Cosmic Weather:

Mercury is finally stationing direct (at 2:11 pm) today, after, what seems, for many of us, to have been an exceptionally long, 3-week retrograde period in intense, crisis-laden Scorpio, the sign of transformation or turning points. Mercury, which governs our thinking or thought processes, communication, and learning, as well as travel and transportation, is going direct at 11 degrees of Scorpio (it will remain in its shadow phase until December 7th).

Too, a note of caution here: even though Mercury is turning direct, we’re still not quite out of the tunnel yet!  We really need to give the Winged Messenger, at least a few more days, to get re-oriented again (in its direct motion), before moving forward with our plans, or making any major decisions. Generally, this is because, whenever a planet stations, a symbolic spotlight is put on the functions of that planet, and all that extra attention or fanfare can make it harder for us to get a clearer, or more objective handle, on the things associated with that heavenly body.

So, for example, with intellectual Mercury involved here, it’s possible that our thinking or ideas could be a bit skewed, in some way, now. Or, for instance, we also may have a more difficult time turning off our thoughts today – or possibly we may be overthinking things – especially in obsessive, one-track-minded Scorpio!

Too, turning inward and meditating today – connecting with that well of inner stillness – can be a positive and very good way to ground or balance ourselves now, so we feel more of a sense of inner peace or knowingness, our inner wisdom. Journaling might also be a very good thing to do, as a way of capturing what may have come up for us, during Mercury’s retrograde phase, or all that is coming up for us now, in the way of insights, ideas, messages from the deeper, or more intuitive levels, of our being.

We also have motivator Mars, the planet of assertion (in its first full day in its home turf of Scorpio), involved in a minor aspect (sesquiquadrate) with foggy Neptune in Pisces, which can be, on the shadow side, mildly disorienting, in the sense that it may sort of make us feel that it’s harder for us to act upon (Mars) our dreams (Neptune) effectively now, possibly because the path to realizing them just doesn’t appear all that clear, or really feel right to us (also a sign not to act upon them now!) Another possibility is we could, perhaps, feel immersed in a dream or fantasy that we just don’t want to let go of, for whatever reason. Or, it could be that we also have a nocturnal dream now that is very powerful for us, in some way, on an emotional level, that may also be wise for us to reflect upon, as it could be that this dream is offering us a special kind of guidance for our lives. A lot of times, dreams are important harbingers or indicators of our future.

Too, nurturing Luna is in tinkering Virgo, an earth sign, all day, so becoming involved in tangible activities that allow us to feel purposeful or useful, or that help us to maybe perfect a craft or a skill, can be very supportive or rejuvenating for us now. Included here, we may also want to spend some time tidying or straightening up our households. Sometimes, just organizing/decluttering the space around us can go a long way in making us feel more in control, more in charge, of our personal worlds.

“What I know for sure is that when you declutter – whether it’s on your home, your head, or your heart – it is astounding what will flow into that space that will enrich you, your life, and your family.” Peter Walsh

Calvin Coolidge becomes 30th US President on August 3, daily astrology, daily horoscope, getting organized, infrastructure, Moon in Virgo, numerology

Cosmic Weather:

With the Waxing Moon in organizing, corrective Virgo today, it’s an excellent time to take a step back and critique where and how we have been employing our energies, as of late. And, accordingly, to evaluate how we may be able to more effectively streamline our affairs in order to maximize our chances for success in the future.

Coming to our aid here, we also have Luna trining “no frills” Saturn, this morning (10:02 am), potentially allowing us to capitalize or build upon our wisdom and experience in a very pragmatic way. Moon-Saturn can also make us more aware of the finite nature of time (which Saturn rules) and the importance of not wasting our time as well as our resources.

Later, Lady Luna also throws a potent trine to transformational Pluto (7:34 pm), which may inspire us to consider or at least ponder, making some sweeping changes to our life, especially in areas where we may be stuck. Moon-Pluto aspects are also excellent for generating deep emotional insights that can be very healing.

Today is also a “3 day”, numerologically, so our creative juices are flowing, bubbling over.

“We have to continually be jumping off cliffs and developing our wings on the way down.” Kurt Vonnegut

*All times EDT

On This Day in History: On August 3, 1923, Vice President Calvin Coolidge (b. July 4, 1872) becomes the 30th US President upon the death of Warren G. Harding (who died the day before).

Astrologically, in the sky then, pioneering Mars was separating (one degree) from an exact conjunction to the empowering Sun in leadership Leo. Mars-Sun aspects often signal or bring about changes in rulership or authority. The Sun, at 10 degrees of Leo, was also exactly square to expansive Jupiter (the ruler of politicians), at 10 degrees of transitioning Scorpio.

“Don’t you know that four-fifths of all our troubles in this life would disappear if we would just sit down and keep still?” Calvin Coolidge

Cosmic Weather:

Waxing Moon is in Leo, shifting into Virgo at 5:44 pm

Moon squares Venus in Taurus at 5:23 pm

Venus Enters Gemini at 9:36 pm. Venus will stay in Gemini until July 3rd.

*All Times EDT

This Saturday, with the Waxing Moon in fun-loving Leo, during the day, and squaring indulgent Venus in Taurus, partaking in pleasurable activities now appears to be a good formula for racheting up our inner feelings of well-being. H. Jackson Brown, Jr., the author of Life’s Little Instruction Book advises that we should, “Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures.” To which the Leo Moon and Venus in Taurus might also add: “And don’t forget to bring along the checkbook!”

Later, the Moon’s shift into tidy Virgo (where it will stay for the next two and a half days), is a prime opportunity for us to become better organized, and a time when many of us will likely (albeit, perhaps reluctantly) trade in the (Leo) “big hair” for a “Brillo pad.” The Virgo Moon is also an excellent period for tinkering with things, perfecting our craft, as well as turning over our “honey-do” list to our partners for (keeping fingers crossed) rapid fulfillment.

Finally, sweet Venus flits into breezy, flirtatious Gemini, later tonight. Venus (governing love, money, values) is very lighthearted – maybe even a bit lightheaded, at times – in the dizzying air sign of Gemini, where variety in relationships, with recreational pastimes, art, beauty, fashion is definitely an elixir. Venus in Gemini’s emotions are on a more mental than feeling level; there is also often a need for friendship within a love relationship when Venus is deposited in this sign.

“A girl can wait for the right man to come along but in the meantime that doesn’t mean she can’t have a wonderful time with all the wrong ones.” Cher

(Born 5/20/46, Cher has her Venus at 25 degrees of Gemini and in a wide conjunction to unconventional Uranus in her behind-the-scenes, 12th House.)

Question for Today: How would you respond to Tina Turner’s “What’s love got to do with it?”

On This Day in History: On June 8, 1789, James Madison introduces a proposed Bill of Rights in the US House of Representatives.

The Astrology that day: There was a nearly exact Grand Air Trine involving the empowering Sun conjunct harmony-seeking Venus (in contractually-oriented Gemini), transforming Pluto (in humanitarian Aquarius), and unifying Neptune (in judicial, balancing Libra). The Moon was also in idealistic, philosophical Sagittarius and in its Full Phase.

Famous June 8 Birthdays: Frank Lloyd Wright, Barbara Bush, Jerry Stiller, Joan Rivers, Nancy Sinatra, Julianna Margulies, Gabrielle (Gabby) Giffords

“I don’t exercise. If God had wanted me to bend over, he would have put diamonds on the floor.” Joan Rivers

Cosmic Weather:

“The time we lose is not in overdoing what we are about, but in doing nothing.” William Hazlitt

With fun-loving Venus in boundaryless Pisces forming a square to over-sizing Jupiter in enthusiastic Sagittarius today, it’s easy to get swept away in the current of whatever it is that we’re pursuing for pleasure or enjoyment now (relationships/love/money/dreams/beliefs). Not that that’s necessarily a bad thing, by any means…

Of course, on the other hand, as many of us know, too much of a good thing can quickly morph into something that is ‘not-so-good’ for us, depending on what we’re doing or what’s at stake. In other words, it’s always wise to put things into their proper context.

Anyway, discerning when and where to draw that merry little line or distinction with respect to the parameters of our behavior, is, seemingly, part of our captivating cosmic assignment for this Monday, April 15th. Tax Day in the U.S.

“Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer. Go some distance away because then the work appears smaller and more of it can be taken in at a glance and a lack of harmony and proportion is more readily seen.” Leonardo da Vinci

On This Day in History: On April 15, 1912, the Titanic sank off the Newfoundland coast as the band played on. More than 1,500 people lost their lives in the world’s most tragic and infamous maritime tragedy.

Astrologically, in the sky that day, Neptune, the ruler of the sea, was in the water sign of Cancer and exactly square to the Lunar Nodes (NN in Aries, SN in Libra).

“In April, God speaks to us in the seas whose rhythmic murmuring fills our ears from a long way off. It was in April that the Titanic went down into the deep to lie like a slasher’s victim, bleeding the ‘debris field’ – its’ passengers personal possessions, the everyday things of every man and every woman – across the ocean’s floor.” Eugene Kennedy

Cosmic Weather:

“Our abilities to understand, adjust, and change make us wise.” – Debashish Mridha M.D.

Moon in Virgo:

Don’t you just love to hear the phrase, “May I help who’s next?” when you’re the one who’s next in line? Especially if you’ve been waiting seemingly forever to be waited on? Anyway, today has this same kind of feel to it. Sort of like we’re having to stand in line, conduct our official business, do some revisions or rewrites with respect to our projects or plans before we’re allowed to bust out of the gate. Even then, we’re likely not going to be busting out of anything now, but rather moving ahead at more of a slow, cautious pace. The Moon is still in perfecting Virgo, and Mama Virgo is doing her thing! Committed to continuing her heroic efforts to whip us into shape! Plus, with Luna’s trine to transforming Pluto in Capricorn, later today (8:51 pm), it could be she may actually be able to work a miracle or two for us!

Moon trine Pluto favors restorations or refurbishings, decluttering, detox efforts, succession-planning, and panning for gold (both internally and externally).

Sun in Pisces semi-square Saturn in Capricorn:

This aspect kind of plays right into the hands of the corrective Virgo Moon energy to the extent that it can make us feel, on the shadow side, that we’re not good enough as we are. That we should possibly strive, instead, to conform to some kind of hallowed cultural yardstick of what is uniformly exemplary or acceptable. Of course, we don’t need to buy into this type of self-limiting or self-abnegating doctrine. Better to focus our efforts on building affirmatively upon how we already are, or how we want to be, and taking empowering action to move into that direction. “It is not as much about who you used to be, as it is about who you choose to be.” Sanhita Baruah. On another level, sometimes this planetary aspect can coincide with our having to shift course, or needing to cut our losses with something.

Sun semi-square Saturn also favors, among other things, taking preventive health measures to possibly shore up our bones or dental health. May also be a time when we re-consider or revise some of our plans for retirement.

On This Day in History: On February 20, 1962, John Glenn becomes the first American to orbit the Earth, aboard Friendship 7. Mars (pioneering) and Jupiter (expansion) were both in Aquarius, the sign which governs space travel. Analytical Mercury had also just stationed direct in research-oriented Virgo, the sign of its rulership, and was getting ready to conjunct transformative Pluto. Mercury-Pluto aspects, especially the conjunction, are often associated with deep or intense life-altering experiences that can drastically change our perceptions or consciousness about something.

“Revolutions arise from obstinacy. People are dissatisfied with what they are told and they develop new ideas.” Dirk Kurbjuweit

A big mental shift is occurring today! Intellectual Mercury rockets into progressive, innovative Aquarius, the sign of abstract-reasoning. Mercury joins the Sun, already in Aquarius, and it will stay in the sign of the water-bearer until February 10th. Mercury in Aquarius can help us to get unstuck in our thinking and perceptions as, optimally, we’re more open now to entertaining new ideas, considering alternative viewpoints, and to embracing experimentation in general. This is also an excellent time for networking or connecting with groups of people, and for forming new friendships, particularly with individuals we may not normally hang out with. “Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.” Anais Nin

Analytical Mercury is also forming a semi-square aspect to big picture Jupiter today so it may be more challenging to focus our attention on the daily grind. Fortunately, though, the Moon’s placement in laboring Virgo can help add a more stable vibe to our day. So that’s good! Later tonight, the Moon will also be departing dutiful Virgo (11:02 pm) and entering diplomatic Libra, where the finer things of life will, once again, surely be beckoning us with all their power!

Hope enjoy your day! Don’t be afraid to employ the experimental Mercury in Aquarius in your own unique way. Perhaps try on some new ideas. See how they fit. Remember, one size does not necessarily fit all!

astrology horoscope, brilliance, daily astrology, daily horoscope, intuition, Mercury square Uranus, Moon in Virgo, Nancy Pelosi cancels SOTU address, President Nixon announces accord to end Vietnam War

“It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.” Aristotle

Mercury the messenger in methodical, practical Capricorn the Goat is getting ready to wind up its stay in Capricorn, where it has been since January 5th. But, before it does that, very early tomorrow, it’s going to square Uranus in Aries today (6:13 am). Mercury and Uranus both have an affinity for one another as Uranus is considered to be the higher octave of Mercury. Uranus, as a transpersonal planet, however, is more focused on our abstract or objective perceptions, while Mercury, as one of the personal planets, tends to be more concerned with such things as speaking, communication, and general awareness itself. Uranus also governs technology.

On those days of the year when Mercury and Uranus align, our thinking is potentially more brilliant, more insightful, more original. We may be able to grasp more complex concepts that might have eluded us before. Our perceptions may be lightning-fast, peppered with sudden intuitions. The shadow side of the Mercury-Uranus square is sometimes we may feel more scattered or restless in our thinking and judgment, which can cause us to miss important details. Our nervous systems, which are ruled by Mercury, could potentially also become more highly charged now due to the more electrifying, jolting vibration of Uranus.

Today is also a test drive, of sorts, for Mercury as it will be entering Uranus-ruled Aquarius tomorrow (12:50 am), which is the sign of Mercury’s exaltation. Mercury’s favorite place to hang out!

The Moon is also in fastidious Virgo now so don’t be surprised if you feel a strong, passionate urge to tidy things up! The Moon will also trine Saturn in Capricorn tonight (8:56 pm), a very stabilizing influence that is excellent for organizing our affairs.

*All times EST.

Famous People with Mercury Square Uranus: Tim Cook, Carrie Underwood, David Letterman, Drew Carey.

Famous January 23 Birthdays: John Hancock, Edouart Manet, Chesley Sullenberger.

“All of us have to find the courage to leave the shore. That means leaving the crutch of our lifelong complaints and resentments, or our unhappiness over our upbringing or our bodies or whatever. It means no longer focusing negative energy on things beyond our control. It means looking beyond the safety of the familiar.” Chesley Sullenberger

This Date in History: On January 23, 1973, US President Richard Nixon announced an accord had been reached to end the Vietnam War. Regarding the astrology that day, expansive, philosophical Jupiter, which symbolizes higher understanding and a bigger picture point of view, was in realistic, pragmatic Capricorn, the sign of government. It was also exactly square Uranus, the planet of sudden breakthroughs and new approaches, at 23 degrees of diplomatic Libra. Negotiator Mercury had also just entered innovative Aquarius, that day.

UPDATED 1/23/19 4:30 pm: With Communicator Mercury exactly square spontaneous Uranus in Aries today, Nancy Pelosi has reportedly gone ahead and canceled the #SOTU address! A first in US history! In #astrology Mercury rules speeches, while Uranus signifies the unexpected and breaks with tradition. Mercury also represents the news media, which are all abuzz now with this unfolding story! 🙂

Hope you enjoy your day! Bask in your brilliance!

Road, Sky, Mountains, Clouds, Black

COSMIC WEATHER:

We are officially wrapping up the “first Virgo Moon period” of the new year, this morning. The Moon leaves “problem-solving” Virgo for “diplomatic” Libra, at 9:59 am. The Virgo Moon is also “void-of-course” today, so it is perhaps best to attend to, or finish up, any ongoing tasks while the Moon is still deposited in this sign. Then, when it cascades into “graceful” Libra, we are cosmically cleared to undertake new endeavors. Libra, the sign of the other, centers our attention on the relationship realm, and balancing the needs of self with the needs of others.

The Libra Moon’s only aspect today is a square, late tonight, to Venus, its planetary ruler (11:12 pm), which is presently in “traditional” Capricorn. Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn, is exalted in Libra, so really there is quite a bit of agreement or natural flow between Venus in Capricorn and the Moon in Libra, even though the square aspect can sometimes coincide with some friction, inner restlessness, or feelings of awkwardness. Generally, Moon-Venus aspects tend to bring out our social side, so if we’re still up, at this hour, we may want to be around people we like, doing things we enjoy. It may also be a time when we seriously ponder, journal, or discuss the nature of our relationships and how they are fitting in with our long-term plans or goals for our self.

“We have to recognise that there cannot be relationships unless there is commitment, unless there is loyalty, unless there is love, patience, persistence.” Cornel West

COSMIC WEATHER:

The Moon continues another day in “corrective” Virgo, ideally encouraging us to embrace a path of self-betterment. Also, it is spotlighting – via two early morning trine aspects – the ongoing “Mercury-Pluto conjunction,” a dialogue that is taking place in “serious,” Saturn-ruled Capricorn. This is, no doubt, giving way to a lot of DEEP, DEEP STUFF going on inside many of us. Mercury-Pluto, characteristically, helps us to get at the truth, on many levels.

Also, the Virgo Moon’s last aspect of the day, before turning void-of-course, is a supportive conjunction to expansive Jupiter, “the planet of abundance” (7:11 pm EST). Jupiter is also presently conjunct the “futuristic” North Node of the Moon. Possibly suggesting that this is a grand chance for us to experience a special “rendezvous with destiny!”

The Moon in “organizing” Virgo, today, helps us to get our affairs in order. It is also a very good time to be proactive about things, or to anticipate what may lie ahead. Virgo’s ruler, Mercury, is also conjunct “eliminating” Pluto, which is a green light for our ability to effectively phase out or discern what is no longer needed.

“Thank God I found the GOOD in goodbye.” Beyonce Knowles

Question for Today: What do you think makes you hold on to something that you know you should really get rid of?

Famous January 26 Birthdays: Ellen DeGeneres, Wayne Gretzky, Eddie Van Halen, Paul Newman, Douglas MacArthur

“In the beginning there was nothing. God said, ‘Let there be light!’ And there was light. There was still nothing, but you could see it a whole lot better.” Ellen DeGeneres

Enjoy your Tuesday! 🙂
