COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon is in practical, utilitarian Capricorn today potentially empowering us to “get it done.” The focused Capricorn Moon ideally endows us with more of a sense of duty and discipline. It can also serve to rocket our ambitions.

The Moon’s square to limiting Saturn in balancing Libra (2:53 pm) may also possibly find us wanting to discard whatever is non-essential in our lives. Although we may find that tossing aside or shrugging off aspects on the relationship front could get a little messy or complicated. It may be better to strive for cooperation and understanding instead.

We may also wish to detach from our sensitivities and not take any criticism to heart. Or, for that matter, not dish any out!

The Moon-Saturn energy is thought to be more separatist in nature and can possibly find us defensively erecting boundaries in a bid to wall others out. Sometimes we can do this, too, in the guise of biting or hurtful remarks.

The ambitious Capricorn Moon suggests that we may want to put our attention on career or business concerns today. The placement of the Moon in this Saturn-ruled sign tends to make us more practical or utilitarian in our daily approach.

Also, a fortuitous trine aspect from the Moon to optimistic Jupiter (4:50pm EDT) in financial Taurus may bring along with it some tangible rewards our way or opportunities to shine. Assertive Mars in self-protective Cancer is also making a creative quintile aspect to Jupiter, upping the ante on our enthusiasm and courage.

COSMIC WATCH:

The Moon stays in “responsible” Capricorn all day, the sign of career, reputation and status, encouraging us to focus on business and practical concerns. The Moon’s trine to expansive Jupiter in money-ruling Taurus (10:17 am EDT) may also present us with a chance to put more green in our pockets with Jupiter being the planet of goodwill and opportunity. It is an excellent time for growing our network or for making cold-calls or prospecting.

Later in the day, with the Moon’s square to restrictive Saturn in relationship Libra (4:34 pm EDT) “flying solo” likely offers us the most dividends. That strategy may also help to preserve the peace.

Famous People with Moon in Capricorn: Lucille Ball. “Lucy” would have turned 100 on August 6th, last week. The cosmic energy of today is actually somewhat similar to what Lucy had in her horoscope, as she was a creative Leo Sun, with the personally ambitious Capricorn Moon, and her Moon was sextile to Jupiter in Scorpio, the sign of shared resources. The Moon also rules the public, with favorable Moon-Jupiter aspects helping to frame positive relationships with others. Of course, we all “loved Lucy.”

Jupiter, which also rules our sense of humor, was at the very top of her chart in her career house. Too, Lucy was not only a grand comedian she was also a very astute business person. She  had her “maternal” Moon conjunct a Capricorn Ascendant, helping her to perhaps materially prosper from her television role as a beloved wife and mother. The Ascendant is the window from which we view the world. It is also how other people see us.

Remember the “I Love Lucy” episode when Ethel and Lucy went to work in that chocolate factory and both were standing behind that conveyor belt trying to box the chocolates? Definitely my favorite episode.

Astrology April 22, 2011: “Sudden Infatuation” Venus Conjunct Uranus

The late Elizabeth Taylor and the late Johnny Cash (born just a day apart) both had their Venus (ruling love, beauty, creativity, and power of attraction) exactly conjunct high-voltage Uranus (urge for individuality) in self-expressive Aries. The Venus-Uranus conjunction is often the hallmark of charismatic individuals with unique talents and gifts (and often striking appearances). We have this very same aspect today in Aries for the first time in over 75 years (10:29 pm EDT).

This Venus-Uranus influence can also make us crave more emotional excitement in our relationships and also in our pleasurable pursuits (ruled by Venus). Too, we are possibly more inclined to forge ties (Venus) with more non-conforming (Uranus) types, or to people we normally would not be attracted to. Venus-Uranus is also known for having sympathy for those who are perceived as “underdogs,” and this aspect often figures in prominently with the emergence of “gay rights” issues in the news.

Additionally, Venus-Uranus has a legacy of spawning “sudden infatuations” and instant “electrifying” relationships. Interestingly, John Lennon and Paul McCartney also met on a day when Venus was conjunct Uranus in entertainment Leo. Of course, we all know what transpired from that union. So, today could be filled with a lot of exciting possibilities for us, if we mingle. Too, this is a fantastic aspect for any creative endeavors.

Meanwhile, the Moon enters ambitious Capricorn (6:26 am EDT) today, kindling our desire to get ahead on the career front. The Moon’s square to rebel Uranus (10:34 am EDT), however, could create some fallout for us, if we try to rock the boat too much. Also, if we are too greedy for power, we could encounter some opposition when the Moon conjuncts controlling Pluto (7:52 pm EDT). At the same time, however, this aspect could be a potent time for networking, as Pluto can denote important “movers and shakers.”

Too, with the Venus-Uranus influence exact today, we may want to consider “altering our appearance,” such as maybe trying out a new hairstyle, or adding more pizzaz to our wardrobe (perhaps something ‘electric blue’ for Uranus).
