“I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can’t see from the center.” Kurt Vonnegut
COSMIC WATCH:
Coming on the heels of yesterday’s “empowering” Sun trine Uranus, today we have “intellectual” Mercury trining Uranus, in “pioneering” Aries (10:44 pm EST), as both the Sun and Mercury are pretty much moving in tandem through “futuristic” Sadge, at the moment. In general, Mercury-Uranus aspects help to “speed up” our thought processes. They can also activate our Uranus-ruled intuition spawning exhilarating “aha moments.” Uranus, the planet of change and innovation, is regarded as the “higher octave” or “higher expression” of Mercury, which represents our thoughts, ideas, and communication. Uranus is also linked with genius or brilliance, originality, and what could be characterized as more “radical-type” perceptions.
Needless to say, today is an excellent time to consciously “stretch our mental horizons,” which we could attempt to do in a myriad of ways, such as, perhaps, reading or immersing ourselves in the works of great writers, thought leaders, scientists, philosophers, etc. It’s also a perfect period for brainstorming, or for “out of the box” problem-solving. Too, Mercury-Uranus can serve to align our thinking with ideas or gleanings about what is “best for the collective,” or “society as a whole,” as Uranus, the ruler of “group-oriented” Aquarius, poises us to naturally think of the broader impact of things, and not just about ourselves.
This is also the first full day of Mars in “experimental” Aquarius. Mars is also involved in a creative “quintile aspect” with Uranus, seemingly making, today, even more “cutting edge,” in many ways. Quite fittingly, the first test flight of NASA’s Orion spacecraft launched successfully, this morning, from Florida’s Cape Canaveral. While today’s “unmanned” flight reportedly carried a cookie from Sesame Street’s Cookie Monster, future launches are expected to carry people to asteroids, the Moon, and hopefully – even to Mars – if all goes as planned. Pretty exciting – and all very Uranian-sounding! When man first landed on the Moon, “fortuitous” Jupiter was exactly conjunct Uranus at 0 degrees of Libra. Mars was also sextiling this conjunction from 2 degrees of “travel-related” Sagittarius. The signs Sagittarius and Aquarius are both related to space travel.
Question for Today: If you could swap places with any of the great figures in history, for a day, who would you select?
