Cosmic Weather:

The reserved Capricorn Moon is in its Waxing Crescent phase and gearing up for its monthly meetup with subterranean Pluto (at 12:51 pm). What has been hidden or concealed may now suddenly emerge, including possibly deeply buried emotions. Certain select skeletons in crammed closets could also be enticed to put in a rumpled appearance or two. Also, a good time for purge projects.

“The skeletons of the past must not hold back the dream of a new life, even though fear and regret, guilt and remorse may unsettle us during the effort to give our future a new home. – Erik Pevernagie

Later tonight, Luna will also shift into forward-thinking Aquarius (10:03 pm).

*All times EST.

On This Day in History: On November 9, 1966, John Lennon meets Yoko Ono at an avante-garde art exposition at Indica Gallery in London. Indica Gallery was a counterculture art gallery in London in the mid-1960s. Fascinatingly, Paul McCartney happened to be one of the supporters of the gallery, at the time, and actually hosted the showing of Yoko Ono’s artwork there when John and Yoko met that destiny-packed  November day. (Yoko Ono has often been characterized as the person responsible for the break-up of the Beatles.)

Astrologically in the sky, back then, the vitality-generating Sun, romantic Venus (also the planetary ruler of art), and dreamy Neptune were conjunct in passionate, intense, all-or-nothing Scorpio. Energizing Mars, awakening Pluto, and unconventional Uranus were also conjunct in astute Virgo – and sextile to all three of the Scorpio planets – stoking the possibility of unusual, out-of-the-ordinary type pairings suddenly taking shape. The time was also ripe for romantic idolizations, fantasy-weaving, creativity.

“A dream you dream alone may be a dream, but a dream two people dream together is a reality.” Yoko Ono.

Born Today: American Astronomer Carl Sagan (Nov. 9, 1934 – Dec. 20, 1996).

“The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff.” Carl Sagan.

Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Cosmic Weather:

“The most confused you will ever get is when you try to convince your heart and spirit of something your mind knows is a lie.” Shannon L. Adler

Oh, boy! We get to start out our Monday with the waxing Moon in “keeping it real” Capricorn, the sign ruled by judgemental Saturn. Meaning, it’s also report card time when we formally have a chance to grade ourselves on our scintillating, academy award-winning performances (Sun in Leo), as of late, and decide whether or not they’re taking us to where we want to go, or need to be. Capricorn’s all about “less fluff, and more stuff!”

Thankfully, too, since we’re all presumably adults here, it’s not required that we actually have to show our report cards to our spouses, mates, friends, neighbors, etc. unless it’s something that we willingly want to do (most likely for bragging rights, of course, if we’ve been doing a good job).

Generally, when the transiting Moon’s in earthy Capricorn, we crave the security of organization and tried-and-true structure around us. We also tend to take greater pride in our work and reputation and are more inclined now to seek out recognition (and well-deserved pay raises!) for our mighty efforts.

The Capricorn Moon will also be having its notable, monthly meetup with “power broker” Pluto, this evening (6:11 pm). This more intense emotional energy normally predisposes us to go after our desires with increased gusto, passion, focus or purpose. It also potentially has a strong healing or transmutational vibe to it. On the shadow side, it can coincide with overly assertive power plays or manipulative behavior. Moon-Pluto is nearly always a perfect time to do de-weeding, to take out the trash, recycle or renovate, perform archeological digs, do channeling, investigate, have psychotherapy, take or review X-rays (part of checking what is hidden below).

Numerologically, today (8-12-2019) reduces down to both a “3” and a “5”. The “3” aspect suggests some reverence for traditionalism or history; it can also incline us to want to ambitiously climb to the top of the totem pole! The “5” element injects an impulsive quality to the day, and a changeability.

*All times EDT

On This Day in History: On August 12, 1972, the last American combat troops leave Vietnam.

Astrologically, that day, Mars (ruling war and the military) was at 29 degrees of dominant Leo (a critical degree) and exactly forming a waning trine to philosophical, politically-oriented Jupiter Rx at 29 degrees of Sagittarius (the sign which rules foreign lands and cultures). The Mars-Jupiter waning trine also perhaps allowing us then to more broadly see or grasp the “bigger picture” view/outcome/result (Jupiter Rx) of our “militaristic actions” (Mars) in Vietnam. Pluto, representing shifts in power, was also newly-installed in diplomatic, peace-seeking Libra then, at 0 degrees of the sign.

“Television brought the brutality of war into the comfort of the living room. Vietnam was lost in the living rooms of America — not on the battlefields of Vietnam.” Marshall McLuhan

Hope it’s a good one!

“It’s not always that we need to do more but rather that we need to focus on less.” Nathan W. Morris

With the Waning Moon in productive Capricorn, this is an excellent day to finish up projects centered around our real-world ambitions. The Moon’s conjunction, mid-morning (10:33 am), with conservationist Saturn, also, ideally, adds to our ability to focus on exactly what’s in front of us, while at the same time allowing us to rally or gather our unique reservoir of wisdom, experience, and know-how and configure all these elements together to our advantage in a positive way. Kind of like a Master Chef at work in a kitchen carefully concocting a sublime dish by knowing exactly what to put in it, how to cook it, serve it, etc. Later, the Moon’s conjunction with intense, excavating Pluto (3:48 pm) poises us to want to feel things on a deeper level, emotionally. This aspect can also connect us with elements of our more distant past.

On This Day in History: On April 25, 1953, Francis Crick’s and James Watson’s discovery of the double helix structure of DNA is published in “Nature” magazine.

Astrologically, on that day, pioneering Mars was exactly conjunct expansive Jupiter in matter-ruling Taurus at 26 degrees. (Jupiter also governs publishing.)

Whenever Mars and Jupiter pair up there is characteristically an abundance of enthusiasm, hope, and optimism in the air. Accordingly, we are not only much more excited about our future prospects then, but we can also make notable strides or advances towards it.

Hope you enjoy your Thursday!

“It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.” Leonardo Da Vinci

Today’s Energy:

The waxing Moon continues its journey through “ambitious” Capricorn for the entire day. The Moon remains in Capricorn through late Thursday afternoon (5:41 pm).

The Moon’s monthly meetup with “insightful” Pluto (2:23 pm) works to shine a spotlight on our deeper feelings, or hidden motivations. This is also excellent energy for purging, recycling, or refurbishing projects. Sometimes, too, it ends up that we only discover our deepest needs or desires after we have managed to eliminate all the clutter or miscellany around us. Karen Kingston, author of Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui, says the desire to possess things comes directly from the ego. “Your spirit already knows you own nothing. It is a matter of realizing that your happiness does not depend on your ownership of things. They help you in your journey but they are not the journey itself.”

Intellectual Mercury is also quinqunx Pluto today. This can put more passion and intensity into our communications; however, we may need to watch out for becoming too obsessed with an idea.

Astrology July 3, 2012: Full Moon in Capricorn

astrology for july 3 2012, full moon in capricorn, horoscope july 3 2012, illumination, mars enters libra, Moon conjunct Pluto, Moon square Uranus, relationships, Venus sextile Uranus

“Often people attempt to live their lives backwards: they try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want so that they will be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first be who you really are, then, do what you need to do, in order to have what you want.” – Margaret Young

COSMIC WATCH:

Full Moons provide us with a chance for full illumination. They are also a time when we are urged to let go of whatever is holding us back. Today’s Full Moon in ambitious Capricorn (2:52 pm EDT), the sign associated with outer achievement, affords us a chance to see how we are honoring our inner self (Cancer) by our life’s work (Capricorn). Or maybe through an avocation.

With today’s Full Moon conjunct perceptive Pluto, we will likely be receiving some kind of feedback about how our present outer path is or is not aligned with what we sense is our soul’s special destiny. Pluto’s activated ray can be very insightful as it helps us to experience what is at our inner core, with Pluto governing our subconscious side. Pluto is also thought to be connected to our past lives, so there could be elements from our karmic past now that are unfolding around us that we should maybe be paying closer attention to.

The Moon-Pluto conjunction may also fill us with a deeper sense of our own power, along with corresponding knowledge of what we must do for ourselves now if we are to continue to progress in the world as our soul originally intended. This Full Moon is also supplying us with a chance perhaps to do some tweaking or revising (Pluto) of our worldly goals and ambitions. Moon-Pluto, at its highest expression, can be very healing and regenerating, but sometimes the playing field must first be leveled for the healing and rebirth to take place.

We may also be receiving fresh insights now into the impact of our early roots (Cancer) upon our lives in the present. This could be due to certain incidents occurring around us that ignite our memories. Also, with rebellious Uranus squaring this Full Moon we may become keenly aware of a need to move beyond some of our early conditioning (Cancer), especially with respect to what we were maybe taught about what was or was not possible for us to achieve in the world (Capricorn).

Enterprising Mars, the planet of initiative, is also shifting into diplomatic Libra today, the sign of “the other.” What this suggests is that we can likely achieve much more now by working together, in the coming weeks ahead, instead of flying solo on our own. “If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself.” Henry Ford

There may also be some exhilarating things happening for us on the personal relationship front as this lunation is also housing lovable Venus in sextile aspect to electrifying Uranus. A time when sudden romance can crop up in the most unexpected of places. “If grass can grow through cement, love can find you at every time in your life.” Cher

The house in our chart that contains the Full Moon in Capricorn is the area of our life that is likely reaching a culminating point for us now. It is also that part of our lives where we may want to be emptying ourselves of what is no longer useful to us. This can also include ridding ourselves of attitudes and self-limiting beliefs that no longer serve us. The Full Moon’s impact lasts two weeks till the next New Moon.

How do you define success? What do you sense that you were born to do? What are you most proud of accomplishing? What one thing do you still want to achieve more than anything else in your life? How do you think the people in your life are helping you to realize your destiny? What could you do to help others to succeed now?

Happy Full Moon blessings!

Astrology December 24, 2011: New Moon In Worldly Capricorn

astrology for december 24 2011, Don't Ask Don't Tell, first kiss between female sailors in Virginia Beach, goal setting, Jupiter stationing direct in Taurus, long term planning, Moon conjunct Pluto, new moon in capricorn december 2011, power struggles, prosperity

COSMIC WATCH:

New Moons usher in new beginnings. The New Moon in “practical, worldly” Capricorn, on December 24th (1:06 pm EST), is a perfect conduit for any of our long-term planning and goal-setting. Ideally, Capricorn energy infuses us with extra capacity to function in a structured environment in a more disciplined manner. A flowing trine to the lunation from “optimistic” Jupiter also helps to put us in a more “can-do” spirit while mapping out our direction for the year ahead. Abundant Jupiter is also stationing direct in prosperity-minded Taurus, on Christmas Day, gloriously giving us the “cosmic green light” to move forward with our exciting itinerary and plans.

This last New Moon of the year also forms a square to “innovative” Uranus suggesting that we have a chance to break free now from ruts or bottlenecks, especially if we are willing to incorporate, or at least consider, new methods or alternatives. A potent conjunction to “insightful” Pluto also helps us to get really clear on our intentions. It may also serve to strengthen our passions and desires in a transformative way.

We will also want to make a conscious intention of working cooperatively with others now versus getting embroiled in any power struggles. Sometimes, on the shadow side with Moon-Pluto, we can get a little too full of ourselves and that can incline us to want to exert extra influence in the world. Sometimes we also do this in a manner that disregards, or does not take into consideration, other people’s needs and desires. Too, Capricorn is a very authoritative sign to begin with.

“No one can whistle a symphony.  It takes a whole orchestra to play it.” H.E. Luccock

Famous People with Moon in Capricorn: Annie Lennox, Cher, Brad Pitt, George Clooney (still love you, George!)

New Moon in Capricorn Affirmation: “Life loves me and always rewards me generously for all of my noble efforts.”

In The News: It’s being dubbed “the kiss heard around the world.” Earlier this week, two female U.S. sailors won the honor of the traditional “first kiss” on the pier (in Virginia Beach, Virginia), upon returning home after being away at sea for 80 days. The pair reportedly nabbed the privilege after partaking in, and winning, a raffle drawing in which sailors bought $1 tickets to raise money for military members’ children. Navy officials said it was the first time that a same-sex couple celebrated the “first kiss.” This “first” was also made possible with the recent repeal of the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.

What makes this incident very fascinating, from an astrological perspective, is that Venus, the planet that also governs women and romance, had just entered “unconventional” Aquarius and was making an exact, harmonious sextile to Uranus in Aries, the planet that governs equality issues and matters involving individual rights. Aries is also the sign that happens to rule the military.

Happy New Moon blessings! Also, may you and your loved ones enjoy peace, love and joy this holiday season and all year ‘round. Looking forward to being with you here in the new year.

Namaste,

Patrice Thompson

COSMIC WATCH:

“A young man without ambition is an old man waiting to be.” Steven Brust

The Moon’s entrance into professionally ambitious Capricorn (1:59 am EDT) bolds well for a comeback for “Dull Boy Jack” today. 🙂 The practical Capricorn Moon phase is generally a time when we become more serious and disciplined about our work and wanting to get ahead. We attempt to maximize our resources and look for ways to increase our efficiency.

There are three potential lunar hot spots to watch out for, however, as the Cardinal T-Square is being temporarily activated today, and that can make us feel more internal pressure or restlessness (too we are still coming off of the high-energy Eclipse energy from yesterday) :

Moon square “rebel” Uranus (9:36 am EDT), when we are duly advised not to replicate Johnny Paycheck’s mighty effort (sang Take This Job And Shove It), unless we have a sure backup plan. Moon conjunct “despot” Pluto (1:23 pm EDT) at which time we might possibly consider launching a coup d’etat in the boss’ office, although again, this impulsive strategy could backfire on us, especially on pay day, when there is no one around to sign our paltry check. Moon square “denying” Saturn in conjugal Libra (8:24 pm EDT) when it is strongly suggested that we try not to indiscretely mix our love and work interests.

Again, the Cardinal-T Square activation does not have to be bad, it can be a highly creative period when we are challenged to perform at our best level. For instance, singer Elvis Presley, a Capricorn Sun, was born with a Cardinal T-Square in his chart and he did pretty good for himself. Most people on the planet have heard of Elvis and have listened to his music.

The main thing today is to stay focused, organized, and on task with what it is that we want to accomplish. The best way to do this, too, is to write down our objectives on paper, beforehand, and then hold ourselves accountable for completing them at the end of the day (“reality based” Saturn-type behavior – Saturn rules Capricorn).

Mental Mercury is also shifting from “chatty” Gemini to “let’s make some Hallmark Card memories” Cancer (3:09 pm EDT). With Mercury in sentimental, familial Cancer our emotions filter more into our thinking and there is greater sensitivity to what’s being said and also what’s not being said. It’s a more psychic or intuitive placement, although it can make us somewhat moodier (Cancer the Crab).

News Update: With the activation of the Cardinal-T-Cross today (which often necessitates our taking action on important issues), and on the heels of yesterday’s eclipse, it is being reported that Anthony Weiner (D-NY) is poised to resign today from his post in the U.S. Congress, in the aftermath of the “sexting” scandal. I have not personally looked at his horoscope, but understand that he is a Virgo Sun. Often times with eclipses, especially solar eclipses (which we had June 1st and will have again on July 1st) we have public figures “falling from power” (an eclipsing of position).

Too, we just had Karma Lord Saturn turn direct last week in congressional Libra, which can be a “payback time” for our past efforts, good or bad. I personally wish Weiner well and hope he is able to get his life back on track for himself, and for his family, in the future. We all make mistakes.

Weiner Press Conference Update: Anthony Weiner reportedly entered a press conference room this afternoon at 2:21 pm EDT to formally announce his resignation from office. Fascinatingly, Karma Lord Saturn in Libra was conjunct the 12 degree Libra Ascendant then, indicating the more serious nature of the event (at least for Weiner). The Ascendant reveals the “current atmosphere or conditions.” Saturn is linked with karma because it is the planet associated with accountability.

Too, the Capricorn Moon was in the third house of communication (fitting placement for a press conference) and separating from an exact conjunction with intense, purging Pluto which governs death and rebirth, and the conference was dramatic and a “death” of sorts for the congressman, as he was resigning from his prestigious position in which he wielded formidable power (Pluto). There was also some loud heckling going on in the background as Weiner spoke at the press conference. Pluto can often bring about vociferous, heated opposition (the hecklers actually tried to hijack the press conference and did a pretty good job of it, similar to the coup d’etat I wrote about in my horoscope today).

Interestingly, Pluto is also linked with sexual issues and or transgressions. Also obsessive-compulsive behavior. Reportedly, too, included in the heckling were some derogatory remarks of a sexual nature.

COSMIC WEATHER:

“All charming people, I fancy, are spoiled. It is the secret of their attraction.” Oscar Wilde

The late Elizabeth Taylor and the late Johnny Cash (born just a day apart) both had their Venus (ruling love, beauty, creativity, and power of attraction) exactly conjunct high-voltage Uranus (urge for individuality) in self-expressive Aries. The Venus-Uranus conjunction is often the hallmark of charismatic individuals with unique talents and gifts (and often striking appearances). We have this very same aspect today in Aries for the first time in over 75 years (10:29 pm EDT).

This Venus-Uranus influence can also make us crave more emotional excitement in our relationships and also in our pleasurable pursuits (ruled by Venus). Too, we are possibly more inclined to forge ties (Venus) with more non-conforming (Uranus) types, or to people we normally would not be attracted to. Venus-Uranus is also known for having sympathy for those who are perceived as “underdogs,” and this aspect often figures in prominently with the emergence of “gay rights” issues in the news.

Additionally, Venus-Uranus has a legacy of spawning “sudden infatuations” and instant “electrifying” relationships. Interestingly, John Lennon and Paul McCartney also met on a day when Venus was conjunct Uranus in entertainment Leo. Of course, we all know what transpired from that union. So, today could be filled with a lot of exciting possibilities for us, if we mingle. Too, this is a fantastic aspect for any creative endeavors.

Meanwhile, the Moon enters ambitious Capricorn (6:26 am EDT) today, kindling our desire to get ahead on the career front. The Moon’s square to rebel Uranus (10:34 am EDT), however, could create some fallout for us, if we try to rock the boat too much. Also, if we are too greedy for power, we could encounter some opposition when the Moon conjuncts controlling Pluto (7:52 pm EDT). At the same time, however, this aspect could be a potent time for networking, as Pluto can denote important “movers and shakers.”

Too, with the Venus-Uranus influence exact today, we may want to consider “altering our appearance,” such as maybe trying out a new hairstyle, or adding more pizzaz to our wardrobe (perhaps something ‘electric blue’ for Uranus).

Famous Birthdays April 22: Jack Nicholson (74), Glen Campbell (75).

Happy Earth Day! Enjoy your weekend!

COSMIC WEATHER:

“Seduction is always more singular and sublime than sex and it commands the higher price.” Jean Baudrillard

The Moon continues in “grounded” Capricorn urging us to apply “common sense” to our feelings and emotions. Although, the Moon’s monthly conjunction to “controlling” Pluto (11:49 am EDT) could pose a few challenges for us if we venture outside of our boundaries and try to exert too much pressure or influence on others.

This is an excellent “purge” aspect, though, so venting could be a good thing now, if done in a mindful fashion that does not unduly alienate or involve mud-slinging or the re-opening of old, hurtful wounds. Pluto is associated with the subconscious and under its activated ray, things buried deep inside of us tend to rise to the surface for review.

Also, it’s a great time to recycle or declutter on the home front or at the office. Perhaps one of the premier times of the month to do so. On the other hand, treasure-hunters may want to do some antiquing, as Moon-Pluto can be favorable for unearthing “rare jewels.”

Connection queen Venus also forms a tense, 135-degree aspect to “withholding” Saturn in partnership Libra (5:04 pm EDT).  We may feel a little more cut off or blocked in expressing our feelings. Saturn sometimes coincides with giving a voice to our fears.

However, this low feeling may not linger too long, as we also have love maven Venus conjuncting magical Neptune (9:40 pm EDT), a time when we are more inclined to “idealize love.” Putting our lover on a pedestal or making great “sacrifices” for the sake of love, may be part of our mindset now, as Venus-Neptune can be a very seductive, alluring influence. We do need to be mindful of the fact, though, that “all that glitters” may not be gold. Because, on the shadow side, “spell-binding” Venus-Neptune can be deceptive. We are also more emotionally vulnerable now.

Also, new people that come into our lives may be on a “different wavelength” from us. This influence has been known to produce some rather “odd pairings.”

Too, with Neptune symbolizing our link to the divine, Venus-Neptune, at the highest levels, can equate to “selfless love,” or an ability for demonstrating deep compassion and sensitivity with others. Therefore, it’s an excellent time to do charitable work or to dole out good deeds. It is also a very creative influence, perfect for any artistic renderings or performances, including dancing, as Neptune rules the feet.

Venus also moves into Neptune-ruled Pisces tomorrow, so today is sort of a “test-run” for possible things to come. Venus stays in Pisces until April 21. (Refer to my Venus in Pisces blog post for more details.)

COSMIC WEATHER:

The Moon vacates visionary Sagittarius for utilitarian Capricorn (9:04 am EST). The Moon in Capricorn is an excellent time for strategic planning.  Too, with the dynamic New Moon in Aquarius coming up on Wednesday, this is an ideal period to devise detailed action plans to put into effect with the New Moon. This New Moon is very powerful as it conjoins pioneering Mars. (See my earlier blog on this lunation.)

The Moon today forms an exact square to Jupiter (11:53 am EST). Moon square Jupiter tends to give us a big head and can also make us more extravagant. It’s best to avoid excesses now. Unless, of course, they involve George Clooney. 🙂

Later the Moon conjoins control freak Pluto (9:02 pm EST). We may want to avoid issuing ultimatums now. Moon-Pluto tends to bring out extremes in behavior. On the plus side, this aspect can give us potent ability for solving riddles and mysteries.

“All genius is a conquering of chaos and mystery.” Otto Weininger
