“You are not the victim of the world, but rather the master of your own destiny. It is your choices and decisions that determine your destiny.” Roy T. Bennett

Animating Mars enters the information gathering/sharing sign of Gemini today (2:12 am), where it will stay until May 15. Mars in curious, communicative Gemini serves to expand the general awareness of our environment as well as steps up our daily interactions with it.

We’re also seeking to enlarge the playing field of our options now as Mars in Gemini motivates us to ferret out greater variety in our lives. Accordingly, the choices that we make, or the decision-making process, also potentially becomes more complicated as we sort through a plethora of possibilities.

Too, we’ll likely be needing more flexibility or wiggle room with respect to how we execute what we undertake now, over the next six weeks, as Gemini doesn’t like to be pinned down. Of course, there’s always a danger, with Mars in the sign of the twins, that we’ll scatter our energy or spread ourselves around, too thin, going in too many different directions. Our natural orientation now more akin to that of a busy bumblebee, going around, from flower to flower, gathering nectar. In mutable Gemini, Mars function is to first gather or collect, and then to disseminate, the bounty it has accumulated.

It also served as the entrance arch to the Fair. At 300m high, the Eiffel Tower retained the record for the tallest man-made structure for 41 years.

Cosmic Weather:

“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to reform (or pause and reflect).” Mark Twain

There’s a nice release in the energy today in that we have the Moon, all day, in detached, futuristic Aquarius, the sign of the observer and reformer. No doubt, a welcoming counterpoint to some of the emotionalism and fogginess suggested by the lingering Mercury-Neptune conjunction in impressionable Pisces.

The waning Moon in Aquarius also harmoniously sextiles the pioneering Sun in Aries, this afternoon (5:53 pm). Adding, perhaps, to our sense of self-confidence and leadership ability, and potentially bestowing more of a feeling of inner balance.

The Aries-Aquarian energy is ideal for immersion in any type activities that make us feel, individually, that we’re powering ourselves forward (Aries) while at the same time doing something that we perceive will also possibly be beneficial or meaningful for the collective (Aquarius). We’re also more turned on now by things that are cutting-edge, innovative, wacky, maybe even shocking!

On This Day in History: On March 30, 1981, President Ronald Reagan is shot and wounded in an assassination attempt by John Hinckley, Jr.; three others are also wounded.

Astrologically, in the sky that day, warrior Mars was separating (one-degree) from an exact conjunction to the Sun in initiating Aries. The Sun symbolizes authority figures or persons in power.

Cosmic Weather:

“Starting is not most people’s problem, staying, continuing and finishing is.” Darren Hardy

With the Sun in enterprising (fiery) Aries today and the waning Moon in ambitious (earthy) Capricorn, both action-oriented cardinal signs, there’s excellent energy at our disposal now for finishing up our ‘to-do’ or ‘should-do’ lists (Moon conjunct Saturn), for clearing out (Moon conjunct Pluto), for doing whatever is practical or grounding for us (Moon trine Mars). Moon trining Mars also serves to enliven our emotions (8:05 pm). Plus, with energizing Mars, the ruler of Aries, at 29 degrees of manifesting Taurus, today and tomorrow (anaretic or critical degree), we may feel propelled to take some key, last minute-actions now, on matters that we’ve maybe had on the back burner for a while. In other words, there’s possibly some desperation to our actions now. Kind of like: “I’m going to get this sucker done, if it’s the last thing I do!”

“Feeling lost, crazy and desperate belongs to a good life as much as optimism, certainty and reason.” – Alain de Botton

On This Day in History: On March 29, 1973, the last U.S. troops withdraw from South Vietnam. Astrologically, on that day, intellectual Mercury in sensitizing Pisces was exactly square to restrictive Saturn in cerebral Gemini, an aspect that, on the shadow side, potentially makes us much more serious-minded and more painfully aware of the various hardships in life, the limitations, the losses. It’s, needless to say, a very sobering energy. But, also one that often pushes us to make more difficult and final decisions. It’s also a time when we sometimes say goodbye. Additionally, Mars and Jupiter were conjunct in change-oriented, liberating Aquarius, and both applying to a sextile to Neptune in philosophical Sagittarius. Neptune’s dissolving ray is often prominent with respect to crafting peace treaties, ending wars, discord, or violence.

“It is not enough to win a war; it is more important to organize the peace.” – Aristotle

Famous March 29 Birthdays: Eugene McCarthy, Sam Walton, Billy Carter, John Major, Karen Ann Quinlan

Cosmic Weather:

“You wanna fly, you got to give up the shit that weighs you down.” Toni Morrison

It’s actually quite possible today that we’ll be able to lighten our load, a bit, so we can pin on our dusty angel wings, and become airborne, with sweet Venus, in ethereal, transcendent Pisces, sextiling aviation-ruling Uranus in practical Taurus. Uranus naturally propels us towards change and experimentation. And, newly-deposited in Venus-ruled Taurus, the sign that governs money, our values, and our attachments, it’s potentially a chance for us to suddenly see these areas in a brand new light and to maybe do some creative tweaking, if needed. Possibly releasing, in the process, some of the baggage or worn-out practices of the past. I emphasized the word suddenly here, too, because that’s often how Uranus tends to impact us. It metaphorically symbolizes a bolt of lightning, out of the blue. You know, it’s those light bulb or aha moments that Oprah’s always going on about. Oprah herself is a Uranus-ruled Aquarian.

Venus-Uranus can be especially refreshing for new romantic encounters, for forming new friendships, and socializing, in general, as it often pairs us up with personality types that we normally wouldn’t give a second thought to. What’s also extra exciting about these liaisons, at least at the time, is there usually a lot of electricity in the air when we meet these people.

The Moon also shifts from idealistic Sagittarius to business-oriented Capricorn, this morning (10:07 am), with the Capricorn Moon also sextiling Venus (12:06 pm) and trining Uranus (12:10 pm), again underscoring the day’s sizzling Venus-Uranus aspect. If you’re also into power lunches, today would probably be a good time to have one. Although, Venus in inebriated Pisces may also want to make it into a two-martini lunch, so be forewarned!

On This Day in History: On March 27, 1915 Typhoid Mary (Mary Mallon) is arrested and returned to quarantine on North Brother Island, New York after spending five years evading health authorities and causing several further outbreaks of typhoid. Astrologically in the sky, that day, problem-solving Mercury was applying to a conjunction to insightful Jupiter and police chief Mars in escapist Pisces, the sign that also rules infirmaries, hospitals, and prisons.

Famous March 27 Birthdays: Gloria Swanson, Quentin Tarantino, Mariah Carey.

Cosmic Weather:

“There is nothing I would not do for those who are really my friends. I have no notion of loving people by halves, it is not my nature.” Jane Austen

Wow! So cool how Jane Austen put that! Very simple concept, but powerful. Not surprisingly, Austen’s lovable Venus was also in all-or-nothing Scorpio in her natal horoscope. Of course, too, with my slower, duller, warped Mercury in Taurus brain, after I read that wonderful quote, this morning, I must admit, I right away had to fixate, quite literally, on an image, in my mind, of what appeared to be a younger man dressed, business casual, with his body split into two distinct halves: the top frontal half and the bottom frontal half. As far as I can tell, both parts were still connected. Maybe glued together? Pathetic, isn’t it? Really sick… Perhaps a second cup of coffee will help to get the blood flowing, eventually, to my neocortex region… 🙂

So Venus exits friendly, detached, bohemian Aquarius, this afternoon, and dives into the compassionate waters of Pisces (3:43 pm), where she’ll remain until April 20th. Venus is exalted in Neptune-ruled Pisces, the sign associated with divinity or transcendence. With unconditional love. Venus in Pisces can help to, overall, soften the tone or tenor of our relationships, in the next few weeks, and attune us more to the feeling side of others now. One possible pitfall, however, with Venus here, is that it can also fill us with more of a desire for the elusive, or for what is just beyond our reach. Potentially resulting in our not being happy with what it is that we do have. On another level, Venus’ passage through Pisces in an excellent time to work on issues such as self-acceptance and self-love.

“The most terrifying thing is to accept oneself completely.” – C. G. Jung

The Moon also remains in ‘world-traveler’ Sagittarius, today, and forming a conjunction to its ruler, Jupiter, later tonight (10:37 pm). Ideal time for sightseeing, writing, marketing and sales related activities. Our mood tends to be more upbeat and outgoing. Inspirational.

*All time EDT.

Famous People with Venus in Pisces: Michelle Obama, Ali MacGraw, Henry James, Helen Gurley Brown, Betty Ford, Marvin Gaye, Emmylou Harris, Hugh Hefner.

In the News: Interestingly enough, the very day that Special Counsel Robert Mueller delivered his completed report to Attorney General Barr, last week, transiting Mars was exactly conjunct President Trump’s midheaven or career house, a sector in the horoscope which also governs a person’s public reputation or standing. Warrior Mars passing through one’s Midheaven, which happens approximately every two years, is often a time when a person kicks it into high gear and really goes to battle for themselves in the public or professional arena. Vigorously defending or detailing their work record and or accomplishments, especially if they’ve maybe been feeling that they’ve been under attack, which, of course, Trump did. Also, quite notably, as Mars entered Trump’s career house it was also forming waning sextiles to both his soothing, supportive Venus (10th house ruler) and ambitious Saturn, both conjunct in self-protective Cancer in his 11th house of hopes and wishes. Mars sextile Saturn is often a positive payback period for us, when our previous efforts are rewarded or solidified.

The last couple days, too, transiting Mars, in persistent Taurus, has also been exactly square to Trump’s natal Mars, which is in bravado Leo at 26 degrees. His natal Mars is also conjunct his 29 degree Leo Ascendant or First House, which rules new beginnings. A potentially highly-charged period for him, where he personally seems to be more defiant and energetic than ever, and taking a victory lap. In case you’ve also been held captive by aliens, for the past few days, and missed it, the Mueller Report reportedly found no collusion with Russia on the part of the Trump campaign during the presidential election. It did not render an opinion, however, with respect to whether there was any obstruction of justice committed. The Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General, however, both concluded that Trump shouldn’t be charged with obstruction. Of course, not everyone agrees here, and the Democrats reportedly want to see the full report for themselves by April 2nd. The very day that manuscript-ruling Mercury and ambiguous Neptune meet up again, for the third and final time, in fishy Pisces. The plot thickens! To be continued! 🙂

Hope you enjoy your Tuesday!

Cosmic Weather:

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

We start out our ‘oh so jolly’ Monday with a waning trine between the Moon in adventurous Sagittarius and the Sun in initiating Aries (10:30 am), an ideal time, perhaps, for broadening the scope of our lives, stretching our limits. Maybe also for doing a little preaching, teaching, or possibly even performing a few, full-scale conversions, if we’re up to it, that is, depending upon our personal opportunities, inclinations, and or schedules. Keeping in mind, too, of course, that logical, analytical Mercury is still a bit fuzzy around the eyeballs because of its continuing hookup with nebulous, intoxicated Neptune. In other words, it seems we possibly may have the big picture covered, for today, at least, with the visionary Sadge Moon. But, it’s those annoying little details that could possibly mess us up, along the way. What do they say, too, that the devil’s in the details? Yup.

Too, with Mercury covering speech, we may want to be very discreet with respect to what we say in the confessional, and to whom, as we could be easily misunderstood and possibly end up with having to do more penance than is called for or deserved. Just sayin’…Trying to keep all the purgatorial sentences light around here. 🙂

On This Day in History: On March 25, 1969, John Lennon and Yoko Ono stage their first ‘bed-in for peace’ in Amersterdam. Astrologically, in the sky, that day, the Aries Sun was separating from a conjunction with Chiron in pioneering Aries, which is something that we also just had, a few days ago. The Sun and Chiron were also opposite both philosophical Jupiter and radical, anti-establishment Uranus. Both Jupiter and Uranus were conjunct in Libra, the sign of peace, harmony, and relationships. Fascinatingly, lovable Venus (retrograde) and manifesting Saturn were also both exactly conjunct in bold, spirited Aries, that day. The Moon was also waxing in playful, communicative Gemini. John Lennon (b. 10/9/40) also had, in his chart, the transiting Chiron in Aries exactly opposite his natal, assertive, sexual Mars in matrimonial Libra. The transiting Aries Sun was also exactly trine Lennon’s natal, transformational Pluto in theatrical, exhibitionist Leo.

Cosmic Weather:

“And then there are days of being lost in the woods, not knowing the fate, but just being a wanderer. That’s life.” Anonymous

When you really think about it, being lost, in itself, isn’t something that’s necessarily good or bad. It’s when you’re lost, and you know that you’re lost – that’s when life can get way more complicated! And, fast! Because in the latter scenario, instead of simply enjoying being clueless, being a so-called wanderer, being lost in space, or in the woods, whatever, you’re now spending nearly all your dang time and energy trying to figure out where the heck you are! And, how to get back! 🙂

Okay…

So it’s round two of the Mercury (thoughts, reasoning, ideas) Neptune (idealism, fantasy, deception) meetup today. First time they hooked up was on February 19 at the time of the Virgo Full Moon. Now we have Mercury in its retrograde phrase, at this second meetup. April 2nd will be when Mercury and Neptune have their final warm embrace, with Mercury stationing direct on March 28, and still at 16 degrees of Pisces. The same degree where it is now, and will remain, until April 1st, or April Fool’s Day. Which should, right away, raise another big red flag! 🙂

So, essentially, we have mental Mercury conjunct blank screen Neptune in fishy Pisces for really the next several days. During this time, some of us may be lost, literally and or symbolically, and not know it. Others of us may know that we’re lost, but don’t yet know how to get unlost or found. (For astrology newbies, Mercury conjunct Neptune, on the shadow side, is associated with confusion, misinformation, things being up in the air, scandals, cover-ups, innuendos.)  To top it off, we have the newly-released Mueller report supposedly getting ready to float around the halls of Capitol Hill. Ad nauseum, no doubt. Probably for decades!

Plus, here’s a fact that nobody in the media is reporting: Russia’s Vladimir Putin (b. 10/7/52) also has, in his own natal horoscope, Mercury conjunct Neptune (in of the sign Libra)! And, it’s a close, two-degree conjunction! Yet, President Trump still insists “there’s been absolutely no Russian collusion…” Hey, buddy, we all know otherwise. All we have to do is look up in the frickin’ sky! Mercury and Neptune are colluding! Right this very minute. Boy oh boy… the guy must be blind or something. Plus Putin’s own natal horoscope confirms what we’re seeing and shows his own planetary involvement in the situation! Gee wiz! It’s a late March slam dunk, if you ask me! 🙂

Then there’s poor Robert Mueller (b. 8/7/44). He also has the transiting Mercury-Neptune conjunction today exactly opposite his natal Mars and Chiron conjunction at 16 degrees of Virgo. So, he’s, no doubt, also in a foggy state (and will be for a while), and probably feels that a lot of the work (Virgo) that he’s been putting into the investigation, over the last two years, will probably end up being either misunderstood or misrepresented. A lot of the time, Mars-Neptune aspects can be not only ego-denying, but also exhaustive – mentally, emotionally, and physically. He’s probably so happy to finally be able kick this baby to the curb!

Famous March 24 Birthdays: Dorothy Height, Steve McQueen, Peyton Manning, Harry Houdini

“All you need to do is organize your butterflies.” Dorothy Height.

Born in Virginia in 1912, Dorothy Height was a leader in addressing the rights of both women and African Americans as the president of the National Council of Negro Women. In the 1990s, she drew young people into her cause in the war against drugs, illiteracy and unemployment. The numerous honors bestowed upon her include the Presidential Medal of Freedom (1994) and the Congressional Gold Medal (2004). She died on April 20, 2010, in Washington, D.C. (biography.com)

In Height’s horoscope, among other things, she had Venus (women) in empathetic Pisces (the sign ruling civil rights) in a tight conjunction with wounded healer Chiron. Intellectual Mercury was also in trailblazing Aries and exactly square to idealistic Neptune in Cancer, no doubt, supplying her with plenty of vision and imagination in reaching for her goals. Her Mercury was also sextile to Mars and Pluto, which were tightly conjunct in information-minded, communicative Gemini (Height was also an administrator, educator, and author). People with Mars and Pluto conjunct tend to be strong transformational figures and with this conjunction occurring in articulate Gemini she would likely be very persuasive in her speech and communication of her ideas.

Anyway, hope you enjoy your Sunday!…Remember, too,… if you’re feeling a little lost, all you need to do is take three steps forward. Then two steps back. Then take another four steps forward. Or, you may want to try, just going backwards with all your steps, since Mercury is in retrograde motion. It’s really all up to you. Whatever you decide. I can only advise you, at this point, as your lowly, humble, clueless astrologer.

Cosmic Weather:

“Your mind is like a gold mine, if you dig deep, you will find something golden.” Gift Gugu Mona

With the Sun still deposited in the early degrees of fast-forwarding Aries, there’s plenty of desire now to see it all, do it all, to make it all happen. At the same time, however, the Moon’s passage through tunneling Scorpio also gives us the inclination to scale deeper with things, to probe, to investigate (for maybe combing through the newly-completed Mueller report? The report was released with the Aries Sun exactly conjunct wounded healer Chiron!).

Additionally, the Scorpio Moon can serve to awaken our passions. It’s often said that uncovering what we’re passionate about in life, and engaging in those passions on a regular basis, often goes a long way in determining the quality of our life. In other words, there’s seemingly a lot of power in passion. In having something to do that fills us with joy. That makes us lose track of time. I enjoy blogging here because it gives me a sense of purpose. Makes me feel more alive in the morning, which at my age, is quite an accomplishment! 🙂 What often trips me up with the blogging, though, and maybe you can relate, is when I inject the self-critical or judgmental piece into the equation. I’ll write something that I think is okay at the time, but a few minutes later, when I re-read it, I’ll suddenly hate it, and will want to strike the darn thing from the face of the earth! Probably part of the whole dark, sick Scorpio birth, death, rebirth thing! But hey, it’s all good! It’s how we presumably learn and grow.

On this Day in History: On March 23, 1945, the Battle of Okinawa occurred. US Navy ships bomb the Japanese island of Okinawa in preparation for the Allied invasion. It would become the largest battle of the Pacific War during World War II. In the sky on that fateful day, the Sun was in confrontational Aries, the sign of the military, and exactly opposite the Chiron and Neptune midpoint in Libra. The Sun was also applying to a square to Saturn in Cancer; Saturn was also squaring both Chiron and Neptune. Mars, the ruler of war, was also at 29 degrees of Aquarius, a critical degree.

With the empowering Sun conjunct Chiron in motivated Aries today, there’s an opportunity to become more aware of parts of our personality, or, perhaps, elements of our life, that we normally may not pay much attention to: the vulnerabilities or sensitivities; the hidden wounds. Generally, Sun-Chiron tends to promote self-honesty. Even though, initially, we could be a little wigged out by some of what may be coming up for us now, internally. Kind of like when we get the initial estimate of costs to repair our car when we bring it into the dealership. “Holey moley!” But then, after the preliminary shock wears off, we somehow manage to settle ourselves down. We then go ahead and get the ole’ clunker repaired and get it back on the road again. Sometimes, too, just asking ourselves ‘Is this a productive thought? Is it getting me closer to where I want to be?’ can often help to move us beyond our difficulties, beyond the stranglehold of the past, and propel us to take positive action toward our future.

“Worn old shoes need a good cobbler to be repaired; but worn old thoughts, only a rubbish bin!” Mehmet Murat Ildan

On this day in history: On March 22, 1957 “All Shook Up” single was released by Elvis Presley (b. 1/8/35). The song was also later named Billboard’s Year End number one song for 1957 (Wikipedia).

Astrologically, in his natal chart the day of its release, transiting Jupiter (the Santa Claus archetype) was retrograde at 26 degrees of Virgo or exactly conjunct his Midheaven (career house). Traditionally interpreted as a very propitious or lucky time for a person, professionally. Jupiter was also applying to a one-degree sextile to transforming Pluto in Cancer in his 8th house of shared resources, an influence favorable for augmenting finances as well as for potentially receiving material backing or other kinds of support from influential individuals.

“Ambition is a dream with a V8 engine.” Elvis Presley

Hope you enjoy your Friday! Do something fun!

Cosmic Weather:

“Never complain of that of which it is at all times in your power to rid yourself.” Adam Smith

The Moon spends another full day in active Aries, this Saturday, so anything that has a physical element to it gets a nod, if you’re up to it, that is. Also, this morning is an excellent time for any decluttering or refurbishing projects, especially on the homefront, as the Aries Moon is forming a square to eliminating and rebirthing Pluto (11:56 am).

On a personal note, the other day while I was cleaning out a small storage cabinet that I hadn’t looked inside for ages, I found several brand new items that I had no memory of ever buying. It was a little bit like embarking upon the thrill of the hunt! Unfortunately, though, I didn’t locate any misplaced, winning lotto tickets. 🙂 You sometimes hear about people doing that. Finding a ticket worth millions of dollars underneath an old girdle in a drawer. Or maybe under a pair of holey socks. You also gotta’ wonder, if you’re into astrology, what in the world did they have in their horoscope at the time they discovered the ticket? Maybe an aspect to Pluto? Pluto is associated with hidden treasure and excavation. Then, too, when you pair Pluto with Jupiter, that’s often when you stumble upon real mega-wealth!

Now, as fate would have it, would you believe that the Moon’s last major aspect in Aries today, before going void, is actually a trine to lucky Jupiter in Sagittarius ( 12:14 pm)? Could it be that we’re all on the edge of victory here??? That all we need to do is summon our inner Sherlock Holmes and, instead of heading for the hills, head for the drawers? As corny as that sounds.

The darn thing has gotta’ be around here somewhere! … 🙂

This Day in History: On March 9, 1776, the influential economics book “The Wealth of Nations” by Scottish economist and moral philosopher, Adam Smith, was published. This classic book offers, among other things, one of the world’s first collected descriptions of what builds nations’ wealth (Wikipedia).

In the sky on the date of the book’s publication, analytical Mercury was retrograde in creative Pisces (just like it is now) and had just separated from an exact square to philosophical Jupiter in information-oriented Gemini, a sign which is also ruled by Mercury. Mercury and Jupiter, of course, both govern our writing, thoughts, and ideas. Too, when these two planets are paired together is when you often will find more voluminous or comprehensive types of writing on a subject. Additionally, Jupiter is also the “wealth” planet and rules the world’s financial systems.

“Man is an animal that makes bargains: no other animal does this – no dog exchanges bones with another.”  Adam Smith

Hope you enjoy your Saturday! Happy hunting!
