Cosmic Weather:

The Waxing Pisces Moon is nearing its Full Phase, which will be occurring tomorrow at 7:55 pm. Luna Trines Venus in Scorpio, 10:26 am. Luna Sextiles Uranus Rx in Taurus, 6:26 pm. All times EDT.

“In order to understand the world, one has to turn away from it on occasion.” Albert Camus

An opportunity to disengage from the hamster wheel, for a spell, in a quest for more serene pastures (Luna in Pisces). Also, a sweet chance for us to play nice with each other; perhaps even revive or breathe new life into an old relationship or situation that had been perhaps left for dead or abandoned (Moon-Venus). We are also more open to experimentation, this evening, as well as possibly displaying our quirkier side (Moon sextile Uranus). To that end, the late Gemini poet and prolific writer Allen Ginsberg, a founding father of the counterculture Beat Generation once wrote: “Follow your inner moonlight; don’t hide the madness.” Ginsberg espoused, among other things, gay rights and anti-war movements. In the 1960s, he also coined the phrase “flower power,” synonymous with peace and love as a way to change the world.

On This Day in History: On September 19, 1778, the Continental Congress passes the first U.S. federal budget, in a bid to pay for its war debts and to regulate the federal government’s taxes.

Astrological highlights that day: Venus (money and resources) was applying to an exact conjunction with structuring Saturn in Scorpio (the sign of taxes) – an excellent aspect for organizing our finances. The problem-solving Virgo Sun was also applying to a trine to Pluto in (government-ruling) Capricorn. Sun-Pluto aspects often trigger/spark transformational activities/endeavors. Additionally, Jupiter was in harvesting Virgo and in a tight sextile to the stewardship-minded Venus-Saturn meetup. Jupiter’s propitious ray often helps to bestow blessings upon matters.

“Death, taxes, and childbirth! There’s never any convenient time for any of them.” Margaret Mitchell 🙂

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well!

Cosmic Weather:

Aiming to just go with the flow and allowing whatever is already in motion to simply play out to its natural/inevitable conclusion may be the wisest strategy for us to abide by today with Waxing Luna in surrendering Pisces, the very last sign of the zodiac. The Pisces Moon is always a good time for us to decompress/chillout/process. To have faith that what is happening is ultimately for the best. It’s also an excellent period to invoke or engage our more creative side or imagination. A mid-morning sextile from the Moon to experimental Uranus Rx in Taurus (10:43 am) may also open the door for us to entertain new ideas, connect with unusual people, or possibly depart from our daily routine in some refreshing way.

“Once you realize you deserve a bright future, letting go of your dark past is the best choice you will ever make.” Roy T. Bennett

*All times EDT.

On This Day in History: On October 26, 1954, Chevrolet unveils a more powerful, small-block V-8 engine to put in their Bel-Aire and Corvette models.

Astrologically, that day, there was a New Moon in transformational Scorpio which was exactly square to energizing Mars in the cutting-edge sign of Aquarius, which governs innovation and technology.

Eventually, a majority of GM’s ‘60s muscle cars (Mars cars!!!) would be powered by the small-block engine. The power the engine produced was enough to carry Chevy’s land yachts like the Impala and provide that tire-spinning power that muscle cars are famous for.

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Chinese New Year of Pig, daily astrology February 5 2019, daily horoscope February 5 2019, Governor Northam, group activities, Moon in Aquarius, Moon sextile Mars, Moon sextile Uranus, publishing, Reader's Digest is first published February 5 1922, Wayne Dyer quote on intention

Cosmic Weather:

“We have more success if we think of a project as a group effort, find partners and build a coalition. There is always strength in numbers.” Mark Randall

The Moon continues in humanitarian Aquarius, the sign of group involvement, throughout the day. It then enters impressionable Pisces, later tonight (9:02 pm). The Moon is still in the New phase of its monthly cycle, following the New Moon lunation in Aquarius, yesterday afternoon. And, if you haven’t already done so, there’s also still time today to set your New Moon intentions for the month, especially while the Moon is still in the sign of Aquarius. From the New Moon to the Full Moon, of course, is when we should begin seeing our intentions begin to take shape. Especially if we have added some legwork to them! The late great Wayne Dyer (b. 5/10/40) once said, regarding intentions: “You get what you intend to create by being in harmony with the power of intention, which is responsible for all of creation.”

The Moon in Aquarius makes a very nice sextile to energetic Mars in Aries this morning (8:49 am). This is very motivating yang energy that helps to get our day off to an enterprising start. We’re also acting with greater self-confidence and self-assuredness now. The Moon will sextile progressive Uranus in Aries, later this evening (6:59 pm). This is excellent for experimentation, for changing up our routine, or for hanging out with a new crowd. Today’s lunar exchange with both Mars and Uranus is also a test run or preview, perhaps, for the high-voltage Mars-Uranus conjunction in Aries, which is occurring, the middle of next week.

*All times EST.

On This Day in History: On February 5, 1922, The Reader’s Digest, an American general-interest family magazine, is published for the first time. Jupiter, which rules publishing, had just, interestingly enough, stationed retrograde in balancing Libra on February 3rd. And, communicator Mercury, actually turned retrograde in creative Pisces on February 5th! Yet, despite these two retrograde planets, The Reader’s Digest is still around, nearly 100 years later! So that just goes to show that just because a planet is retrograde, it doesn’t necessarily dampen prospects for success. So many of us tend to wig out whenever we see a planet going retrograde, especially the planet Mercury. It’s like we feel we can’t do anything or take action in the outside world until it goes direct again. Not true!

The empowering Sun and relationship Venus were also exactly conjunct in innovative Aquarius then. Sun-Venus configurations are, among other things, good for popularity, especially with women. This influence would have also been good for the creative content of the magazine. Abundant Jupiter was also trining the Sun and Venus conjunction. No doubt, another factor in the publication’s long-term success. Do any of you still read the Reader’s Digest?

Anyway, enjoy your day! Happy Chinese New Year! It’s the Year of the Pig, which, in Chinese culture, is associated with wealth and prosperity! Amen to that! 🙂

“If you’re always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.” Maya Angelou

The waxing Moon is wrapping up its stay in individualistic Aquarius today, shifting into the compassionate sign of Pisces at 2:44 pm. The Moon’s last aspect in Aquarius is a sextile to Uranus at 11:53 am, which is also the planetary ruler of Aquarius. Moon-Uranus aspects can coincide with stimulating out of the ordinary encounters. They can also poise us to want to make new alterations or changes in our home environment or personal lives. The dreamy, escapist Pisces Moon squares Venus in flirtatious Sagittarius this evening, at 8:09 pm, suggesting an increased need for romance or fun.

*All times are EST.

Famous Birthdays January 9: Kate Middleton, Richard Nixon, Dave Matthews, Bob Denver, Bart Starr

“The finest steel has to go through the hottest fire.” Richard Nixon

This Day in History: On January 9, 2007 Apple CEO Steve Jobs announces the iPhone. In the sky that day, pioneering Mars was in adventurous, communicative Sagittarius at 24 degrees of that sign, exactly trining manifesting, disciplined Saturn at 24 degrees of creative Leo. Flowing Mars-Saturn aspects often indicate positive outcomes through the application of strength and determination. It is also a time when we can often capitalize on our experience and know-how. Enthusiastic Sagittarius is additionally an excellent sign for marketing new wares to a broad, international market.  At the end of the day, I think we all would agree that the iPhone has had a pretty good run. Definitely a Mars-Saturn “worldly” success story! Needless to say, it revolutionized (Mars in Sadge) telecommunications! 🙂 In Steve Job’s natal chart he has a trailblazing Moon in Aries with expansive, fortuitous Jupiter closely conjunct tech giant Uranus in the sign of Cancer. Jupiter-Uranus aspects are associated with sudden breakthroughs and genius. Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury and is linked with intuition.

Hope you have a stimulating, extraordinary day!

astrology for march 17 2012, duties and responsibilities, futuristic, Moon in Aquarius, Moon in Capricorn, Moon sextile Uranus, Moon square Saturn

COSMIC WATCH:

We begin our day with perhaps a more serious orientation, as the waning Capricorn Moon makes a square to Saturn (9:00 am EDT). This aspect may find us more mindful of honoring our duties and commitments. This morning is an excellent time for wrapping up loose ends because after the Moon squares Saturn, it will be “void of course.” A period when it is best to finish old business.

Mid-day, however, the energy palpably shifts with the Moon’s foray into futuristic Aquarius.  Suddenly, the weight of the past is pressing less upon us and we begin to focus instead on what could be. A Moon-Uranus sextile also (7:45 pm EDT) helps to fuel our need for excitement and new experiences. “Be brave. Take risks. Nothing can substitute experience.” Paulo Coelho

The Moon in Aquarius additionally favors: involvement with group causes; taking a team approach; adding unique items to our décor or wardrobe. Too, with the Moon in its waning cycle, this is a time when we want to be doing de-weeding in our gardens and yards. Also, an excellent time for de-cluttering, including opening the windows and getting rid of the stale air. And, don’t forget to unclog your email inbox!

We are wanting more change and movement around us, and our natural curiosity is ignited, as the Moon flits into inquiring Gemini (5:45 am EST). An early morning sextile to radical Uranus (7:36 am EST) can also help to shift our thinking so we are better able to unearth more original perspectives.

astrology for december 8 2011, grandiose ideas, invention, Moon sextile Uranus, originality, sun sesquiquadrate jupiter, technology

COSMIC WATCH:

The Sun in zealous Sagittarius is forming a frictional 135-degree linkup to exaggerating Jupiter in bullish Taurus. We are cautioned not to go overboard with our resources today. Or, get too caught up in the realm of grandiose thinking. Since the practical Taurus Moon is also making a square to fantasy Neptune (6:40 pm EST) we can make our lives much less complicated by sticking mainly with the facts of matters and discounting innuendo or rumors. It is also wise to hold ourselves accountable now instead of trying to escape our circumstances.

Fortunately, later, the Moon’s shift into thinker Gemini (9:54 pm EST), and an awakening Moon-Uranus sextile (11:10 pm EST), supplies us with all the keen cerebral insight and originality we need to cleverly solve our problems and heroically close out the day. Moon-Uranus perennially serves to align us with our inner genius. This is also a good time to deal with technology matters. Or maybe even try our hand at invention.

“All perceiving is also thinking, all reasoning is also intuition, all observation is also invention.” Rudolph Arnheim

Famous People with Moon Sextile Uranus: Dick Cheney, Prince Charles.

Today’s Affirmation: My thoughts are grounded and I can see my way clearly.

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon exits “traditionalist” Capricorn for “anything goes” Aquarius (11:19 am EDT), encouraging us to fashion more spontaneous, original responses to our environment. This is especially the case when the Moon sextiles Uranus, the innovative ruler of Aquarius (3:27 pm EDT), which is deposited in pioneering Aries. Rolling out new methodologies, cultivating new approaches or strategies, engaging in brainstorming, are all suggested entrees on today’s cosmic menu.

Aquarius is also the sign of humanitarian interests and group involvement, making today favorable for immersion in any activities or causes that have the net impact of collectively lifting all of us up.  Later, the Moon’s semi-sextile to healing Pluto (8:46 pm EDT) indicates the evening hours hold a fair measure of regenerative potential. Perhaps a good time then to get in touch with our deeper motivations or feelings, with Pluto symbolizing here, the gateway to the subconscious realm.

“The regeneration of society is the regeneration of society by individual
education.” Jean de la Bruyere.

Political News:  Republican Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey made it official yesterday at a press conference that he will not be running for U.S. President in 2012, citing that “now is not my time.” He also said that he wanted to honor his commitment to the people of New Jersey. Interestingly, at the time of his announcement on Tuesday, the Capricorn Moon, which is associated with one’s professional ambitions or aspirations, and also one’s sense of duty and responsibility, was applying to a potent square to “declining” Saturn in Libra, the sign of the public.  As I mentioned in my blog yesterday, Moon square Saturn energy tends to be more restrictive in nature, and we often tend to erect barriers with others under this influence. Governor Christie opting here, in this case, to say “no” to the party members (Libra) urging him to run. Also, apparently “feeling duty-bound” (Saturn) to the people of his state. Saturn governs our commitments to others.

Enjoy your Wednesday!

COSMIC WEATHER:

“To climb steep hills requires slow pace at first.” William Shakespeare

We are looking at, essentially, two days rolled into one today, as we have the slower-paced, void-of-course “money-hungry” Taurus Moon, in the morning, and then the faster-paced, Gemini Moon in the afternoon (1:09 pm EDT). It probably serves us well to sort of chill out during the a.m. hours (attend to mainly routine matters), and then crank things up a bit later, when the Moon enters nervous, restless Gemini, the sign of communication and travel.

Too, one “cosmic weather advisory” here: When the Moon first prances into fast-talker Gemini, it immediately forms a hippie square to psychedelic Neptune (2:30 pm EDT), holed up in “why can’t we all just get along” Pisces. On the plus side, the Moon-Neptune square can fill us with inspiration and imagination, and maybe compassion (is also an excellent time for meditation and prayer). But, on the shadow side, it can also bring about some weird stuff, too, such as crackpot visions, delusions of grandeur, massive denial, con-men entering into our orbit, etc. In general, a very good chance for temporary “mass confusion,” including massive difficulty in correctly picking the winning lotto numbers for tonight’s drawing. 🙂

However, the Neptunian veil does eventually lift and the stage is then set for some really cool scenarios to occur with the Moon’s sextile to progressive, “electrifying” Uranus in “race car” Aries (6:49 pm EDT), when we may be emotionally stimulated to the max and thrilled by the sudden (Uranus) turn of events. It is also a great time to take unique action that defines us and sets us apart as an individual (Uranus). Uranus governs our “urge for individuality.” Also, our “urge for personal freedom.”

BTW, President Barack Obama (a Leo Sun) has his natal Mercury at 2 degrees of Leo (Mercury rules the mind and decisions) and his natal Moon at 3 degrees of Gemini, just like the Moon today (Moon rules moods and public image), so “liberating” Uranus in militaristic Aries is exactly harmoniously trining his Mercury now, and also favorably sextiling his Moon. “Mercury-Uranus” often inclines us to make decisions that are perhaps bolder and, more controversial or rebellious in nature (Uranus), that may also break with tradition (Uranus), or are unprecedented. Uranus can also endow us with brilliant insights, when paired with “thinker” Mercury, as Uranus is the planet that is linked with genius, innovation, and scientific discovery. Uranus is also the “higher octave” of Mercury, and also governs flashes of intuition.

President Obama’s bold decision (Mercury), reportedly made last Friday, to raid Osama Bin Laden‘s compound (combative Aries action), was a sudden “game-changer” and “defining moment” (Uranus) for his presidency, and for the overall, general perception (Moon-Uranus) of his presidency. Too, that is how unpredictable Uranus tends to operate, when its ray is stoked. It strikes with a characteristic swiftness, and its impact can then often change the trajectory of future events forever. It has been symbolically likened to a “bolt of lightning” coming out of the blue.

Obama also simultaneously has transiting Pluto, symbolizing rebirth, trining his natal Pluto now, another long-term aspect which can also mark a time of major transformation. Also that same aspect can be a “test of one’s power” (Pluto), a test of how one wields influence and control (Pluto) in the world. Pluto also governs and depicts the masses, and events that impact the mass population. Of course, he also made his decision when the Sun was exactly trine Pluto, in the sky, on Friday, and Mars was conjunct Jupiter in Aries, an aspect of adventure.

Also, as I am writing this, a “New York Times/CBS News” poll has just been released showing a big rise in Obama’s poll numbers, among both Republicans and Independents, in wake of the killing of Osama Bin Laden. According to the poll, 57% approve of his job performance, compared to 46% last month. Although, 6 in 10 Americans polled felt that bin Laden’s death was likely to increase the threat of terrorism against the U.S. in the short-term. Let’s pray the latter, is not the case.

Famous Taurus Birthdays May 4: Randy Travis (52), late Audrey Hepburn (82)

Enjoy your day! Dare to be different (Moon-Uranus)! But, do be careful about imbibing too much of the Kool-Aid (Moon-Neptune) around mid-day. 🙂

COSMIC WEATHER:

The anchoring, enduring Taurus Moon forms a challenging square to nebulous Neptune (1:51 pm EST), perhaps making our vision a tad foggy or murky. It could be that we “know not what we do,” during this time period. That our physical forms are merely along for the ride, as our tender minds wander aimlessly along. 🙂

However, this pea soup veil is soon lifted with the Moon’s sextile to genius Uranus which can bestow upon our moist little brains a bright idea or two (2:28 pm EST), and potentially show us a clear way out of our perceived difficulties. The sextile to Uranus also sets up nearly a three-hour void of course Moon phase that ends with the Moon’s entrance into restless, mentally curious Gemini (5:22 pm EST). During the Moon’s “v-o-c period,” it is best to attend to routine matters instead of initiating new projects. The Gemini Moon perennially favors reading, writing, conversation and social networking.
