“If everybody contemplates the infinite instead of fixing the drains, many of us will die of cholera.” 0 John Rich
Nothing like a corrective, fastidious Virgo Moon for dutifully reminding us of the undeniable fact that the world around us is in a colossal state of disrepair and chaos and must somehow be brought under immediate control, starting with the stack of dirty dishes in the sink! 🙂
Of course, this painful Virgo drill is anathema to the impetuous Aries energy that is also maniacally impinging upon our tender consciousness now, imploring us to leave the dirty dishes for another day.
The tidy Virgo Moon will additionally be making a sweeping trine to repairing Pluto (2:57 pm). So, today, has “fixer-upper” written all over it.
On another level, Moon-Pluto is also good for locating “missing objects.”
Remember that cobra snake that got loose from the Bronx Zoo in NYC, a couple of weeks ago? It has since been named Mia. Anyway, Mia was found when the Moon was exactly sextile Pluto! Pluto rules snakes; it is also linked with detective work.

“As long as you are going to be thinking anyway, think big.”Donald Trump
With the emotional Moon in glamorous, “larger than life” Leo today and five planets in enthusiastic, “originating” Aries, we have a total of six planets in the active fire element now, which is a lot of “inspiring” energy at our disposal. Mental Mercury (retrograde), governing our thoughts and ideas, is also still in a two-degree conjunction with expansive Jupiter, which again encourages us to “think big.”
The proud, creative Leo Moon is also making positive, dynamic aspects to both the Sun (spirit) and Jupiter (growth) in Aries. So this is definitely a day when we have cosmic clearance to go at things “full throttle.” (Of course, we may also need to do some “revising,” later, with Mercury still retrograde.)
BTW, billionaire Donald Trump, quoted above (b. 6/14/46), has a 29 degree, “authoritative, take-charge” Leo Rising or Ascendant (the Asc. is how others view us and it also governs physical appearance and Donald, of course, has the “big” Leo hair). Donald’s energizing Mars at 26 degrees Leo powerfully conjuncts his Rising. Mars in Leo on the Ascendant is a very strong “executive” placement. Mars, ruling the aggressive urge, is also the natural ruler of Aries, so we see a real “Aries flavor” to Donald even though he does not have any planets in Aries. The “‘Martian” Aries-type energy, too, is very conquest-oriented and driven (again this is the kind of energy that we currently have beaming impacting us with the lineup in Aries).
The Leo rising also helps to endow Donald with great self-confidence and a deep sense of his own power (Leo i.e. “lion of the jungle”). Too, his chart reveals a tendency to be a big thinker, by nature, with “gargantuan” Jupiter conjunct his third house of the mind in intellectual Libra (also this placement makes him love beautiful things). This 3rd house placement of Jupiter is also similar is nature to the “Mercury conjunct Jupiter” aspect that we currently have today.
Donald’s Jupiter is also harmoniously trined to both his Sun and Uranus, which are conjunct in versatile Gemini in his career house, which makes him more entrepreneurial, promotion-minded (esp. in sales-oriented Gemini), as well as highly original, particularly with respect to his professional pursuits. The Sun-Uranus aspect can also give him a predilection to side with the underdog at times. He is also not afraid to defy convention (Uranus) in his quest to live authentically (Charlie Sheen also has Sun conjunct Uranus). Sun-Uranus may also incline him (and Charlie) to be more unpredictable at times. The last thing, too, that Sun-Uranus wants to be is “homogenized.” Additionally, Donald’s Moon is in visionary, Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius (like Oprah Winfrey).
Of course, the big question regarding Donald Trump now, is whether he is going to run for U.S. President? While astrology is not fortune-telling and it doesn’t predict the future, curiously, Jupiter, the planet of politics, will be in his 10th house of career in 2012. He also has reportedly said that he would decide the matter, this June, his birthday month, a time when pioneering Mars will be entering his career house (it enters it mid-June). Mars through the tenth house can be a highly ambitious time, and a time for “new professional starts.” The plot thickens!
Would you vote for Donald Trump for President? Yes? No? What about if he got a different-style haircut? Did away with that big Leo hair? Would that affect your decision any? 🙂 I personally like Donald because he is different and charismatic. His Mars is also exactly conjunct my 26 degree Moon in Leo, so emotionally he tends to energize me. My late husband’s Mars was, ironically, the same degree as Donald’s. But unfortunately for me he didn’t have Donald’s kind of money. (: Although, my husband did have me, so I guess he was “wealthy” in some respects. 🙂

“Broad paths are open to every endeavor, and a sympathetic recognition is assured to everyone who consecrates his art to the divine services of a conviction of consciousness.” Franz Liszt
It’s that time of the month again, with the Moon stationed in glamorous, “Hollywood Hills” Leo, when we must dutifully ascend the theater stairwell and take our rightful place, center-stage, beside leading man, George Clooney. It’s, of course, a thankless job, but hey, somebody has to do it! 🙂
Yes, the Moon in “entertainment” Leo paves the way for us to be a “shining star” today in our own real-life dramas. The colorful Leo Moon is naturally upbeat and creative, authoritative, and self-confident, and generally imbues us with more of a desire to “make a big splash” and “receive recognition” for the things that we do.
Too, the Moon’s winning trine to energizer Mars in “pioneering” Aries (1:54 pm EDT) helps to fill us with loads of passion and daring. This aspect is also favorable for sports and exercise.
Later, the Moon’s sextile to “stabilizing” Saturn in partnership Libra may help to anchor our relationships (10:28 pm EDT), and can inspire us to make commitments (Saturn). Saturn governs the “urge for security.”

In The News: Japan’s nuclear safety agency raised the severity level of the crisis at the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant today to a 7 – the highest level on an international scale, bringing the crisis on par with the 1986 Chernobyl disaster. Astrologically, we still have Mars involved in a tight square to Pluto (this influence was exact late yesterday). Pluto rules radiation and nuclear power. (Also, on the shadow side, Pluto can denote crisis situations and turning points.)
Mars, of course, tends to act as a catalyst for events, especially in an “initiating” sign like Aries which it rules. (The “square” aspect also tends to “force matters.”) Again, our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Japan. Such a tragedy.

“Life’s challenges are not suppose to paralyze you, they’re suppose to help you discover who you are.”Bernice Johnson Reagon
Mixed bag of nuts today. We have the potent “Mars square Pluto” aspect exact (4:36 pm EDT). This influence has been applying for the last several days. Mars, ruler of our self-assertion and drive, can passionately empower us to take on formidable challenges, when aligned with intense, controlling Pluto. Mars-Pluto is perennially linked with wanting to wield power and influence in the world. (Oprah Winfrey has this aspect in her personal horoscope.)
We need to make sure, however, that we don’t overtax ourselves or surpass our limits with this influence. Too, we would be very wise to avoid power struggles, shoving matches, taunting behavior, etc. On the shadow side, Mars-Pluto can awaken and unleash our “inner bully.”
Mars-Pluto can also be “very transforming” energy, with Pluto ruling regeneration. Again, as I mentioned the other day in my blog on Pluto stationing retrograde, this is an excellent time to “wipe the slate clean” and to purge or eliminate what isn’t working in our lives.
Retrograde Mercury, ruler of our thoughts, is also back into an exact conjunction with “optimistic” Jupiter (11:59 pm EDT), ruler of philosophy and our higher beliefs and vision, academia, long-distance travel. On the plus side, the Mercury-Jupiter influence can make us more enthusiastic and upbeat, more high-minded in our thinking (a nice antidote for the Mars-Pluto “bully” mentality). Mercury-Jupiter is also an excellent time for writing.
The shadow side of this same aspect is we can become too boastful or arrogant (Jupiter). Too, with the Mars-Pluto aspect as a backdrop, this is probably not a good time to get into arguments over philosophical (Jupiter) differences, as they could very well escalate. Also, if we have any public presentations or speeches (Mercury) to make, we will want to make sure that we have “all the facts” straight ahead of time (Mercury-Jupiter tends to exaggerate), in case we later get “called on the carpet” (stickler Pluto). However, if we do diligently cover our bases, we could be very compelling and persuasive as a speaker (or writer) now, especially if we sprinkle in some of the famous “Jupiterian” humor.
BTW, do you think you have a good sense of humor? May want to check out the positioning of Jupiter in your chart and see how it’s linked up to the personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus or Mars; or the Ascendant; or 3rd or 9th houses) for further astrological insight and confirmation. We mentioned Oprah Winfrey earlier, she also has her Mercury (communication) trine Jupiter in her horoscope, so she has no problem seeing humor in things. Too, that endows her with natural ability to make people laugh. (Mercury-Jupiter is also the hallmark of a teacher or preacher.) Comedian David Letterman (who has a birthday tomorrow) also has his Mercury exactly trine his natal Jupiter. David is also a writer and that is excellent for that outlet. Funny man, and also writer, Woody Allen has his Sun conjunct Jupiter, a similar influence-type influence, as does actor James Garner.
“A sense of humor… is needed armor. Joy in one’s heart and some laughter on one’s lips is a sign that the person down deep has a pretty good grasp of life.”Hugh Sidey

In the News: With the potent “game-changing” Mars-Pluto aspect exact today one of the news headlines this morning is about President Obama’s press conference that is slated for this Wednesday. Obama will be unveiling his package of proposed spending cuts for the future, including proposed cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, and changes to Social Security, in a bid to tackle this nation’s deficit crisis (Pluto rules debt). Higher taxes (ruled by Pluto) are also reportedly going to be proposed for the wealthy (Wall Street Journal).

“Sometimes you have to let everything go – purge yourself if you are unhappy with anything…whatever is bringing you down, get rid of it. Because you’ll find that when you’re free, your true creativity, your true self comes out.”Tina Turner
Well, we would probably be very wise to heed Tina Turner’s advice today and consider eliminating “what isn’t working for us” now, as “bulldozing” Pluto, associated with death and rebirth, stations retrograde in “structural” Capricorn, the sign of business, career, and government. Pluto will stay retrograde until mid-September.
Purge, reform, renew, recycle, makeover, transform, de-clutter. These are all Pluto keywords and, again, they are all descriptive of the types of activities that we may want to consciously engage in now in a bid to “liberate” our true self. (Also, we need to pay attention to the house that Pluto is retrograding in, in our personal horoscopes, for more of a frame of reference regarding where the purging or renewing may be taking place for us on an individual level.)
Too, often around the time that a planet stations retrograde, is when we really glean the “real gist” of the cycle on an internal level. We may also simultaneously see “telling” things happening in the collective that reinforce these Pluto themes home to us now.
Also, this time around we have energizer Mars in “new beginnings” Aries applying to a potent square to Pluto (this aspect will be exact on Monday). Mars square Pluto can denote a time of intense, sustained effort that can really reconfigure the playing field around us. It is a time when we can notably get ahead, if we seriously apply ourselves. Pluto is very concentrated, focused energy and with enterprising Mars beaming down on it, this ‘focus” is potentially magnified or strengthened.
On the shadow side, this very same Mars-Pluto aspect can sometimes backfire for us and have very negative or destructive consequences, if we are acting too much on the level of ego (bereft of conscience), and are too controlling or forceful (Pluto) with respect to pushing our agendas at all cost, even in the face of mighty resistance.
We probably need to be reminded again, too, that Pluto does rule “the underworld.” It can also indicate “extremism” and extremist groups or factions, including terrorist elements. As I am writing this blog this morning, a top news headline is about a police search for a 61-year-old homeless man who is allegedly wanted in connection with the bombing of a synagogue on Thursday in Santa Monica, California. Suffice it to say, Pluto also rules bombs and explosive devices.
Pluto also rules “turning points” and with Mars in sports-ruling Aries (again the Mars-Pluto square), we saw baseball player, Manny Ramirez, suddenly retire yesterday after allegedly and reportedly failing a drug test in spring training. (Pluto’s activated ray often brings about “transparency,” it shines a spotlight on activities that have previously been hidden.) We are also awaiting a verdict in the Barry Bonds‘ perjury trial now.
On a more positive note, a shutdown of the U.S. government was also averted late last night as Democrats and Republicans finally agreed to a budget deal. Pluto rules debt and red ink and is stationed in governmental Capricorn. All week, we have heard graphic reports, too, of what a “scaled-down” (Pluto) U.S. government would look like. Also, this week, House Republican, Paul Ryan, who chairs the House Budget Committee, unveiled his own budget blueprint for a massive downsizing of the U.S. government that would also reportedly abolish Medicare and “gut” (Pluto) Medicaid. (Extremist Pluto at work?)

“Bad human communication leaves us less room to grow.” Rowan D. Williams
The pace of life notably quickens today as the Moon vacates steady Taurus for restless Gemini (7:22 am EDT), the chatty sign of communication. A time when we are more apt to want to articulate our feelings (Moon) and to also want to make “small talk,” and to kid around. The Gemini Moon is normally a period when we heartily enjoy sharing our ready stash of “one-liners.”
(Here’s one: “The man bought his wife a water bed. She calls it the “‘Dead Sea!'”)
As soon as the Moon enters Gemini, she forms a tight square to psychedelic Neptune in dreamy Pisces (7:32 am EDT), so it could be that our early morning communications are a little “spacey,” or somewhat weird or distorted (more chance of some confusion). Although Moon-Neptune does turn the volume up really high on our creative imagination and pleasure-laden fantasies. Soon afterward we also have a chance to showcase our originality, even our genius, when Luna makes an opportunity sextile to liberating, inventive Uranus in adventurous Aries (10:19 am EDT).
Another lunar highlight of the day is the Moon’s buoyant sextile to energizer Mars in Aries (3:56 pm EDT), a time when we will want to be fully engaging both our minds (Gemini) and our bodies (Aries) in things we enjoy. The Moon-Mars link also incites our competitive instincts.
Additionally, we have relationship Venus in idealistic, caring Pisces forming an awkward 150-degree aspect (quinqunx) to hard-liner Saturn in Venus-ruled matrimonial Libra. It could be that we are feeling somewhat uncomfortable or victimized (Pisces) by the demands (Saturn) that others (Libra) are placing on us now. We may need to reach some kind of compromise to preserve the peace (Libra).
Interestingly enough, the “compromising” sign of Libra also rules the U.S. Congress and today things are down to the wire with respect to needing to reach some kind of agreement regarding the federal budget, otherwise ‘nonessential” services of the U.S. govt will be shutting down. Of course, too, Pluto (ruling debt) is getting ready to station retrograde in governmental Capricorn (exact early Saturday EDT), another force at play here. We are also being fed media reports on how a “scaled-down” (purging Pluto) U.S. government would operate. On the other hand, with Sun conjunct “feel good” Jupiter yesterday, the U.S. stock market reached a two-year high. Go figure.
Famous Birthdays April 7:David Frost (72), James Garner (83). This astrologer has had a major, life-long crush on James Garner. It started when I was a child and used to watch him in the hit TV series “Maverick.” Then, later, I watched him in the “Rockford Files.” I always wanted to meet a man like James, but never did. BTW, James Garner was born with the Sun exactly conjunct Jupiter in Aries, the same expansive aspect that we just had yesterday and that I also blogged about. Can’t believe it, James is 83! Hope it’s a good one, Jim. Love ya!

“If we’re growing, we’re always going to be out of our comfort zone.” John Maxwell
“Expansion” is the keyword for us today, as the powerhouse Sun annually conjoins Jupiter (10:41 am EDT), the largest planet in our solar system associated with”growth and opportunity.” With Sun-Jupiter, we tend to “think big.” We also are more inclined to look at the “bigger picture.” Psychologically, we don’t want to be confined or hemmed in any way now. We also tend to have more faith that things will “work out,” as long as we hold on to the dream.
Astrology refers to Jupiter as the “planet of luck” or “abundance.” It does, too, often seem to correlate with prosperity or an “easing” of circumstances. Traditionally, Jupiter has been described as having a more “protective” quality to it. Jupiter is also linked with faith, optimism (“can do spirit”), and our own sense of humor. Too, a case could be made that when we are more optimistic and positive (Jupiter), we often attract more positive things to us i.e. the “law of attraction.”
So, with Sun-Jupiter today, we should do things that help to broaden our scope of influence and make us feel that we are growing versus stagnating. It’s definitely a time to “get out of our comfort zone” (referring to the John Maxwell quote above) and do something “grand.” (Jupiter). This Sun-Jupiter conjunction is also occurring in “initiating” Aries, the adventurous sign of “new beginnings.”
Fascinatingly, a quick peak back into history also shows that the very last time the Sun and Jupiter had their meetup in pioneering Aries, “Nunavut,” an Inuit homeland, was created from the eastern portion of the Northwest Territories to become Canada’s third territory (April 1, 1999). So, Canada literally “grew” in scope with Sun conjunct Jupiter. Isn’t that cool? Also back on that date, both the Sun and Jupiter were exactly trine to transforming Pluto in visionary Sagittarius (ruled by Jupiter), which was also a good time to symbolically “restructure” (Pluto) things.
The “shadow side” of Sun-Jupiter: We need to be careful that we are not too wasteful or extravagant with our resources. That we don’t “over-commit” or “over-promise.” We also need to guard against “over-indulgence.”
