“The time for action is now. It’s never too late to do something.” Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Astrologically and metaphorically speaking, today could easily sub as the poster child for the Nike “Just do it!” slogan as we have action planet, Mars, harmoniously trined to expansive Jupiter, the planet of our dreams, goals, higher vision, and understanding. Jupiter also correlates with luck and prosperity. Whenever these two planets pair up, we’re usually more eager to act on our dreams. Often in bold ways! Perhaps even more so now as Mars and Jupiter are each transiting through their own signs, making their impact potentially more powerful. Mars is in initiating Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, and Jupiter is in visionary Sagittarius, the sign of higher education, learning, and travel. Aries and Sagittarius are also both fire signs. Fire signs are interested in direct, creative expression in the outer world. Mars in the sign of Aries can particularly be very pioneering. Highly adventurous. Very history-making! It’s always interesting to see what transpires, globally or collectively, whenever Mars rolls through Aries.  And, today, too, it’s aligned with abundant Jupiter! it could very well be that we’re on the threshold or verge of some major breakthroughs, or some very exciting discoveries!

Opportunities tend to manifest more quickly now, but they do need to be acted upon!  Now is not the time for procrastination! For those of us who may also feel less compelled to tackle any big stuff, at the moment, we still could take some kind of action now to further us along on our path.

“There are two kinds of people. One kind, you can just tell by looking at them at what point they congealed into their final selves. It might be a very nice self, but you know you can expect no more surprises from it. Whereas, the other kind keep moving, changing… They are fluid. They keep moving forward and making new trysts with life, and the motion of it keeps them young. In my opinion, they are the only people who are still alive. You must be constantly on your guard against congealing.” Gail Godwin

Today is also excellent potentially for business expansion, negotiations, publishing, promotions, educational matters, travel planning, and involvement in sports. Mars governs sports and athletics, and when it’s aligned with enthusiastic Jupiter there can be an extra strong desire to break or set performance records. One other thing about Mars-Jupiter energy: When it’s taken to the extreme, it often becomes the epitome of fanaticism! Of course, in sports, fanaticism is probably an advantage, at least to a degree, because with it we’re likely more driven to win or succeed. But, when it comes to fanaticism in our daily lives, that’s another story, and also where things can get a whole lot dicier or complicated! Especially with respect to the topics of religion and politics. Both of those hot button areas are ruled by the planet Jupiter.

The Moon, meanwhile, is also in relationship Libra today endowing us with extra finesse and diplomacy for dealing with others. It’s also a nice influence for romance and socializing! “If I had a flower for every time I thought of you…I could walk through my garden forever.” Alfred Tennyson

Enjoy your day! Just do it! 🙂

Astrology July 10, 2011: Moon in “Transitioning” Scorpio

COSMIC WATCH:

“Disenchantment, whether it is a minor disappointment or a major shock, is the signal that things are moving into transition in our lives.” William Throsby Bridges

This is the last full day of the Moon in “transitioning” Scorpio, with Scorpio the sign of the zodiac formally governing both death and rebirth. Scorpio also rules such things as debt and taxes, and resources that we share with others (joint financial matters, sex).

Today may deliver even more poignant transitions than normal because we still have expander Jupiter, in money-ruling Taurus, involved in a tight, less than one degree trine with Pluto, Scorpio’s ruler, in influential Capricorn, the sign of government, business and career.

Abundant Jupiter, the planet of growth and opportunity, expands whatever it touches and aligned with transforming, rejuvenating Pluto (and the Scorpio Moon), we potentially have a colossal chance (Jupiter) to dramatically reconfigure or reshape things in our lives now, including positively altering our perceptions. This is actually, in a way, very “magical energy” that we have at our disposal now. Magical in the sense that it is replete with great alchemical potential.

It is also a good day to perhaps read about or study matters that we don’t understand, or that are a mystery to us. Scorpio is intrinsically “investigative energy” and always gives us the cool chance to put on our fetching detective caps. The penetrating Scorpio Moon also provides us with a firm backdrop for poking holes through some of our rigid defenses that may be holding us hostage psychologically. Pluto-ruled Scorpio presides over our subconscious, the gateway to our buried past. It also rules the study of psychology.

The protective, nurturing Cancer Sun is additionally forming a fortuitous quintile (72-degree aspect) to optimistic Jupiter today, throwing in an upbeat, creative vibe to the energy of the day. Jupiter governs our vision for ourselves, and endows us with a good measure of faith and hope in the future. The quintile aspect also denotes “special gifts” or “abilities.”

In the News:

With “wild card” Uranus stationing retrograde in “sports-ruling” Aries yesterday, Derek Jeter, a Cancer Sun, became the first Yankees player ever to join the magical “3000 hits” club, a feat only 28 other players in baseball history have been able to accomplish. I mentioned in yesterday’s blog that when a planet changes direction, it tends to call more attention to itself. Uranus is the planet of change and unpredictability. It also governs “genius,” or “flashes of brilliance.”

Fascinatingly, Uranus, which is presently at 4 degrees of Aries, also stationed retrograde in Jeter’s personal horoscope as part of an exact “cardinal t-cross,” in his chart, involving Jeter’s 4 degree Cancer Sun (his sense of power) and 4 degree Pluto in Libra (his ability to transform his life).

Too, often with “action-packed” cardinal energy, is when we see things really “pop,” especially when the “t-cross” or “grand cross configurations” are  also involved.  Jeter also has lucky, transiting Jupiter exactly sextile to his success-driven Saturn in Cancer now, perhaps supplying a good measure of “extra icing” on his cosmic cake. Jupiter harmonious to Saturn is characteristically a time when we are able to manifest our goals and dreams, with form-builder Saturn overseeing our personal and worldly ambitions. Way to go, Derek!

“It’s a funny thing about life; if you refuse to accept anything but the best, very often you get it.” William Somerset Maugham

Enjoy your Sunday! Hope you have a “big hit” of a day!

Astrology July 6, 2011: Mars Trines Productive Saturn

COSMIC WATCH

“Productivity is never an accident. It is always the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent planning, and focused effort.” Paul J. Meyer

This is a day when we may be able to make major inroads with respect to our “to-do lists,” as we not only have an efficient, hardworking Virgo Moon, we also have enterprising Mars, in adaptable Gemini, forming a harmonious trine to productive Saturn in balancing Libra. Saturn governs our sense of duty, self-discipline, and powers of concentration.

Too, Mars trine Saturn is not only an aspect of accomplishment, it can also serve to help stabilize our circumstances. Also, positive Mars-Saturn aspects often coincide with our being recognized for our past efforts (Saturn is linked with karma).

Accordingly, this may be an excellent day for us to detail our professional accomplishments with those who are higher up in the chain of command. Also, we may want to make known to these same individuals our long-term goals and ambitions. Saturn symbolizes persons in authority, as well as seniors. Saturn is also associated with tradition, and Mars-Saturn generally tends to favor using more conventional methods to getting ahead, although Mars in Gemini can also be very versatile and experimental, so we have a little bit of flexibility here.

Interestingly, it was announced today that the South Korean city of Pyeongchang will host the 2018 Winter Olympics, bringing the prestigious games to a new region of Asia. Mars is the planet that rules sports and athletics. Perhaps its placement in curious, inquisitive Gemini is why the traditional hierarchy of the Olympics Committee (denoted by Saturn) decided to go with something different here, on this Mars trine Saturn day. (From wsj.com)

Also, another possible manifestation of this same aspect: For the first time, President Obama (Saturn figure) started fielding questions on Twitter today from “Tweeps.” The pioneering Mars in Gemini (the sign of communication) trine to Saturn symbolizing here the “opening of new doors of communication” with a prominent authority figure (Saturn).

Famous people with Mars trine Saturn: Marilyn Monroe, Andy Griffith, Leonardo Da Vinci, Sinclair Lewis, Annie Lennox

Do you keep a daily “to-do list?” If so, do you reward yourself when you successfully complete what’s on that list?

Personal Note: Now that I have Mercury, Venus and the Sun transiting my 4th house of the home and family in Cancer, I get a chance to play the role of “doting aunt” for a while. Below is a link to “Buckman Film Academy,” which is my niece, Sarah Nagy’s, exclusive film school for children in Portland, Oregon. Sarah (a Leo Sun) is selling some of her original artwork on the site to raise some extra money. You can go to her site and then click on her “artwork for sale” page and see what she is offering.

COSMIC WATCH:

“There’s no place like home.” Dorothy, from The Wizard of Oz.

There’s a New Moon Solar Eclipse at 9 degrees of security-conscious Cancer today (4:55 am EDT), the nurturing sign of Mother and our ancestral roots that is also linked to the past. Eclipses are highly charged events that can have impact for up to six months. Too, the affects of an eclipse are often felt immediately, usually within a few days, on either side of the event (please refer to my other recent “eclipse blogs,”  for more info about this subject).

This lunation, in which the Sun and Moon are both conjunct in Cancer, also sets up a “grand cardinal cross,” or square in the sky, involving Uranus in Aries (personal freedom), Pluto in Capricorn (transformation), and Saturn in Libra (responsibility). New Moons usher in new beginnings, although Solar Eclipses can also bring about sudden endings, especially with respect to long-standing situations.

The grand cardinal cross can also coincide with critical turning points, or releases in matters, that have us “springing into action,” as a response. Our “taking action” can also have the net affect of creating new beginnings for ourselves. Too, just as the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) denote the arrival of the seasons, the activation of the cardinal cross can also denote pivotal life transitions. This “much ballyhooed configuration” is often a potent antidote or cure for any stagnating or fence-straddling tendencies.

Today’s eclipse lunation will likely have us dealing with practical issues of our own basic survival and security, something that is central to the Cancer psyche. Cancer, insulated by its crab shell, is perennially wanting to shore up its defenses and protect itself, and its family members, from possible hostile forces in the outer world. Cancer rules the home (and the womb), our personal haven and private base of operations, to which we return each day to seek solace and nourishment (Cancer also rules the food supply and eating habits).

With the sign of Cancer also being governed by the feminine Moon, women’s issues (including women’s health), as well as issues involving the family and parenting, may figure more prominently into our lives now. Too, just this week, with the Sun in Cancer making an opposition to bulldozing Pluto in Capricorn (part of the grand cross), an FDA panel unanimously voted to revoke the approval of  Avastin, a popular drug for breast cancer treatment (Cancer rules the breasts).

Also, testimony is expected to conclude today in the riveting, high-profile, Casey Anthony trial, that has much of the nation, even the world, glued to their television sets. CNN.com is also reporting that the case could go to the jury as early as this weekend. The Casey Anthony trial centers around a mother allegedly murdering her own child (Cancer-related theme of mother and child). Another example of how the grand cross energy often brings matters to a head and or provides for resolution.

Too, NYT.com is reporting today that the high-profile sexual assault case against Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the former head of the International Monetary Fund, involving a hotel maid (a Cancer-ruled occupation), has suddenly turned around and is weakening, which is a huge development. Other internet news reports, this morning, say the case against him is “imploding” or “collapsing.” In the eclipse chart again, the Sun and Moon in Cancer (the sign of hotels) oppose Pluto which rules rape and sexual assault.  Too, Pluto rules investigative efforts and often when it’s ray is activated, we find out new information that previously was hidden. Reportedly, the hotel maid now has major credibility issues.

Also, with the Eclipse’s square to freedom-loving, rebellious Uranus, in self-identity Aries, we may be tempted to be a bit more defiant now and break with convention in a bid to “do our own thing.” Of course, the Eclipse’s square to taskmaster Saturn, in partnership Libra, should also serve to hold us accountable to others for our actions. Saturn rarely lets us off the hook.

Too, Aries rules the world of sports, and last night, the NBA locked out its’ players which could imperil the 2011-12 basketball season. Could this move also be a manifestation of the volatile Uranus in Aries shaking things up in the sports world? Uranus, on the shadow side, can be a very disruptive influence.

BTW, with the transiting Cancer Sun’s square to non-traditional Uranus (part of the grand cross), this past week, we saw gay marriage, still somewhat of a controversial matter, legalized in the state of New York. Uranus is also the planet of equality and civil rights.

Again, purging, transforming Pluto (ruler of death and regeneration), stationed in utilitarian Capricorn, is a major player in today’s Eclipse, and grand cross, with the Sun and Moon in Cancer opposing it and both Uranus and Saturn squaring it. Pluto will likely have us, once again, reinventing or re-fashioning ourselves (maybe out of practical necessity). We may also discover things about ourselves (hopefully uncover some hidden strengths), that we never knew existed. Pluto characteristically speaks to the “depths of our experience.” It rules our subconscious. Basically, anything that is buried or hidden.

For instance, Pluto also rules mines, and on Wednesday, of this week, U.S. Labor Department officials announced that the Massey energy mine disaster, where 29 workers were killed more than a year ago, was preventable (from wsj.com). This finding also was released (coincidentally?) with the Sun exactly opposite to Pluto.

Too, with Pluto’s “eliminating” ray stoked, once again by the opposing Sun in Cancer, the Greek Parliament finally approved a five-year “austerity plan” for that country. Also, on our own “home front,” with this same planetary aspect, President Obama put pressure on Congress, to come up with a debt-reduction package. He also talked about ending certain tax breaks for “millionaires and billionaires.” Pluto additionally rules debt and taxes, and credit.

Pluto is also, however, not just about coping with less materially, or borrowing. It can also mean that we must pare down our range of activities, so that we can focus or concentrate our energies more. With both Pluto and Saturn, we tend to consolidate our forces.

One more thing, sort of interesting here and very applicable to today’s “home-related” Cancer eclipse. On Wednesday (again with the Cancer Sun opposite revelatory Pluto), a New York Times/CBS News Poll revealed that nearly 9 in 10 Americans say that “owning a home” is still an important part of the American dream, even though many also question it as a good investment, in wake of the brutal recession. (from NYT.com)

NEWS UPDATE Fri. afternoon 7/1: In Riverside County in California, the County Supervisor, Jeff Stone, is reportedly calling for as many as 13 southern counties in California to secede from the state and form a new state called “South California.” He reportedly proposed the idea late yesterday in a statement. I thought this proposal was fascinating, coming on the eve of the Cancer Eclipse, as Cancer rules matters of the land and state government. This “secession” also has shadows of rebel Uranus written all over it. And, Pluto, as Pluto transforms things and this would create another state.

Also, in Minnesota today, the state shut down over a budget deficit impasse (Pluto?).

Other “New Moon in Cancer” tie-ins: moving or changing residences; home remodeling or redecorating; having a yard or tag sale; matters involving homeless people and homeless shelters; self-nurturing; focusing on family issues or relationships (perhaps patching up difficulties); family reunions; outings or events with neighbors; involvement with local community activities;  genealogy research; baking, cooking, and trying out new recipes; buying home furniture or new home appliances; matters involving the restaurant or food industry; anything connected with grocery stores; food banks; matters pertaining to real estate and property investment; property tax issues; matters involving the hotel or hospitality industry; farming and agriculture; issues of homeland security and defense; acts of patriotism; doing gardening and yard work – time for planting above-ground crops (until the Full Moon); matters involving birth control, pregnancy, foster care, and adoption.

Happy Eclipse Day!

COSMIC WATCH:

“Uncertainty and mystery are energies of life. Don’t let them scare you unduly, for they keep boredom at bay and spark creativity.” R.I. Fitzhenry

The Moon continues in active, adventurous Aries compatible for athletic endeavors and for taking initiative. The intellectual Gemini Sun is also forming a quinqunx to probing, intense Pluto in ambitious Capricorn. The complex Sun-Pluto influence gives us more of a desire to go in depth and we may also be more talented at playing detective and solving mysteries.

Too, with Pluto ruling the process of elimination this is an excellent time for purging what is no longer needed, including ridding ourselves of any self-sabotaging habits. Sun-Pluto also equates to a need for power, although we would be wise to make sure that we allow others to have their input as well, instead of completely usurping the show (a Pluto tendency).

Pioneering Mars in practical Taurus is quintile to imaginative Neptune in visualizing Pisces making manifestation of our dreams and desires on this day distinctly possible. This is a very mystical and spiritual aspect that allows for right of passage through rare portals leading to magical realms.

“To see a world in a grain of sand and heaven in a wild flower, hold infinity in the palms of your hand and eternity in an hour.” William Blake

Hope you have a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend! I am going to be taking a short vacation and will be away from here for a few days.

COSMIC WEATHER:

“Endurance is one of the most difficult disciplines, but it is to the one who endures that the final victory comes.” Buddha

Enterprising Mars in initiating Aries forms an exact opposition to restrictive Saturn in relationship Libra (12:03 pm EDT). Our varied efforts to spearhead things (Mars) may encounter stiff resistance or opposition from others (Saturn). “Mars-Saturn” energy is often portrayed as trying to drive a car (Mars) with the brakes on (Saturn). Often with this aspect we come to an awareness of our limitations or weaknesses, and accordingly, we often end up having to patiently revise our strategies, or run the risk of defeat if we don’t.

With Mars-Saturn, we often need to work harder, or at least smarter, and most likely in a very disciplined and controlled manner (Saturn). Too, if we do, and are able to endure and withstand any trials or hurdles that are put in our path, we may be rewarded with a golden victory.

The very last time that we had this identical aspect, Mars in Aries opposite Saturn in Libra, was back in late March of 1981. Interestingly, on March 29, 1981, the “London Marathon” debuted with 7500 runners. Of course, most of us have all heard about how hard marathon runners have to train. This arduous training process is a perfect template for understanding the workings of this “Mars-Saturn” type energy. It’s not an aspect for wimps or quitters. Or for those hoping to coast by on their coattails.  Mars-Saturn characteristically demands our best efforts.

The “London Marathon” is now reportedly one of the biggest running events in the world and is one of the five top world marathons that make up the World Marathon Majors. Too, this Mars-Saturn aspect is indelibly stamped in the horoscope of this annual event. (Birthchart horoscopes can be done for events, not just people.) Also, the day the London Marathon debuted, the empowering Sun was exactly conjunct energy planet Mars in Aries (Aries rules sports) for extra punch.

Wanted to throw in here, too, that actor George Clooney was  born with his Mars in entertainment Leo (0 degrees) exactly opposite his Saturn in ambitious Capricorn (his Saturn is at 30 degrees).  I also see George as a “marathon man” in many ways, don’t you? Seemingly extremely driven, probably doesn’t back down till he gets what he wants (he’s also a plodding Taurus). Too, what woman would not want to gladly “go the distance” with George, regardless of the hurdles? 🙂

Besides the Mars-Saturn opposition today, we also have the Moon entering passionate Scorpio (2:20 am EDT) intensifying our emotions and desires. The Moon also makes a potent sextile to transforming Pluto in Capricorn (2:14 pm EDT), Scorpio’s ruler. A good time for instituting “makeover projects,” especially on the career front (Capricorn).

NEWS UPDATE:  Here I am blogging about the very first London Marathon and, would you believe, that on this very day, with the Mars-Saturn opposition once again exact, Kenya’s Geoffrey Mutai ran the fastest marathon ever, finishing the Boston Marathon in 2 hours, 3 minutes, 2 seconds!!! How cool is that? I love the synchronicity!!!

“Sometimes you have to let everything go – purge yourself if you are unhappy with anything…whatever is bringing you down, get rid of it. Because you’ll find that when you’re free, your true creativity, your true self comes out.” Tina Turner

Well, we would probably be very wise to heed Tina Turner’s advice today and consider eliminating “what isn’t working for us” now, as “bulldozing” Pluto, associated with death and rebirth, stations retrograde in “structural” Capricorn, the sign of business, career, and government. Pluto will stay retrograde until mid-September.

Purge, reform, renew, recycle, makeover, transform, de-clutter. These are all Pluto keywords and, again, they are all descriptive of the types of activities that we may want to consciously engage in now in a bid to “liberate” our true self. (Also, we need to pay attention to the house that Pluto is retrograding in, in our personal horoscopes, for more of a frame of reference regarding where the purging or renewing may be taking place for us on an individual level.)

Too, often around the time that a planet stations retrograde, is when we really glean the “real gist” of the cycle on an internal level. We may also simultaneously see “telling” things happening in the collective that reinforce these Pluto themes home to us now.

Also, this time around we have energizer Mars in “new beginnings” Aries applying to a potent square to Pluto (this aspect will be exact on Monday). Mars square Pluto can denote a time of intense, sustained effort that can really reconfigure the playing field around us. It is a time when we can notably get ahead, if we seriously apply ourselves. Pluto is very concentrated, focused energy and with enterprising Mars beaming down on it, this ‘focus” is potentially magnified or strengthened.

On the shadow side, this very same Mars-Pluto aspect can sometimes backfire for us and have very negative or destructive consequences, if we are acting too much on the level of ego (bereft of conscience), and are too controlling or forceful (Pluto) with respect to pushing our agendas at all cost, even in the face of mighty resistance.

We probably need to be reminded again, too, that Pluto does rule “the underworld.” It can also indicate “extremism” and extremist groups or factions, including terrorist elements. As I am writing this blog this morning, a top news headline is about a police search for a 61-year-old homeless man who is allegedly wanted in connection with the bombing of a synagogue on Thursday in Santa Monica, California. Suffice it to say, Pluto also rules bombs and explosive devices.

Pluto also rules “turning points” and with Mars in sports-ruling Aries (again the Mars-Pluto square), we saw baseball player, Manny Ramirez, suddenly retire yesterday after allegedly and reportedly failing a drug test in spring training. (Pluto’s activated ray often brings about “transparency,” it shines a spotlight on activities that have previously been hidden.) We are also awaiting a verdict in the Barry Bonds‘ perjury trial now.

On a more positive note, a shutdown of the U.S. government was also averted late last night as Democrats and Republicans finally agreed to a budget deal. Pluto rules debt and red ink and is stationed in governmental Capricorn. All week, we have heard graphic reports, too, of what a “scaled-down” (Pluto) U.S. government would look like. Also, this week, House Republican, Paul Ryan, who chairs the House Budget Committee, unveiled his own budget blueprint for a massive downsizing of the U.S. government that would also reportedly abolish Medicare and “gut” (Pluto) Medicaid. (Extremist Pluto at work?)

Astrology April 1, 2011: “Time of Transition” Mars and Moon at End of Pisces

COSMIC WEATHER:

“Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It’s the transition that’s troublesome.” Isaac Asimov.

This is the last day for energizer Mars in watery, reflective Pisces (enters Aries, the sign of its rulership, 12:51 am EDT Sat.) Also, this is the last full day for the emotional Moon in Pisces, as it also shifts into fiery, enterprising Aries tomorrow (7:17 am EDT), a time when the “pace of life” could dramatically quicken for many of us. The Moon and Mars will be joining the Sun, Mercury, Jupiter and Uranus in Aries.

Also, whenever Mars changes signs, we always want to pay closer attention to events in the world, as Mars can signal pivotal changes for the matters associated with the zodiacal sign it is entering (Mars provides momentum). For instance, when Mars entered Pisces this last time on February 23rd, is when oil prices suddenly started to surge. Pisces rules oil. Aries is more “confronting-type” energy associated with conflict and war (rules the military and law enforcement). Aries also rules adventure, record-setting and pioneering new territory. It additionally governs athletes and sports.

Too, we have a New Moon in Aries on Sunday, with New Moons signifying “new beginnings” and with it occurring in Aries, the official sign of “new beginnings,” we are effectively getting a “double-whammy” here. Assertive Mars will also be conjuncting unpredictable, wild card Uranus in Aries on Saturday, a planet also known for liberation and discovery, which is a good fit for the similar Aries-type energy it is deposited in.

Needless to say, today we are on the brink of a very highly-charged energy pattern, perhaps the most intense of the year. Aries is all about initiating action and propelling ourselves and our world forward, often at warp speed.

Today, we may want to use this “transitional” Piscean energy to make sure that we have all of our players ready for bat and have a clear idea of how we want to pitch this new Aries ballgame. In line with this, we will want to be putting the finishing touches on our intentions now to be released at the Aries New Moon this weekend.

“You don’t save a pitcher for tomorrow. Tomorrow it may rain.” Leo Durocher

Astrology March 21, 2011: Reform or Revolution? Sun conjunct Uranus in Aries

COSMIC WEATHER:

“A reform is a correction of abuses; a revolution is a transfer of power.” Robert Bulwer-Lytton

Well, now that we know the fine distinction between these two things, reform and revolution, it may be that we see a bit of both of these occurring today as the “big cheese” Sun conjuncts “liberating” Uranus, the sometimes quirky, and often unruly, “rebel stepchild” of the Universe.

“Change-agent” Uranus also tends to be  “unpredictable” in nature, so it’s hard to ever know exactly what he has up his sleeve. It’s probably best for us to just prime ourselves for the “unexpected” today, and hope it will be “very good” unexpected stuff that develops in our lives.

Uranus can bring about sudden amazing breakthroughs and advances, especially of a more scientific or technological nature. This is especially the case in pioneering Aries, a sign also known for “firsts.” At any rate, a very good day to consider instituting new procedures or processes in our lives to make them more efficient. BTW, Uranus is formally associated with “genius.” Maybe all of our “IQ’s” will effectively get a boost today. Too, this is not a good day to resist change, as it could be a lost cause for us with wacky Uranus breathing down our necks, holding us captive. 🙂

This powerhouse Sun-Uranus pairing is also occurring in “don’t fence me in” Aries, the macho sign of war and the military. Of course, many of us already know what is presently unfolding in Libya with the international coalition forces enacting a no-fly zone over that country. Heard on the Wall Street Journal Radio this morning (love their early morning news program) that there is also reportedly some concern that Moammar Qadhafi could resort to terrorism, at some point, even use mustard gas.

Too, more unrest is again brewing in other areas of the Middle East. (We also have Mercury and Jupiter in Aries.) Ever since expansive Jupiter got into Aries, late January, is when the political activism and social unrest in the Middle East started heating up (also had warrior Mars in group-oriented Aquarius setting the tone then. Mars rules Aries.).

Aries also rules sports. Today, the long-awaited Barry Bonds‘ perjury trial is slated to begin, three years after Bonds was charged with lying to a federal grand jury when he denied knowingly using performance-enhancing drugs. One thing’s for certain about “high-voltage” Sun-Uranus: It is never a boring aspect!

Astrology March 12, 2011: “Break With Routine” Moon in Gemini Horoscope

COSMIC WEATHER:

“Habit and routine have an unbelievable ability to waste and destroy.” Henri de Lubac

Now that “change-agent” Uranus has entered “new beginnings” Aries and the nurturing Moon is in curious Gemini, today is a good time to break with our normal routine to allow for new experiences. The Gemini Moon is all about learning, and demands a good dose of mental stimulation. Visiting a library or a bookstore, or taking in a movie with friends and then chatting about it afterwards, fits this Moon like a glove. Also favored are shorts trips and sightseeing. Or attending lectures and seminars.

Later, the Moon’s square to the contemplative Pisces Sun (6:46 pm EST) suggests that we may want to slow down our pace and go inward for reflection. Also, we may need to tune out discordant people or negative elements from our environment. This strategy also helps to conserve our energies. Sometimes with the Moon and Sun in stressful alignment, especially in the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) we tend to to scatter our resources, or get to feeling overwhelmed. That is why it is important, when feeling this way, to reunite with our center.

Famous Birthdays March 12: Liza Minnelli (65), Mitt Romney (64), James Taylor (63)

In the News: On the very same day that “rebel” Uranus moved into “sports-ruling” Aries, talks between the National Football League and its players union collapsed, with the players union reportedly filing paperwork in federal court to de-certify the union. The dispute is now on route to the courts. (WSJ.com)
