Cosmic Weather:

“It is easier to believe in the ideal than it is to achieve it, but it is impossible to achieve the ideal if one does not believe in it.” Josh Steimie

With motivating Mars conjunct idealistic Neptune in Pisces (at 10:13 am) our actions may be guided now more by our dreams, fantasies, or illusions than perhaps by tangible reality. This can also be an especially creative time for artistic endeavors that rely largely on imagination or inspiration. Others of us may also feel a strong pull toward the spiritual or transcendent realm, as well as maybe feel more singularly directed by a sense of selflessness or compassion or unconditional love. Too, in some cases, Mars-Neptune can give rise to elements of martyrdom in which we can feel compelled to give ourselves over to a larger cause.

On the shadow side, Mars-Neptune alignments can also occasionally be very ego-denying, which can sometimes result in second-guessing or even doubting ourselves as firm backing from others may be harder or more elusive for us to obtain now. Or, it’s also possible that we may simply be feeling more misunderstood or misrepresented at this time. In some instances, Mars-Neptune aspects are also linked with actual retreat or surrender on matters, as Mars rules the urge for assertion and merged with dissolving, diffusive Neptune there can be an erosion or subjugation of that urge. It may also be the case that there’s simply not enough physical energy available to power our moves now or to want to deal with or take on any opposition.

Generally, Mars-Neptune aspects are often a good time to just chill out or relax, go with the flow, regroup our energies, turn inward and reflect until a clearer perspective re-emerges on the horizon – which it will – and we feel, once again, on more solid footing, more confident of what the next right step should be.

Astrology Past: The last time we had Mars conjunct Neptune in Pisces (December 6, 2018), U.S. President George H.W. Bush was laid to rest next to his wife and daughter at his presidential library in College Station, Texas. Five living presidents, family, friends, and dignitaries from around the country and the world filled Washington National Cathedral for his funeral.

“We are a nation of communities…a brilliant diversity spread like stars, like a thousand points of light in a broad and peaceful sky.” George H.W. Bush

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Cosmic Weather:

Today we may do well to keep in mind the proverbial saying: “All that glitters is not gold” as Venus (the planet of love, values, and money) moves into a square formation with Neptune Rx (the planet of idealism as well as deception). Venus-Neptune energy can seduce us to “long for/fall for” the dream, even though the logarithms/metrics may not quite add up in real-time. In reality, of course, there is nothing wrong with dreaming or imagining things to be a certain way; the issues or problems arise, however, when we refuse or intentionally choose not to look at the cold hard facts. On another level, Venus-Neptune tends to heighten our compassion/empathy for others as well as our enhance our creativity. We also may find pleasure now, or take refuge, in being by the sea or water. Going for such things as a hydromassage may also be enjoyable.

Jupiter Rx (representing our beliefs, our personal philosophy of life) is also quinqunx the North Node in nurturing Cancer today (2:28 pm), suggesting that we are feeling a little askew or off-center about integrating the bigger picture into the fabric of our daily lives. This could be because there is possibly a little bit of shifting going on inside of us now and we may need some time to sort things out.

Waning Luna also continues her passage through illusionary Pisces, until late tonight (10:37 pm), when she then will move into action-oriented Aries, a time when we may also be tempted to kick it into warp speed.

(Venus in Gemini Squares Neptune Rx in Pisces. Jupiter Rx in Sagittarius quinqunx the North Node in Cancer. Moon in Pisces moves into Aries.)

*All times EDT

Question for Today: What fantasy do you aspire to make real?

On This Day in History: On June 24, 1916, Mary Pickford (b. April 8, 1892), known as “America’s Sweetheart” becomes the first female star to get a million dollar film contract. A talented actress starring in over 200 films, she was also the co-founder of United Artists and of the Motion Picture Academy.

Pickford was born with her natal Sun (life purpose) and Jupiter (the expansive urge) in pioneering Aries and also had Neptune (ruling film and motion pictures) exactly conjunct Pluto (transformation) in contractual Gemini (at 7 degrees). Her Venus (attracting power, artistry) was also part of that Neptune-Pluto conjunction (at 3 degrees of Gemini). Venus-Neptune individuals can often leave us “spellbound,” while  Venus-Pluto natives are often able to wield great personal power and charisma as well.

When Pickford also signed her million dollar movie contract, that day in the sky, the transiting Sun (recognition, power) and Pluto (reform) were exactly conjunct in feminine Cancer, and Venus (money) and Saturn (success) were also tightly conjunct (one degree) in that same sign as well, definitely putting a spotlight on the “Goddess” energy. Venus conjunct Saturn is also an excellent astrological aspect for stabilizing or solidifying one’s finances.

“You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing that we call  ‘failure’ is not the falling down, but the staying down.” Mary Pickford

Hope you enjoy your Monday!

Today’s Energy:

The Sun trining “transcendent” Neptune encourages us to want to connect to a power greater than ourselves. Sun-Neptune aspects can also be positive for helping to dissolve the differences between us as they tend to foster a greater recognition of our common humanity, our intrinsic oneness. Sun-Neptune energy also helps to subdue the needs and desires of the ego while, at the same time, sensitizing us to the needs or plights of others, especially those persons who are perhaps down on their luck. Neptune is linked with compassion, forgiveness, idealism and humility, as well as with visions, imagination, and creativity.

Often, too, with Neptune aspects we experience a spike in synchronistic occurrences. In her book, The Tao of Psychology, Dr. Jean Shinoden Bolen says that synchronistic events offer us perceptions that may be useful in our psychological and spiritual growth. “And they may reveal to us, through intuitive knowledge, that our lives have meaning.”

“Oh! that gentleness! how far more potent is it than force!” Charlotte Bronte

COSMIC WEATHER:

“Relationship” Venus is trining “magical” Neptune in Pisces, today (2:48 pm EDT), the planet of illusion and imagination. Also, spirituality. And, because Venus and the Sun are still close together to each other, in “regenerative” Scorpio, the “purposeful” Sun will also be trining Neptune, early tomorrow (5:49 am EDT). The 120-degree trine aspect means that the energies are flowing smoothly or harmoniously between these planets – kind of like they’re doing a slow, graceful, shimmering dance with each other.

Because Neptune’s “transcendent” ray is so prominent now, we may want to focus more of our attention on the human “being” part of our nature – and less on our “doing” side. Or, as the late spiritual teacher Osho once put it: ”Be – don’t try to become.”

The “Venus-Neptune” and “Sun-Neptune” aspects also help to inspire our idealism and romanticism. Instead of division now, we are longing to see the underlying unity. We are also inclined to look for the very best in others, which is something that is more possible to do when we opt to suspend our judgment of how others should behave or act.

Today, and tomorrow, are also excellent for any kind of creative outlets, including photography, dance, painting, writing. Also, for volunteering, engaging in random acts of kindness, and philanthropic pursuits. Too, with Neptune governing dreams, it’s a time when we may want to pay closer attention to the content of our dreams, perhaps scrutinizing them for special messages or inspiration. I remember reading about Keith Richards, a while back, and learning that he got the melody for Satisfaction during a dream.

Question for Today: What makes you feel really connected to the world around you?

“I unconsciously decided that, even if it wasn’t an ideal world, it should be so and painted only the ideal aspects of it – pictures in which there are no drunken slatterns or self-centered mothers . . . only foxy grandpas who played baseball with kids and boys who fished from logs and got up circuses in the back yard.” Norman Rockwell

COSMIC WATCH:

This is the final full day of the stellium of four planets (Sun, Moon, Venus, and Mercury) and the North Node in “idealistic” Libra. Perhaps a good time to carefully reflect upon or evaluate precisely where we’re positioned, right now, along the continuum landscape, with respect to manifesting our hopes and dreams in the real world – as well as discerning what kind of gaps or loopholes remain for us to serendipitously conquer or fill in as we journey forward with our soul’s grand gig.

I also think a potential challenge for us here, today, with all this “idealizing” Libra energy, is that there is a risk that we become a bit too overwhelmed by some of the aspects of the all “too perfect picture” that we may have wistfully concocted or sketched out for ourselves in our head – i.e. sort of like falling victim to the sanguine “Norman Rockwell portrait” for our lives. Too, we do have the Sun and Venus in Libra, today, sesquiquadrate to “wounded healer” Chiron, which may also simultaneously make us more aware of our perceived shortcomings, wounds, fears, etc.

Of course, all of this energy pattern changes, big time, tomorrow, with the arrival of the New Moon Eclipse in “cleansing, transformative” Scorpio.

Question For Today: What dream is “closest to your heart” that you will you never let die?

Astrology September 8, 2014: Full Moon in Pisces – Are We Living the Dream?

“Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird, that cannot fly.” Langston Hughes

COSMIC WATCH:

Are we living “the Dream?” Or, just “getting by?” Or, maybe our personal situation is a tad more complicated, punctuated by a few, noteworthy, “shades of gray?” 🙂

Regardless of where our particular life falls among these various scenarios, today’s Full Moon in “idealistic” Pisces (9:39 pm EDT), may find us going deep within our self searching for answers, including pondering the deeper meaning of our life, and what it is that we have been put on this earth to do. Full Moons often deliver up a fresh, new awareness of something. They can also represent a culmination or turning point in our affairs. Of course, we will also want to take a closer look at the house in our personal horoscope where this Full Moon is occurring, as that is the area of our life where our illumination may be the greatest. Also, where we may see a crescendo of activities occurring. The Full Moon is taking place near the midway mark of Pisces, at 16 degrees.

Today’s lunation puts the Virgo Sun opposite the Pisces Moon, suggesting that we’re hoping to balance or reconcile the needs of our everyday life and routine (Virgo) with the needs of our Spirit, or Authentic Self (Pisces) – something that is never very easy to do! Too, sometimes just having a clear vision (Pisces) for our life, can already put us way ahead of the game. “Dissolving” Pisces, being the last sign of the zodiac, is also where we become well aware of the impermanence and fleeting nature of life on the earth plane. Also, it is in this sign in which we often feel most compelled to make a worthwhile, selfless contribution to the collective. Winston Churchill once wisely remarked that, “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”

Today’s Full Moon in Pisces is conjunct “wounded healer” Chiron and trine to “responsible” Saturn, so now might be a positive period for making heartfelt amends, or for making an effort to end or resolve our differences with each other, including letting go of any difficult issues, inside of us, that we may have been holding onto out of guilt or fear. Harmonious Moon-Saturn aspects are particularly good for stopping the hemorrhaging of our energies and getting us going again in the right direction. Saturn is also in “regenerating” Scorpio. An applying sextile to Saturn, from the “correcting” Sun in Virgo, also lends a supportive hand here. Too, today may be a good time for consulting with a nutritionist or holistic health coach regarding dietary (Virgo) issues.

Additionally, the Sun in Virgo is quinqunx “quirky” Uranus today, the planet of the unexpected, meaning that it may be wise to have “Plan B” ready to go, just in case things do not go as planned. Sun-Uranus often will challenge us to use our ingenuity to navigate sudden turnarounds. On another level, this aspect can find us questioning or taking issue with the status quo, or possibly even developing new ideological platforms. Uranus symbolizes radical factions, innovators, technology and the internet.

Question for Today: What is the life you were “meant to live?”

Famous September 8 Birthdays: Pink, Patsy Cline, David Arquette, Sid Caesar, Peter Sellers

“In between goals is a thing called life, that has to be lived and enjoyed.” Sid Caesar

Full Moon Blessings to you!

COSMIC WATCH:

“It’s not denial, I’m just selective about the reality I accept.” Bill Watterson

Expansive Jupiter squares imaginative Neptune. While this bodes very well for our creative side, other aspects of our lives could get a little trickier to navigate the next few days. Our fantasies and idealism could get the best of us leaving us more vulnerable to those whose motives may be less than exemplary. On the shadow side, Neptune is linked with deception and “get rich quick” schemes. Thankfully the analytical Virgo Moon is also in force today and can help to introduce a healthy dose of skepticism into the picture for us, should we choose to employ it.

On another level, we may need to beware that Jupiter-Neptune also has some legacy with religious extremism and fanaticism.

Mental Mercury is also entering theatrical Leo (10:24 pm EDT) helping to make our communications much more colorful and dramatic in the coming weeks. Mercury will stay in Leo until September 1st.

Serious Saturn is also stationing direct in balancing Libra today. In the days and weeks ahead, this should help us to gain solid traction with respect to our goals and relationships, after capping off a period of review and rebuilding the last few months. “The important thing is to strive towards a goal which is not immediately visible.  That goal is not the concern of the mind, but of the spirit.”  ~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

How would you feel today if you knew for certain that you were going to reach your goals? Also, at what point, might fantasy become perilous?

COSMIC WATCH:

“Creating fantasy is a very personal thing, but you can’t take the process too seriously.” Joseph Barbera

Sweetheart Venus in lighthearted Gemini encounters veiled, deceptive Neptune in the murky waters of Pisces. That means things could be a little “fishy” for us today as we try to navigate our way through the relationship stream.  With Venus-Neptune, we often see things in others, magical traits or properties, that are not really there. We are also more willing to mask any flaws that others may have now, which is something that could come back to haunt us, if we’re not careful.

Fortunately for us today, though, we also have the Moon in relationship Libra conjunct “reality guru” Saturn (12:01 pm EDT). This insightful aspect should help us to cut through Neptune’s “purple haze” to arrive at a “clearer perspective.” Sobering Saturn never shies away from “telling it like it is,” and he has characteristically very little tolerance for Neptune’s desire for immersion in psychedelic fairy tales. 🙂

COSMIC WATCH:

“Fiction reveals truth that reality obscures.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

The Moon continues in “fantasy” Pisces, during the day, and is void-of-course (without major aspect) until its entrance into “initiating” Aries later this evening (8:37 pm EDT), suggesting that we wrap up or attend to unfinished business, during the daytime hours, especially activities that allow for the full employment of our creative imagination.

Relationship Venus is also forming an inspiring, 72-degree link (quintile) to “idealistic” Neptune, the ruler of Pisces. This influence helps to awaken more of our heartfelt, tender impulses and it also tends to fuel our “need for fiction,” especially in the romance department. With “dreamy” Venus-Neptune aspects, we are characteristically more willing to overlook and to forgive, and we prefer not to focus upon anything unseemly. Our boundaries with others can also become more blurred, as our compassion is strengthened and our ego needs take a back seat.

Additionally, the Gemini Sun’s square to “wounded warrior” Chiron in Pisces today also acts to raise our sympathy level up a notch and makes us more capable of noble, selfless deeds.

Too, as I am writing this blog, it is being reported that Ratko Mladic, Europe’s most-wanted war crimes fugitive, was arrested today in Serbia (WSJ.com). It could be that this Sun-Chiron influence can also help us to “ferret out evil,” or perhaps galvanize us to deal more with “suffering” (Chiron). When Chiron’s ray is stoked, there is often a “suffering” component to it on some level. When Chiron first entered Pisces, for instance, I remember we had the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico (Pisces rules oil).

On a shadow level, Pisces is also the zodiacal sign that is linked with extremism, terrorism and hidden factions. It is a more complex sign. Embracing both the “saint” and the “sinner.”

Famous Birthdays May 26th: Sally Ride (60), Stevie Nicks (63). BTW, Stevie Nicks has relationship Venus in the mothering sign of Cancer exactly square to her “fantasy” Neptune in partnership Libra, giving her a tendency to always want to see the best in others. It also makes her more capable of self-sacrifice, especially where romance is concerned. Sometimes, too, with Venus-Neptune, we are attracted to more “wounded” types that we can help nurse back to health.

Venus-Neptune is also often a major artistic influence (Neptune rules music) and, of course, Stevie is a divine (Neptune) singer and performer, who nurtures the world (Venus in Cancer) through her extraordinary music. She is also “pioneering” in her approach with her Aries rising.

Enjoy your Thursday!
