Everything originates with a dream or a vision. That’s why it’s so important, if we want to grow our world, that we intentionally work on being a possibility type thinker, an idea person, someone who is able to see beyond the present scope of things to imagine a better way, a brighter day. The Mars trine Neptune energy, that is exact today (6:43 pm), is ideal for doing this kind of envisioning because it naturally inspires us to actively (Mars) dream (Neptune) about the future, as well as encouraging us to take present day action on our dreams. Neptune symbolizes our imagination and vision, while Mars represents our desires and motivation. On another level, this Mars-Neptune energy can sensitive us more to our surroundings, as well as increase the intuitive bond that we share with the people around us.

As we all know, over-thinking things can often land us smack on the road to nowhere  – a frustrating destination that will quite obligingly dead-end our dreams and crash our hopes, if we let it. Of course, knowing when to stop thinking and when to take action on something isn’t always easy to determine, especially when our fears intervene. Today, with thinker Mercury quinqunx cautious Saturn, we may be wrestling a bit with the “what-iffing” syndrome, or given to second-guessing ourselves. Fortunately, though, the Moon’s shift into action-oriented Aries (12:37 pm) helps us to get over these self-sabotaging hurdles, so that we can begin moving forward again at a confident pace. Benjamin Disraeli once remarked that action may not always bring happiness, but that there is no happiness without action.

Every day, each of us wrestles with “hanging on or letting go” in myriad aspects of our life. While we’re not always sure which route to take here, being clear about our values and the personal vision for our life, is normally a good starting point from which to begin to wade through this process and to move on, especially if we are to be true to ourselves.  Today, with the illuminating Sun opposite purging Pluto, a once a year occurrence, we tend to be more focused upon those issues that we intuitively know we need to get rid of, that have been weighing us down, where we’ve been holding on perhaps too tightly out of fear, or out of concern of a loss of control. Writer Dan Brown, author of The Da Vinci Code, says that men go to far greater lengths to avoid what they fear than to obtain what they desire.

Although we may want other people to agree with our opinions – especially since we know we’re usually spot on in our assessment of things 🙂 – the mere fact that we can disagree on matters, is something that we should always be appreciative or grateful for, and something that we must never allow ourselves to take for granted, as we have all seen, especially recently, how insidious life can be when freedom of speech is suppressed or obliterated. Thomas Jefferson once remarked that he never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend.

Today’s Energy:

On this Fourth of July, America’s celebration of freedom, the Moon is deposited, the entire day, in diversity-oriented Aquarius. This Moon placement, while more emotionally detached, can serve to take us outside of ourselves, and our own interests, to focus on the greater interests or needs of the collective. Accordingly, it is a time when we may feel more predisposed to taking a stand on causes that are important to us, that reflect or support our values. Also this may be a period when we might just long to be with others, especially with the people who make us come alive, or who are interesting to us, for one reason or another. The Moon’s sextile to routine-buster Uranus (6:16 pm) also gives us a fascination for “what’s off the beaten path,” while the Moon’s opposition to exuberant Jupiter (9:37 pm) allows us to connect with what brings our heart joy, and delivers a palpable sense of oxygen to our spirit.

Since words are free to use, so to speak, it seems that many of us are far too casual with how we employ them. Accordingly, we often overlook or fail to grasp their inherent life-changing potential. Oliver Wendell Holmes once said that we should speak clearly, if at all, carving every word before we let it fall; in other words, to be intentional in our speech.

Today’s Energy:

Communicator Mercury, which happens to govern our speech or words, sextiles philosophical Jupiter, the planet of opportunity and optimism, this evening (8:54 pm). This upbeat (“I can do it!”) influence has a general broadening impact upon our intellect, and poises us to want to look ahead and to think big. We are also more intent on wanting to get our message out before the world now, so that we can, hopefully, wield our irresistible sphere of influence. Archetypally, Mercury-Jupiter symbolizes “the orator” or “the preacher.” Also, “the persuader,””the politician,” and “the humorist.”

Mercury-Jupiter aspects are considered favorable for publishing, marketing and advertising, higher education, signing contracts, and general legal matters. They also are associated with international or multi-cultural relations.

The Moon also leaves utilitarian Capricorn for non-conforming Aquarius today (8:21 am), giving us a perfect chance to express our holed up, “inner hippie.” 🙂

Each of us excels in storytelling, particularly the stories that we tell ourselves about ourselves, and what’s possible for our lives. Often, too, we readily accept these personal accounts as the gospel truth when, in reality, they may be closer to fiction.

Today’s Energy:

Moon conjunct Pluto, 5:55 am: Even though it’s early morning, we awake with a desire to get to the bottom of things.

Mercury sextile Uranus, 2:50 pm: Here is B-R-E-A-K-T-H-R-O-U-G-H relief fast on its way to us to confront some of those storylines in our head. This is perfect energy for precipitating mental shifts as our curiosity is more fully engaged. We naturally are more oriented toward questioning our assumptions, at this time, including questioning the unquestioned answers!

Also a great influence for meeting and conversing with new people who harbor very different views from our own, which can also serve to subtly rock our world. This aspect additionally favors dealing with any technology-related matter. This alignment will linger around for the next day or so.

Moon square Uranus, 3:58 pm: Departing from our routine, for a while, helps to recharge our batteries and makes us better appreciate what we have going on.

Moon quinqunx Mercury, 4:07 pm: Our heart and head may be at a temporary impasse. Best to think before we speak, and formulate our words clearly. Also, avoid prejudging things.

Moon sextile Chiron, 6:04 pm: There’s more finesse and sensitivity in knowing how to assuage pain or handle emotional issues.

Moon quinqunx Venus, 8:06 pm: Letting go our expectations of how others should behave, or how a situation should be, makes the present moment richer and more enjoyable.
