COSMIC WATCH:
New Moons usher in new beginnings. The New Moon in “practical, worldly” Capricorn, on December 24th (1:06 pm EST), is a perfect conduit for any of our long-term planning and goal-setting. Ideally, Capricorn energy infuses us with extra capacity to function in a structured environment in a more disciplined manner. A flowing trine to the lunation from “optimistic” Jupiter also helps to put us in a more “can-do” spirit while mapping out our direction for the year ahead. Abundant Jupiter is also stationing direct in prosperity-minded Taurus, on Christmas Day, gloriously giving us the “cosmic green light” to move forward with our exciting itinerary and plans.
This last New Moon of the year also forms a square to “innovative” Uranus suggesting that we have a chance to break free now from ruts or bottlenecks, especially if we are willing to incorporate, or at least consider, new methods or alternatives. A potent conjunction to “insightful” Pluto also helps us to get really clear on our intentions. It may also serve to strengthen our passions and desires in a transformative way.
We will also want to make a conscious intention of working cooperatively with others now versus getting embroiled in any power struggles. Sometimes, on the shadow side with Moon-Pluto, we can get a little too full of ourselves and that can incline us to want to exert extra influence in the world. Sometimes we also do this in a manner that disregards, or does not take into consideration, other people’s needs and desires. Too, Capricorn is a very authoritative sign to begin with.

New Moon in Capricorn Affirmation: “Life loves me and always rewards me generously for all of my noble efforts.”
In The News: It’s being dubbed “the kiss heard around the world.” Earlier this week, two female U.S. sailors won the honor of the traditional “first kiss” on the pier (in Virginia Beach, Virginia), upon returning home after being away at sea for 80 days. The pair reportedly nabbed the privilege after partaking in, and winning, a raffle drawing in which sailors bought $1 tickets to raise money for military members’ children. Navy officials said it was the first time that a same-sex couple celebrated the “first kiss.” This “first” was also made possible with the recent repeal of the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.
What makes this incident very fascinating, from an astrological perspective, is that Venus, the planet that also governs women and romance, had just entered “unconventional” Aquarius and was making an exact, harmonious sextile to Uranus in Aries, the planet that governs equality issues and matters involving individual rights. Aries is also the sign that happens to rule the military.
Happy New Moon blessings! Also, may you and your loved ones enjoy peace, love and joy this holiday season and all year ‘round. Looking forward to being with you here in the new year.
Namaste,
Patrice Thompson
