COSMIC WATCH:

Makeovers can be exciting and invigorating. They can also be an ideal way to sustain our existences over time, as they inevitably help us to step outside of our comfort zones and experience or witness old elements in a brand-new light. Including often allowing us to view ourselves with renewed fascination and interest. And, as our perceptions are stretched or altered, we unwittingly end up sowing the seeds of our own growth or evolution.

With transformational Pluto, the official “makeover guru,” stationing direct in Capricorn today (1:07 am) after a five-month retrograde (review) phase, we seem to have cosmic approval to outwardly re-define or re-invent ourselves in healthy new ways that potentially allow for the fullest expression of our authentic self. Pluto archetypically represents what is essentially our raw essence, or what is often submerged or buried within us at the core levels of our being.

As is typically the case with purging Pluto’s activated ray, we may also have more of a passion now to divest ourselves of any elements that are outworn, dishonest, or redundant. Too, ideally better able to stand and flourish surrounded simply by our own truth, instead of being led by dictates formulated by others.

Luna is also entering Pluto-ruled Scorpio today (10:46 am) where it will join galvanizing Mars on Wednesday. The very same day that radical Uranus is making yet another exact square aspect to game-shifting Pluto.

COSMIC WATCH:

Mars, the planet of motivation, aligns with optimistic, expansive Jupiter and transformational Pluto today. For many of us, this may translate into an urge for an “extreme makeover” in some aspect of our lives. The desire for self-renewal is likely very keen now and may equate with our wanting to take some sort of bold, assertive action to bring it about. In some cases, too, this turnaround may come about for us without any seeming effort on our part, although if we go below the surface of things we may see that we have indeed been instrumental in bringing it about.

Simultaneously, we may also need to be more mindful and respectful of honoring other people’s boundaries now in our quest to get ahead. Otherwise, some fallout could ensue if we cross over the lines uninvited. Sometimes, on the shadow side, Mars-Pluto coincides with a clash of wills and power struggles, especially if we perceive we are being threatened or feel like we are being ignored.

In the News: Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke reportedly painted a more dismal picture of the U.S. economy to lawmakers today, alluding to a slowdown in economic activity and a continuing high unemployment rate (wsj.com)

Interestingly, Pluto rules not only debt, taxes, and other people’s monies, but also contractions and implosions. With Mars exactly squaring Pluto today, sometimes with this aspect our perception of what is “not working” or “broken” in our lives can become a major point of focus. Too, we often become much more cognizant of the need to take corrective measures to transform or overhaul things (the “rebirth” side of Pluto) under this influence. Also, Mars-Pluto, metaphorically, is often likened to a surgical procedure in that we remove what is diseased or toxic.

Since we also have Mars trining “big picture” Jupiter today, a very upbeat, visionary influence, we are reminded to keep an eye on our long-term vision now. Mars-Jupiter can be a phenomenal aspect for motivating us in a very self-confident manner, even if things around us may temporarily seem a little bleak or dissonant.

Sort of a mixed bag today. 🙂

Mars squares Pluto this afternoon (4:36 pm). Assertive Mars aligned with intense, controlling Pluto may propel us to make some power moves in a possible bid to spread our massive influence in the world. (Oprah Winfrey has this aspect in her personal horoscope.) However, a challenge for us here may be to not overtax ourselves or surpass our limits in the process.

Too, we would probably be wise to avoid power struggles, engaging in taunting behavior, etc., as sometimes Mars-Pluto can awaken or unleash our “inner bully.”

On another level, Mars-Pluto can also be very transforming with Pluto ruling regeneration. So, this might be excellent time to “wipe the slate clean” and to purge or eliminate what isn’t working in our lives.

Retrograde Mercury, ruler of our thoughts, is also back into an exact conjunction with optimistic Jupiter (11:59 pm), ruler of philosophy and our higher beliefs and vision, academia, long-distance travel.

On the plus side, the Mercury-Jupiter influence can make us more enthusiastic and upbeat, more high-minded in our thinking (a nice antidote for the Mars-Pluto “bully” mentality). Mercury-Jupiter is also an excellent time for writing. The shadow side of this same aspect is we can become too boastful or arrogant (Jupiter).

Too, with the Mars-Pluto aspect as a backdrop, this is probably not a good time to get into arguments over philosophical (Jupiter) differences, as they may escalate.

Also, if we have any public presentations or speeches (Mercury) to make, we will want to make sure that we have “all the facts” straight ahead of time (Mercury-Jupiter tends to exaggerate), in case we later get “called on the carpet” (stickler Pluto).

However, if we do diligently cover our bases, we could be very compelling and persuasive as a speaker (or writer) now, especially if we sprinkle in some of the famous “Jupiterian” humor.

In the News: With the potent “game-changing” Mars-Pluto aspect exact today one of the news headlines this morning is about President Obama’s press conference that is slated for this Wednesday. Obama will be unveiling his package of proposed spending cuts for the future, including proposed cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, and changes to Social Security, in a bid to tackle this nation’s deficit crisis (Pluto rules debt). Higher taxes (ruled by Pluto) are also reportedly going to be proposed for the wealthy (Wall Street Journal).
