Cosmic Weather:

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

We start out our ‘oh so jolly’ Monday with a waning trine between the Moon in adventurous Sagittarius and the Sun in initiating Aries (10:30 am), an ideal time, perhaps, for broadening the scope of our lives, stretching our limits. Maybe also for doing a little preaching, teaching, or possibly even performing a few, full-scale conversions, if we’re up to it, that is, depending upon our personal opportunities, inclinations, and or schedules. Keeping in mind, too, of course, that logical, analytical Mercury is still a bit fuzzy around the eyeballs because of its continuing hookup with nebulous, intoxicated Neptune. In other words, it seems we possibly may have the big picture covered, for today, at least, with the visionary Sadge Moon. But, it’s those annoying little details that could possibly mess us up, along the way. What do they say, too, that the devil’s in the details? Yup.

Too, with Mercury covering speech, we may want to be very discreet with respect to what we say in the confessional, and to whom, as we could be easily misunderstood and possibly end up with having to do more penance than is called for or deserved. Just sayin’…Trying to keep all the purgatorial sentences light around here. 🙂

On This Day in History: On March 25, 1969, John Lennon and Yoko Ono stage their first ‘bed-in for peace’ in Amersterdam. Astrologically, in the sky, that day, the Aries Sun was separating from a conjunction with Chiron in pioneering Aries, which is something that we also just had, a few days ago. The Sun and Chiron were also opposite both philosophical Jupiter and radical, anti-establishment Uranus. Both Jupiter and Uranus were conjunct in Libra, the sign of peace, harmony, and relationships. Fascinatingly, lovable Venus (retrograde) and manifesting Saturn were also both exactly conjunct in bold, spirited Aries, that day. The Moon was also waxing in playful, communicative Gemini. John Lennon (b. 10/9/40) also had, in his chart, the transiting Chiron in Aries exactly opposite his natal, assertive, sexual Mars in matrimonial Libra. The transiting Aries Sun was also exactly trine Lennon’s natal, transformational Pluto in theatrical, exhibitionist Leo.

“If everyone demanded peace instead of another television set, then there’d be peace.” John Lennon

Famous Birthdays March 25th: Jack Ruby, Eileen Ford, Flannery O’Connor, Gloria Steinem, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Sarah Jessica Parker

“The truth does not change according to our ability to stomach it.” Flannery O’Connor

Hope you enjoy your Monday!

With the Moon still near its Full Phase and in the adventurous sign of Aries, what may have held us back before, is likely no longer going to be a deterrent. The Moon’s sextile to optimistic Jupiter (4:40 pm EDT) also encourages us to confidently stretch our wings.

Astrology December 15 2011: The Leo Moon and Taylor’s Jewels

adventure, astrology for december 15 2011, Christie's auction house, Elizabeth Taylor, Elizabeth Taylor Christie's auction, fun, Moon in Leo, moon opposite neptune, moon trine sun, moon trines jupiter, philosophy

COSMIC WATCH:

With the Moon still in charming, playful Leo today and making a flowing trine to the exploratory Sun in Sagittarius (11:07 am EST) we are encouraged to pursue fun and adventure, perhaps as a healing form of rejuvenation. Although, an evening opposition to fantasy Neptune (8:20 pm EST) cautions us not to read more into a situation than what really exists. Moon-Neptune can always be a little tricky to navigate.

Later, the Moon’s entrance into discerning, fact-finding Virgo (10:59 pm EST) and a follow-up trine to philosophical Jupiter helps us to achieve a broader, but clear-cut perspective (11:55 pm EST). Additionally, Moon-Jupiter is an aspect of abundance, with Jupiter often regarded as the “Cosmic Santa Claus.” Interestingly, Jupiter will also be stationing direct, this year, exactly on Christmas Day. Wonder if there is any special significance to that? I like to think that there is and that it is all good.

“Life is the first gift, love is the second, and understanding the third.” Marge Piercy

Today’s Affirmation: I embrace new possibilities for myself and am guided by the wisdom of my own inner truth.

Celebrity News: The late Elizabeth Taylor’s legendary collection of precious jewels went to auction on Tuesday evening at Christie’s in New York, just as the Moon was appropriately entering glitzy, glamorous Leo.

The auction marathon began with the Leo Moon square to expansive Jupiter in Taurus, the sign of money and possessions. This aspect often correlates with our overspending, as opulent Jupiter can incline us to want to do things on a lavish or extravagant scale. (Wonder if any of the successful bidders have any buyer’s remorse now?) The Leo Moon was also making a trine to electrifying Uranus. Uranus influences often provide us with singular, one-of-a-kind experiences.

Too, Elizabeth Taylor natally had Venus, which happens to rule jewelry and things of beauty, exactly conjunct Uranus in Aries in her birth chart, perhaps helping her to amass her original, “out of this world” collection in the first place. Of course, multiple marriages to wealthy, generous men did not hurt her cause any either. 🙂 Venus-Uranus can also bring about “out of the norm” romance and whirlwind courtships. (As a child, I was always so enraptured and fully mesmerized by her marriage to Richard Burton, who I also had a major crush on.)

So far, the jewelry sale on Tuesday and Wednesday (Leo Moon both days) has fetched $137.2 million, reportedly making it the most valuable sale of jewelry in auction history. (Unfortunately, due to a temporary shortage of funds, yours truly was, regrettably, unable to partake in any of the bidding, even though my Leo Moon would have loved to have done so.)

Do you have a favorite piece of jewelry that holds a lot of sentimental value for you?

BTW, last week, someone generously dropped a diamond ring valued at $3,500 into a Salvation Army kettle near where I live. Pretty neat, huh? We should all be so inclined. ‘Tis the season.

Astrology July 20, 2011: Moon in “Checkered Flag” Aries

COSMIC WATCH:

“Adventure is not outside man; it is within.” George Eliot

The Moon’s ingress into “checkered flag” Aries (12:26 pm EDT) gets our engines started and propels us to seek out new adventures. Too, the Aries Moon has her monthly meet-up with “unexpected” Uranus today (9:31 pm EDT), normally a time when we are able to load up on new experiences. Uranus tends to work its magic for us as a harbinger of change. He also gets us ingeniously thinking outside the box.

The Moon in Aries also squares “stealth” Pluto in Capricorn (11:46 pm EDT). A time when we may choose to go undercover. Pluto governs hidden realms, including our subconscious. Too, while we like to think that we’re consciously controlling our behavior, many psychologists say that most of the time, our behavior is dictated by our subconscious. No doubt, this theory is also “music to Pluto’s ears,” who delights in surreptitiously pulling our strings. 🙂

“Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity.” George Patton

People with Moon in Aries: Sarah Ferguson, Jennifer Lopez

Celebrity Update: Unconfirmed reports are swirling around today that former Beatle, Paul McCartney (a Gemini), is poised to walk down the aisle for a third time in London. His bride-to-be is American divorcee, Nancy Shevell, who is Barbara Walters’ second cousin. The two have reportedly dated for four years.

Paul has “change-agent” Uranus, in “new beginnings” Aries, moving through his seventh house of marriage now and exactly trining his “transforming” Pluto in “romantic” Leo in his 11th house of hopes and wishes. I get the sense of some positive, life-changing karma playing out for Paul here. How about you? Unfortunately, I don’t have Nancy’s chart.

One other cool note about Paul’s chart: He natally has loving and creative Venus, in faithful Taurus, exactly conjunct his 9th house of writing. This has to be a big boon for him in his song-writing ability, especially his talent for writing “silly love songs.” Venus not only rules romance, but it also shows what we love to do. I’m not even sure how many songs Paul has written, but it has to number into the hundreds. Too, Venus in Taurus often coincides with marked talent for art or music.

Enjoy your Wednesday! We’re rooting for you Paul!

COSMIC WATCH

“Action conquers fear.” Peter Nivio Zarlenga

The Moon’s ingress into pioneering Aries (4:24 am EDT) stokes our desire for new adventures. The Moon’s conjunction with change-agent Uranus (1:24 pm EDT) also acts to propel us into the future and potentially provides us with more of a platform to “do our own thing,” which the Aries Moon is already very receptive to doing. Rebel Uranus is associated with individuality and non-conformity. It encourages us not to render cookie-cutter responses, so this alignment can be very refreshing and rejuvenating for us, if we are but willing to be our true, authentic selves.

Later on, possible resistance from others to our plans, in the guise of the Moon’s square to controlling Pluto (5:08 pm EDT), in authoritative Capricorn, may have us wanting to retreat back to our Cancerian Sun “crab shells.” This may, indeed, be a very good time to go inside ourselves and examine our behavior and see if there is maybe something that we can either fix or purge (Pluto) that will help us to reunite more with our own sense of power, so we will feel less threatened or bothered by things external to us in the future.

Moon-Pluto can make us stronger by eliminating what is weaker or dead weight within us. Pluto governs the subconscious, and Pluto is always very ready to confer upon us deep insight, if we are willing to work with it. Moon-Pluto can be a very effective cathartic or healing agent. This configuration is also linked with actual surgery.

What would you like to reform or change about yourself? Anything?

Celebrity News:  Actor George Clooney and girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis have reportedly split up after a two-year courtship. George (born 5/6/61) has transiting Saturn in Libra in his 7th house of partnerships now opposing his “love goddess” Venus in Aries in his first house of new beginnings.

This is, unfortunately, a textbook divorce or separation aspect. This is partly because Venus-Saturn often tends to make us feel “cut off” from others (Saturn inhibits our expression). Then, of course, when we get to feeling this way, we often end up erecting even more walls around us, which is not favorable or conducive for romance.

Too, this Venus-Saturn aspect can also simply indicate, that we have outgrown a relationship and that it is, indeed, time to move on, as Saturn does equate with natural endings and Venus rules relationships. Sometimes, too, with this influence, our ambitions and goals for ourselves, which are also denoted by Saturn, come in conflict with our relationship needs and we have no choice but to make certain adjustments in our lives. Either certain goals and ambitions go, or the relationships go, etc. Too, I am only talking in a general sense here about this aspect. I have no idea what, in reality, led to George’s breakup.

With that said, George’s horoscope also suggests that he tends to be a very private and emotionally guarded person, to begin with, as he has his Moon, ruling his feelings and women, tightly conjunct his Saturn in Capricorn, the sign that Saturn rules. In general, this more complex configuration makes it easier for a person to live by themselves (bachelor), as they naturally don’t feel so compelled to share their innermost feelings with others. A large part of why we have romantic relationships is to share what we are feeling inside.

Plus, being a famous actor, he does have ample opportunity to vent his feelings on a world stage, vicariously playing different roles, and that may be enough emoting for him. Too, being so famous, he also probably needs to be a little defensive, at times, with others, to curb exploitation, gossip, etc. At any rate, I would think that Moon conjunct Saturn would despise living a fish bowl type of existence, and would vie for as much privacy as possible. George does have his assertive Mars in colorful, theatrical Leo, though, too, so he does know how to confidently handle himself and his affairs, and people will like him regardless. That planetary influence helps to make him very charismatic, especially with Mars in his fifth house of self-expression.

George’s Venus in flirtatious, “conquest-oriented” Aries, also suggests that he requires plenty of freedom in romance, and that he also ideally does best with a partner who is very independent like himself. I also, unfortunately, don’t have Elisabetta’s birth chart to see what she has going on at the moment. Anyway, I wish both of them well. Breakups are never any fun.

Enjoy your Thursday! Too, don’t be afraid to “do your own thing!” Remember, we are receiving that high-voltage prompting from Moon-Uranus today. We may even want to put on the hippie beads and bell bottoms. 🙂

Astrology April 14, 2011: “Fixer-Upper” Type Energy, Virgo Moon Trine Pluto

COSMIC WEATHER:

“If everybody contemplates the infinite instead of fixing the drains, many of us will die of cholera.” John Rich

Nothing like a “corrective, fastidious” Virgo Moon for dutifully reminding us of the undeniable fact that the world around us is in a colossal state of disrepair and chaos and must somehow be brought under immediate control, starting with the stack of dirty dishes in the sink! 🙂

Of course, this painful “Virgo drill” is anathema to the impetuous Aries energy that is also maniacally impinging upon our tender consciousness now, imploring us to “leave the dirty dishes” for another day, and to also forgo the vile vacuuming for the glorious, once-in-a-lifetime chance to roam the wild prairie with gorgeous hunk, George Clooney, who also, BTW, has “love planet” Venus in Aries, which should also account for something here.

The “tidy” Virgo Moon will additionally be making a sweeping trine to “repairing” Pluto (2:57 pm EDT). So, today, has “fixer-upper” written all over it. Got anything broken that you need repaired? Today would be a good time to tackle that project.

On another level, Moon-Pluto is also good for locating “missing objects.” A couple weeks ago, remember that cobra snake that got loose from the Bronx Zoo in NYC (it has since been named “Mia”)? Mia was found when the Moon was exactly sextile Pluto. Pluto rules snakes, it is also linked with detective work. Maybe we should try to look, once more, for that winning lotto ticket that we inadvertently threw out, a while back. Too, Pluto does denote “billionaires” and “mega-money.” 🙂

Breaking News Update (Moon-Pluto at work again in “real-life” today): With the “fixer-upper” Virgo Moon in exact trine to Pluto in “governmental” Capricorn (Pluto rules debt and taxes), the U.S. House, this afternoon, finally passed legislation to finance (Pluto) the federal government for the remainder of the fiscal year. We’re also talking “high-dollar” Plutonian financing in the billions of dollars! Way to go Moon-Pluto! And people say astrology doesn’t work. 🙂 NYTimes.com

The “Big Star of the Show,” the Sun, dashes off into “The Best Is Yet To Come” Sagittarius on November 22nd (5:15 am EST), with peppermint candy canes in its stockings and an irrepressible “come hither” twinkle in its eyes. We’re believing that life is pretty good now, yes indeed. Epecially with Mental Mercury and Manic Mars already sequestered in the outer regions of this “I Can Do All Things Because I Believe” sign for the next little bit as well.

This is the time we all get a chance to play teacher, preacher, politician, and star athlete of the week for thirty days. We’re also spinning tails about fairies and feasting on sugar plums. Life is just an all-around adventure.  All aboard! Come on little choo-choo train, you can make it. Take us all on a big, big ride. To the Moon, Alice! To the Moon!

COSMIC WEATHER:

Moon enters “Faraway Lands” Sagittarius (3:28 am EST). Imploring us to “forget about doing the laundry,” for a while.  Or, “cleaning the toilet bowl.” We’re on a cosmically sanctioned mission now to escape the clutches of our dull, strangling, daily routines.  We must find a way to passionately do whatever “lifts us up” or “inspires us” today.

The “Forward-Thinking, Philosophical” Sagittarius Moon perennially kindles our desire for adventure, and for higher wisdom and learning. The Moon’s powerful conjunction with Pioneering Mars (4:43 pm EST) also serves to, temporarily, at least, put these desires in “overdrive.”

“Love Goddess” Venus also cascades back into “Cooperative, Gracious” Libra today (10:06 pm EST), a place where she is able to, once again, express the full reign of her many social graces, minus the emotionalism and possessiveness of Scorpio, where she has resided since early September. This Venus placement should help us to “patch up our difficulties” and make any “needed amends” with others. Libra is the sign of diplomacy. Venus will stay in Libra until November 30th.

Imaginative Neptune is also stationing “Direct today” in “Brotherly Love” Aquarius, encouraging us to move “full speed ahead” with our dreams and visions, a nice pairing with today’s uplifting Sagittarius Moon.  We may also want to pay closer attention to news involving matters that Neptune rules, including the sea and oil, drugs and pharma, and spiritual matters.

Activities highlighted today: Travel, writing, publishing, promotion, advertising, philosophy, religion, sports.

Quote for Today:

“Life is unchartered territory.  It reveals its story one moment at a time.” Leo F. Buscaglia

This Date in History:

On November 7, 1967, President Lyndon Baines Johnson signed a bill establishing the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Venus, indicating “what we love,” was in “Studious” Virgo and exactly conjoined with “Breakthrough Technology Guru” Uranus, the planet that rules broadcasting.

Also, “Communicator, News Reporter” Mercury was at 2 degrees of Investigative Scorpio exactly sextile to Opportunity Jupiter at 2 degrees of Analytical Virgo.  Jupiter expands upon and broadens whatever it is aligned with, and sextile to Mercury, it voluminously spreads the news and information.  Jupiter (which rules today’s Sagittarius Moon) also acts in such a way as to, hopefully, “inspire and elevate” the level of discussion.

People in the News:

Former President, George W. Bush, is in the news again, promoting his memoir, Decision Points. Fascinatingly, a quick peek at Bush’s horoscope shows” Expansive” Jupiter at 23 degrees of Pisces, exactly conjoined his 9th house cusp, the very sector of the chart that deals with book-writing and publishing! The ninth house also rules “self-promotion” and “advertising.” (The ninth house is naturally associated with the sign of Sagittarius, which is ruled by Jupiter.)

With “opportunity” Jupiter passing through his ninth house, it is an ideal period for Bush to be discussing and explaining his “philosophy of life” (a 9th house domain) and for providing “personal context” for his past actions and strategies.

“Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?” George Carlin.

COSMIC WEATHER:

The Emotional Moon continues in “Irrepressible” Aries and is no longer “fettered” by the shackles of the “Cardinal T-Cross.” With the “Fiery, Risk-Taking” Aries Moon our spirits long for “rapid movement.” The thrill of “danger and adventure.”  We’re not just talking simply going home and vacuuming tonight, either. Many of us may want to go one step further and put our foot on the gas pedal and “speed toward our destiny” in fast cars. Aries symbolizes “speeding and racing.” Also, as a follow up to this, it rules sports cars.

Too, with the “Hot” Sun now in “Relationship” Libra and the “Love Duo” Venus and Mars, side by side in “Steamy” Scorpio, some of us may even want to do a little “riding around” looking for love, especially since the “Macho” Aries Moon also characteristically loves to later “brag about its conquests.” In particular, there’s one person up ahead of us, driving most erratically, in what appears to be a 1965 Ford Mustang, that looks very interesting to us. Let’s see if we can get them to “slow down,” for a moment, so we can “check them out.”

Have some fun today! Seek out adventure. Travel down some “new roads.” Go beyond your “usual borders.”

The Ford Mustang debuted on April 17, 1964 as a “whole new breed of car.” Mercury (ruling transportation) was stationing retrograde at 11 degrees of Taurus (Taurus rules possessions)  and exactly trining Transformational “Pluto” at 11 degrees of “I Love Detailing Work” Virgo. Pluto “passionately reforms” whatever it touches and aligned with Mercury, the “Transportation Guru,” we had a “whole new type of vehicle” to become “passionate” over.

Also helping out here, Sexy Mars (ruling speed and sports cars) was at home in “Trail-blazing” Aries, the sign that it rules, and Mars was tightly sextile to “Love Goddess” Venus (which also rules the “material things” that we love).  Additionally, Venus was in Mercury-ruled Gemini (governing transportation). “Mars sextile Venus” is the classic “signature aspect” of “falling in love,” and that’s exactly what happened with many of us with the debut of the Mustang: We immediately “fell in love” with it! A “love affair” that, for many of us, continues to this day.

Also at the time of  the debut, “Lucky” Jupiter was in “Possession” Taurus and exactly sextile to “Work Hard Enough and You Can Afford Nice Things!” Saturn in “Imaginative” Pisces. Jupiter-Saturn harmonious to each other is one of the best aspects we can have for “enduring business success,” as it gives a good blend of hard work and application (Saturn) with optimism and vision (Jupiter). Maybe another reason why the popularity of the Ford Mustang has endured over time.

“I see my path, but I don’t know where it leads.  Not knowing where I’m going is what inspires me to travel it.” Rosalia de Castro

The Moon in Sagittarius resonates to the inner explorer in each of us today. And, with Uranus now crossed over into the new frontiers territory of Aries, new desires are beckoning us.  Old dreams are rekindled.

We are not quite sure where we are headed or where we may end up.  All we know is the journey has begun.

Some of us, too, may be scared by the prospect of not knowing exactly where our path may be leading us.

However, we must know and remember that in order to truly grow and flourish with respect to our own truth, and to ultimately endure, we have to be willing to venture outside of our comfort zone, even if we only take the proverbial “baby steps” in the beginning.

And, we are not alone.  Uranus in Aries will be taking each of us by the hand and paternally guiding us along the way, whispering in our ear about new possibilities.

Of course, too, in more short-fused Aries, cantankerous Uranus’s soft whisper may turn into a thunderous shout, if we do not heed his revelations for our lives.

In current news:

The U.S. House voted Thursday to let the Defense Department repeal the ban on gay and bisexual people from serving in the military, a huge step toward ending the 1993 ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ law.

This vote came with liberator Uranus, the planet associated with gay rights and social equality issues, at the tale end of Pisces.  Pisces is a compassionate sign that is often associated with civil rights and watching over the downtrodden.

I thought the timing of this matter was rather symbolic, indicating that while equality here on this matter has been a long struggle, at the end of the day, we can finally know and trust that it is possible to indeed change the status quo, if only we keep fighting for what we believe in.

Aries also rules war and the military. With Uranus in Aries, we will now likely see the dawning of a new day whereby gays and bisexuals can proudly defend the U.S. without fear of reprisal.

What a spectacular new beginning for our country, and for the world, and what a glorious way to mark Uranus’s grand entrance into Aries.

What, of course, would be even far more glorious would be no reason for America, or for any country, to ever have to go to war again. But, will that day ever come? We’ve got to believe that it will.

Enjoy your Friday. Be the change you are seeking.
