Cosmic Weather:

“Some of us think holding on makes us strong; but sometimes it is letting go.” – Herman Hesse

This Tuesday morning, Luna in Scorpio is in her Waning Crescent Phase, and sextile to both the empowering Sun (7:36 am) and transformational Pluto in Capricorn (9:27 am) – a period which is perceived to be a boon – at least on paper – for any kind of purging, decluttering, or refurbishing projects, including on the corporate or business front.

Tomorrow, too, the annual Sun-Pluto conjunction will become exact. Often that pairing poises us to want to, among other things, closely scrutinize matters in a determined bid to exposing any possible weaknesses or kinks in the underlying infrastructure of things so we have a better idea of what maybe needs to be either shored up or pitched or possibly even reformulated. Pluto is linked with X-ray vision and tends to reveal what is hidden in the depths. This morning’s lunar aspects could also be a bit of a preview or test-run for what follows tomorrow.

And, of course, we also have homing pigeon Mercury stationing direct in Capricorn tomorrow.

In between all that, Luna will also shift into freedom-loving Sagittarius around lunchtime today (12:33 pm), which usually serves to stoke our visionary side.

*All times EST

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Astrology December 31, 2020: Venus Conjunct The South Node

Cosmic Weather:

This morning we are focused on home, family, and seeking out comfort or the familiar as the Waning Moon wraps up her stay in nurturing Cancer.

Love planet Venus also conjuncts the South Node in Sagittarius (9:15 am). The South Node represents our karmic past, or what we are moving away from. While this aspect can place our attention on old friendships or attachments, it may also provide us with insight regarding what ties or alignments we may need to let go of as we seek to grow and evolve in the new year. Additionally, it could shed light on what beliefs, ideologies, or values we perhaps need to discard or update as a result of what we learned or experienced in 2020. Author Jennifer Crusie also points out that values aren’t buses. “They’re not supposed to get you anywhere. They’re supposed to define who you are.”

The second half of the day – and for New Year’s Eve – Luna shifts into fun-loving Leo (1:57 pm). This Moon placement is typically a boon for creative outlets of all kinds.

Numerologically, the 31st of the month is associated with a love of beauty, practicality, and finesse with managing or organizing.

*All times EST.

On This Day in History: President Harry S. Truman officially signs Presidential Proclamation 2714 on December 31, 1946, officially declaring the cessation of all hostilities in World War II.

Even though the actual combat of the war ended May 8, 1945, in Europe and September 2, 1945, in the Pacific, the state of war was not lifted off of Japan and Germany in order to give a reason for the necessity of occupation troops in these countries. Once the War Crimes Trials were over, the hostilities were seen as over.

The signing of Proclamation 2714 is the reason why the U.S. recognizes its World War II veterans as anyone who has served between the dates of December 7, 1941, and December 31, 1946. (Wikipedia.com)

Interestingly, when President Truman (also the Commander in Chief) signed Proclamation 2714 on December 31, 1946, astrologically in the sky, that day, the Sun (representing those in power) and Mars (governing war and the military) were both conjunct in Capricorn (the sign of government) at 9 and 10 degrees, respectively. Both were also square to dissolving Neptune, which was at 10 degrees of diplomatic Libra. Transpersonal, unifying Neptune is often a key astrological factor in peace treaties or matters pertaining to ending hostilities. Mars-Neptune generally symbolizes or suggests the termination of conflict. Mars when placed in Saturn-ruled Capricorn can also be a restraining force for outward aggression. The Sun-Mars conjunction is additionally often a very powerful aspect, even though it is of short duration because it usually coincides with significant new beginnings or advancements.

“Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness. If, in our heart, we still cling to anything – anger, anxiety, or possessions – we cannot be free.” Thich Nhat Hanh

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well this New Year’s Eve.

Cosmic Weather:

Aiming to just go with the flow and allowing whatever is already in motion to simply play out to its natural/inevitable conclusion may be the wisest strategy for us to abide by today with Waxing Luna in surrendering Pisces, the very last sign of the zodiac. The Pisces Moon is always a good time for us to decompress/chillout/process. To have faith that what is happening is ultimately for the best. It’s also an excellent period to invoke or engage our more creative side or imagination. A mid-morning sextile from the Moon to experimental Uranus Rx in Taurus (10:43 am) may also open the door for us to entertain new ideas, connect with unusual people, or possibly depart from our daily routine in some refreshing way.

“Once you realize you deserve a bright future, letting go of your dark past is the best choice you will ever make.” Roy T. Bennett

*All times EDT.

On This Day in History: On October 26, 1954, Chevrolet unveils a more powerful, small-block V-8 engine to put in their Bel-Aire and Corvette models.

Astrologically, that day, there was a New Moon in transformational Scorpio which was exactly square to energizing Mars in the cutting-edge sign of Aquarius, which governs innovation and technology.

Eventually, a majority of GM’s ‘60s muscle cars (Mars cars!!!) would be powered by the small-block engine. The power the engine produced was enough to carry Chevy’s land yachts like the Impala and provide that tire-spinning power that muscle cars are famous for.

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

daily astrology, deep emotions, Last Quarter Moon in Scorpio 2020, letting go, moving forward, numerology, Tarot

Cosmic Weather:

“The emotion that can break your heart is sometimes the very one that heals it…” Nicholas Sparks.

The Last Quarter Moon in intense Scorpio takes center-stage today (at 5:17 pm). This lunar phase could highlight or underscore for us where we may be overly invested emotionally, or where we may be holding on too tightly (to the past), and how that more rigid-like stance could be undermining the positive growth that we’ve intended or envisioned for ourselves (Sun in Aquarius).

Fortunately, shortly after the LQM occurs Luna also sextiles Saturn (at 5:20 pm), which should give us an ability to capitalize on our past experiences with respect to managing any present issues; Moon-Saturn tends to be more stabilizing for the emotions. It’s also good energy for working out home or family concerns.

This is also the last full day that assertive Mars will be in adventurous Sagittarius so there could be a final, last-minute push or desire to chase our dreams, stretch our horizons. On a collective level, we could also possibly see pivotal developments in the legal arena, such as important trials coming to an end.

*All times EST

Tarot Card For The Day: The Three of Pentacles, which suggests that we are well on our way towards self-mastery or perfecting a craft or skill, but that there’s also still much work to be done and that we need to continue to apply ourselves diligently to the tasks before us. This card can also represent the need for group involvement or for working in conjunction with others.

Numerology for 2-15-2020: Being the 15th day of the month (which reduces down to a Venus-ruled six) there can be a stepped-up desire for social involvement or engagement in artistic pursuits as well as a special flair for dealing with people in general. There’s also possibly enhanced ability for honing in on our business interests. Too, we are exactly at the midway mark of February and this fact alone could also motivate us to keep wanting to methodically plug along to a successful conclusion of things, assuming we have already invested a great deal of our time and talent to make a go of certain things.

On This Day in History: On February 15, 1879, the US Congress authorizes women lawyers to practice before the Supreme Court.

In the heavens, that day, the power-enhancing Sun, analytical orator Mercury and high-minded Jupiter were deposited in equality-oriented Aquarius. The Sun/Mercury midpoint was also exactly conjunct expansive Jupiter, suggesting perhaps a wider arena or platform for expressing powerful (Sun) thoughts and ideas (Mercury) of a more legal/ethical/philosophical nature (Jupiter). The Moon, symbolizing women, was also in diversity welcoming Sagittarius, the Jupiter-ruled sign that formally governs the law and courts. (Libra, the Scales, also deals with issues of justice or fairness.)

Born On This Day: Galileo Galilei, in 1564, an Italian astronomer, physicist, and engineer who has been called the father of science (d. 1642).

Galileo had Mercury exactly conjunct Pluto in his chart often an indicator of strong powers of observation. He also had Saturn, the planet that rules science, in a tight conjunction with abundant Jupiter.

A quote by Galileo: “The sun, with all those planets revolving around it and dependent on it, can still ripen a bunch of grapes as if it had nothing else in the universe to do.”

Hope it’s a good one!

Today’s Astrology June 23, 2019: Venus Opposes Jupiter

(Venus in Gemini opposes Jupiter Rx in Sagittarius, 12:44 pm;

Venus quinqunx Saturn in Capricorn, 10:31 pm;

Moon in Pisces squares Jupiter, 10:03 pm; sextiles Saturn, 11:09 pm; squares Venus, 11:13 pm; and conjuncts Neptune in Pisces, 11:55 pm.)

*All times EDT

It sometimes seems that our desires, needs, and/or wants have a mind of their own, doesn’t it? Today, for instance, we may crave x,y, or z. But then, tomorrow, we may do a complete 180 and suddenly want whatever we didn’t want yesterday. Go figure! And then there are other times when we are pretty much clueless about seemingly everything, except maybe about the type of food we like to eat. Or perhaps the people we like to hang out with. 🙂

With Venus (representing what we love, covet, or value) forming an opposition to Jupiter Rx (the urge for expansion), we may be seductively drawn to an ever-widening array of choices that we perceive or suspect might bring us a fairly good measure of earthly pleasure. Sort of akin to a child being set loose in a toy store and wanting or demanding to see/touch/examine everything.

But Venus is also forming a quincunx aspect to Saturn Rx (signifying rules, limits, and the past). This influence seems to suggest that while we are pondering or reaching for more now, we also are possibly constrained or restricted, in some ways, by the memories or experience(s) of our past. It could be, too, that we’re waxing nostalgic for certain elements of our past; but also probably knowing, simultaneously, that those things are no longer really doable or viable for us, in our present-day world, and that looking back upon them now might even be a bit torturous or self-sabotaging for us, depending upon how we manage to spin things. Saturn also signifies the scarcity principle so perhaps we are feeling ambivalent about even indulging our desires, at this time, with taskmaster Saturn reminding us that “there’s always a price to pay for everything.”

To top it off, the Waning Moon is also in dissolving, transpersonal Pisces, all day, and later tonight, it will also be aspecting Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn, as well as ego-denying Neptune, the Moon’s ruler, so it could be that we are able to cross a bridge or turn a corner now, and move forward, to some degree, by letting go, or by surrendering some of what we have – but don’t really need. Too, just cognitively recognizing/accepting our resistance to letting go of “whatever it may be” now might also be a positive game-changer for us as it’s potentially laying down the groundwork for the future, and how we may want that future to be. Sometimes, we have to partake in a number of “test-runs” in our head before we’re fairly certain that we’re proceeding in the right direction.

“What’s the greater risk? Letting go of what people think – or letting go of how I feel, what I believe, and who I am?” Brene Brown

Question for Today: What one thing could you give up now that you intuitively know would be very freeing for you? Also, how might you be liberated by its release?

On This Day in History: On June 23, 1963, The Detroit March to Freedom occurs with 125,000 people participating, the largest civil rights demonstration in America up to that point.

Astrologically, that day, the nurturing Cancer Sun was exactly sextile to Uranus, the planet of change and equality, in the corrective sign of Virgo. (Sun-Uranus also favors group expression/group participation especially with respect to social and or humanitarian causes.)

Pioneering, assertive Mars was also separating (one degree) from an exact conjunction with transforming Pluto, both planets also in “fix-it” Virgo. Mars-Pluto energy is generally very powerful and intense in nature. We normally feel very driven or motivated to attain our objectives with it. It’s also associated with displaying acts of courage and or bravery as well as wanting to reclaim/wield/espouse our own personal power in the world.

“The cost of liberty is less than the price of repression.” W.E.B Du Bois

daily astrology, daily horoscope, Janis Joplin performs her first live concert, letting go, opportunity, productivity, self-improvement, Sun opposes Jupiter, Sun quinqunx Saturn

Cosmic Weather:

We start out the gate, this Monday, with the Waxing, First Quarter Moon in the self-improvement sign of Virgo, until early tonight (at 8:28 pm), when it will then shift into balancing Libra. The Virgo Moon also goes VOC, this morning (at 8:01 am). Generally, the Virgo Moon is a good time to be purposeful and productive and to focus on tasks that require attention to detail and discipline. As to how we can be most productive, Dale Carnegie once insightfully advised: “Do the hard jobs first. The easy jobs will take care of themselves.”

The curious Sun in Gemini is also quinqunx to taskmaster Saturn Rx in Capricorn today (at 5:03 am), suggesting we are harboring some possible angst about our (past) worldly accomplishments now, including maybe even second-guessing ourselves? Or, possibly it is something else that is red flagging or dogging us now (if we are feeling out of sorts), that also has us maybe thinking about security or scarcity issues. Whatever the complicated, twisted scenario, a smart, savvy power play for us now might be to simply hit the pause button. Give ourselves some time to restoratively breathe again, and to sensibly sort things out. Maybe we are (or have been) going down the wrong road path(s), as of late (for one reason or the other), and we now need to simply modify or re-arrange our fetching designer thinking caps on our heads so we can boogie on back to our drawing boards, in style.

Lastly, we also have the Gemini Sun making a formal opposition to Santa Claus Jupiter Rx in Sagittarius, later this morning (11:27 am). Ironically, what Saturn takes away, Jupiter often tries its best to copiously bring back, ten-fold! This expansive Sun-Jupiter energy, while it can bring us some exciting goodies (opportunities) today – and hopefully it will – it can also make us more inclined to overreach (or to put more on our plates than we will ever be able to consume or use). Unfortunately, having too much of even the “good things” in life can lead, eventually, to inner feelings of powerlessness, as we can begin to fractionalize our energies that way (and that can also quickly lead to extra stress and/or burn-out). Since Jupiter is also Rx now, it could be that we are being shown today where we have already taken on too much of a load, etc., and now we are seeing that we need to let some of it go. Something which the detoxifying Virgo Moon, and minimalist Saturn in Cappie, can both gladly, and most assuredly, help us out with!

On This Day in History: On June 10, 1966, Janis Joplin’s first live concert was held in Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco.

Joplin (b. 1/19/43) had transiting Saturn in creative Pisces exactly sextile to her Capricorn Sun, that day (often a time of notable career success, when we are rewarded for our past efforts). Assertive, energizing Mars was also in Gemini and exactly trine to her natal Mercury in inventive Aquarius (a period when we usually feel much more like relating and communicating with others, and a time when our speech and words flow much more freely – excellent for being on stage).

“Some people believe holding on and hanging in there are signs of great strength. However, there are times when it takes much more strength to know when to let go and then do it.” Ann Landers

Pieniny, Mountains, Landscape, Water

Today’s Energy:

When a river becomes clogged with debris, and its flow is hampered, we don’t criticize it or judge it as being a bad river, per se; rather, we may simply view it as a body of water that has somehow managed to become temporarily obstructed by a foreign something. Likewise, it seems that we should also be willing to extend this same type of detached perception to ourselves when, on occasion, our vulnerable “interior realm” becomes bogged down by our fears, anxieties, doubts, or worries. In these instances, it’s not that we’re an awful or terrible person, when we’re in this more fragile state of being (even though we may believe that we indeed are); it’s just that our flow has been temporarily interrupted by the challenging forces of our personality, or our subconscious – forces that we must eventually learn how to integrate into our life if we are to successfully move on to the next step of our journey.

With “intellectual” Mercury squaring “purging” Pluto today (5:20 pm EDT) it’s really a wonderful time for us to sit with or examine some of our own natural debris or “shadow material” (which Pluto represents), and see what comes up for us in the process; see what it is inside ourselves that might need to be healed or released now. Or, to put it another way, today may be a time when we can better understand (Mercury) the nature of our own inner darkness (Pluto). In general, Mercury-Pluto is associated with mental breakthroughs and transformational thinking, often as a result of some kind of breakdown first occurring, with Pluto symbolizing the principle of “death and rebirth.”

This same energy can also serve to lend more power or conviction to our words or speech (governed by Mercury), as what is emanating from us now tends to be coming straight from the very depths of our being, from our true authentic self. Mercury-Pluto is also sometimes linked with dramatic, intense verbal encounters (volcanic type eruptions) with others. It is also a time when we may be able to ferret out secrets or get to the bottom of things, as Pluto tends to heighten our powers of perception. On the shadow side, we may need to guard against obsessive or overly suspicious thinking now, or avoid engaging in mental manipulations  (i.e forcing our opinions or viewpoints on others, lording our power over others).

Due to Mercury’s recent retrograde phase, today’s square aspect between Mercury and Pluto is actually their third and final meetup. Their first coming together was on Sept. 9; the second time was on September 24. We may want to trace back what was happening in our lives, during those two times, as today could bring some kind of final resolution or conclusion to those matters.

Questions for Today: What must you release to “free your spirit” from bondage? How important is it for you to “get at the truth” at any cost? How comfortable are you with speaking your truth? What truth would you prefer not to have to face, and why?

In the News: Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton appears before an investigative House panel on the Benghazi attacks.

Today’s Energy:

The waning Gemini Moon enters its “Last Quarter Phase” at 5:54 am. The Last Quarter Moon period is a time when we may experience some inner conflict or crisis as we ponder what to hold on to and what to release as we prepare ourselves for the coming New Moon in “harvesting” Virgo, on September 13, which also happens to be a Solar Eclipse. Too, an apt analogy here might be to compare the Moon’s last quarter phase to a little like reviewing and re-balancing our 401-k or other investments: we are moving things around now in order to hopefully get the best bang for our buck (or return on our energetic investment). The Sun’s waning trine to “eliminating” Pluto  (7:08pm) should also help us to see more clearly where we may need to cut our losses, to forge ahead.

Cosmic Quote of the Day: “Learning to let go should be learned before learning to get. Life should be touched, not strangled. You’ve got to relax, let it happen at times, and at others move forward with it.” Ray Bradbury

Every day, each of us wrestles with “hanging on or letting go” in myriad aspects of our life. While we’re not always sure which route to take here, being clear about our values and the personal vision for our life, is normally a good starting point from which to begin to wade through this process and to move on, especially if we are to be true to ourselves.  Today, with the illuminating Sun opposite purging Pluto, a once a year occurrence, we tend to be more focused upon those issues that we intuitively know we need to get rid of, that have been weighing us down, where we’ve been holding on perhaps too tightly out of fear, or out of concern of a loss of control. Writer Dan Brown, author of The Da Vinci Code, says that men go to far greater lengths to avoid what they fear than to obtain what they desire.

To Say Goodbye

(Today’s Planetary Aspects: Moon trines Neptune, 9:01 am; Moon sextiles Pluto, 6:06 pm; The Moon is in releasing Scorpio all day; Mercury finishes its shadow period today at 13 degrees of Gemini. All times are EDT.)

Cosmic Quote of the Day: “Thank God I found the GOOD in goodbye” Beyonce Knowles

Finding the GOOD in goodbye is both an enlightening and uplifting concept because, on the one hand, it propels us to examine the upside aspects of a parting (Scorpio) – something that we might, otherwise, be tempted to forego. Secondly, it blesses or attaches a positive vibration or sentiment to whomever or whatever we are saying goodbye to.

About Today’s Energy: The Moon in Scorpio adds an element of depth and complexity to our perceptions and interactions. An early morning trine to intuitive Neptune (9:01 am) also helps us to adeptly tune into other people’s feelings and desires. Later, the Moon’s sextile to influential Pluto (6:06 pm) can positively re-acquaint us with a sense of our own power and capability, which can, in turn, motivate us to tackle more challenging tasks.  Too, ideally included in this itinerary will be finding some time to partake in de-cluttering or refurbishing projects, which Scorpio energy is so characteristically famous for. This is also an excellent period for sharing intimacy with another, channeling our inner detective, going antiquing, or having a past life reading.

Famous Birthdays June 27: Khloe Kardashian, Helen Keller, Ross Perot, Vera Wang

“No pessimist ever discovered the secrets of the stars, or sailed to an uncharted land, or opened a heaven to the human spirit.” Helen Keller

Enjoy your Saturday!
