The Moon in “problem-solving” Virgo all day gives us a distinct advantage regarding fixing or correcting whatever is broken or in disarray in our lives. This may extend to a desire to want to tidy up our surroundings by de-cluttering.
Lovable Venus is also conjunct wild, radical Uranus in pioneering Aries today, so the relationship sphere may hold an element of surprise or unpredictability. Sometimes this aspect can also serve as a catalyst for forging sudden, electrifying ties between people. A while back, when I was doing some astrological research, I discovered that Paul McCartney and John Lennon met for the first time on a day when Venus was conjunct Uranus in the entertainment sign of Leo. Uranus also rules change and revolt. No one, of course, knew back then that the seeds for a musical and cultural revolution were being sowed that very day with Venus and Uranus united in the sky.
“A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.” John Lennon
In the News: The Pentagon unveiled plans today that would allow women to serve closer to the front lines of combat in some new roles, including working as an infantry person in a battalion. This story is fascinating from an astrological perspective as we have the Venus-Uranus conjunction today exact in Aries, the sign of the military. Venus also governs women and Uranus is the planet of change and equality.

“Love is the magician that pulls man out of his own hat.”Ben Hecht
The planet Venus, ruler of love and money, shifts into playful Gemini today (10:24 am EDT) vacating possessive Taurus. This may facilitate more movement and flexibility in our relationships and perhaps inspire more ingenuity with respect to our money-making ability. Venus in Gemini is more intellectual than emotional in its approach, and with its placement here, in the communication sign, there can be a real love of words and a deep affection for conversation and writing. Venus in Gemini also requires that we have a strong mental bond with someone before we give our tender heart away. There is also more of a tendency to flirt or tease with this placement. Venus will stay in Gemini until July 4th which may be a romantic boon for natives of this sign.
Too, wherever Venus is transiting by house (area of life) in our personal horoscopes now is where we may see an easing of conditions and opportunity for forming positive new relationships, especially once Saturn goes direct in partnership Libra on June 12th. Venus rules our “power of attraction.” (BTW, yours truly has her lovable Venus in Gemini. I consider it to be one of my saving graces.)
Of course, very rarely is anything in the cosmos ever simple to figure out. The very same day that we have love maven Venus entering breezy Gemini, we also have assertive Mars in stubborn Taurus forming a more challenging 135-degree link (sesquiquadrate) to controlling Pluto in career Capricorn. Always with Mars-Pluto under stress, there is a risk that the hidden despot in us may try to surface (this is an aspect linked to regime changes). Accordingly, we may want to monitor ourselves more closely and be willing to rein ourselves in, at a moment’s notice, when we see that our proposals and plans for the future etc., are not going over too well and enemy troops are circling all around us. 🙂
Too, there is also the chance that we can encounter this type of controlling, forceful, or inflexible behavior through others now (maybe the boss with Pluto in authoritative Capricorn). The Moon, too, is in workaholic Virgo today (until 6:32 pm EDT).
Mars-Pluto can additionally force us to deal with broken situations in need of immediate repair. Pluto denotes destruction or decay followed by hopeful rebirth or transformation. A good day perhaps for recycling and purging. We may also want to be more vigilant with money and possession matters, and try to minimize our risk or exposure there, as Mars in dollar sign Taurus linked with Pluto potentially has financial implications.Too, we do not want to be manipulative (Pluto) now with our resources, as that could backfire on us.
The Moon enters diplomatic Libra this evening (6:32 pm EDT) and also trines lady Venus herself (7:17 pm EDT), the ruler of Libra, which may help to negate or subdue any of the coarser, testosterone-laden Mars-Pluto energy still permeating the ether. Libra, the sign of “the other,” tends to make us more social and cooperative with each other. It is the sign of peace. John Lennon was a Libra. Need I say more?
In the News: With expansive Jupiter in acquisition-minded Taurus exactly sextile to Neptune in Pisces yesterday, Exxon announced that it has made a major oil discovery in the Gulf of Mexico. Neptune rules oil. Chiron also stationed retrograde in Pisces yesterday, the sign that Neptune rules. BTW, the very day Chiron first entered Pisces in the spring of 2010, we had the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

“All charming people, I fancy, are spoiled. It is the secret of their attraction.”Oscar Wilde
The late Elizabeth Taylor and the late Johnny Cash (born just a day apart) both had their Venus (ruling love, beauty, creativity, and power of attraction) exactly conjunct high-voltage Uranus (urge for individuality) in self-expressive Aries. The Venus-Uranus conjunction is often the hallmark of charismatic individuals with unique talents and gifts (and often striking appearances). We have this very same aspect today in Aries for the first time in over 75 years (10:29 pm EDT).
This Venus-Uranus influence can also make us crave more emotional excitement in our relationships and also in our pleasurable pursuits (ruled by Venus). Too, we are possibly more inclined to forge ties (Venus) with more non-conforming (Uranus) types, or to people we normally would not be attracted to. Venus-Uranus is also known for having sympathy for those who are perceived as “underdogs,” and this aspect often figures in prominently with the emergence of “gay rights” issues in the news.
Additionally, Venus-Uranus has a legacy of spawning “sudden infatuations” and instant “electrifying” relationships. Interestingly, John Lennon and Paul McCartney also met on a day when Venus was conjunct Uranus in entertainment Leo. Of course, we all know what transpired from that union. So, today could be filled with a lot of exciting possibilities for us, if we mingle. Too, this is a fantastic aspect for any creative endeavors.
Meanwhile, the Moon enters ambitious Capricorn (6:26 am EDT) today, kindling our desire to get ahead on the career front. The Moon’s square to rebel Uranus (10:34 am EDT), however, could create some fallout for us, if we try to rock the boat too much. Also, if we are too greedy for power, we could encounter some opposition when the Moon conjuncts controlling Pluto (7:52 pm EDT). At the same time, however, this aspect could be a potent time for networking, as Pluto can denote important “movers and shakers.”
Too, with the Venus-Uranus influence exact today, we may want to consider “altering our appearance,” such as maybe trying out a new hairstyle, or adding more pizzaz to our wardrobe (perhaps something ‘electric blue’ for Uranus).

Cosmic Word Of The Day: Gripping
(Mercury, Mars, Pluto, North Node conjoined in Capricorn. Venus sextile Pluto.)
Gripping: 1) the act of grasping; a seizing and holding fast 2) a grasp, hold, or control 3) mental or intellectual hold
“A convergence of ‘gripping energy’ continues to unfold around us. We’re all sort of like sitting ducks for the next few days, held hostage to it. 🙂
One bright spot: There’s no need to spend any money on movie tickets to watch high action-packed dramas, when we have so much suspenseful adventure occurring around us now, on a daily basis, free of charge.
Fortunately, thanks to our knowledge of astrology, we can at least take some refuge in blaming most of the seemingly implosive events and turmoil that we are hearing about so much in the news now, on that dark little guy P-L-U-T-O, who is sitting cozily on his dethroned throne, with rare, warm assist from clever Mercury, warrior Mars, and the “let me point you in the direction of your karma, kiddies” North Node. All these players are singularly holed up in the sign of governmental, big business Capricorn.
Pluto’s, no doubt, been waiting for this captivating, ‘dream team’ Capricorn line-up, for quite a while, considering he’s such a power-monger and control freak. He’s no doubt loving the so-called ‘David and Goliath showdown’ playing out in the collective between WikiLeaks and governmental bodies, and now also big business (MasterCard, Visa, Paypal, Amazon, etc) is becoming roped into this scenario, with the arrival of gung-ho, soldier boy Mars into Capricorn. Capricorn really denotes authority figures and other high-profile types, in general. Basically, anyone who wields power over others, or at least, dreams of doing so. Too, with Capricorn, we’re thinking about our legacy, and the length of our obituary.
Then we also have, of course, prominently figuring into the equation here, the matter of Santa Claus Jupiter conjunct ‘hi-tech’ Uranus, in behind the scenes, ‘you’ll never be able to catch me’ Pisces, getting its seeming ‘encrypted code’ jollies. Generous Jupiter’s apparently putting rebel Uranian hackers under all of our holiday trees this season, thanks to dictatorial directives from Pluto and the rest of the gestapo gang in Capricorn. Maybe it’s because we’ve been too naughty this year? I just want to know one thing: Whatever happened to plain old Barbie and Ken dolls, and electric trains, as gifts?
Jupiter conjunct Uranus is associated with genius. The U.S. put a man on the Moon with this same exciting influence. But, now it also has the zealous hacker connotation to it, and the “freedom of speech at all costs” battle cry. Or, in other words, I’ll bust your cookie jar and steal all your cookies, and leave you only a few crumbs, if you don’t let me air your dirty laundry in public. Cranky Uranus has to have its freedom, loves being a law unto itself. No matter that there are billions of us here on planet Earth, and we all need to somehow figure out how to peacefully co-exist. Why can’t we make love, instead of waging computer war games?
The last couple days have also been emotionally very gripping with the death of beloved Cancerian, Elizabeth Edwards, and now also word that Aretha Franklin is suffering from pancreatic cancer. (Get well, Aretha.) We also had the very sad memorial for John Lennon yesterday, marking the 30th anniversary of his senseless death.
Too, even Oprah Winfrey was poignantly captured on tape yesterday, shedding some tears, during a Barbara Walters interview discussing her deep friendship with her best friend, Gayle King.
Simultaneous to these latter, personally gripping events, we have had relationship Venus in Scorpio (sign of death, rebirth, and crisis) sextile Pluto (Scorpio’s ruler), an aspect that often pulls at our heartstrings and tears at our emotions in unprecedented ways. With Venus-Pluto, we become deeply aware (Pluto) of the potentially awesome power of love (Venus), and its life-altering impact on our emotions. This Venus-Pluto influence will still be around for a few more days. We better continue to keep some Kleenex close by.
Still also not a peep out of George Clooney, either! We were hoping that he might come around with the magical Venus-Pluto. Yes, George is also worth at least two or three Kleenex. Looks like another bleak Saturday night’s on tap for us. Do you think that it could be that George is just shy, and that’s why he doesn’t connect with us? He does have his distant Capricorn Moon conjunct serious Saturn. Saturn maybe subdues him emotionally, and maybe does make him a little bit shy. ‘George, no need to worry. We’ll be gentle with you.’
Also today: The Moon enters emotionally detached, cerebrally-minded Aquarius (2:32 am EST), perhaps providing us with a better chance to momentarily glean rational, cooler perspective on everything that’s going on, and try to make sense of some of the mad theater playing out on the world stage, before Mercury does its thing and goes ‘rogue retrograde’ tomorrow until December 30th.”
“Being a singer is a natural gift. It means I’m using to the highest degree possible the gift that God gave me to use. I’m happy with that.” Aretha Franklin.

Below is a post that I wrote in March 2010 about John Lennon and Yoko Ono‘s wedding horoscope. (They married March 20, 1969). In wake of the 30th anniversary of his death today, I thought I would re-run it. Missing you, John.
“When people get cynical about love, they should look at us [Yoko and John Lennon] and see it is possible.”Yoko Ono.
March 20, 1969 marks the 41st wedding anniversary of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. The colorful pair married in front of the Rock of Gibraltar in a ceremony that lasted only ten minutes. Shortly afterwards, the newlyweds flew to Amsterdam, Holland where they set up quarters in the Presidential Suite at the Hilton. There, for one week, they had the first of two “bed-ins for peace.”
At the hotel, they had a receiving line for the press, gave interviews, answered questions. Not your typical honeymoon fare activities, but then again, John (Libra) and Yoko (Aquarian) were never your “typical couple.”
In their astrological wedding chart that day (time unknown), insatiable Jupiter was exactly conjoined non-conforming Uranus in Libra. Libra is the zodiacal sign of marriage. This potent influence suggested that their partnership would always tend to be “out of the ordinary.” Having these two planets prominent, there would characteristically be a large appetite (Jupiter) and enthusiasm for doing things differently, wanting to rebelliously break with tradition (Uranus), within the confines of their marriage (Libra).
The Sun was also opposite (stressful) Jupiter and Uranus in their horoscope, again reiterating a need for freedom and a tendency to excessive behaviors. The Sun-Uranus influence also, unfortunately, hinted at the chance for a sudden end to the marriage, as the nature of Uranus is often disruptive. The Sun also governs the husband in a wedding chart.
Mercury (communication) was in idealistic, imaginative Pisces. That tended to intellectually attune them more to the humanistic issues of the collective. The Neptune-ruled Pisces mindset, at its highest expression, is intrinsically about dissolving all boundaries, demonstrating selfless love and compassion for each other, peacefully co-existing. It endlessly envisions the world “as one,” just like John perpetually sang about.
Also in their marriage chart, the Sun (purpose) was exactly trine (harmonious) Neptune, again reinforcing that same hopeful theme. The Sun-Neptune tie also gave the union more of a mystical, otherworldy quality to it. Neptune denotes our link to the Divine.
Too, in wake of John’s tragic, sudden departure from the world, Yoko’s marriage to John has maybe, understandably, ended up becoming something “larger than life” for her, something that she has perhaps idealized and placed atop a pedestal. Characteristically with Neptune, we tend to worship and glorify our partners. And, of course, in Yoko’s case, she has had to live a life largely minus John’s physical presence. She maybe has cultivated a rich “spiritual union” with him which would be consistent with the “illusory” Sun Neptune energy. Neptune rules illusion and imagination, as well as the ethereal realms.
Idealistic Mercury in Pisces was also square (inner tension) to opinionated Mars (the warrior) in Sagittarius in the chart. Mars shows our enthusiasms and passions. It also represents our aggressive urge. When it is in philosophical Sagittarius, we can become almost fanatical in our beliefs and often feel a deep need to proselytize others to bring them aboard our same wavelength. We can also be very controversial and blunt in our comments, as Mercury governs our speech and Mars in Sagittarius acts very spontaneously.
Additionally, in their wedding chart, Venus, the planet of love and marriage, was in fiery, adventurous Aries conjoined with dutiful Saturn. Venus-Saturn ties often indicate “karmic relationships” in which we feel a deep sense of responsibility, obligation, and loyalty to each other. Saturn is regarded as the “Lord of Karma” in astrology. This is because he often brings us those more difficult lessons in life that we need to learn and experience in order to evolve and achieve our higher purposes. During the course of their marriage, too, John and Yoko had plenty of Saturnian ups and downs, trials and tribulations, and even an 18-month separation. Too, in the beginning, their very union alienated them from the public and many Beatles’ fans. But despite everything, it managed to endure.
On another level, the Venus placement in the sign of Aries showed, too, that the couple would tend to enjoy “active pursuits” and “pioneering endeavors” that would garner attention to themselves. Venus not only rules love relationships, it also rules what we love to do. Aries as a sign focuses much of its attention on its own self-identity and self-discovery.
Actually, Venus in Aries can contain elements of narcissism to it – making us a little too much enthralled with our own self-image. Of course, when John and Yoko were together, they were both young and still discovering themselves, both individually and as a couple. And, they were both very famous, so they wanted to naturally capitalize on their fame and use it as a springboard to further their more noble, impersonal causes for the collective.

Beatles release Beatles also dubbed the White Album, the group’s only double album. It was called the White Album because it did not have any text or graphics on it, only the word “Beatles” on a plain white backdrop.
Many of the songs in the double album showcase experimentation with music from a hodgepodge of unexpected genres including 1930s dance hall music and chamber music. At the time, the usage of these diverse styles into one album was pretty unprecedented on the pop music scene. Most of the songs were reportedly inspired during transcendental meditation sessions with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in Rishikesh, India in the spring of 1968.
John Lennon’s female companion and artistic collaborator, Yoko Ono, was also present with him for the first time in the recording studio for the production of the album, something that would later become more and more commonplace.
Eric Clapton played lead guitar on George Harrison’sWhile My Guitar Gently Weeps. Other songs in the White Album: Dear Prudence, Back In The U.S.S.R., and Revolution 9. In 2003, the album was reportedly ranked number ten on Rolling Stones list of “The 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time.”
When the White Album was released on Nov. 22nd, Expansive Jupiter in Artistic Libra was tightly conjunct Genius Uranus in the sky, with Uranus serving as a chief instigator of the Counterculture in the 60s. Mental Mercury was also conjunct Mystical Neptune, who was seriously meditating away with the Maharishi, too, in Probing Scorpio. Energizer Mars in Creative Libra was also exactly square to Libra’s ruler Venus in Business Capricorn, another indicator of artistic expression.
With Dream Big Jupiter conjoined Rebel Uranus, there is often a deep need to “experiment” and “change things up.” Perhaps why we have the merging of the different musical genres on the double album. Uranus symbolizes the wacky scientist experimenting in the laboratory. Too, with Jupiter-Uranus, Jupiter characteristically acts as a big cheerleader for the latter, goading him on in his constant quest for “new significant breakthroughs.”
The Illuminating Sun had also just entered Adventurous Sagittarius that day, just like today. It was harmoniously sextile to both Jupiter and Uranus, acting as a “trigger” to that planetary duo’s more “non-traditional” or “oddball” brand of creativity.
We also have Jupiter conjunct Uranus again now, this time in Neptune-ruled Pisces, a creative sign also associated with musical and artistic achievement. Just last week, with Jupiter getting ready to station direct in Pisces, Apple announced that its iTunes service would start selling Beatles music. Interestingly, too, when the White Album was being recorded, the Beatles were simultaneously debuting their new “Apple Corps,” a multimedia business enterprise. Seems what goes around, comes around.

John Lennon and Yoko Ono appear nude on the cover of the “Two Virgins” album. Adventurous Mars – ruling the assertive urge – is exactly conjunct rebel Uranus in marital Libra, also the sign of the public. Venus-ruled Libra is also associated with artistic expression.
With Mars conjoined Uranus there is thought to be more of a tendency for us to want to break the rules, with Uranus symbolizing freedom of expression. Mars also governs our sexuality, and paired with non-traditional, freedom-loving Uranus, there is potentially an increased proclivity to want to innovate or experiment here.
The emotional Moon that day was also in theatrical, “Drama Queen” Leo, the sign of entertainment.

The Night Owl Moon switches from Mystic Guru Pisces to Race Car Driver Aries (11:24 am EDT) at which time we may want to proceed warp-speed ahead with our agendas. The Aries Moon is all about taking action, conquering new frontiers. Needless to say, today is not the time to be a cozy little “couch potato,” sitting around watching Oprah. But rather a time to “go out and do!” Later on, though, we may need to avoid power struggles with the Moon’s square to Controlling Pluto (5:39 pm EDT).
Mental Mercury, governing our thoughts and ideas, also joins Venus and Mars in Probing Scorpio for a three-week run. With Mercury in Scorpio, our thinking becomes deeper as we set about solving some of life’s greatest mysteries. Scorpio is the sign of the zodiac that deals with life, death, and rebirth issues. Mercury in Scorpio is keenly able to solve long-standing riddles and cleverly figure out “who dunnit plots.” We may also begin to get real clarity on those issues in our lives that may have been perplexing us for a while.
Mercury in Scorpio’s style tends to be “all or nothing.” When it examines something, it either gives it its full undivided attention or neglects it altogether.
Pioneering Mars in Resourceful Scorpio is also harmoniously trine Philosophical Jupiter in Pisces. This is, classically, a powerhouse aspect for social, religious, and political activism. We can make notable progress toward our goals and dreams today, and if there is something that we really “believe in,” this is the time to “go for it,” especially with the Moon in adventurous Aries.
The Sun in Relationship Libra is also in a more challenging quinqunx aspect to Quirky Uranus in Pisces. We could encounter some skeptics, or otherwise “oddball types” (Uranus) who want us to justify our actions to them. However, we shouldn’t let others derail or intimidate us now. Especially with Mars trine to Jupiter, “nothing’s gonna stop us now!”
Activities favored today: new beginnings, rebirth and renewal efforts, medical and scientific research, wills and estate matters, psychic development, spying and espionage, investigation, reviewing insurance matters, intimate sexual encounters, holistic healing, religion, social and political activism, treasure-hunting.
Quote for Today:
“Chase down your passion like it’s the last bus of the night.” Terri Guillemets
On October 20, 1968, former “First Lady”Jackie Kennedy weds wealthy Greek shipping magnate, Aristotle Onassis. Aristotle’s private island “Skorpios” in the Ionian Sea is the site for this historic event.
In Jackie’s and Aristotle’s “wedding chart” that day (time unknown for the service), Venus, the Goddess of Love and Marriage, was in Possessive Scorpio and in an “out-of-sign” sextile to Non-conforming Uranus in Marital Libra. When Venus is aligned with Uranus we often see “unusual pairings” taking place. Venus-Uranus is often “non-traditional” and tends to bring about alliances between very different kinds of persons. When Frank Sinatra met Mia Farrow, for instance, he had Venus-Uranus prominent in his chart. Venus-Uranus craves excitement and embraces relationships that are “out of the norm.” Additionally, Paul McCartney met John Lennon when Venus-Uranus was exact in the heavens. It can be an aspect of “sudden attraction.”
Interestingly, Jupiter, the traditional planet of “good fortune and abundance,” was also in a tight conjunction to Pluto. Pluto is associated with “mega-money,” especially when aligned with “lucky” and “expansive” Jupiter. Jupiter and Pluto were in Practical, Dutiful Virgo and harmonious to Sea-Faring Neptune in the sign of Joint Resources Scorpio (Aristotle’s wealth was from Neptunian-ruled shipping). It has been reported that a main reason Jackie married Aristotle was out of a need for privacy and security for her children, which would fit the practical, stabilizing Virgo-Scorpio energy.
Venus, at 29 degrees of Scorpio, was also separating from a Glamourizing, Idealistic conjunction with Neptune at 25 of Scorpio. With Venus-Neptune, there can be a lot of fantasy and make-believe at the core of the relationship, as Neptune is the ruler of our imagination and dreams. Venus-Neptune relationships are often hard to “see clearly,” as Neptune characteristically looks at romance through “rose-colored glasses.” Venus-Neptune tends to “idolize the partner,” sees him or her as a “savior.” Venus-Neptune relationships can sometimes contain “martyrdom” elements to them as well, as Neptune often denotes ego-denying experiences. Sometimes, Venus-Neptune is indicative of marrying someone “on another wavelength.”
Also, in Jackie’s case, Venus-Neptune literally symbolized a “romance involving aspects of the sea,” as Aristotle made his livelihood from the sea.
Venus additionally was at an “anaretic degree” of Scorpio (meaning the last degree of a sign), which can signal a “sense of urgency” to the relationship and romance. (Too, in a few years, Jackie would later end up a “widow,” with Scorpio the sign of “transition.”)
Jackie, who was a proud, charismatic Leo with a Private Scorpio rising and an Adventurous Aries Moon, also had in her personal horoscope then, Stabilizing Saturn transiting at 21 degrees of Libra exactly trine to her natal Venus at 21 degrees of Gemini. Venus also rules her 7th house of marriage. With Venus-Saturn, we often forge relationships with older individuals (which Saturn denotes) and often these relationships are based on security needs. Venus not only rules relationships it also rules money. Saturn was also getting ready to move into Jackie’s twelfth house of seclusion, a period when we often seek a “personal retreat” from the outside world.
Aristotle, an Ambitious Capricorn with a Travel-Happy Sagittarius Moon, had transiting Jupiter and Pluto in Virgo exactly trine to his natal Venus in Capricorn in his horoscope when he married Jackie. Venus-Pluto can represent a “transforming passion” in our lives, and it sometimes synonymous with “bringing us our soulmate.” (Pluto denotes past lives.)

The Sentimental Moon leaves Idealistic Libra for Intense Scorpio (3:52 pm EDT) turning up the volume on our emotions.
Communicator Mercury conjuncts Serious Saturn in Relationship Libra (7:36 am EDT) inclining us to seek out substance over frills in our interactions. With Mercury-Saturn, we want our words to carry maximum weight and impact.
Saturn, by itself, characteristically endows us with a strong sense of duty and responsibility. Saturn represents the work ethic and achievement. Mercury-Saturn, on the shadow side, can also trigger our fears and awareness of our personal limitations. With Saturn, we tend to be more acutely aware of our boundaries, our sense of separateness.
Venus, ruling money, art, beauty, music, romance, relationships, all the things that we love, also turns retrograde in Probing Scorpio today (3:05 am EDT), the sign of life, death, and rebirth. With Venus retrograde here, we are seeking “deeper” connections. Deeper ties to both our past and present, and also, correspondingly, a more palpable sense of our own continuity and purpose. (Venus will be retrograde until November 18th.)
Symbolically, our lives are like great “Venusian works of art” in progress. Venus retrograde prods us to revisit and remotely observe some of what we have already painted or sculpted. We listen, once again, to the old songs that our hearts composed earlier. We maybe recollect past relationships, retrace some of the kisses and hugs, recall some of the sorrows, awkward moments, the warm laughter that we shared together. The “retro viewpoint” can help us to garner new wisdom, insight, and inspiration about what we are currently facing and creating in the present moment with our lives. The past is essentially the yardstick we leverage to define ourselves and calculate our evolution.
Sometimes, too, Venus retrograde brings old lovers, old relationships, back into our lives.
On another level, with Venus retro in Scorpio, we are also more symbolically and theoretically linked with “great artists who have transitioned” beyond the Earth plane (Venus rules artists and performers). Scorpio energy connects us with”transitioning experiences.”
Just yesterday, for example, I got a telephone message from a friend telling me she had just lost her pet bird after 16 years. In my horoscope, Mars, the Great Activator or Trigger of events, was exactly conjunct my 8th house cusp in Scorpio, when I heard the news. This house is associated with “endings” and death. My friend, who lost her bird, also has Pluto (Scorpio’s co-ruler) now exactly conjunct her 8th house cusp at 2 Capricorn.
Interestingly, Mental Mercury is now conjunct Karma Lord Saturn, in John Lennon’s old sign of Libra, making this perhaps a more fitting time for us to mentally revisit and ponder the huge legacy that John, in particular, bequeathed to us. (It is John’s birthday, October 9th, and many events have been planned around the world to mark the event.)
Mercury-Saturn often denotes a mental focus on the past, on our roots or foundation. Sometimes this energy is also layered in with a touch of melancholy and sadness, due to Saturn’s heavier vibration and natural focus on loss and limitation. John would have been 70 years old tomorrow. John’s widow, Yoko Ono, will light the Imagine Peace Tower in Reykjavik, Iceland in his memory. Below is a link to the “Imagine Peace Tower Documentary.”

“Mysticism and exaggeration go together. A mystic must not fear ridicule if he is to push all the way to the limits of humility or the limits of delight.” Milan Kundera
Moon leaves Verifiable Virgo for Idealistic Libra (5:02 am EDT). Love Goddess Venus is in the Private Parts of Scorpio. Sex Lord Mars is in Relationship Libra and forming an exact harmonious trine to Mystical Neptune in Let’s All Get Along Aquarius. Holy Jupiter and Humanistic Uranus are melodiously chanting away in Spiritual Pisces.
“All of a sudden, we are madly turned on by mystics, and finding celibate monks, very sexy.”
(Mars-Neptune can represent “platonic-type” relationships.)
On This Day in History: On September 9, 1971, John Lennon releases his “Imagine” album. Warrior Mars is stationing direct in Humanitarian Aquarius harmoniously trining Futuristic Uranus (ruler of Aquarius) in Peace-Loving Libra. “Mars-Uranus” in the air signs is all about ushering in a “new social order of the day.”
Mental Mercury is at 29 degrees of Entertaining Leo, a critical degree of creative self-expression, exactly squaring Expansive Jupiter at 29 degrees of Transformational Scorpio (another “turning-point” degree). Mercury was also squaring Dreamy Neptune, just one degree away from Jupiter, at 0 degrees of Optimistic Sagittarius. The intellectual milieu or mindset of this day (Mercury) was very ambitious and lofty (Jupiter conjunct Neptune). Concerned with focusing on the “unifying big picture.”
A Jupiter and Neptune conjunction is always, at its noblest, a very mystical, inspirational time, if not somewhat surrealistic, as Jupiter rules the urge for expansion and Otherworldly Neptune rules the expression of the divine. We are theoretically able to channel in “the most splendid way,” our higher impulses, when this particular aspect is in effect. Neptune also symbolically represents a “dissolution of all boundaries,” effectively “living as one,” which is what “Imagine’s” lyrics are, of course, centered around.
Needless to say, the energy in the sky, the day the “Imagine” album was released, was ideally very “conducive” for the manifestation of “peaceful conditions,” and for contemplating the “imagined dawning” of a new “brotherhood of man.” With the album released on that day in time, too, those energies of that time period will always be connected, or “celestially stamped,” with the “Imagine” album, similar to how a horoscope works for an individual.
Interestingly, the “Mars-Neptune” energy that we have today is similar to the energy that we had back then. It’s very transcendent and powerful in nature. Mars serves to aggressively activate and fuel the Neptunian portals of our imagination, and also provides us with a deep longing and desire for inclusion into the perceived “higher realms,” where we all purportedly live and move “as one.” This Mars-Neptune energy is also extremely creative, in addition to being very spiritual. Fascinatingly, John Lennon also had “Mars conjunct Neptune” in his personal horoscope and was born under the sun-sign of Libra, “the peacemaker.”
“You may say that I’m a dreamer. But I’m not the only one.” John Lennon (Mars-Neptune)
NEWS UPDATE: With Warrior Mars exactly trining “Sea-Ruling” Neptune, U.S. Marines boarded and seized control of a German ship south of Yemen today, that had earlier been captured by Pirates. High adventure playing out on the sea!
