born on this day, daily astrology, Mars stations direct, moving forward

Cosmic Weather:

“Were it not for the leaping and twinkling of the soul, man would rot away in his greatest passion, idleness.” – Carl Jung

On this second Thursday of January, perceived energy dynamo Mars – which is also thought to signify motivation, assertion, and aggression – finally stations direct in the communication and travel sign of Gemini today, at 8 degrees (3:56 pm) – after a more than two-month retrograde cycle which began on October 30th.

Too, if you remember, it was also around that same time – October 27th, to be precise – that Elon Musk acquired the social media platform Twitter for $44 billion. (Most definitely, lots of wild twists and turns with that one!)

Also, free speech and content moderation – both Gemini-ruled areas – have become pretty hot topics, really flashpoints for discussion, since Musk became Chief Twit at the company.

Also, yesterday’s massive FAA computer system outage that temporarily brought nearly all air travel to a total halt in the US was occurring at the same time mover and shaker Mars was pretty much motionless in the sky, ahead of today’s official direct stationing. Perhaps also symbolizing a final bit of icing on the Mars Rx-Mercury Rx double-layer cake! 🙂

So anyway, the bright hope today among many stargazers such as myself, is that with galvanizing Mars seemingly springing into direct motion again we will also, likewise, reclaim the spring in our step, in the days and weeks ahead (Mars will be in its shadow until mid-March) – assuming we have lost it, of course, in the first place – and go on to resume doing even greater things in the world, with the Mars Rx phase theoretically marking a pause period when we were, more or less, rethinking, redoing, overhauling many of our dashing Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers dance steps in our already very crammed-full heads (thanks, in part, to all the Mars in Gemini heightened cognitive activity!)

Too, at the risk of becoming kind of misty-eyed here – even those of us with two left feet – are even beginning to feel a bit more optimistic now about the promising possibilities ahead. Just have to take down Mercury Rx in Capricorn on the 18th and we will pretty much be all set! One down, one to go! 🙂

Born On This Day: Swami Vivekananda (born Narendranath Datta), an Indian Hindu monk, philosopher, author, religious teacher, and the chief disciple of the Indian mystic Ramakrishna. He was a key figure in the introduction of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world; and is credited with raising interfaith awareness and bringing Hinduism to the status of a major world religion (Wikipedia):

“All the powers in the universe are already ours.”

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Astrology February 15, 2020: The Last Quarter Moon in Scorpio

Cosmic Weather:

“The emotion that can break your heart is sometimes the very one that heals it…” Nicholas Sparks.

The Last Quarter Moon in intense Scorpio takes center-stage today (at 5:17 pm). This lunar phase could highlight or underscore for us where we may be overly invested emotionally, or where we may be holding on too tightly (to the past), and how that more rigid-like stance could be undermining the positive growth that we’ve intended or envisioned for ourselves (Sun in Aquarius).

Fortunately, shortly after the LQM occurs Luna also sextiles Saturn (at 5:20 pm), which should give us an ability to capitalize on our past experiences with respect to managing any present issues; Moon-Saturn tends to be more stabilizing for the emotions. It’s also good energy for working out home or family concerns.

This is also the last full day that assertive Mars will be in adventurous Sagittarius so there could be a final, last-minute push or desire to chase our dreams, stretch our horizons. On a collective level, we could also possibly see pivotal developments in the legal arena, such as important trials coming to an end.

*All times EST

Tarot Card For The Day: The Three of Pentacles, which suggests that we are well on our way towards self-mastery or perfecting a craft or skill, but that there’s also still much work to be done and that we need to continue to apply ourselves diligently to the tasks before us. This card can also represent the need for group involvement or for working in conjunction with others.

Numerology for 2-15-2020: Being the 15th day of the month (which reduces down to a Venus-ruled six) there can be a stepped-up desire for social involvement or engagement in artistic pursuits as well as a special flair for dealing with people in general. There’s also possibly enhanced ability for honing in on our business interests. Too, we are exactly at the midway mark of February and this fact alone could also motivate us to keep wanting to methodically plug along to a successful conclusion of things, assuming we have already invested a great deal of our time and talent to make a go of certain things.

On This Day in History: On February 15, 1879, the US Congress authorizes women lawyers to practice before the Supreme Court.

In the heavens, that day, the power-enhancing Sun, analytical orator Mercury and high-minded Jupiter were deposited in equality-oriented Aquarius. The Sun/Mercury midpoint was also exactly conjunct expansive Jupiter, suggesting perhaps a wider arena or platform for expressing powerful (Sun) thoughts and ideas (Mercury) of a more legal/ethical/philosophical nature (Jupiter). The Moon, symbolizing women, was also in diversity welcoming Sagittarius, the Jupiter-ruled sign that formally governs the law and courts. (Libra, the Scales, also deals with issues of justice or fairness.)

Born On This Day: Galileo Galilei, in 1564, an Italian astronomer, physicist, and engineer who has been called the father of science (d. 1642).

Galileo had Mercury exactly conjunct Pluto in his chart often an indicator of strong powers of observation. He also had Saturn, the planet that rules science, in a tight conjunction with abundant Jupiter.

A quote by Galileo: “The sun, with all those planets revolving around it and dependent on it, can still ripen a bunch of grapes as if it had nothing else in the universe to do.”

Hope it’s a good one!

Cosmic Quote of the Day: “Learning to let go should be learned before learning to get. Life should be touched, not strangled. You’ve got to relax, let it happen at times, and at others move forward with it.” Ray Bradbury

Every day, each of us wrestles with “hanging on or letting go” in myriad aspects of our life. While we’re not always sure which route to take here, being clear about our values and the personal vision for our life, is normally a good starting point from which to begin to wade through this process and to move on, especially if we are to be true to ourselves.  Today, with the illuminating Sun opposite purging Pluto, a once a year occurrence, we tend to be more focused upon those issues that we intuitively know we need to get rid of, that have been weighing us down, where we’ve been holding on perhaps too tightly out of fear, or out of concern of a loss of control. Writer Dan Brown, author of The Da Vinci Code, says that men go to far greater lengths to avoid what they fear than to obtain what they desire.

Famous July 6 Birthdays: Sylvester Stallone, George W. Bush, John Paul Jones, Nancy Reagan, Merv Griffin

“If fear is cultivated it will become stronger, if faith is cultivated it will achieve mastery.” John Paul Jones

Astrology April 1, 2011: “Time of Transition” Mars and Moon at End of Pisces

COSMIC WEATHER:

“Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It’s the transition that’s troublesome.” Isaac Asimov.

This is the last day for energizer Mars in watery, reflective Pisces (enters Aries, the sign of its rulership, 12:51 am EDT Sat.) Also, this is the last full day for the emotional Moon in Pisces, as it also shifts into fiery, enterprising Aries tomorrow (7:17 am EDT), a time when the “pace of life” could dramatically quicken for many of us. The Moon and Mars will be joining the Sun, Mercury, Jupiter and Uranus in Aries.

Also, whenever Mars changes signs, we always want to pay closer attention to events in the world, as Mars can signal pivotal changes for the matters associated with the zodiacal sign it is entering (Mars provides momentum). For instance, when Mars entered Pisces this last time on February 23rd, is when oil prices suddenly started to surge. Pisces rules oil. Aries is more “confronting-type” energy associated with conflict and war (rules the military and law enforcement). Aries also rules adventure, record-setting and pioneering new territory. It additionally governs athletes and sports.

Too, we have a New Moon in Aries on Sunday, with New Moons signifying “new beginnings” and with it occurring in Aries, the official sign of “new beginnings,” we are effectively getting a “double-whammy” here. Assertive Mars will also be conjuncting unpredictable, wild card Uranus in Aries on Saturday, a planet also known for liberation and discovery, which is a good fit for the similar Aries-type energy it is deposited in.

Needless to say, today we are on the brink of a very highly-charged energy pattern, perhaps the most intense of the year. Aries is all about initiating action and propelling ourselves and our world forward, often at warp speed.

Today, we may want to use this “transitional” Piscean energy to make sure that we have all of our players ready for bat and have a clear idea of how we want to pitch this new Aries ballgame. In line with this, we will want to be putting the finishing touches on our intentions now to be released at the Aries New Moon this weekend.

“You don’t save a pitcher for tomorrow. Tomorrow it may rain.” Leo Durocher

Famous Birthdays April 1: Debbie Reynolds (79), Susan Boyle (50).

Patricia Thompson’s Astrology April 28, 2010: Secret Chamber

“Tell me what you feel in your room when the full moon is shining in upon you and your lamp is dying out, and I will tell you how old you are, and I shall know if you are happy.” Henri Frederic Amiel

As the Moon becomes full in mysterious Scorpio (8:19 am EDT) we’re given a special invite by Pluto in Capricorn to enter a Secret Chamber that deftly houses our innermost sacred being.  If we accept his hospitality, there’s a good chance that we may find some previously heretofore hidden treasure lurking about.

Full Moons masterfully bath us in awareness. This one today at 8 degrees of Scorpio with a T-Square to Mars in Leo and the Sun and Mercury Retrograde in Taurus does not disappoint.

Under its spell, we are privy to altering insights about our inner emotional landscapes and feelings. We become more cognizant of our basic core inklings and receive testament on what provokes or prods our passions.

What is our heart’s truest desire? What do we most covet? What is it that arouses our anger? What are we most fearful of losing? What is blocking us and holding us back?  These are some of the issues and questions we can effectively focus on now and get answers to under the full beam of the ever-illuminating Scorpio Moon.

Scorpio energy is intensely emotional and self-examining, providing us with opportunity for clarity and redemptive purging. We balance this out with the opposing, more placid Taurus energy, which is very grounding and helps us to manifest our intentions.

This Full Moon is an excellent time for clearing and renewing ourselves, as the fixed Taurus, Leo, and Scorpio energy is concentrated and purposeful, allowing us to accomplish whatever we set out to do.

While there is always some resistance to change with the fixed signs, the energy now is much more malleable due to the powerful healing and rejuvenating aspects from Pluto to the Sun, Mercury and the Moon.

We also still have the exact opposition from Saturn in Virgo to Uranus in Pisces, which depicts a tug of war between the old and the new.  This Scorpio Full Moon beneficially assists us in our quest to move forward (Uranus) while pitching outworn elements of the past (Saturn).

“March on.  Do not tarry. To go forward is to move toward perfection. March on, and fear not the thorns, or the sharp stones on life’s path.”   Kahlil Gibran
