COSMIC WATCH:

“Remember, people will judge you by your actions, not your intentions. You may have a heart of gold…but so does a hard-boiled egg.” Source Unknown

The authoritative Sun, the largest body in our solar system, squares off with forceful Mars today. When these two meet up, we often feel compelled to take assertive action to prove ourselves. The possible challenge for us here is to make sure that by acting in this manner we do not needlessly ruffle too many feathers as this could get us sent to the back of the classroom today! Since Mars also governs our physical energy, we may be able to make headway on our “to-do lists” as we may be feeling more invigorated now.

On another level, Sun-Mars aspects can often be very emotionally galvanizing, poising us to seek out adventurous or trail-blazing experiences.

Also today, mental Mercury is shifting from curious Gemini into sentimental Cancer where it will stay until June 25th. This may find us communicating with more sensitivity, including articulating our feelings more. Our words may also be able to trigger more emotionalism from others. Cancer also rules home and family and Mercury here may be putting more of a focus on these areas for us the next few weeks. “His heart was like a sensitive plant, that opens for a moment in the sunshine, but curls up and shrinks into itself at the slightest touch of the finger, or the lightest breath of the wind.” Anne Bronte

Some Astrological Research about transiting Sun square Mars: The very last time that we had the Sun in communication Gemini, exactly square to Mars in perfecting Virgo (like we have today), was on June 1 of 1980. On that date, The Cable News Network (CNN), was officially launched at 5:00 pm EST in Atlanta, Georgia. Gemini governs news reporting which makes this an especially fascinating bit of astrological info. Mars in industrious Virgo perhaps also helped to take the news to a new level then. Too, again this shows the potential trailblazing aspect of the Sun-Mars aspect.

Famous People with Sun Square Mars: Madonna, Bob Dylan, Muhammad Ali (They were all self-made, pioneer types.)

How comfortable are you with being assertive?

COSMIC WATCH:

“There’s no place like home.” Dorothy, from The Wizard of Oz.

There’s a New Moon Solar Eclipse at 9 degrees of security-conscious Cancer today (4:55 am EDT), the nurturing sign of Mother and our ancestral roots that is also linked to the past. Eclipses are highly charged events that can have impact for up to six months. Too, the affects of an eclipse are often felt immediately, usually within a few days, on either side of the event (please refer to my other recent “eclipse blogs,”  for more info about this subject).

This lunation, in which the Sun and Moon are both conjunct in Cancer, also sets up a “grand cardinal cross,” or square in the sky, involving Uranus in Aries (personal freedom), Pluto in Capricorn (transformation), and Saturn in Libra (responsibility). New Moons usher in new beginnings, although Solar Eclipses can also bring about sudden endings, especially with respect to long-standing situations.

The grand cardinal cross can also coincide with critical turning points, or releases in matters, that have us “springing into action,” as a response. Our “taking action” can also have the net affect of creating new beginnings for ourselves. Too, just as the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) denote the arrival of the seasons, the activation of the cardinal cross can also denote pivotal life transitions. This “much ballyhooed configuration” is often a potent antidote or cure for any stagnating or fence-straddling tendencies.

Today’s eclipse lunation will likely have us dealing with practical issues of our own basic survival and security, something that is central to the Cancer psyche. Cancer, insulated by its crab shell, is perennially wanting to shore up its defenses and protect itself, and its family members, from possible hostile forces in the outer world. Cancer rules the home (and the womb), our personal haven and private base of operations, to which we return each day to seek solace and nourishment (Cancer also rules the food supply and eating habits).

With the sign of Cancer also being governed by the feminine Moon, women’s issues (including women’s health), as well as issues involving the family and parenting, may figure more prominently into our lives now. Too, just this week, with the Sun in Cancer making an opposition to bulldozing Pluto in Capricorn (part of the grand cross), an FDA panel unanimously voted to revoke the approval of  Avastin, a popular drug for breast cancer treatment (Cancer rules the breasts).

Also, testimony is expected to conclude today in the riveting, high-profile, Casey Anthony trial, that has much of the nation, even the world, glued to their television sets. CNN.com is also reporting that the case could go to the jury as early as this weekend. The Casey Anthony trial centers around a mother allegedly murdering her own child (Cancer-related theme of mother and child). Another example of how the grand cross energy often brings matters to a head and or provides for resolution.

Too, NYT.com is reporting today that the high-profile sexual assault case against Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the former head of the International Monetary Fund, involving a hotel maid (a Cancer-ruled occupation), has suddenly turned around and is weakening, which is a huge development. Other internet news reports, this morning, say the case against him is “imploding” or “collapsing.” In the eclipse chart again, the Sun and Moon in Cancer (the sign of hotels) oppose Pluto which rules rape and sexual assault.  Too, Pluto rules investigative efforts and often when it’s ray is activated, we find out new information that previously was hidden. Reportedly, the hotel maid now has major credibility issues.

Also, with the Eclipse’s square to freedom-loving, rebellious Uranus, in self-identity Aries, we may be tempted to be a bit more defiant now and break with convention in a bid to “do our own thing.” Of course, the Eclipse’s square to taskmaster Saturn, in partnership Libra, should also serve to hold us accountable to others for our actions. Saturn rarely lets us off the hook.

Too, Aries rules the world of sports, and last night, the NBA locked out its’ players which could imperil the 2011-12 basketball season. Could this move also be a manifestation of the volatile Uranus in Aries shaking things up in the sports world? Uranus, on the shadow side, can be a very disruptive influence.

BTW, with the transiting Cancer Sun’s square to non-traditional Uranus (part of the grand cross), this past week, we saw gay marriage, still somewhat of a controversial matter, legalized in the state of New York. Uranus is also the planet of equality and civil rights.

Again, purging, transforming Pluto (ruler of death and regeneration), stationed in utilitarian Capricorn, is a major player in today’s Eclipse, and grand cross, with the Sun and Moon in Cancer opposing it and both Uranus and Saturn squaring it. Pluto will likely have us, once again, reinventing or re-fashioning ourselves (maybe out of practical necessity). We may also discover things about ourselves (hopefully uncover some hidden strengths), that we never knew existed. Pluto characteristically speaks to the “depths of our experience.” It rules our subconscious. Basically, anything that is buried or hidden.

For instance, Pluto also rules mines, and on Wednesday, of this week, U.S. Labor Department officials announced that the Massey energy mine disaster, where 29 workers were killed more than a year ago, was preventable (from wsj.com). This finding also was released (coincidentally?) with the Sun exactly opposite to Pluto.

Too, with Pluto’s “eliminating” ray stoked, once again by the opposing Sun in Cancer, the Greek Parliament finally approved a five-year “austerity plan” for that country. Also, on our own “home front,” with this same planetary aspect, President Obama put pressure on Congress, to come up with a debt-reduction package. He also talked about ending certain tax breaks for “millionaires and billionaires.” Pluto additionally rules debt and taxes, and credit.

Pluto is also, however, not just about coping with less materially, or borrowing. It can also mean that we must pare down our range of activities, so that we can focus or concentrate our energies more. With both Pluto and Saturn, we tend to consolidate our forces.

One more thing, sort of interesting here and very applicable to today’s “home-related” Cancer eclipse. On Wednesday (again with the Cancer Sun opposite revelatory Pluto), a New York Times/CBS News Poll revealed that nearly 9 in 10 Americans say that “owning a home” is still an important part of the American dream, even though many also question it as a good investment, in wake of the brutal recession. (from NYT.com)

NEWS UPDATE Fri. afternoon 7/1: In Riverside County in California, the County Supervisor, Jeff Stone, is reportedly calling for as many as 13 southern counties in California to secede from the state and form a new state called “South California.” He reportedly proposed the idea late yesterday in a statement. I thought this proposal was fascinating, coming on the eve of the Cancer Eclipse, as Cancer rules matters of the land and state government. This “secession” also has shadows of rebel Uranus written all over it. And, Pluto, as Pluto transforms things and this would create another state.

Also, in Minnesota today, the state shut down over a budget deficit impasse (Pluto?).

Other “New Moon in Cancer” tie-ins: moving or changing residences; home remodeling or redecorating; having a yard or tag sale; matters involving homeless people and homeless shelters; self-nurturing; focusing on family issues or relationships (perhaps patching up difficulties); family reunions; outings or events with neighbors; involvement with local community activities;  genealogy research; baking, cooking, and trying out new recipes; buying home furniture or new home appliances; matters involving the restaurant or food industry; anything connected with grocery stores; food banks; matters pertaining to real estate and property investment; property tax issues; matters involving the hotel or hospitality industry; farming and agriculture; issues of homeland security and defense; acts of patriotism; doing gardening and yard work – time for planting above-ground crops (until the Full Moon); matters involving birth control, pregnancy, foster care, and adoption.

Happy Eclipse Day!

Astrology April 9, 2011: Purging Pluto Stations Retrograde in Capricorn!

COSMIC WEATHER:

“Sometimes you have to let everything go – purge yourself if you are unhappy with anything…whatever is bringing you down, get rid of it. Because you’ll find that when you’re free, your true creativity, your true self comes out.” Tina Turner

Well, we would probably be very wise to heed Tina Turner’s advice today and consider eliminating “what isn’t working for us” now, as “bulldozing” Pluto, associated with death and rebirth, stations retrograde in “structural” Capricorn, the sign of business, career, and government. Pluto will stay retrograde until mid-September.

Purge, reform, renew, recycle, makeover, transform, de-clutter. These are all Pluto keywords and, again, they are all descriptive of the types of activities that we may want to consciously engage in now in a bid to “liberate” our true self. (Also, we need to pay attention to the house that Pluto is retrograding in, in our personal horoscopes, for more of a frame of reference regarding where the purging or renewing may be taking place for us on an individual level.)

Too, often around the time that a planet stations retrograde, is when we really glean the “real gist” of the cycle on an internal level. We may also simultaneously see “telling” things happening in the collective that reinforce these Pluto themes home to us now.

Also, this time around we have energizer Mars in “new beginnings” Aries applying to a potent square to Pluto (this aspect will be exact on Monday). Mars square Pluto can denote a time of intense, sustained effort that can really reconfigure the playing field around us. It is a time when we can notably get ahead, if we seriously apply ourselves. Pluto is very concentrated, focused energy and with enterprising Mars beaming down on it, this ‘focus” is potentially magnified or strengthened.

On the shadow side, this very same Mars-Pluto aspect can sometimes backfire for us and have very negative or destructive consequences, if we are acting too much on the level of ego (bereft of conscience), and are too controlling or forceful (Pluto) with respect to pushing our agendas at all cost, even in the face of mighty resistance.

We probably need to be reminded again, too, that Pluto does rule “the underworld.” It can also indicate “extremism” and extremist groups or factions, including terrorist elements. As I am writing this blog this morning, a top news headline is about a police search for a 61-year-old homeless man who is allegedly wanted in connection with the bombing of a synagogue on Thursday in Santa Monica, California. Suffice it to say, Pluto also rules bombs and explosive devices.

Pluto also rules “turning points” and with Mars in sports-ruling Aries (again the Mars-Pluto square), we saw baseball player, Manny Ramirez, suddenly retire yesterday after allegedly and reportedly failing a drug test in spring training. (Pluto’s activated ray often brings about “transparency,” it shines a spotlight on activities that have previously been hidden.) We are also awaiting a verdict in the Barry Bonds‘ perjury trial now.

On a more positive note, a shutdown of the U.S. government was also averted late last night as Democrats and Republicans finally agreed to a budget deal. Pluto rules debt and red ink and is stationed in governmental Capricorn. All week, we have heard graphic reports, too, of what a “scaled-down” (Pluto) U.S. government would look like. Also, this week, House Republican, Paul Ryan, who chairs the House Budget Committee, unveiled his own budget blueprint for a massive downsizing of the U.S. government that would also reportedly abolish Medicare and “gut” (Pluto) Medicaid. (Extremist Pluto at work?)

“It is not necessary to change. Survival is not mandatory.” W. Edwards Deming

COSMIC WEATHER:

Energy planet Mars, symbolically depicting the urge for self-assertion, takes the big plunge and officially sky-rockets into hi-tech, futuristic Aquarius, the opinionated, scientific home of wacky astronomers waxing delusional and very bitterly about 13 zodiacal signs. (See link below)  Mars will stay in this sign until February 22nd.

With Mars in Aquarius, a sign which represents cultural diversity and “changing things up,” we are eager to venture off into unchartered waters, as long as we are able to cart along, of course, our smart phones and other technological gadgetry. Aquarius rules innovation and invention, especially more of a scientific or technological nature.

Theoretically we “progress” now by embracing or cultivating change, and utilizing new approaches or strategies in our daily endeavors. As part of this orientation we may want to collaborate with more original-type thinkers, or more non-comforming types, to get a fresh take on things.  We may want also to expand our networking efforts now and get involved more with group causes, or group ventures (Aquarius rules groups and friends). Mars in Aquarius = energy for groups.

The Moon also enters curious, loquacious Gemini today. In Gemini, the Moon provides us with more of a penchant and willingness for flexibility. In other words, more of an ability to go with the flow. We’re not as rigid now, and we’re also wanting to physically move around. We have more of a capacity to see the humor in any situation, too, as this Moon tends to be more light-hearted and likes to laugh. Humor is a positive trait that often gets overlooked, but it’s something that can come in handy for coping with the mighty stresses and woes of living in Madonna’s material world, but, unfortunately, without Madonna’s nifty checkbook to tote around.

Questions to entertain with Mars deposited in Aquarius:

How are we about embracing change? Do we welcome new strategies, or prefer to stick with the tried-and-true?

Can we recall a time when we tried a new approach with something and it saved the day for us?

Is there any one area in our life now that could perhaps benefit by employing new methods? What about changing aspects of our sex life? Mars does rule sex. Hmmmm. Sex life??? Can’t quite recall what that’s all about? ::scratches head::

If we could change one thing about ourselves, what would it be? Our nose? Our brain? The pattern of our fingerprints?

How are we at interfacing with groups of people? Comfortable? Uncomfortable?

Are we more of a leader, or a follower?

Are there any social or humanitarian causes that we could maybe get involved with now? Aquarius pertains to immersion in matters that benefit the collective.

What is the most off-the-wall thing we have done in the past year? Have we even done anything off-the-wall, lately? If not, why not? Could it be that we are packaged too tightly, and that we should give ourselves permission to roam around a little, or a lot? Especially when we are trying to locate the ever-elusive George Clooney.

“They must often change, who would be constant in happiness or wisdom.” Confucius

With Mars in Aquarius, this is the time to take bold, decisive action to get out of our ruts. Out of our stagnation. We should never allow ourselves to think that change is not possible for us. It is, and now is the time to seek out that change! This is also an excellent time for putting new systems or procedures into place. In other words, erecting new infrastructure.

One project that I personally intend to do now is get rid of the ancient computer PC in my home-office. I never use it. All it does it sit on the computer table taking up space. This scenario has been going on for over a year now, ever since I got my new laptop, because I have been terrified at the thought of having to deal with all the plugs and cords, etc. plugged into the computer. Plus, I don’t know how to clean the hard drive. I have decided now, though, that with Mars in hi-tech Aquarius I am going to somehow figure out how to proceed here and get rid of the frickin’ thing. Free up the chi energy around me. In fact, I am resolving to go through every room in my house and purge. I want the environment “different” around me now. I want to tap into the newness and freshness of Mars in Aquarius.

Definition: 1) the uterus of the female and certain higher mammals 2) the place in which anything is formed or produced 3)the interior of anything 4) Obsolete . the belly

Origin: bef. 900 ME, OE: belly, womb; c. D wam, G wamme; Goth wamba belly; cf wamus

COSMIC WEATHER:

Extended forecast here.

A very big day on tap!

Powerful cosmic influences at play.

First off, we have Mental Mercury in Creative, Entertaining Leo exactly trining Expansive, Optimistic Jupiter in “Self-Discovery” Aries. This is a very favorable communication influence and a HUGE aspect for summoning forth and unleashing our personal talents and gifts. New doors could suddenly open up for us as a result of showcasing our unique abilities.

With Mercury-Jupiter, we are also better able to see the “big picture” (Jupiter), as well as agreeably solve situations that may have previously been at an impasse.

Also, our self-confidence soars as does our ability to speak convincingly with authority.

Historically, on a collective level, Mercury-Jupiter has often correlated with major advancements in communication and transportation. It’s also great for diplomatic efforts.

For example, CNN was launched with Mercury-Jupiter.  The Charles DeGaulle Airport opened under this influence. Jupiter also rules the law and courts and with “Decision-Maker” Mercury conjunct “Protective” Jupiter the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Miranda Rights. Also, the Iranian hostages were released in 1981 the day Mercury was trine Jupiter.

Secondly, we have Pioneering, Energetic Mars in the Health and Work Sign of Virgo, harmoniously and exactly sextiling the Sun (Solar Eclipse). Sun-Mars is all about taking action, bold action. Sun-Mars days are always B-I-G for discoveries and blazing new trails. Generally a key time when we can really “leap forward,” both individually and collectively.

Mars, in the sign of Virgo, especially favors health research and medical breakthroughs, as well as any type of endeavor that involves intricate investigation and thorough attention to detail.

This Sun-Mars aspect has already been building for a few days. We also did hear, earlier this week, about positive movement towards an HIV vaccination. (The Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in discovery Aries square to Pluto, which rules research and sexually transmitted diseases, may have also figured in prominently here.)

The Sun-Mars energy will linger for a few more days. It is a potentially positive influence, too, for the delicate placement of the new cap on the BP oil pipe.

Too, if you’re looking for a job, now is a propitious time to do so, as Virgo does rule work and Sun-Mars rules fresh starts. Also, it’s a favorable time for implementing a new positive health regimen (Virgo).

Thirdly. We have the Major New Moon Solar Eclipse at 19 degrees of maternal, familial Cancer (at 3:41 pm EDT.) New Moons are always times for new beginnings and the Eclipse only magnifies the impact and magnitude of them.

With this Eclipse taking place in the home and family sign of Cancer, I believe we are feeling a strong need and desire to return to our past, our roots, specifically the womb, so as to better integrate the past with the present.

Of course, logistically I know this desire to revisit the womb could pose horrendous physical challenges, as most of us are now full-grown adults with weight issues.  Plus many of us also have families of our own.

This whole regression matter could really get very complicated, the more I think about it.  Especially in situations in which our moms have already transitioned to the other side.

However, despite everything, I have compiled an urgent, “top ten list” for the “powers that be,” of why we should be allowed to gain re-entry into the womb, ASAP:

10) Free room and board, even though the “view” is rather limited.

9) We can swim around all day in the nude.

8)  No need for sunscreen.

7 ) Don’t have to worry about “wardrobe malfunctions.”

6) No need for expensive plastic surgery or liposuction.

5) Don’t have to pay taxes.

4) We can suck our thumbs whenever we want.

3) No housework – although I’ll personally miss the more creative aspects of vacuuming.

2) We can perfect our kickboxing technique.

And the number one reason we must gain re-entry into the womb immediately:

1) We figure it’s a pretty safe haven from Sarah Palin. At least for now.

“What’s the difference between a pit bull and a hockey mom? Lipstick.” Sarah Palin

Famous July 11th Cancerian Birthdays: David Henrie (21) “Octomom” Nadya Suleman (35).  Boy, does she ever fit in here today! Hers may be the most celebrated womb in the world! But, I’m wondering, “How the heck are all her offspring going to fit back into it?”

Enjoy your Sunday!

I promise, I won’t tell Sarah Palin which womb you’re in, if she calls. (Love ya’, Sarah! Mama Grizzly!)

“Cosmic Word of The Day”: Womb

Definition: 1) the uterus of the female and certain higher mammals 2) the place in which anything is formed or produced 3)the interior of anything 4) Obsolete . the belly

Origin: bef. 900 ME, OE: belly, womb; c. D wam, G wamme; Goth wamba belly; cf wamus

COSMIC WEATHER:

Also, our self-confidence soars as does our ability to speak convincingly with authority (Leo).

Historically on a collective level, Mercury-Jupiter has often correlated with major advancements in communication and transportation.

Secondly, and also dramatically enhancing the power of the Mercury-Jupiter energy today, we have Pioneering, Energetic Mars in the Health and Employment Sign of Virgo harmoniously and exactly sextiling the Sun (Solar Eclipse).

This Sun-Mars aspect has been building for a few days and we did just hear about positive movement towards an HIV vaccination this week. (The Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in discovery Aries square to Pluto, which rules research and sexually transmitted diseases, may have also figured in prominently here.)

The Sun-Mars will be in effect for a few more days. It is a potentially positive influence, too, for the delicate placement of the new cap on the BP oil pipe.

Too, if you’re looking for a job, as so many of us are, now is a propitious time to do so, as Virgo does rule work and Sun-Mars rules fresh starts. Also, it’s favorable time for implementing a new positive health regimen (Virgo).

Thirdly. We have the Major New Moon Solar Eclipse at 19 degrees of maternal, familial Cancer (at 3:41 pm EDT.) New Moons are always times for new beginnings and the Eclipse only magnifies the impact and magnitude of them.

With this Eclipse taking place in the home and family sign of Cancer, I believe we are feeling a strong need and desire to return to our past, our roots. Specifically we’re seeking to return to the womb.

Of course, logistically I know this desire could pose real physical challenges, as most of us are now full-grown adults with weight issues.

Too, after a close examination of the planets, I have compiled an urgent, “top ten list” for the “powers that be,” of why we should be allowed to gain re-entry into the womb, ASAP:

10) Free room and board, even though the “view” is rather limited

9) We can swim around all day

8)  No need for sunscreen

7 ) Don’t have to worry about “wardrobe malfunctions”

6) No need for expensive plastic surgery

5) Don’t have to pay taxes

4) We can suck our thumbs

3) No housework

2) We can perfect our kickboxing technique

And the number one reason we must gain re-entry into the womb immediately:

1) We figure it’s a pretty safe haven from Sarah Palin

“What’s the difference between a pit bull and a hockey mom? Lipstick.” Sarah Palin

Famous July 11th Cancerian Birthdays: David Henrie (21) “Octomom” Nadya Suleman (35).  Boy, does she fit in today! Hers may be the most famous womb in the world!

Enjoy your Sunday!

I promise, I won’t tell Sarah Palin where you are. (Love ya’, Sarah!)

“No one can whistle a symphony. It takes an orchestra to play it.” H.E. Luccock

Cool quote, isn’t it? And, so true. We are often more limited in what we can do, individually, compared to what we can do when we pool our resources and work together to accomplish a common goal.

Too, when you think about it, the notion of self-sufficiency is really an illusion. No one is ever entirely self-sufficient.

Individual expression within the framework of a group is at the foundation of the Moon in airy Aquarius, the altruistic sign of brotherhood. We are now in day two of the Moon here.

Today is also an ideal time to put our own self-interests on the back burner and instead focus on what we can do to help further the cause of humanity. Sometimes just taking a moment to show someone a little kindness can help turn a world around.

Today’s Aquarian Moon energy also bodes well for matters concerning  invention and scientific discovery, especially since we have the “keen” Sun in Gemini throwing a creative aspect (quintile) to “genius” Uranus in Aries.

Back on June 2, 1904, with the Moon also in Aquarius and expansive Jupiter in pioneering Aries, favorably aspected to focused Saturn in Aquarius, a microbe was identified that is responsible for photosynthesis, a colossal discovery by ‘Professor Schron.’  The Gemini Sun was also exactly conjunct Mars, the ruler of Aries.  Sun-Mars often heralds big events, such as what I wrote about yesterday with the launch of CNN with the Sun in Gemini exactly square Mars.

Also, propitious Jupiter in Aries was harmonious to Pluto in Gemini. Pluto, as ruler of Scorpio, deals with the profound mysteries of life and also coincides with historic firsts. Jupiter is all about giving us opportunity, so we had a chance to unravel one of life’s most amazing processes.

On June 2, 1928 Velveeta Cheese was created by Kraft.  And, guess what? Mental Mercury was in food-sign Cancer and applying to an exact square to discovery Uranus in Aries!  The Gemini Sun was also exactly sextile Mars in Aries then, helping out again with the creation of something new.

Also, Jupiter was in Aries again, so there was a lot of  inventive, adventurous, active-type energy permeating the air, very similar to what we have operating now with Uranus just moving into Aries and Jupiter slated to move there later this week.  This Jupiter-Uranus energy can be very exciting – and apparently quite edible – when Cancer is involved.

In the News:

Running out of time here, but I did get a chance to quickly glance at the horoscopes of Al Gore and Tipper Gore.  In case you didn’t hear about it, they are apparently splitting up after 40 years of marriage, which came as bit of a shock to a lot of people. Al is an Aries (b. 3/31/48) with transformational Pluto now transiting conjunct his Capricorn Moon which rules the home and family (Moon also signifies the wife). This is a big, heavyweight influence.  Pluto tends to emotionally impact us at our very depths and also brings to the surface all kinds of feelings that may have been buried inside for ages.

Tipper is a Leo (b. 8/19/48) and she also has transiting Pluto sitting smack near her seventh house of marriage.  Pluto has a way of coming into our lives in a bulldozer fashion and leveling many of the structures in it.  Pluto is associated with the purging process, and as many of us know, purging elements from our lives can be very painful.

Tipper also has a major opposition aspect from the transiting Neptune to her natal Sun.  Sun-Neptune influences tends to be disillusioning, confusing, and ego-denying.  The Sun also depicts the husband in a woman’s horoscope and can indicate a dissolving of ties in that area, as Neptune is known as the Great Dissolver who often pulls the rug out from under us.

Al and Tipper also have challenging Saturn aspects, which additionally signal endings. Both of their horoscopes are also caught up in the cardinal cross playing out in the collective the next couple years, which I’ll be writing much more about soon. We wish Al and Tipper the best and feel sad about their breakup.

“Some people think that it’s holding on that makes one strong; sometimes it’s letting go.” Unknown source.

June 2 Birthdays: Jerry Mathers (Beaver) and Johnny Weismuller (Tarzan).

Enjoy your Wednesday. Connect with others today and remember to do that good deed.

“To invent, you need a good imagination and a pile of junk.” Thomas Edison (Aquarian)

The Moon ventures into innovative Aquarius (1:08 am EDT), shortly thereafter aligning with rebel Uranus in Aries.  We’re more inclined to want to break some rules today and stretch beyond our current limits.  Towing the status quo is of far less status and consequence to us now.  We want to change things up and make some waves.

Speaking of waves, it was thirty years ago today, June 1, 1980, that Ted Turner’s CNN (Cable News Network) hit the airwaves.

At the time of the debut, the Sun (the core of the enterprise) was in the newsaholic sign of Gemini (Gemini rules news reporting and information-gathering) and in an exact square to pioneering Mars in perceptive Virgo. Sun-Mars days typically usher in new beginnings. The Sun-Mars energy also gives a sense of urgency and adventure, along with a desire to want to go and be where the action (Mars) is. Mars rules the aggressive urge.

Gemini’s planetary ruler, Mercury, which governs speech and communication, was also exactly sextile to long-winded Jupiter, the planet of opportunity and expansion.  With Mercury-Jupiter, there would never be a loss for words or things to report on for CNN.  Jupiter oversizes everything it touches and connected to “Winged Messenger” Mercury it can yield the proverbial “diarrhea of the mouth,” hence the need for 24/7 news coverage.

When CNN launched, expansive Jupiter was in Virgo, along with Mars and Saturn.  Virgo is perfect for in-depth news analysis, as this sign is all about dissecting the facts and information that Gemini has collected.  The descriptive keyword for Virgo is “analysis.” In the physical body, Virgo rules the intestines, the part of the body that breaks down food particles so that they may be digested.

Practical, stabilizing Saturn was also in a supportive sextile to inventive Uranus in transforming Scorpio.  Uranus rules television broadcasting.  Saturn here provided firm footing for the new Uranian venture. You always want to have positive Saturn aspects, as Saturn gives longevity and worldly success.

Additionally, Saturn was exactly square to Neptune in Sagittarius, the sign of long-distance travel and faraway lands.  Neptune rules images and television cameras. CNN became a pioneering platform for broadcasting news images from around the world.

From the beginning, CNN also helped build and fostered a sense of Neptunian oneness.  Neptune is all about dissolving the borders that separate us, both personally and collectively. With CNN, we were finally able to see and hear about what was going on around the world and I think that made us feel more connected in our humanity.

Happy Birthday to you, CNN! We are so glad for your success and we appreciate all that you have done for the world in the way of stellar news coverage. (Also a big shout out to that really cute, Gemini reporter, Anderson Cooper.)

Other June 1st Gemini Birthdays: Marilyn Monroe and Andy Griffith (born on the very same day).

Enjoy your Tuesday. Make some exciting news of your own today.
