Cosmic Weather:

Colossal traffic on the cosmic superhighway today! 🙂

The Leo Sun squares Uranus in Taurus (8:53 am) – It’s possible that we might be thrown a few curveballs with this aspect now. This influence tends to test our ability/willingness to make or accept sudden changes in our lives, including such things as tolerating simple disruptions to our daily routines or schedules.

On another level, we may find ourselves wanting to change things up in such a way that is typically uncharacteristic for us – stemming perhaps from feelings of boredom or seemingly a pervasive need for more stimulation or excitement in our lives.

Generally, Uranian energy is more roguish and rebellious by nature and often operates with lightning speed. Too, because the Sun also symbolizes, among other things, authority figures, we may find ourselves more at odds now with directives/policies issued by higher-ups or those in charge.

On a collective level, this Sun-Uranus influence also sometimes correlates with a greater chance for open rebellion, strikes, walkouts, etc. as those being ruled/employed weigh in to voice or offer up their opposition/input to things.

Additionally, on another level, some astrologers often liken Uranus’s activated ray to a period when we are privy to consciousness downloads that can raise our vibration. This is largely because Uranus is also considered the higher octave to intellectual Mercury and governs intuition.

We also have the Full Moon in (Uranus-ruled) Aquarius tonight (9:36 pm), which occurs when the Leo Sun forms an exact opposition with Luna. Overall, with this configuration, we are seeking to integrate the urge for individual expression and group expression. This may coincide with a desire for such things as social activism or involvement in humanitarian concerns.

Full Moons also deliver results, culminations, and revelations. They are also a time when our New Moon intentions are brought into manifestation.

Luna also conjuncts cautious Saturn in Aquarius shortly after this Full Moon (exact tomorrow at 1:58 am). This conjunction also re-emphasizes the ongoing Saturn-Uranus square, which symbolizes, among other things, a changing of the guard, so to speak, pitting the old established way of doing things up against the new or cutting-edge.

On another level, the more concentrated Moon-Saturn aspect also favors such things as data collection, organizing database systems, and evaluating various technologies and information.

Too, sandwiched between the Sun-Uranus square and Full Moon today,  lovable Venus will shift into playful, warmhearted Leo (2:30 pm) for a three-week stay, while initiating Mars, in soothing Taurus, will sextile transcendental Neptune in Pisces (5:44 pm), with the latter aspect, perhaps, possibly making us feel a bit like we are being taken on a magic carpet ride of sorts, with Mars-Neptune often introducing the chance for some “out of this world” or otherwise unusual type of experiences our way. We may also want to pay closer attention to any synchronicities occurring now as they might impart very special meaning to us.

“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” Lao Tzu

Heading into Monday’s Lunar Eclipse Full Moon in Leo, the energies are very strong and powerful today! We have a trio of major aspects now:

Venus in Sagittarius trines Mars in Aries ( 11:50 am): Venus and Mars are billed as the Cosmic Lovers so the prospects for romance are elevated today! 🙂 In general, this is very playful energy. A good day to simply enjoy ourselves. To engage in whatever activities are fun for us, that bring us pleasure. It’s an excellent time to express our emotions, to show others what’s in our heart. There’s a nice give and take now between the sexes. This influence helps our interpersonal relationships, overall. “Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures.” H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

Mercury conjuncts Pluto in Capricorn (3:01 pm): This is one of the best aspects for concentration! It really aids us in focusing on the matter at hand, thereby, potentially increasing our understanding. The truth is also more apparent to us now. On the flip side here, though, sometimes we can get so focused on something that it becomes an obsession with us. That can be when the Mercury-Pluto energy becomes problematic.  Yours truly was born with Mercury-Pluto in a tight square so I can personally vouch for its intensity! Mercury-Pluto can also help us to unravel mysteries by presenting us with secret information. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of detective Sherlock Holmes, was born with a tight Mercury and Pluto conjunction in Taurus.

Mercury and Pluto conjunct in Capricorn today should be especially good for any planning or organizing activities, including such things as succession planning. We’re also more willing to have conversations of a serious nature. Our words also seem to deliver more power or impact. “When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.”  Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

(UPDATE: As of today, President Trump also has reportedly banned members of Congress from traveling on U.S. government-owned aircraft during the government shutdown. An interesting Mercury-Pluto in Capricorn headline here, with Mercury ruling travel and Pluto signifying more crisis-related issues. Capricorn also rules government.)

Sun in Capricorn squares Uranus in Aries (8:30 pm): When these two heavenly bodies square off with each other, it’s always a good idea to be prepared for the unexpected! If we’re wise, we’ll also want to make sure we have Plan B ready to whip out today, just in case things don’t go as scheduled.

Sun in conservative Capricorn is more of a traditionalist at heart, usually interested in achieving things like security and status, while Uranus in Aries is more interested in trailblazing and expressing its true indviduality. So we potentially have that type of internal clash going on today. We may want to be careful, however, in not overturning things too quickly now, if we’re unhappy or dissatisfied with our circumstances. Rather it may be better to wait a few days for this more volatile energy to play out. Typically, Sun square Uranus can make us more bored with our routines, more eager for variety. “With rebellion, awareness is born.”  Albert Camus

The Moon also continues in flexible, curious Gemini today. An energy that supports the playfulness of the Venus and Mars, the mental probing of the Mercury-Pluto, and the desire for change that the Sun-Uranus is clamoring for.

*All times EST.

Famous Birthdays January 18: Cary Grant, Kevin Costner, Danny Kaye, Daniel Williams (he performed the first open heart surgery).

“Everyone wants to be Cary Grant. Even I want to be Cary Grant.” Cary Grant

This Date in History:  On January 18, 1919 the Paris peace conference ( aka the Versailles peace conference) opens to draw up the treaties formally ending the Great War (WWI). At the time, transiting Saturn was at 26 degrees of leadership Leo exactly opposite Uranus at 26 degrees of humanistic Aquarius. Mars was also at 23 degrees of Aquarius, getting ready to conjunct Uranus, and acting as a trigger for the more long-term Saturn-Uranus opposition. Regarding the symbology here, Saturn-Uranus oppositions can signal the ending of established, more rigid structures, a loss of power, and leadership lessons (Saturn in Leo). Uranus represents the rise of a new regime, or a new protocol (Uranus), ideally more reflective or responsive to the needs of the people.

Transiting Mercury in (government-ruling) Capricorn was also in an exact opposition to transformative Pluto in Cancer, that day. A similar influence to what we have going on now with the Mercury-Pluto conjunction. Mercury-Pluto aspects, as mentioned earlier, can signify times when we have to deal with more crisis-related matters; the peace treaty was being created to formally end the destructive WWI. Mercury also rules contracts or agreements.

Enjoy your day! Follow your heart’s desires.

“Learning is always rebellion.  Every bit of new truth discovered is revolutionary to what was believed before.” Margaret Lee Runbeck

The nature of life is such that it continually requires us to take ongoing leaps in the dark, or to venture down roads that we’re not altogether familiar with. Today, with the empowering Sun squaring experimental Uranus (10:53 pm EDT), the planet of change, innovation, and rebellion, it appears that we tend to thrive, or come more fully into our own now, by intentionally cultivating a love of the unknown; by deciding to tolerate or accept ambiguities; by finding a way to make peace with possibly uncomfortable outcomes or results that may not be exactly what we had originally intended or envisioned for ourselves, but which may be very valuable and necessary for our soul’s unique purpose. Lao Tzu taught that life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes, and that we should not resist them as that only causes sorrow. Always very good advice to heed, but especially for today when a wave of uncertainty seems to be on the horizon.

On another level, if we’ve been hoping for a breakthrough or a discovery, Sun-Uranus could very well deliver one. This influence also favors taking unconventional approaches to problems. Also, because this energy tends to speed things up, it may be the kind of day in which we feel more physically or mentally restless. Accordingly, allowing ourselves to deviate from our routine, might be a very good way to play the day. We also may want to get more rest and watch what we eat now, particularly avoiding, or cutting back on, food or beverages, or even activities, that over-stimulate us, or cause us to stay awake, or get too excited.

Famous People Born with Sun square Uranus: Stephen King, O. Henry, Wynonna Judd, John Ritter, Dennis Rodman, Bono, George Washington, Dustin Hoffman.

Question for Today: What is a change that you know you should make, but you’re still resisting it?

In the News: The Eurozone summit is taking place today that could pave the way for a third bailout for Greece, but the process is reportedly fraught with uncertainty. Astrologically, today’s Sun-Uranus aspect could be interpreted as accentuating or setting off taskmaster Saturn’s recent return to “debt-ruling” Scorpio, where it presently sits retrograde near the “anaretic” or last degree of the sign, a placement in which it is deemed to be operating in a more “urgent” manner.

Famous July 12 Birthdays: Bill Cosby, Malala Yousafzai, George Washington Carver, Cheryl Ladd, Richard Simmons, Christine McViie

“I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in.” George Washington Carver

Astrology June 29, 2012: Sun Opposes Pluto, Sun Square Uranus

astrology for june 29 2012, horoscope june 29 2012, investigate, Moon in Scorpio, rebellious, Sun square Pluto, Sun square Uranus, transformation

COSMIC WATCH:

“I approached everything, my job, my family, my romances, with intensity.” Gene Tierney

The Moon in probing Scorpio admonishes us to dig deeper into matters today. With the illuminating Sun also opposing secretive Pluto, Scorpio’s ruler, we have an even greater likelihood of being able to uncover and solve some of life’s perplexing riddles. Sun-Pluto is akin to shining a flashlight (Sun) into a cave (Pluto). Things that were hidden are suddenly brought out into the open and their emergence can be very telltale and transforming.

This aspect also carries with it a more intense concentration or focus of energy which helps to fill us with greater determination and ability to achieve our ends. The potential downside with it is that it can incline us to want to force matters and when that happens, we can often find ourselves suddenly meeting up with some formidable resistance. “Force is all-conquering, but its victories are short-lived.” Abraham Lincoln.

Additionally we have the Sun squaring rebellious Uranus which also tends to encourage us to defy tradition or challenge authority. Part of why we may be doing this, too, is because we are seeking greater personal freedom. We perhaps internally sense that our socialized conditioning is holding us back from expressing our true nature.

At the same time, this influence can also inspire us to be much more innovative in our daily approach to our lives. Uranus is the planet of invention and genius. Today is really an excellent day to for brainstorming and for achieving mental breakthroughs, especially since we also have intellectual Mercury in creative Leo forming an exact sextile to expansive Jupiter in curious Gemini. This Mercury-Jupiter aspect should help to unleash a floodgate of ideas for us. It is excellent for speaking and writing. It may also introduce some much needed humor or light-hearted spontaneity into our day to subdue more of the Sun-Pluto, Sun-Uranus potential drama. Mercury-Jupiter is also an ideal aspect for allowing us to see the big picture. “Nobody will ever notice that. Filmmaking is not about the tiny details. It’s about the big picture.” Ed Wood

Today may also potentially be one of the “standout days” of the year for us, because the Cancer Sun is activating the game-changing Uranus-Pluto square, forming a cardinal T-square in the sky. The cardinal t-square itself tends to make things pop. It often serves as a catalyst to galvanize us into action. Elvis, for example, was born with a cardinal t-square in his chart and we know how he shook up the music world.  We may also get a greater glimpse or preview into the general meaning or message of the long-term Uranus square Pluto influence and its implication for our lives today.

How is your “big picture” looking? What might you do now to revamp it so it becomes even more ideal for you? What big mystery would you like to crack? What would you like to break free from now? How might your conditioning be holding you back?

Famous Birthdays June 29th: Gary Busey, Fred Grandy

COSMIC WEATHER:

“I sometimes wonder whether all pleasures are not substitutes for joy.” C. S. Lewis

Interesting astrological fact: Mick Jagger and Bill Clinton are both proud Leo Suns, with their Moons in earthy, sensual Taurus. See any similarity between the two of them in terms of their personality and behavior? Remember Bill’s saxophone performance on the Arsenio Hall Show several years ago? Any shades of Mick there? 🙂

Well, the “night owl” Moon is back in Venus-ruled Taurus today, so this is a time when we may want to indulge our senses and pamper ourselves. The Taurus Moon is fond of “hedonistic” pleasures. At the same time, it is also practical and resourceful. (Taurus rules money and possessions.)

The Moon also trines “problem-solving” Pluto (10:48 am EDT), so it appears that there is very little that we cannot do today, if we but only put our minds to it and also stay cooperative (sometimes with Pluto, we try to “run the show”). Too, we still have Mick’s “start-me-up” Aries energy beaming down upon us (Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Uranus in Aries).

Later on, the “sweet” Taurus Moon forms a sexy sextile to relationship Venus (7:03 pm EDT). Definitely a time when we will want to be making a “love connection.” Power of attraction Venus helps us attract the “reality we desire.”

Famous Birthdays April 5: Colin Powell (74), late Betty Davis (103). BTW, Betty had her pioneering Aries Sun exactly square to her natal Uranus in professional Capricorn, helping to make her a “one of a kind” original.

In the News: With the Moon in “money-minded” Taurus trining “purging” Pluto, U.S. House Republicans today proposed a budget for the next fiscal year that would reportedly spend $3.53 trillion, $179 billion dollars less then the plan put forth by President Obama. It would also supposedly balance the budget by 2015. (WSJ.com) “Bulldozing” Pluto in action? Too, Pluto tends towards “extremism.”

“A baseball park is the one place where a man’s wife doesn’t mind his getting excited over somebody else’s curves.” Brendan Francis

Cosmic Word Of The Day: Curve

(Sun square Uranus. Venus sesquiquadrate Uranus.)

Curve: 1) a continuously bending line without angles  2) Baseball: a pitch delivered with a spin that causes the ball to veer from a normal straight path, away from the side from which it was thrown

Cosmic Weather:

Are you any good at catching curve balls? If so, you may have a decided advantage today, as the life-giving Sun in adventurous Sagittarius forms an exact square to high-voltage Uranus (1:48 pm EST), who is notorious for throwing us a curve ball or two to keep us alert, and on our toes.

Uranus symbolizes change, and is a master at ditching convention. Uranus encourages us to break out of our predictable molds. We likely progress now by simply going with the flow, and not staging heavy resistance to whatever changes may be coming down the pike.

Romantic Venus in intense Scorpio is also linked in a challenging aspect to Uranus. Venus-Uranus usually creates the desire for more personal freedom, as well as a need for more emotional excitement in relationships. Too, it can make us seek “unusual” connections with persons we normally would not be attracted to, and may not actually have much in common with.

Meanwhile, the Moon is in money-minded Taurus during the day, then switches to chatty Gemini (10:38 pm EST). Setting the stage for the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Gemini on Dec. 21st.

“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” Victor Frankl

News Update 12/18: With the Sun in politically-minded Sagittarius exactly square change-agent Uranus, which rules equality issues, (and square expansive Jupiter), and sextile “let’s all peacefully co-exist” Neptune, in humanitarian Aquarius, the U.S.  Senate has gone ahead and voted today to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” by a vote of 65 to 31.The Senate has now sent the bill to President Obama, who had campaigned on ending the DADT policy, which banned gays from openly serving in the military. Some may say that the Senate through a “big curve ball” today. Definitely an historic day in America. (NYTimes.com)

“They must often change, who would be constant in happiness or wisdom.” Confucius

Patrice’s “Cosmic Word of The Day”: Change

change pronounced “cheynj”

verb (used with object)

1) to make the form, nature, content, future course, etc., of (something) different from what it is or from what it would be if left alone 2) to transform or convert 3) to substitute another or others for 4) to give or get smaller money in exchange for

origin: 1175-1225 L cambire “to exchange”

Cosmic weather: With the arrival of the Summer Solstice today and the official switch in the northern hemisphere from spring to summer, there is hopeful change being served up by Mother Nature for the next three months.

This change is being made even more exciting due to the presence of innovative, but highly erratic, change-agent Uranus, who is ready and eager to greet the Sun today (via the “square aspect”) with his characteristic “mischievous smile.”

Uranus promises to change things up for us quite a bit this summer.

For example, if you’re accustomed to playing out your life’s song in the lower octaves, Uranus will likely suddenly change the score on you, so that you’ll also get a chance to know and play in the higher octaves as well.

Uranus, while more than a little quirky and unpredictable, is equated with originality and genius.  “Johnny One Note” doesn’t cut it with him. He wants us to be able to brilliantly improvise – and at a moment’s notice!

He especially longs for grand symphonic music from each and every one of us. That’s the preferred change Uranus is hoping to see from us this summer.

Let’s give Uranus our best thought, our best idea. Our best humanity. We really can change the world and, in the process, make some beautiful music together.

More cool change quotes:

“We did not change as we grew older; we just became more clearly ourselves.” Lynn Hall

“It’s the most unhappy people who most fear change.” Mignon McLaughlin

“I put a dollar in one of those change machines.  Nothing changed.” George Carlin

June 21 birthdays: Kris Allen (24), Prince William (27), Meredith Baxter (62)

Enjoy this Summer Solstice Monday!

Is that a symphony I hear?

‘Life is pleasant.  Death is peaceful.  It’s the transition that’s troublesome.” Isaac Asimov

Patrice’s “Cosmic Word of The Day”: Transition

Noun tran-zish-uhn, -sish-

1) movement, passage, or change from one position, state, stage, subject, concept, etc., to another

Origin: 1545-55  “a going across”

Cosmic weather: We are in a transition period as we get ready for the Summer solstice tomorrow and the Sun’s entrance into familial Cancer at which time it will make a tight square to Change-Agent Uranus in Aries, the sign of new beginnings.

The winds of change are starting to blow and we best be ready for them. Today is a good time to “batten down the proverbial hatches” and reflect upon both where we’ve been and where we want to go.”

Transition

It is the gap of transition that shakes us.
Those moments before true movement has been achieved,
that bring us to a level of uncertainty.
Let us embrace those moments when change has not yet come.
To see that this is a necessary moment,
before a new race has begun.
In quiet mindful moments the transition shall appear.
As we open up our hearts to hear the silence, we are now willing to hear.
To see past all the dancing of the mind,
as a friend we can lovingly leave behind.
For we are now ready to embrace a new level of tranquility,
that is reflected at a deeper level of ourselves.

As we accept change…We may move forward…Embracing all that is meant to be.

by Robin Masiewicz of Robin’s Nest

Another transition. So hopeful.

More transition quotes:

“Every chemical reaction has a transition state.” Derek Harold Richard Barton

“I had an agenda.  It was a very smooth transition.” Frank Press

“I never got to make that transition from little girl to young woman…and that really screws you up.” Natalie Cole

June 20th birthdays: John Goodman (58), Anne Murray (65)

Enjoy your Sunday!

Happy Father’s Day!

“It is not flesh and blood but the heart which makes us fathers and sons.” Johann Schiller
