COSMIC WEATHER:

“Each of us seems to have a main focus, a particular idea of practicality – a concept of ‘what we want out of life’ against which we judge our experiences.” Jane Roberts

The illuminating Sun, denoting our spirit, enters earthy Taurus today (6:18 am EDT), the sign of money and possessions (where it will stay for the next month).  The Sun in Taurus imbues us with a more practical focus and greater desire for stability.

The anchoring Taurus Sun also forms an interesting sextile to dreamy Neptune in oceanic Pisces. So, it could be that we are able to manifest (Taurus) some of our dreams (Neptune) today. Too, even though the Sun is now in tangible, down-to-earth Taurus, the Sun’s soothing linkup with spiritual guru Neptune helps to provide a certain mystical or reflective quality to this day.

The Moon’s entrance into visionary Sagittarius (2:51 am EDT) also serves to sort of reiterate this “transcendent” theme. Sagittarius the Archer encourages us to “reach for the stars” and broaden our horizons through travel, philosophy, higher education, religion. Lest we forget, too, we still have four planets in fiery, adventurous Aries with Love Goddess Venus also moving into that sign tomorrow.

In the News: Perhaps fittingly, with the Sun’s sextile to Neptune bringing “sea-worthy” things to mind, we are also poignantly marking the one-year anniversary of the BP oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, the worst environmental disaster in U.S. history.

A year ago today, taskmaster Saturn at 29 degrees of Virgo (Virgo oversees the management of resources) was in a tight opposition to unpredictable Uranus at 28 degrees of Pisces (Pisces rules both the sea and oil). This opposition aspect can often be a more “disruptive” influence, especially when we do not “play by the rules (Uranus).” Saturn was also forming a challenging quinqunx aspect to confusing Neptune (the ruler of Pisces) at 28 degrees of Aquarius.

Saturn is often billed as the “Lord of Karma.” It is the planet of accountability and responsibility (it also symbolically represents the Earth). When we have more difficult Saturn influences we often experience the more challenging consequences of our actions (reaping our karma, in other words). Here in the case of the oil spill, BP has also reportedly acknowledged that serious errors were made leading up to the disaster (the ‘tried and true” Saturn protocol was not maintained).

Famous Birthdays April 20th: Ryan O’Neal (70), Jessica Lange (62). Also, my late dog, Coco (depicted below), would have been 15 years old today, so it’s kind of a sad day for me. Coco died two years ago. The latter portion of her life, she was blind, deaf and diabetic, but she never seemed to let any of that get her down. She was a real trooper (had an Aries Moon.) She was perhaps the gentlest animal I ever had. I miss her every day. Love you, Coco Puff! Your mama’s thinking about you.

Patricia’s Astrology Horoscope October 29, 2010: Dorothy In Oz

COSMIC WEATHER:

The Moon continues in “There’s No Place Like Home” Cancer making “Dorothy in Oz” one happy little munchkin. The “Cook-Happy” Cancer Moon also throws harmonious trines to “Good Witch” Jupiter (10:28 am EDT) and “Wizard” Uranus (3:49 pm EDT) in “Fantasy-Prone” Pisces, giving us an itch to perhaps add some dreamy “rainbow sherbet” to the menu, for a change of pace.

Later on, the Moon roars into “Warmhearted” Leo (8:39 pm EDT). Even the “Cowardly Lion” begins to purr.

Activities highlighted today: Cooking, family dinners, trying out new recipes, grocery-shopping, shopping for furniture and home appliances, redecorating the home front, investigating ancestry, involvement with charitable undertakings, whatever outlets that allow for the demonstration of our nurturing abilities.

Quote for the day:

“I long, as does every human being, to be at home wherever I find myself.” Maya Angelou

On This Date in history:

On October 29, 1966 the National Organization of Women (NOW) was founded. Traditionalist Saturn was in Pisces, a sign that denotes the downtrodden and disenfranchised elements of a society. Saturn was in a tight opposition to Empowering, Equality-Ruling Uranus in Abilities and Skills Virgo.

With Saturn opposite Uranus, we had a symbolic pitting of “the old” (Saturn) against “the new” (Uranus). Rebel Uranus in Service-Oriented Virgo was perhaps suggesting here that we should “equalize our roles of service,” “level the playing field.” Allow and empower individuals (women) to “serve” in new ways.

Protocol Minded Saturn, in Ego-Denying Pisces, was also possibly generating awareness of how the established rules (Saturn), over the years, had served to imprison and deny (Pisces) free expression (Uranus) to part of the populace.

Venus, ruling women, was in Regenerating Scorpio (redefining women) and exactly square to Expansive Jupiter in Self-Expressive Leo. As an organization, NOW immediately captured the spotlight (Leo) and had major (Jupiter) transformational impact on shaping women’s behavior and self-expression.

With Venus-Jupiter, too, we sometimes “go overboard” or “get carried away” in our desires. Those critical of NOW may say that, that has also been the case, that there has always been too much “zealotry” (Jupiter) with respect to the agenda and leadership (Leo) of the organization.

The Feminine Moon was also in Stabilizing and Steady Taurus, and involved in a Fixed T-Square to both Venus and Jupiter, making for more of an “uncompromising” emotional energy that is not known for “letting go.” Adding perhaps even more resolve and determination to the NOW organization and its operational principles.

COSMIC WEATHER:

The Universe is suggesting we “mingle and merge,” this weekend.  It’s providing us with an idealistic, romantic Libra Moon all Friday and into Saturday.  The Moon will also conjoin “Love Goddess” Venus (4:59 am EDT Friday) and “Sex Lord” Mars (9:22 am EDT Friday).

The Moon will then descend into Sexual Scorpio on Saturday evening (8:27 pm EDT), at which time we are highly urged to practice our “night moves” with grace and precision, particularly when the Moon throws a “sextile” aspect to “Passionate” Pluto (1:37 am EDT Sunday).

We also have the option of continuing to perfect these steamy activities throughout the day on Sunday, as the Moon stays in Scorpio all day long. Or, we can choose to do weeding and yard work.  It’s up to us. We only need to make sure that if we do choose the second option, that we don’t get carried away and try to “get intimate”  with the lawn mower. A potentially painful proposition that could also result in an “uneven lawn,” which could make us wildly unpopular in the neighborhood.

In the News:

Federal Judge Vaughn R. Walker, on Thursday, lifted his stay on the same-sex marriages ban, paving the way for gay couples in California to marry in that state. Walker delayed, however, implementation of his order to lift the ban until August 18th.

Walker’s ruling a week ago, that a voter-approved ban on same sex marriage was unconstitutional, was rendered with pioneering Mars in Matrimonial Libra exactly squaring off with transformational Pluto in governmental Capricorn. Mars-Pluto can be indicative of someone “seizing power” or taking “forceful action.”  It is also a classic “war aspect” replete with power clashes and clashes of will. There is strong opposition to Judge Walker’s ruling.

Also, “Status Quo Preserver” Saturn in Nuptials Libra was opposite Uranus in Aries when Walker ruled last week.  Uranus is associated with equality and gay rights issues and also represents change. With the Saturn and Uranus opposition, once again, we had the pitting of the old versus the new, with the new winning out this time, perhaps also because of the simultaneously strong Mars-Pluto aspect which tends to bulldoze existing structures and protocol.

On August 18th, Saturn in relationship Libra will be exactly squaring transforming Pluto to a tee. It ought to be interesting to see how this aspect plays out. Saturn-Pluto can represent “death to the past,” but often not without a bitter fight and, of course, same-sex marriage remains a controversial and polarizing issue.

Famous Leo Birthdays: Fidel Castro (84 Friday), Halle Berry (44 Saturday), Melinda Gates (46 Sunday)

Enjoy your weekend!

I will be away from this blog for a while.  My 2 degree Aries rising is being sadistically hounded by the likes of Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto, at the moment, so I must go into seclusion and hiding for a while, with or without George Clooney. George, if you’re out there, I have some milk and cookies for you. Please stop by.

Anyway, I’ll return here once I deem it is safe to come back out. Right now, it’s a battlefield out there, so I’m seeking cover. I also do need some rest. Been burning the candle at both ends, and, sadly, there is very little of my candle left to burn at this point.

“Cosmic Word of The Day”: Wedding

Definition: 1) the act or ceremony of marrying; marriage; nuptials 2) the act or an instance of blending or joining, esp. opposite or contrasting elements

Origin: bef. 900; ME; OE weddung

COSMIC WEATHER:

It’s finally the grand day of Chelsea Clinton’s “storybook wedding!” A widely heralded event that has much of the collective fixated. And, most assuredly, the proudest moment in both Bill and Hillary’s lives.

Chelsea Clinton, the sweet little Pisces girl that America and the rest of the world has lovingly watched grow up into adulthood, has now become an educated, sophisticated, and beautiful young woman, poised to unite forever with the man of her dreams, Marc Mezvinsky, a Sagittarian investment banker on Wall Street, who owns an apartment on Fifth Avenue and who also hails from political bloodlines. The two have known each other since childhood, which makes today’s occasion even more sentimental and romantic, in my opinion.

Exclusively for this celebrated gathering, Lord of Karma Saturn, which is exalted, and at its finest in matrimonial Libra, becomes a dramatic focal point in the glorious heavens with an exact, energizing conjunction from impassioned Mars, something that hasn’t happened since 1982, when Chelsea was only two years old, and well before the beaming “Father of the Bride,” Bill Clinton, became the 42nd U.S. President.

Wherever Mars travels by zodiacal sign, he accentuates the affairs ruled by that sign, and now, newly-arrived in the marriage sign of Libra, and conjoined with Wise Old Father Time Saturn, Mars has all of our eyes riveted on Chelsea’s pending union.

Also for this singular occasion, Jupiter, the planet of abundance, is in trailblazing Aries, and in exact square to Power Mogul Pluto, stationed in the prestigious, achievement-oriented sign of Capricorn the Goat, an influence that has no doubt played a central role, along with Protocol King Saturn, in social Libra, to fashion a much-ballyhooed guest list for this event that includes some of the most powerful and potent “movers and shakers” on the planet, all converging at the same point, at the same moment in time, in Rhinebeck, New York.

This influential Jupiter-Pluto aspect is also getting “A-guest-list support” today from the Exciting Aries Moon, which is tossing a harmonious trine to the very Glamorous and Regal Leo Sun, which is further helping to reportedly reign in a bevy of Hollywood stars and celebrities for the wedding, including Steven Spielberg, Barbara Walters, and Oprah. Also, the glitzy congregation is said to include the incomparable Queen of Song, my gal, Barbra Streisand.

A digressing footnote here: Barbra’s horoscope and my own natal horoscope are very similar.  Both of us are Taurus Suns, with Leo Moons conjunct lone wolf Pluto, and both of us have fiery, adventurous Aries risings. Her rising is 8 Aries, while mine is 2 Aries. I believe our personalities and senses of humor are also very similar from what I have publicly seen of her over the years in the media.  I also totally approve  of her taste in men: James Brolin! If only I could be so lucky, romantically, and had just a mere fraction of her material wealth, I know I’d be one happy camper.

Back to the wedding. Adding even more to the fanfare today, Inspirational Jupiter, which also rules religion and philosophy, is additionally conjoined now with Futuristic, Diversity Agent Uranus, deposited in Pioneering Aries. While this memorable wedding ceremony is taking place between Chelsea, who is Methodist, and Marc, who is Jewish, there will simultaneously, no doubt, continue to be a goodly number of bloggers, and others weighing in, on the matter of interfaith marriages, an issue that Mars and Saturn in Libra, is also helping once again to resurrect now, with their activating opposition to both Jupiter and Uranus. It has not been revealed whether Chelsea will follow her husband’s conservative Jewish faith.

In some ways, pitting the old, customary, Saturnian traditions against the rapidly changing, new, Uranian order of things. Even the wedding menu is largely vegetarian, and the wedding cake, reportedly gluten-free. Although, there will still be the meticulously orchestrated, majestic pageantry of the wedding itself, so dutifully safeguarded by Protocol-Minded Saturn in partnership Libra. Chelsea Clinton will most likely, too, surely look stunning in her $25,000 Vera Wang bridal gown.

“I think with our problems with hopelessness and cynicism that (the solution) ultimately has to come from the young people themselves.  We’ve got to realize we are the future and we make of our future what we make of it, and ultimately we have to do it for ourselves.” Chelsea Clinton

“Many are the stars I see, but in my eye no star like thee.” English saying

Famous July 31st Leo Birthdays: J.K. Rowling (45), Wesley Snipes (48)

Enjoy your Saturday!

Congratulations, Chelsea and Marc! Best Wishes and Much Love. Also, truly happy for Bill and Hillary.

I’ll be back by here again soon.  My schedule is hectic, but leave a light on. For both me and George Clooney, of course. Miracles do occur. The main thing is that we continue to fervently believe in their possibility with every fiber of our being.

Adios!

“The course of life is unpredictable.  No one can write his autobiography in advance.” Abraham J. Heschel.

“Cosmic Word of The Day”: Lollapalooza

Definition: 1) an extraordinary or unusual thing, person, or event; an exceptional example or instance

Origin: 1900-1905; Americanism; orig. uncert.

COSMIC WEATHER:

“Impulsive” Mars and “Depressed” Saturn are conjunct in “Divorce Court” Libra.  Both Saturn and Mars are opposite “Loose Cannon” Uranus in “Give ‘Em Hell” Aries. Moon leaves “Escapist” Pisces to “Confront Everybody Head On” in Aries. Problematic Cardinal T-Square is fully operational and building. A lollapalooza of a day, to say the least!

“It’s a day dominoes could suddenly come tumbling down because some fool sneezes or swears.  We can only hope that it won’t be Mel Gibson.

It’s an uncertain, tumultuous time period on the planet. We need to keep melodiously chanting, ‘Yes we can, yes we can,’ to somehow make it through this tortuous era that the Universe has sent us because it can. And we’re all sitting ducks with no place else to go.

My advice: Stay inside your house.  Keep securely fastened to the couch or recliner. Maybe watch Oprah summer re-runs.

Whatever you do, don’t sneeze or swear.  Breath very subtly. Again, out of concern for the dominoes crashing and leaving an untidy mess. And be extremely careful adjusting the volume on your TV dial.

Only answer the doorbell if it’s George Clooney or Domino’s Pizza. It could be, too, on this troublesome day, that George Clooney has gone to work for Domino’s Pizza in their delivery department.  Times are hard for everyone, everywhere.  But, we’ll get through this.

‘Yes we can, yes we can…'”

“Domino effect: Once you drop a good idea, the rest will follow.” Loesje quote

Enjoy your Friday!

I might be stopping by again soon. Leave a light on.

‘Yes we can, yes we can…’

“Always remember that the future comes one day at a time.” Dean Acheson

“Cosmic Word of The Day”: Progress

Definition:1) a movement toward a goal or to a further or higher stage

Origin: 1400-50

COSMIC WEATHER:

It’s the fifth and final go round between Status Quo Saturn, in the Partnership sign of Libra, and Change Agent Uranus, in New Beginnings Aries. Both are exactly in opposition to each other to the dot now.  Today we need to take action on this opposition and here are our three options to choose from:

1) Stick with the tried and true (Saturn)

2) Choose change (Uranus)

3) Go with Spaghetti and Meatballs. Red Wine. Garlic Bread. And a date with George Clooney.

You decide.  It’s your destiny.

One final thought.  I don’t know why the Universe puts so many heavyweight aspects altogether on the same day for us to grapple with and then simultaneously throws us a weird curve ball to have to deal with via the goofy Mercury opposite Neptune influence, which is also exact today.

With Mercury-Neptune, and we also have Mars quinqunx Neptune, for that matter, we are spaced out big time and in La la land. And yet, we are suppose to render major decisions about our destiny via the T-Cross, Mystic Rectangle, and whether to purchase a new upright vacuum or select a canister-style model instead. Is that progress? Go figure.

Switching gears: “Mick Jagger” is celebrating his 67th birthday today. Mick is a Leo with a Taurus Moon.  I am a Taurus with a Leo Moon. His Ascendant is 13 degrees Gemini.  My Venus (ruling love) is 13 Gemini. All of my life, I have been madly in love with Mick Jagger. In fact, if I had to choose between George Clooney and Mick Jagger, I know it would probably kill me, but I would have to choose Mick over George.  Although having my Venus in Gemini, a dual sign, I should technically be able to juggle both of  these guys without any problem.

Anyway, I hope I transition to the other side before Mick Jagger does, as I don’t believe I would want to continue living my life without Mick also aboard the planet. Even with George still around. I would just miss Mick Jagger too much.

“I’d rather be dead than singing ‘Satisfaction’ when I’m forty-five.” Mick Jagger.

I imagine Mick has progressed beyond that viewpoint over the years. You do what you have to do to pay the light bill.

Speaking of progressing, your humble astrologer will be taking some well-deserved time off from this daily platform to vacation in my back yard. I’m sure I’ll be checking in periodically with you. As some of you know, I am writing my first book on astrology and I really need to finish it.  Will miss all of you!

Quick News Update: “Intelligence Leak” of 92,000 pages of documents about the Afghan War occurs w/ Expansive Jupiter, the planet which rules journalism and publishing, in an exact square aspect to Intelligence Gatherer Pluto! Squares force action and in this case, the square produced the leak.

When we have Pluto activated in the heavens, we often find out “big secrets.”  This is especially the case with the “over-sizing” Jupiter involved in the equation. Jupiter is also in the sign of Aries which rules war and the military. Pluto correlates with spying, intelligence-gathering, and covert operations.

Wikileaks, the document-leaking organization, revealed the confidential files on Sunday.

“The highest reward for a man’s toil is not what he gets for it but what he becomes of it.” John Ruskin

“Cosmic Word of The Day”: Reward

Definition: 1) something given or received in return or recompense for service, merit, hardship, etc.

Origin: 1275-1325; ME rewarden, orig, to regard

COSMIC WEATHER:

The Illuminating Sun enters glamorous, party-lovin’ Leo today and warmly extends an intimate “sextile party invitation” to Geriatric Saturn, now hanging out all by himself in relationship Libra. The Sun surmises that Saturn is ready and eager to discreetly resume “copulating activities” after that long period of “presumed abstinence” in virginal Virgo.

Feeling sorry for Saturn, the Sun has also included some Viagra with his invitation. He figures Saturn was due this much-needed reward. The big trick now is to find somebody for Saturn to love. Although the Sun’s sextile to Saturn today should help Saturn in the “personal attraction” department. The Sun-Saturn sextile is often an “elevating” influence, a time when we are signaled out and rewarded for our past efforts.

The Sun knows, too, that Saturn has so much on his plate now, seeing that he is prominently involved in that steroidal Cardinal-T-Square with the likes of Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto, with Mars also joining the hullabaloo on July 29th.

Today, though, Saturn is “chilling out” and relaxing. Enjoying pina coladas and “paint by number” and working on his profile for the internet dating sites. Saturn figures he’s due some slack after the big move into romantic, artistic Libra.

He’s also trying to figure out how to get to the “Love Shack” where the Sun in Leo’s sizzling summer party is being held tonight. He’s heard a lot of “big shots” will be attending, so Saturn is especially looking forward to it, as he is always looking to further himself and enhance his career and status.

He’s normally adept with directions but he’s having a hard time reading the map without his new, pink-framed bifocals, which he has already misplaced again. The glasses were yet another gift from Appearances Queen Venus.

Saturn is squinting at the tiny print on the map and mumbling aloud: “It looks like I go to exit 209, then I turn left at Gibraltar, then I turn right at Bandero, then I go down a hill, then I go 15 miles…

“The tragedy of sexual intercourse is the perpetual virginity of the soul.” William B. Yeats

In the News: The issue of “race” jumped to the forefront this week with the sudden termination of that Agricultural Department Official, Shirley Sherrod, who apparently was axed prematurely for some comments that she made on race that were taken out of context.

I thought it interesting that the “confusion and embarrassing firing” occurred with the Sun in Cancer, the sign that rules agriculture, forming an exact challenging quinxqunx (adjustment) influence to nebulous Neptune in the sign of  Aquarius, which deals with equality and humanitarian issues.

Anytime we have Neptune prominent, we are more prone to being undermined and having “things not always being as they appear on the surface.”  Neptune is also associated with scandals and disrepute and Ms. Sherrod’s reputation was suddenly maligned.

We also have Saturn, ruling the past, forming the exact opposition to Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius, which governs equality issues. The Saturn-Uranus aspect has, unfortunately, stirred up “old wounds” again.

According to reports, Ms. Sherrod may be reinstated back at the Agriculture Department at a new job. Whether she goes back, is another question. Today’s Sun in leadership Leo sextile fence-mending Saturn in diplomatic Libra, would be a good time to further smooth this matter out and formally bestow an olive branch, which I believe was done late yesterday with the Sun-Saturn sextile influence already applying.

If you have an area of your life that needs some “massaging” or “salvaging,” you may also want to try to reach some level of accord or agreement today. Sun sextile Saturn can be very stabilizing and diplomatic, particularly with “peace-keeper” Libra involved. Good day for signing peace treaties.

Saturn Opposite Uranus 2010: First U.S. Offshore Wind Farm

The nation’s first offshore wind farm project, off the coast of Cape Cod, got the go ahead Wednesday (Scorpio Full Moon Day) after nine years of regulatory review. U.S. Secretary of the Interior Kenneth Salazar approved the highly contested “Cape Wind” project saying it ushered in an era of clean energy in the U.S.

The project’s developer, Cape Wind Associates, says it plans to build 130 turbines about five miles off the Cape Cod coast by the end of the year.  The $1 billion project, which will cover 24 square miles, is expected to be challenged legally by those parties opposed to the construction.

Generally, a wind farm is viewed as a way to move away from our dependence on fossil fuels for electricity.

However, local Cape Cod residents have opposed this particular project citing, among other things, that it would interfere with tourism and boating and obstruct coastal views.

Uranus rules technological and scientific advancements and it is presently in the sign of Pisces which rules both the sea and oil.  So, the offshore wind farm would be depicted by Uranus in Pisces.

Saturn in Virgo would be representative of the residents who want to preserve the pristine (Virgo) coast as it is.

With Saturn opposite Uranus we always have a tug of war between the old (Saturn) and the new (Uranus).  Oppositions denote turning points.

Of course, we have Saturn, Pluto, and Mercury retrograde, so who knows if this project will even get off the ground as slated.  There will likely be reversals, delays. Nevertheless, it is interesting to see the Saturn opposite Uranus aspect playing out in real life, isn’t it?
