einstein” Uranus (the planet of genius and geekiness), in solidifying Taurus today (1:07 pm), there’s hopefully a better than average chance that the charitable muses will be paying each of us a cordial visit and doling out to us at least a few, original, powerhouse thoughts, ideas, or perceptions that we can then add or incorporate into our nifty toolkits to hopefully take us places that we’ve always wanted to go but were never quite sure how to get there. (Uranus is considered to denote the superconscious mind and is also thought to be the “higher octave” of Mercury, while Mercury represents “the conscious mind, conscious awareness.” Uranus is also associated with flashes of intuition or sudden knowing.)

Of course, just like with everything else in life, there’s also potentially a rogue element or shadow side to today’s Mercury-Uranus square. Some manifestations of this might include: displaying rebellious or cantankerous behavior (throwing temper tantrums), experiencing increased mental restlessness, engaging in impulsive decision making. Uranus also symbolizes dissent or protest, challenges to the status quo. It may be a time when we’re more inclined to speak up (Mercury) about issues that appear to affect our sense of personal freedom or liberty (Uranus).

On another level, on Mercury-Uranus days we often hear things (Mercury) that really take us by surprise because they’re so unexpected (Uranus). Too, with Uranus in material Taurus, it’s possible that there could be some surprises or twists on the financial front, or regarding things that sustain us or make us feel more secure (including our values).

Action planet Mars is also at 29 degrees of authoritative Leo (a critical degree), today and tomorrow (entering Virgo, early Sunday morning). When Mars is at the end of the sign, there’s often a strong motivating desire to give something a “final push” to bring it about, especially if we’re already (perceived to be) close to the finish line. With Mars in proud Leo we may also feel a potent desire to exercise our personal power now.

Meanwhile, the Moon is also now in meditative Pisces, suggesting we make some time, along the way, for inner reflection or prayer. Numerologically, too, today (8-16-2019) reduces down to both a (dreamy) 7 and (self-mastery) 9, sort of re-iterating this Piscean theme for turning inward as a way to renewal now.

“I think making mistakes and discovering them for yourself is of great value, but to have someone else to point out your mistakes is a shortcut of the process.” Shelby Foote

*All times EDT

On This Day in History: On August 16, 1977, Elvis Presley (“the King”) died at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee.

Astrologically then (just two days earlier), there had been a New Moon in “kingly” Leo, (the sign of entertainment), with both the Sun and Moon in Leo in a tight conjunction to sobering Saturn, the Lord of Karma. (I remember reading a book about Elvis, several years ago, and in it there was mention that Elvis always kept a copy of Kahlil Gibran’s “The Prophet” by his bed. He was also, reportedly, interested in numerology.)

“Some people tap their feet, some people snap their fingers, and some people sway back and forth. I just sorta do ’em all together, I guess.” Elvis Presley

Hope it’s a good one!

compassion, daily astrology, daily horoscope, deception, empathy, fantasy, idealism, Mary Pickford becomes first female star to get million dollar contract, Moon in Aries, Moon in Pisces, venus square neptune

Cosmic Weather:

Today we may do well to keep in mind the proverbial saying: “All that glitters is not gold” as Venus (the planet of love, values, and money) moves into a square formation with Neptune Rx (the planet of idealism as well as deception). Venus-Neptune energy can seduce us to “long for/fall for” the dream, even though the logarithms/metrics may not quite add up in real-time. In reality, of course, there is nothing wrong with dreaming or imagining things to be a certain way; the issues or problems arise, however, when we refuse or intentionally choose not to look at the cold hard facts. On another level, Venus-Neptune tends to heighten our compassion/empathy for others as well as our enhance our creativity. We also may find pleasure now, or take refuge, in being by the sea or water. Going for such things as a hydromassage may also be enjoyable.

Jupiter Rx (representing our beliefs, our personal philosophy of life) is also quinqunx the North Node in nurturing Cancer today (2:28 pm), suggesting that we are feeling a little askew or off-center about integrating the bigger picture into the fabric of our daily lives. This could be because there is possibly a little bit of shifting going on inside of us now and we may need some time to sort things out.

Waning Luna also continues her passage through illusionary Pisces, until late tonight (10:37 pm), when she then will move into action-oriented Aries, a time when we may also be tempted to kick it into warp speed.

(Venus in Gemini Squares Neptune Rx in Pisces. Jupiter Rx in Sagittarius quinqunx the North Node in Cancer. Moon in Pisces moves into Aries.)

*All times EDT

Question for Today: What fantasy do you aspire to make real?

On This Day in History: On June 24, 1916, Mary Pickford (b. April 8, 1892), known as “America’s Sweetheart” becomes the first female star to get a million dollar film contract. A talented actress starring in over 200 films, she was also the co-founder of United Artists and of the Motion Picture Academy.

Pickford was born with her natal Sun (life purpose) and Jupiter (the expansive urge) in pioneering Aries and also had Neptune (ruling film and motion pictures) exactly conjunct Pluto (transformation) in contractual Gemini (at 7 degrees). Her Venus (attracting power, artistry) was also part of that Neptune-Pluto conjunction (at 3 degrees of Gemini). Venus-Neptune individuals can often leave us “spellbound,” while  Venus-Pluto natives are often able to wield great personal power and charisma as well.

When Pickford also signed her million dollar movie contract, that day in the sky, the transiting Sun (recognition, power) and Pluto (reform) were exactly conjunct in feminine Cancer, and Venus (money) and Saturn (success) were also tightly conjunct (one degree) in that same sign as well, definitely putting a spotlight on the “Goddess” energy. Venus conjunct Saturn is also an excellent astrological aspect for stabilizing or solidifying one’s finances.

“You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing that we call  ‘failure’ is not the falling down, but the staying down.” Mary Pickford

civil rights movement, daily astrology, daily horoscope, lessons of the past, letting go, Moon in Pisces, surrendering, The Detroit March to Freedom in 1963, Venus opposite Jupiter, wanting more

Cosmic Weather:

(Venus in Gemini opposes Jupiter Rx in Sagittarius, 12:44 pm;

Venus quinqunx Saturn in Capricorn, 10:31 pm;

Moon in Pisces squares Jupiter, 10:03 pm; sextiles Saturn, 11:09 pm; squares Venus, 11:13 pm; and conjuncts Neptune in Pisces, 11:55 pm.)

*All times EDT

It sometimes seems that our desires, needs, and/or wants have a mind of their own, doesn’t it? Today, for instance, we may crave x,y, or z. But then, tomorrow, we may do a complete 180 and suddenly want whatever we didn’t want yesterday. Go figure! And then there are other times when we are pretty much clueless about seemingly everything, except maybe about the type of food we like to eat. Or perhaps the people we like to hang out with. 🙂

With Venus (representing what we love, covet, or value) forming an opposition to Jupiter Rx (the urge for expansion), we may be seductively drawn to an ever-widening array of choices that we perceive or suspect might bring us a fairly good measure of earthly pleasure. Sort of akin to a child being set loose in a toy store and wanting or demanding to see/touch/examine everything.

But Venus is also forming a quincunx aspect to Saturn Rx (signifying rules, limits, and the past). This influence seems to suggest that while we are pondering or reaching for more now, we also are possibly constrained or restricted, in some ways, by the memories or experience(s) of our past. It could be, too, that we’re waxing nostalgic for certain elements of our past; but also probably knowing, simultaneously, that those things are no longer really doable or viable for us, in our present-day world, and that looking back upon them now might even be a bit torturous or self-sabotaging for us, depending upon how we manage to spin things. Saturn also signifies the scarcity principle so perhaps we are feeling ambivalent about even indulging our desires, at this time, with taskmaster Saturn reminding us that “there’s always a price to pay for everything.”

To top it off, the Waning Moon is also in dissolving, transpersonal Pisces, all day, and later tonight, it will also be aspecting Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn, as well as ego-denying Neptune, the Moon’s ruler, so it could be that we are able to cross a bridge or turn a corner now, and move forward, to some degree, by letting go, or by surrendering some of what we have – but don’t really need. Too, just cognitively recognizing/accepting our resistance to letting go of “whatever it may be” now might also be a positive game-changer for us as it’s potentially laying down the groundwork for the future, and how we may want that future to be. Sometimes, we have to partake in a number of “test-runs” in our head before we’re fairly certain that we’re proceeding in the right direction.

“What’s the greater risk? Letting go of what people think – or letting go of how I feel, what I believe, and who I am?” Brene Brown

Question for Today: What one thing could you give up now that you intuitively know would be very freeing for you? Also, how might you be liberated by its release?

On This Day in History: On June 23, 1963, The Detroit March to Freedom occurs with 125,000 people participating, the largest civil rights demonstration in America up to that point.

Astrologically, that day, the nurturing Cancer Sun was exactly sextile to Uranus, the planet of change and equality, in the corrective sign of Virgo. (Sun-Uranus also favors group expression/group participation especially with respect to social and or humanitarian causes.)

Pioneering, assertive Mars was also separating (one degree) from an exact conjunction with transforming Pluto, both planets also in “fix-it” Virgo. Mars-Pluto energy is generally very powerful and intense in nature. We normally feel very driven or motivated to attain our objectives with it. It’s also associated with displaying acts of courage and or bravery as well as wanting to reclaim/wield/espouse our own personal power in the world.

“The cost of liberty is less than the price of repression.” W.E.B Du Bois

Clara Barton founded the American Red Cross, daily astrology, daily horoscope, empathy, information, learning, Moon in Pisces, Sun conjunct Mercury, sympathy

Cosmic Weather:

“When the trust account is high, communication is easy, instant, and effective.” Stephen R. Covey

Both the Sun (will) and Mercury (thinking) leave slow-moving, plodding Taurus, this morning, and enter breezy, cerebral Gemini, the communication sign, and the sign of the Twins. This sign is also ruled by Mercury so the ‘Winged Messenger’ feels right at home here.

For the next few weeks, with the Sun and Mercury in Gemini, we get to passionately, and independently, channel our inner reporter and astutely relay all the news/gossip/goings-on in our neck of the woods – whether it’s fit to print or not! 🙂

Gemini relishes making observations, drawing comparisons, taking notes, gathering/imparting/receiving information. It’s very social energy, yet emotionally detached, at the same time, which might be a very good thing now since assertive Mars is moving through feelings-oriented, reactive Cancer. The Gemini vibe here sort of balancing out the Cancer moodiness, self-protectiveness. Too, with both the Sun and Mercury deposited in articulate Gemini, there’s a better chance for us to be able to outwardly voice/write/express what’s going on inside of us, on an emotional level.

Meanwhile, Gemini also rules transportation and travel (especially trips of shorter duration), so we may find ourselves being a lot more mobile, over the next month or so. It might also be a time when we may think about getting a new car or be attending to vehicle-related matters.

Additionally today, the Sun and Mercury are in superior conjunction at 0 degrees of Gemini (9:06 am). A superior conjunction is the equivalent, so to speak, of a Full Moon, which means there’s an increased likelihood that we could experience sudden moments/flashes of greater clarity/brilliance now, including receiving answers/solutions to problems, or come across information/teachings/the right questions that greatly expand/fuel our awareness. We may also be more effective at communicating our thoughts and ideas now.

The Astrology that day: The Moon was in sympathetic/empathic Pisces, the sign of self-sacrifice and service to others. There was also a stellium of five planets and Chiron in anchoring, earthy Taurus, the sign in which our intentions are made manifest, including Venus (love) and Saturn (duty and responsibility), which were exactly conjunct in Taurus at 5 degrees; Jupiter (goodwill ambassador, philanthropist) was also at 9 degrees of Taurus and exactly trining Uranus (humanitarian, innovator) in healing Virgo.

“I have an almost complete disregard of precedent and a faith in the possibility of something better. It irritates me to be told how things always have been done… I defy the tyranny of precedent. clarity, imagination, Jeannette Rankin begins her first term in Congress, Mercury conjunct Neptune, Moon in Pisces

Cosmic Weather:

“If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is – infinite.” William Blake

With the Moon ensconced in imaginative Pisces, all day, the astrological sign symbolizing transcendence or the domain of the infinite, and logical Mercury exactly conjunct Neptune, the ruler of Pisces (for the third and final time), today decidedly has an otherworldly or more mystical vibe to it!

Meaning, in part, that our more practical day-to-day concerns also tend to be glossed over or subjugated now in favor of reeling in our dreams, visions, or fantasies. In other words, this is an excellent time for crafting the big picture view of how we would like our future to be. Perhaps not as good, though, for penciling in all the logistical details regarding how we’re specifically going to be running our exquisite kingdoms or queendoms. 🙂 Additionally, the Pisces energy is also positive for dissolving differences, or for working more in unison with others.

Of course, since this is also the conclusion of the three-part Mercury and Neptune meetup – which also sort of feels like some kind of TV docudrama, at this point! – we should be receiving some parting insight, or guidance, or clarity now regarding the meaning or purpose of this particular planetary aspect in our lives. It’s like the Neptunian veil is finally lifting and we’re able to peek and see what’s behind it! It could be an illusion or delusion is revealed. Or maybe a cryptic message or communication becomes clearer. Or, perhaps, something that has been withheld by us, or from us, possibly out of fear, comes out of the shadows and dances into the light.

Cosmic Weather:

“Faith does not need to push the river because faith is able to trust that there is a river. The river is flowing. We are in it.” Richard Rohr

The waning Moon exits detached Aquarius and shifts into transcendent Pisces (10:48 am), potentially creating more of a desire now for inner peace, disengagement, and, perhaps, relying more on our faith, over the next couple days.

However, about midday, today, the Moon also forms a square to assertive Mars, newly-deposited in quickening Gemini (12:44 pm). At this time, we may temporarily feel compelled to want to push or force matters along. It could maybe be due to a perceived need for defensive posturing. Or, perhaps, we’re simply exhibiting an overreaction to something cropping up in the moment that leaves us feeling a little unsettled. It’s possible, too, that an expectation that we had for something is also not being met. Or, it may be none of the above! 🙂

Anyway, in order to get back into the composure groove, we might find it best to just take a momentary pause, if possible. Try to get away from whatever is possibly pulling our trigger. Fortunately, too, a lunar sextile to ‘change strategist’ Uranus, in grounded Taurus (1:29 pm), can help us to suddenly gain a fresh, new perspective on matters so we no longer feel that we have to be in control mode. We’re also creatively practical with this aspect.

On This Day in History: On April 1, 1976, Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs found Apple Computer in the garage of Jobs’ parent’s house in Cupertino, California.

Among the planetary aspects in the sky that day, pioneering Mars, in tenacious Cancer, was exactly forming a waning trine to Uranus, the ruler of technology, in the transforming sign of Scorpio. Mars-Uranus energy is perfect for putting into motion items or projects that are cutting-edge, original, or unique.

On a lighter note, thought it was kind of cool, too, that Mars was in home and family ruling Cancer, that day, and Apple was started in Jobs’ parent’s garage! Gotta’ love the synchronicity!

Daily astrology February 7 2019, Daily horoscope February 7 2019, faith, Mercury sextile Mars, Moon in Pisces, On February 7 1964 the Beatles visit the US for the very first time, Sun sextile Jupiter, taking action on our ideas

Cosmic Weather:

“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

It’s a very cool, inspiring day in the heavens above! Hopefully, this will also translate into a plethora of inspiration for all of us, down below, on Mother Earth. We have two big planetary aspects especially impacting us now: The Sun in Aquarius is sextile to Jupiter in Sagittarius (7:33 pm), and Mercury in Aquarius is sextile to Mars in Aries (8:25 pm).

The Sun-Jupiter aspect is a fabulous fortifier for our own sense of faith or belief in ourselves. It helps us to have more enthusiasm for what we’re doing. It makes us more excited and confident about our own prospects for a bright future. We’re also more likely to be open to collaborating with others with divergent viewpoints, as we potentially have a better grasp of the bigger picture of how everything can work together now for the common good. Additionally, the Sun in bohemian Aquarius also encourages us to accept or embrace our own individuality, our own sense of self, and to not worry, unduly, about what others think of us.

Mercury sextile Mars, meanwhile, also helps our thoughts and ideas to flow very freely and fast today. Even more importantly, we’re more likely to act (Mars) on our ideas now, as Mars in assertive Aries enjoys putting things into motion, into taking the lead. This is super good energy for any intellectual work that we may have to do, for communicating, writing, problem-solving, brainstorming, coming up with new ideas. Also for drawing up and or signing contracts or agreements. Yours truly is signing some important paperwork today that has been on my radar screen for several weeks. Looking forward to finally putting my John Hancock on the dotted line! 🙂

The Moon is also in soothing Pisces, all day, which should be a nice, supportive backdrop for the other more active energies of the day. The Pisces Moon tends to make us more reflective and sympathetic. We may want to schedule some alone time for ourselves now, to maybe commune with nature. Or to, perhaps, engage in some quiet prayer, meditation, or reading. The Moon in Pisces will sextile transformational Pluto in Capricorn, later this afternoon (5:13 pm), and then go void of course until tomorrow morning, when it enters pioneering Aries (9:34 am).

On This Day in History: On February 7, 1964, The Beatles visit the U.S for the very first time. They were met by 3,000 screaming fans at Kennedy Airport! The Beatles had just scored their first No. 1 U.S. hit six days before with “I Want to Hold Your Hand.” In the sky that day, the Sun and Mars were conjunct in innovative, electrifying Aquarius suggesting something radically new and different was afloat in the collective. The Sun was also just separating from a sextile to propitious Jupiter in trailblazing Aries, the very same planetary aspect that we have today, except Jupiter was in Aries then.

Enjoy your day!

“The world of reality (Saturn) has its limits; the world of imagination (Neptune) is boundless.” Jean-Jacques Rousseau

Mercury, Saturn, Pluto, and the South Node are all ensconced in responsible Capricorn now. We also have the annual, intense Sun-Pluto conjunction, tomorrow. But all this doesn’t necessarily mean that we can’t put aside those early January “to-do lists” or whatever and take a breather to re-charge our body, mind, and spirit. With Luna streaming through dreamy, reflective, otherworldy Pisces, all day, it’s a perfect time to re-focus our energies on activities or outlets that enlist our imagination, dreams, creativity, as well as humanity. Too, as most of us know, when we stay focused on what’s in front of us, we keep getting more of the same. But when we dare to hang out in the boundless, endless sphere of our imagination, that’s where we really have the chance to thrive and create a brand new world or paradigm for ourselves. “We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.” Kurt Vonnegut

Famous January 10 Birthdays: Rod Stewart, George Foreman, Pat Benatar, Jim Croce

“What I do now is all my dad’s fault, because he bought me a guitar, for no apparent reason.” Rod Stewart.

On This Date in History: On January 10, 1956 Elvis Presley records “Heartbreak Hotel”.

The transiting Sun in Capricorn was sextile to Elvis’ lucky Jupiter in Scorpio that day. Transiting Pluto was also in rock star Leo and trining innovative Uranus, in pioneering Aries, in Elvis’ 5th house of creative expression – a potent planetary aspect that helped to transform (Pluto) his world through the expression of his electrifying and unique talents and gifts (Uranus). He also had that latter, more long-term Pluto-Uranus aspect, at play, all through 1956, when he released a lot of other classics including “Love Me Tender” and “Hound Dog”.

Hope you have a very lovely, rejuvenating day. Dream big! All the way to the Pisces Moon.
