“Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.” Marie Curie

A Full Moon / Lunar Eclipse in “truth-seeking” Sagittarius today (7:12 Am EDT) is a chance for us to experience what it is that we “know for sure” about our lives. It is an opportunity to sit with what “rings true for us” in the trusty chambers of our heart.

With “action-oriented” Mars squaring this super-charged lunation we may also feel called upon to put our “truth into motion” now. We may feel compelled to take a bold stand for whatever it is that we believe in. Since Mars is also in “workable, analytical” Virgo, we may be needing to get “very real” with our beliefs and see how they can practically support us in our daily lives. Mars in Virgo is excellent energy for holding us accountable in this regard. It is also helpful in our being able to discern whatever is wobbly or dubious around us.

A possible caution for us here may be to make sure that we do not ride roughshod over others’ beliefs or philosophies now, assuming arrogantly or naively that we have a sole monopoly on the truth. “The more I see, the less I know for sure.” John Lennon

Too, what we may find, in the coming days ahead, a la the keen, discriminating awareness of the Virgo Mars and also expansive Jupiter, still in “pragmatic, earthy” Taurus (Jupiter rules Sagittarius), is that some of the things we thought for sure would fly, may only still be elusive pipe-dreams, at this point. Indication that we may need to patiently revisit, once more, that glorious, illustrious drawing board to see how we can ingeniously reposition the wings on our ideas, so that they will finally be able to miraculously take flight and serve us heroically along the course of our spirit’s complicated journey through the earth plane. Full Moons allow us to eloquently empty ourselves of whatever is expired, flimsy, or no longer needed by us, for whatever reason.

“Mystical” Neptune is also stationing retrograde today, in “contemplative” Pisces (5:03 pm EDT), suggesting that we must also be willing to look inside for the answers. Be willing to still ourselves long enough so that we may clearly hear the angelic voice of our intuition (Neptune) whispering to us via the gentle ripples dancing across our soulful waters. Our night dreams (which Neptune additionally rules) may also be very revealing for us and may also help to point us in the direction that we are suppose to be going in now as part of our soul’s unique evolution. “I find out a lot about myself by sleeping. Dreams, they are who I am when I’m too tired to be me.” Jarod Kintz. Neptune will remain in retrograde motion until November 10.

“Love Goddess” Venus is also gearing up for a very rare eclipse of her own tomorrow, as she dares to boldly display her seductive brand of soothing feminine charms and dart across the face of the empowering Sun (our soul’s purpose). Venus perhaps reminding us here to let the connecting power of love, that naturally resides in each of us, to let it bravely flow unencumbered from our hearts now, so that it will joyfully light up all of our countenances, and null and void all of the darkness that potentially threatens to overtake us, if we do not persist in finding a way to come together, despite any or all of our perceived differences. “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” Martin Luther King, Jr.

We may want to make special note of where (what houses) the 14 degree Sagittarius-Gemini axis falls in our birth charts, as those are the areas of our life that are being activated now and where we may also be experiencing an “awakening of consciousness” and a “call to action.”

A Full Moon Eclipse in Sagittarius also helps to energize activities in these specific areas: publishing; philosophy; writing; higher education; religion; politics; the law; advertising and promotion; long-distance travel; and matters pertaining to other cultures.

Interestingly, with this eclipse today we are hearing details of Oprah Winfrey’s brand new “interactive book club,” which should, no doubt, be very welcome news for the publishing industry and also for fans of Oprah’s who are readers. Today’s eclipse is falling in Oprah’s 12th house of reflection and transcendence and it is exactly opposite her natal Jupiter in communicator Gemini, in her sixth house of work and service. Jupiter is the ruler of Sagittarius and is also the planet that governs teaching and publishing. Oprah, an Aquarian Sun, also has her lovable Venus exactly conjunct the Sun, like we have now. Her natal Moon is also in Sagittarius and she has a late degree Sagittarius rising. A natural teacher. Oprah has announced that her first book for the new club will be Cheryl Stayed’s Wild. We wish Oprah much luck with this latest endeavor, not that she probably needs it.

What do you “know for sure” about your life? About existence? How have you arrived at these truths? How might you also share your own abundant wisdom now with the rest of the world, and what might be the impact of your revealing your own truth to others? How might you also help others to express or show what is in their heart? If you could have a heart-to-heart conversation with Venus now, what might you specifically like her to weigh in on regarding your life? What have you also maybe learned about life and love that you would especially like to share with her? 🙂

Happy Eclipse blessings to you!

“Life has its own hidden forces which you can only discover by living.” Soren Kierkegaard

There’s a Full Moon at 26 degrees of Scorpio today (7:10 am EDT). Briefly, a Full Moon represents a culmination or peaking of awareness. With a Full Moon we are often more privy to revelations, as we have “more light” by which to see things. The volume on our emotional responses (Moon) may also be turned up.

Scorpio, as a quality of experience, is associated with intensity of expression, and also extremes of behavior. It is a more complex sign to figure out. The natural ruler of Scorpio is Pluto, which is known for its’ laser-like focus. When the Moon is in Scorpio, there is a greater depth of feeling and passion to us, and consequently we tend to react more powerfully to matters. Unfortunately, emotional outbursts can also manifest, if we are not careful to rein ourselves in. The Scorpio Moon additionally likes power and to be in charge, which means on the shadow side, we often need to simultaneously subdue our feelings of control or manipulation. Jealousy and possessiveness are also two other issues that many of us characteristically wrestle with when the Moon is deposited here.

Scorpio as a zodiacal sign stands guard over those areas of life that are normally hidden from view, such as our mind’s subconscious. It also governs intimacy and sex, or what is often expressed privately “behind closed doors.” Scorpio, as the opposite sign to money and possession Taurus, additionally depicts our attitudes concerning the sharing of our material resources with others, and is related to such mundane things as joint bank accounts and jointly-held possessions.

Since Scorpio presides over death (or the dissolution of form) and rebirth, it is also connected to insurance and estate matters. It also rules taxes, surgery, and regenerative healing techniques. Scorpio is furthermore linked to psychic development, channeling, and the spirit world, and to metaphysical matters in general. Its intrinsic approach is always to “go deep” and ponder mysteries wherever they may be found.

With the Full Moon falling in Scorpio, it could be that some or many of the areas above may be more highlighted now. We are also more likely to be in touch with our deepest, most passionate desires (Scorpio) or innermost feelings at this time. We may also have to address issues from our buried past (with Scorpio they often suddenly rise to the surface). Or possibly face the truth about things that we have been avoiding. Again, too, the Scorpio Full Moon can easily solicit overreactions from us, especially if we are not mindful of our behavior.

Too, the Full Moon now could mark transitions or endings, or pivotal turning points (Scorpio). This Scorpio Full Moon is also making a challenging square to vague, dissolving Neptune in surrendering Pisces. It is additionally forming a tight quinqunx (adjustment aspect) to excessive, boastful Jupiter in impulsive Aries (sign of the military), cautioning us not to go overboard or gamble unwisely with our resources. Also, with Neptune’s “veiled ray” on the scene, we may need to guard against being hoodwinked or misled by others. We also would be wise, ourselves, to avoid doing anything that is nefarious or deceitful. Sometimes, too, with Neptune, we unwittingly lead others on by not being in full possession of all the facts. We simply spew out misinformation or just perceive things in a distorted way.

On a more positive note, this lunation still finds Mercury (thoughts) and Venus (beauty and love) side by side in gentle, laid-back Taurus, a very creative sign, and both in a harmonious, compassionate sextile to imaginative Neptune. Taking the time to put into words, our deep love and affection for each other, and engaging in random acts of love and kindness (Neptune), can have very uplifting consequences for all of us now. Also, this aspect is excellent for creating or purchasing art or other objects of beauty, including adding a few “to die for” items to our wardrobe. Too, with the rejuvenating properties of the Scorpio Moon also involved, now would be an ideal time for age-defying beauty treatments or makeovers. Neptune also rules cosmetics, and all manner of masquerade and disguises. It is interesting, too, how when we do alter our outward appearance, we often are related to differently.  In other words, it sets the stage for transforming responses from others.

“Men and women belong to different species, and communication between them is a science still in its infancy.” Bill Cosby 🙂

BTW, I read the other day that Oprah Winfrey (who has facilitated many personal makeovers through her show) plans to tape her talks shows for airing May 23rd and May 24th, on May 17th, at a special arena in Chicago, which will be able to hold over 20,000 of her fans. As an astrologer, of course, I immediately thought about the intensely emotional Scorpio Full Moon in affect and its fitting tie-in with poignant, transforming events, including farewells (endings). Too, with Mercury conjunct Venus in Taurus sextile idealistic, otherworldly Neptune (Neptune also rules the television camera), no doubt that Oprah will be magically “feeling the love” then from her audience and also the camera will be able to masterfully capturing the surreal (Neptune) images of this singular event.

As most of us know who faithfully watch Oprah, she is signing off with her daily syndicated talk show on May 25th, after being on the air for 25 years. She will still be actively involved with broadcasting, however, running her OWN network. Oprah has “Karma Lord” Saturn in Libra transiting at the very top of her chart now, near her tenth house of career. Often a time when one’s highest professional achievement is recorded.

Too, on May 25th, again the last day for the Oprah Show, the Sun will also fascinatingly be in communications Gemini and exactly sextile to futuristic Uranus in new beginnings Aries, signaling that some “big change is in the air.” Uranus also rules television broadcasting. The Sun-Uranus aspect also tends to coincide with more “unusual” or “out of the ordinary” (Uranus) events, and May 25th will, no doubt, go down in broadcast history as the day Oprah officially ended her talk show.  The Moon will also be in reflective, sentimental Pisces that day. We wish Oprah all the best, but at the same time, we will miss her daily show. Afternoons will no longer be the same without her beaming, re-assuring presence lighting up the television screen.

Astrology April 13, 2011: “The Sky’s The Limit” Six Planets in Fire Element

COSMIC WEATHER:

“As long as you are going to be thinking anyway, think big.” Donald Trump

With the emotional Moon in glamorous, “larger than life” Leo today and five planets in enthusiastic, “originating” Aries, we have a total of six planets in the active fire element now, which is a lot of “inspiring” energy at our disposal.  Mental Mercury (retrograde), governing our thoughts and ideas, is also still in a two-degree conjunction with expansive Jupiter, which again encourages us to “think big.”

The  proud, creative Leo Moon is also making positive, dynamic aspects to both the Sun (spirit) and Jupiter (growth) in Aries. So this is definitely a day when we have cosmic clearance to go at things “full throttle.” (Of course, we may also need to do some “revising,” later, with Mercury still retrograde.)

BTW, billionaire Donald Trump, quoted above (b. 6/14/46), has a 29 degree, “authoritative, take-charge” Leo Rising or Ascendant (the Asc. is how others view us and it also governs physical appearance and Donald, of course, has the “big” Leo hair). Donald’s energizing Mars at 26 degrees Leo powerfully conjuncts his Rising. Mars in Leo on the Ascendant is a very strong “executive” placement. Mars, ruling the aggressive urge, is also the natural ruler of  Aries, so we see a real “Aries flavor” to Donald even though he does not have any planets in Aries. The “‘Martian” Aries-type energy, too, is very conquest-oriented and driven (again this is the kind of energy that we currently have beaming impacting us with the lineup in Aries).

The Leo rising also helps to endow Donald with great self-confidence and a deep sense of his own power (Leo i.e. “lion of the jungle”). Too, his chart reveals a tendency to be a big thinker, by nature, with “gargantuan” Jupiter conjunct his third house of the mind in intellectual Libra (also this placement makes him love beautiful things). This 3rd house placement of Jupiter is also similar is nature to the “Mercury conjunct Jupiter” aspect that we currently have today.

Donald’s Jupiter is also harmoniously trined to both his Sun and Uranus, which are conjunct in versatile Gemini in his career house, which makes him more entrepreneurial, promotion-minded (esp. in sales-oriented Gemini), as well as highly original, particularly with respect to his professional pursuits. The Sun-Uranus aspect can also give him a predilection to side with the underdog at times. He is also not afraid to defy convention (Uranus) in his quest to live authentically (Charlie Sheen also has Sun conjunct Uranus). Sun-Uranus may also incline him (and Charlie) to be more unpredictable at times. The last thing, too, that Sun-Uranus wants to be is “homogenized.” Additionally, Donald’s Moon is in visionary, Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius (like Oprah Winfrey).

Of course, the big question regarding Donald Trump now, is whether he is going to run for U.S. President? While astrology is not fortune-telling and it doesn’t predict the future, curiously, Jupiter, the planet of politics, will be in his 10th house of career in 2012. He also has reportedly said that he would decide the matter, this June, his birthday month, a time when pioneering Mars will be entering his career house (it enters it mid-June). Mars through the tenth house can be a highly ambitious time, and a time for “new professional starts.” The plot thickens!

Would you vote for Donald Trump for President? Yes? No? What about if he got a different-style haircut? Did away with that big Leo hair? Would that affect your decision any? 🙂 I personally like Donald because he is different and charismatic. His Mars is also exactly conjunct my 26 degree Moon in Leo, so emotionally he tends to energize me. My late husband’s Mars was, ironically, the same degree as Donald’s. But unfortunately for me he didn’t have Donald’s kind of money. (: Although, my husband did have me, so I guess he was “wealthy” in some respects. 🙂

COSMIC WEATHER:

“Life’s challenges are not suppose to paralyze you, they’re suppose to help you discover who you are.” Bernice Johnson Reagon

Mixed bag of nuts today. We have the potent “Mars square Pluto” aspect exact (4:36 pm EDT). This influence has been applying for the last several days. Mars, ruler of our self-assertion and drive, can passionately empower us to take on formidable challenges, when aligned with intense, controlling Pluto. Mars-Pluto is perennially linked with wanting to wield power and influence in the world. (Oprah Winfrey has this aspect exact in her personal horoscope.) We need to make sure, however, that we don’t overtax ourselves or surpass our limits with this aspect. Too, we would be very wise to avoid power struggles, shoving matches, taunting behavior, etc. On the shadow side, Mars-Pluto can awaken and unleash our “inner bully.”

Mars-Pluto can also be “very transforming” energy, with Pluto ruling regeneration. Again, as I mentioned the other day in my blog on Pluto stationing retrograde, this is an excellent time to “wipe the slate clean” and  to purge or eliminate what isn’t working in our lives.

Retrograde Mercury, ruler of our thoughts, is also back into an exact conjunction with “optimistic” Jupiter (11:59 pm EDT), ruler of philosophy and our higher beliefs and vision, academia, long-distance travel. On the plus side, the Mercury-Jupiter influence can make us more enthusiastic and upbeat, more high-minded in our thinking (a nice antidote for the Mars-Pluto “bully” mentality). Mercury-Jupiter is also an excellent time for writing.

The shadow side of this same aspect is we can become too boastful or arrogant (Jupiter). Too, with the Mars-Pluto aspect as a backdrop, this is probably not a good time to get into arguments over philosophical (Jupiter) differences, as they could very well escalate. Also, if we have any public presentations or speeches (Mercury) to make, we will want to make sure that we have “all the facts” straight ahead of time (Mercury-Jupiter tends to exaggerate), in case we later get “called on the carpet” (stickler Pluto). However, if we do diligently cover our bases, we could be very compelling and persuasive as a speaker (or writer) now, especially if we sprinkle in some of the famous “Jupiterian” humor.

BTW, do you think you have a good sense of humor? May want to check out the positioning of Jupiter in your chart and see how it’s linked up to the personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus or Mars; or the Ascendant; or 3rd or 9th houses) for further astrological insight and confirmation. We mentioned Oprah Winfrey earlier, she also has her Mercury (communication) trine Jupiter in her horoscope, so she has no problem seeing humor in things. Too, that endows her with natural ability to make people laugh. (Mercury-Jupiter is also the hallmark of a teacher or preacher.) Comedian David Letterman (who has a birthday tomorrow) also has his Mercury exactly trine his natal Jupiter. David is also a writer and that is excellent for that outlet. Funny man, and also writer, Woody Allen, has his Sun conjunct Jupiter, a similar influence-type influence, as does James Garner, who I have always regarded as very funny.)

“A sense of humor… is needed armor. Joy in one’s heart and some laughter on one’s lips is a sign that the person down deep has a pretty good grasp of life.” Hugh Sidey

Famous Birthdays April 11: Ethel Kennedy (83), Joel Grey (79)

In the News: With the potent “game-changing” Mars-Pluto aspect exact today, fascinatingly, one of the news headlines this morning is about President Obama’s big “press conference” that is slated for this Wednesday. Obama will be unveiling his package of proposed spending cuts for the future, including proposed cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, and changes to Social Security, in a bid to tackle this nation’s deficit crisis (Pluto rules debt). Higher taxes (ruled by Pluto) are also reportedly going to be proposed for the wealthy. (Wall Street Journal)

In announcing the details of his press conference, President Obama is also effectively “transforming” his image (the “reforming” Mars-Pluto energy) to a certain extent, by letting it be known that he is planning on shifting his policies around. Sometimes, too, with Mars-Pluto, we also suffer a “fierce backlash.” Surely there will be factions (the far left? the elderly?) who will not be pleased with his proposals.
