Cosmic Weather:

A First Quarter Moon occurs in reflective Pisces today (1:59 am). This phase of the Moon (when Luna squares the Sun) normally requires us to take some sort of action in order to solidify or strengthen our New Moon vision or intentions. However, with the Moon also conjunct ethereal Neptune this morning (10:18 am), the modern-day ruler of Pisces, there could be a bit of inner uncertainty or confusion on how best to proceed. This also brings to mind what Benjamin Franklin once said: When in doubt, don’t!

Meanwhile, we could also come to a new awareness today that what we’ve been believing or assuming is the truth (Sun in Sagittarius) may be much more nuanced (Moon in Pisces) than we originally thought.

Numerologically, today is also a “four” day, suggesting a keen desire to lay down a foundation (such as the First Quarter Moon also implies). Guess we just need to be careful that we’re not building “castles in the air!” 🙂

Cosmic Weather:

Today there’s a tendency to enthusiastically/optimistically take on more (Jup in Sag) than we can effectively handle, manage, or digest (Mars in Vir) so we need to be careful. Too, depending upon our level of zeal or passion for something, we may also be more inclined to make bold, sweeping changes, moves, or statements now, likely in a bid to assertively advance our cause(s). Our personal beliefs and/or personal philosophy of life might also be areas that we feel we must protect, defend, or explain now. That said, we can still probably get a lot accomplished today especially if we’re strategic, have a plan at hand, and remain mindful about what we’re committing to.

Meanwhile, the Moon also shifts into dreamy, transcendent Pisces, this morning, (5:51 am), in preparation for the upcoming Full Moon in Pisces on Saturday.

Hope it’s a good one!

“Dreaming about being an actress, is more exciting then being one.” Marilyn Monroe

Very interesting day in the cosmos! Intellectual Mercury is conjunct serious, ‘Doubting Thomas’ Saturn in Capricorn, expansive Jupiter in Sadge is square fantasy Neptune in fishy Pisces, and the changeable, fluctuating Moon is in restless, action-packed Aries! Yours truly is also writing this blog literally in the dark, by flashlight only, as where I live we’re currently experiencing an ice storm and my house has no power or electricity. All I can say is, “Thank God for Wifi!

So, I’ll try to be brief and to the point here (communicator Mercury is, after all, conjunct stingy, ‘less is more’ Saturn!) – and before my laptop dies, which could be any minute! Today is a time when we may experience some measure of confusion or disillusionment, especially with respect to our dreams, ideals, beliefs, philosophy of life, and expectations (Jupiter-Neptune). It is also easier for us to be misled or hoodwinked, not just by others, but also by ourselves! In other words, it appears that nearly all the collective is operating somewhat in the dark now, metaphorically speaking, and not just moi! (I just love the synchronicity at play here, don’t you?) While Jupiter-Neptune can be seemingly inspiring to us, to some degree, it also does have a legacy of being associated with going overboard, being extravagant, mismanaging or wasting our resources, becoming addicted to pleasures or legal, illegal substances.

We’re actually very fortunate to have that practical, grounded Mercury-Saturn conjunction in aspect today, as a counter to the more disorienting, undermining Jupiter-Neptune energy, as it is probably one of the best planetary influences for providing us with a solid, hands-on reality check. Good for planning and organizing. Optimally, Mercury-Saturn symbolizes discernment, concentration, wisdom, disciplined thought. All qualities that we’re potentially more sorely in need of now as we attempt to navigate through all the fog!

On another level, it’s also possible with the Mercury-Saturn conjunction that we hear more serious news today that ends up putting us into a more reflective mode. On the shadow side, Mercury-Saturn is often linked with despair or depression. Also a scarcity, or fear-mongering mentality.

Anyway, Jupiter square Neptune will also return twice more this year in June and September. So the drama continues. Stay tuned! 🙂

“The more clearly we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the universe about us, the less taste we shall have for destruction.” Rachel Carson.

Enjoy your Sunday! Good luck flying close to the ground today in your oh so pretty ruby red slippers! 🙂

Astrology February 27, 2015: A Time to Pause? Moon enters Cancer

“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” C.G. Jung

COSMIC WATCH:

Footsteps 2

We’ve all heard: Three steps forward, two steps back. I believe, today, with the Moon entering its home turf of “protective” Cancer (7:50 am EST), and forming a late day trine to “reflective” Neptune (9:59 pm EST), which is still involved in the latter stages of that annual, dreamy conjunction with the Sun, in “transcendent” Pisces, we’re pretty much into that “two steps backward” phase of our journey now. Feeling a need to chew upon our latest moves, or forays into the world.

Some of us, too, may have launched a lot of “rockets of desire,” as of late, with both Mars and Venus entering “initiating” Aries. Too, anytime we put new things into motion, shortly afterwards, if not immediately, we begin to feel the consequences of that activity, and that activity almost always ends up impacting us, to some degree, on an energetic level.

For example, as you may have noticed, I’ve been trying to blog here with more regularity, and have been doing so for more than a week now (it started with Mars applying to a conjunction with my 2 degree Aries Ascendant). But, I must confess, this activity has already come at somewhat of a cost to me. While I like the notion of challenging myself to create something “out of nothing,” the downside of doing this, nearly daily, is that it also routinely requires a good chunk of both my mental and physical energy, time, etc. – yadda yadda yadda. 🙂 So now, with the assist of the “self-nurturing” Cancer Moon, if I’m a smart cookie, I may want to take a moment out here, to weigh the “pros and cons” of this very “self-humbling” endeavor. And, likewise, you may want to do the same thing, with regard to what you’ve recently thrown up onto the canvas of life – to see if it makes sense for you to continue along this trajectory, in the same manner. Or, maybe you – as well as I – will both discover that we need to implement some immediate, corrective, generous self-care measures – a bit of tweaking of things – to stabilize or sustain our spirit, as well as preserve any remaining portion of our sanity and good humor.

Also, before the “maternal” Cancer Moon harmoniously trines Neptune, tonight, she’s going to square “assertive” Mars in Aries (7:41 pm EST) the warrior planet, suggesting that we may be a little tempted to come out of the self-imposed hibernation mode to consider flexing our muscle, for a flash. Especially if we discern the behavior’s warranted because we’re being taunted, bullied, etc by maybe the dog, the television, or our lovable in-laws. The testosterone laden Moon-Mars aspect is often associated with defensive posturing or maneuvering.

Also, “expansive” Jupiter, governing our beliefs, optimism, and personal philosophy is quinqunx “reconfigurating” Pluto, today. This rather off-kilter influence may inspire us to temporarily revisit some of our beliefs about things, especially those self-limiting beliefs that may be sabotaging or undermining our own interests, or otherwise interfering with our self-growth, in some manner. Too, isn’t it funny how we frequently can get in our own way, and never even know it at the time? Often, the only way we ever even become cognizant of this fact is that an event will occur, or we’ll get sick, etc., and then, all of a sudden, we’re gifted with this amazing, remarkable clarity of how we’ve been keeping our self small due to our convoluted thinking. “You never know how much you really believe anything until its truth or falsehood becomes a matter of life and death to you.” C.S. Lewis

COSMIC WATCH:

“If you don’t stand for something you will fall for anything.” Malcolm X

With assertive Mars exactly opposite truth-seeking Jupiter today, it is possible that we may feel more compelled to share with others what is true for us at our very core. Waxing philosophically or pontificating about our beliefs is very possible and can also be a very energizing and insightful outlet for us now, as long as we also allow others the same right to their own beliefs or opinions.

On the shadow side, Mars-Jupiter can occasionally incite sparring over religion, spirituality, politics or the law. This is usually due to an over-zealousness on our part, and or the belief that we hold a monopoly on the truth.

Additionally, Mars-Jupiter can inspire us to more risk-taking. Especially since we also have the Moon in adventurous Aries today and the Sun quinqunx to experimental Uranus. Again, though, we would be wise to thoroughly calculate the impact of any potential moves before engaging in any new actions. Too, the Moon is void of course all day.

Mental Mercury is also applying to a square to psychedelic Neptune, which is exact on Monday. This can be an aspect of confusion or illogical thinking. However, on the flip side, it can be very good for activities that utilize our creative imagination, as Neptune rules the power of visualization.

Lovable Venus also shifts into her home sign of social, refined Libra today where she will reside until November 22nd. Hopefully, this positioning will help to foster more of a cooperative spirit among us all and a rejection of uncouth behavior. “Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Astrology November 25, 2011: New Moon Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius

astrology for november 25 2011, beliefs, eclipse november 25 2011, education, excess, legal, moon quinqunx jupiter, New Moon in Sagittarius, new moon november 25 2011, travel

COSMIC WATCH:

There’s a New Moon / Partial Solar Eclipse on November 25th in adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius, putting a spotlight on the various areas associated with this sign: philosophy and our belief systems, religion, politics, publishing, higher education, the law, foreign cultures, and long-distance travel. The New Moon Eclipse is occurring at 2 degrees 37 minutes of Sadge (1:10 am EST).

New Moons traditionally usher in new beginnings, while the more highly-charged eclipses tend to “speed things up,” allowing us to “leapfrog” into the future at a seemingly much faster clip than during a standard New Moon. For example, things that we were maybe expecting to happen at a certain point, down the road, may suddenly be occurring now, at a much earlier timetable than anticipated.

Too, even though a New Moon puts a focus on new starts, there can also be abrupt endings that occur around the time of an eclipse. Or at the very least, feelings of finality, involving some events or situations in our lives.  We will want to pay attention to what house (area of life) in our personal horoscopes that the eclipse is falling in for possible clues to where some of this “transitioning” may be occurring, along with noting the planetary aspects this lunation is making in our charts. Eclipse points remain activated zones in our horoscopes for up to six months, although we usually feel their impact within a few days, either side of the event.

This New Moon Eclipse in Sagittarius is forming a flowing trine to liberating Uranus in spontaneous-acting Aries. This also suggests more of a positive receptivity, on our part, to change and discovery. Also, this bodes well for our being able to to adaptively roll with whatever may suddenly manifest for us with this eclipse. Uranus also rules our intuition, originality, and talent for innovation and invention. Accordingly, we may feel more inspired now to “do our own thing.” Expressing or articulating our opinions and points of view, as well as perhaps trying to rally others over to our way of thinking, may also be included here, with Sagittarius often harboring a mean evangelistic streak. It is the sign of preachers, after all. And politicians! It may be interesting, too, to pay more attention to the protest movements, in the collective, to see if they pick up more steam now. Also, there could be notable events occurring now in the world of politics, maybe even certain politicians exiting (eclipse) the scene. With Sadge also ruling publishing, we might want to eye what titles are being released now, especially if any of them might be game-changers for the collective.

Hopefully, too, with Uranus’s brilliant ray involved, we will also see some major scientific / technological feats, debuts, or discoveries around eclipse time. Uranus rules both  science and technology. With the long-distance travel sign of Sagittarius also involved, perhaps this will include astronomical discoveries or breakthroughs. Too, it could be that we experience personal breakthroughs (Uranus) in our consciousness now regarding our beliefs or higher purpose. Also, we may be able to problem-solve in a more “out of the box” way with the issues going on around us. We should at least challenge ourselves to do so now. Also, the inspiration of Uranus will often come to us as sudden flashes of intuition, so we may want to make sure that we quickly jot down our genius revelations when they appear, lest we soon forget them.

On the shadow side, what we may want to avoid doing now, with this eclipse, is making wholesale changes in our lives for the mere sake of change, without having a clear strategy in mind.  We may also need to carefully consider the consequences of our actions, in advance, so we don’t inadvertently self-sabotage ourselves. Too, the New Moon Eclipse is forming an awkward quinqunx aspect to exaggerating Jupiter in Taurus, the natural ruler of Sagittarius, which can easily incline us to overreach, overpromise, overindulge, and overspend, if we are not mindful.

With communicator Mercury, governing our thinking, also in retrograde phase in Sagittarius, during this eclipse, we are urged to double-check, triple-check, even quadruple-check all of the facts or details in matters, especially with regards to any travel plans, meetings, contracts or agreements. Too, the eclipse is widely square to impulsive, assertive Mars, which can also, on the negative side, scatter our focus and make us somewhat brazen or uncompromising. Of course, we do not have to venture down any of those prickly paths, if we consciously choose to stay on target with our more noble intentions and goals and act responsibly, with consideration for others. Cultivating and maintaining a keen mind-body awareness can also help us out here. When we pay close attention to how our body is feeling and functioning, in conjunction with our thoughts and our environment, we usually intuitively know when we are veering off course, or perhaps getting in over our head, or acting inappropriately. Our body rarely ever lies to us.

“Emotion always has its roots in the unconscious and manifests itself in the body.” Irene Claremont de Castillejo

Compatible activities or avenues of expression for the New Moon / Eclipse in Sagittarius: Teaching/ lecturing/ attending seminars, registering for new classes; writing and or self-publishing; learning new languages; socializing with people from other cultures; involvement with advertisement/PR campaigns; sales and cold-calling; self-promotion; involvement with politics and social causes; taking stands with respect to one’s beliefs; foreign travel; studying world religions; partaking/leading worship or church services; galloping with Trigger into the wild blue yonder at sunset 🙂

Scientific News Update 11/25/11: On the eve of this Solar Eclipse, which happened to trine “breakthrough” planet, Uranus, it was reported yesterday (published in Nature) that scientists have sequenced the genome of a widespread pest, the “spider mite.” The genome is reportedly the smallest arthropod genome sequenced so far.  The “spider mite” is a major cause for house plants turning yellow and getting sick. It reportedly costs $1 billion to control the spider mite annually.

Cosmic Word Of The Day: Fanatic

(Mars square Jupiter)

Fanatic: 1) a person with an extreme and uncritical enthusiasm or zeal, as in religion or politics

“To start out the work week, we have ‘manic’ Mars in ‘truth-seeking’ Sagittarius square to ‘preacher’ Jupiter in ‘which way to heaven’ Pisces (9:51 am EST).  This fanatical configuration tends to fire up our beliefs and get us on our soapbox.

Too, Love Goddess Venus leaves ‘play nice’ Libra for ‘sexual healing’ Scorpio, sending many of us off on a ‘horizontal mission.’

Meanwhile, the spotless Virgo Moon is reminding all of us that while preaching and sex may be fine and dandy, at the end of the day, what may matter most is how much vacuuming did we manage to get done today?  And, did we vacuum with zeal and passion? If not, why not? 🙂

“Fanatics in power and the funnel of a tornado have this in common – the narrow path in which they move is marked by violence and destruction.” Oscar Otlund

Mars in Sagittarius square Jupiter in Pisces is exact on Monday, November 29th, 2010 (9:51 am EST), although this very potent influence is already applying and will be felt even for a few days after its exact.

At its noblest, Mars square Jupiter can galvanize us to take “heroic action.” Mars, the planet of energy and adventure, can signify “acts of courage” and “bravery.”  Aligned with expansive Jupiter, which symbolizes our “higher beliefs” and “philosophy of life,” we are more willing to “crusade” or “go to bat” for whatever it is that we believe in. We are on a quest for the truth. President Abraham Lincoln, for example, delivered the Gettysburg Address, perhaps the greatest, most inspiring speech in American history, with Mars and Jupiter exactly conjunct in the heavens. (Jupiter also rules political statesmen and public speaking.)

We also seem to have more physical energy at our disposal with this aspect, as expander Jupiter “enlarges” whatever it touches, and linked with energizer Mars, the energy in the body mounts proportionately. Mars-Jupiter could actually be characterized as more of a “manic” influence on the body, mind, and spirit, as our enthusiasm knows no bounds under its spell.

Mars-Jupiter is also associated with competitive sports and athletics, and gives us a great desire to want to excel and break records.  Our competitive spirit is very high with this energy. (Mars rules sports, exercise.)

A common pitfall to this aspect, though: we can go overboard, become too manic or driven, and end up plum wearing ourselves out physically, thereby, potentially injuring ourselves or weakening our body’s immune system.  So it is very important to temper and or restrain our actions, with this influence, and get proper rest and nutrition.

Mars placement in “forward-thinking” Sagittarius focuses our attention on the future.  It is visionary. We are thinking more about the long-term affects of our actions. We want to tender a lasting impact on the world, initiate disciples to follow our gospel. No surprise here that Sagittarius is also the sign associated with organized religion.

Of course, this Mars in Sag desire to tangibly shape the future is magnified that much more now with Mars’ alignment with preacher-teacher Jupiter, the natural ruler of Sagittarius. Jupiter, too, is tucked away in dreamy Pisces, which on the shadow side can be more “delusional” and “pie in the sky” Pollyanna.  Jupiter in Pisces doesn’t particularly care to break down and analyze its movements. Preferring instead, to operate “mainly on faith.”

Jupiter, too, although generally regarded as a benefic planet with seemingly positive impact for our lives, on the shadow side, it can make us a little too “full of ourselves,” if not outright arrogant, self-righteous, and extremist. Merged with manic Mars, we can very easily and fanatically ride roughshod over others’ beliefs or principles, feeling that we are justified in doing so, because we are only following “higher directives,” whatever that may mean. This smugness and perceived monopoly on the truth, of course, can end up being very dangerous, if allowed to run unchecked.

On a collective level now, too, we may want to pay closer attention to the world news, with this Mars-Jupiter “crusader’ influence as a galvanizing backdrop. We already have a volatile situation in North Korea where the rogue leader of that country appears to be pushing his own agenda, no matter the cost to the rest of the world. Mars rules war, so we must be careful now that Jupiter doesn’t stoke that flame.

Also, WikiLeaks founder is reportedly going to release hundreds of thousands of classified documents that U.S. officials are saying could endanger countless lives, pose security problems, and embarrass the U.S. and its allies.  Apparently, he is doing this to unveil “the truth,” regardless of the consequences. Sounding all very Mars-Jupiter to me, and if I may say, very fanatical. Sagittarius is also the sign of publishing.

Additionally, copious Jupiter in Pisces could denote information that is classified or hidden, as Pisces signifies what is submerged. Warrior Mars here aggressively bringing all this info to the surface. Too, Mars, as mentioned earlier, rules war and conflict, and reportedly much of this information to be released by Wikileaks pertains to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Jupiter symbolically “blabbing it away.”

Perhaps, in an effort to express the very best of this Mars-Jupiter aspect, it would probably be prudent for all of us to consciously try to detach or disengage ourselves from our personal agendas for a bit.  Get down off our soapbox long enough to see if the message or litany that we feel compelled to promote now is something that is really for the “greater good of all,” versus something that is really only feeding or glorifying our ego.  If we realize that it is more of the latter, then we may want to keep a lid on it and do something instead that will truly help lift others up, which is something that Mars-Jupiter energy is also excellent for. We need to keep in mind, too, what Abraham Lincoln did with this very same kind of energy.

At its most noble expression, this planetary energy is best used to perform charitable work and “random acts of kindness.” Mars-Neptune also gives a tendency to sublimate our physical desires (Mars rule sex).

One pitfall with Mars-Neptune is the need to guard against self-delusion. Specifically here: Seeing ourselves as a “savior” to others, which can have dangerous ramifications for our egos and also for the people “we are saving.” Or, another manifestation of this energy: We can encounter someone wanting to assume the “savior role” in our lives. (In my household, my little shihtzu seems to want to naturally wear this hat.)

Historically, whenever the more “destabilizing” or “delusional” side of Neptune’s ray is activated, we often see more in the way of what could be described as “religious fanaticism” or “extremist views”  manifesting, as Neptune has to do with spirituality and or the desire to merge with the divine or non-physical aspects of reality.

Too, there is always the risk, with any of our religious convictions, I guess, that they may periodically sprout on the more “bizarre side.” We simply get “too carried away” and lose sight of the more practical considerations of the “real world.” Or, for that matter, we simply don’t care what happens, we’re so “mesmerized” by our beliefs.  Plus, we feel we have license, “from above,” to do whatever we want.

This “extremism” also seems to be the case,  at least, with that pastor in Florida, of a tiny congregation, who was calling for the “burning of Korans” on September 11th. He has since canceled the event, in the face of heavy opposition, including pressure from the White House to call it off.

Mars is the “planet of war,” and with “Mars-Neptune” activated, we can feel galvanized to take aggressive action on our religious views. There’s certainly nothing wrong with standing up for one’s beliefs. What is often distressing and offensive, however, is the amount of intolerance that often seems to go “hand-in-hand” with the taking of these kinds of individual stands. Of course, it does not have to be this way, either. We can always choose to be tolerant.

Too, what makes this Mars-Neptune energy even more potent now, is the intense Jupiter and Uranus conjunction in Spiritual Pisces (which is also part of the ongoing T-Square with controlling Pluto and ambitious Saturn). Expansive Jupiter (which co-rules Pisces with Neptune) intrinsically tends to make us want to evangelize or convert others to our way of thinking anyway, and paired with loose cannon, rebel Uranus, who often wants to be a “law unto himself,” we can easily go overboard with carrying out our agendas. This would definitely be the “shadow-side” of Jupiter-Uranus.

Also, it’s just interesting how religion is dominating the headlines now, with all this stuff going on above us, isn’t it? It has also, predictably, even made it to the late night shows with comedians.

One other thing worth noting  here: John Lennon made his famous “off-the-cuff” comment about the Beatles being “more popular than Jesus,” when Mars was square Neptune.  That remark, which John later said was also ‘misconstrued,’ also set off a firestorm of criticism and led to some people, particularly in the southern United States, burning Beatles’ albums in the 60s, as well as radio stations banning their music. (So we see with John’s remark “about a savior,” there was somewhat of a variation on the Mars-Neptune energy that I described above. Too, maybe John was being delusional, thinking the Beatles were more popular than Jesus. Although, maybe at the time, he was just simply telling the truth as he saw it, as the Beatles were really popular.  He claimed afterwards that he never meant any offense to anyone’s religious views, and I believe him. I also mentioned in my blog yesterday that John Lennon had Mars conjunct Neptune, in his natal horoscope, so he did maybe see himself “as a savior” in many ways. And, in some ways, to many people, perhaps John “was a savior.”)

“Live your beliefs and you can turn the world around.” Henry David Thoreau

My crystal ball is showing a big day ahead!

I see invigorating, fiery energy descending upon us, beginning with the Moon’s glide into philosophical, inquiring Sagittarius (at 7:16 am EDT).  This ingress positions us for a Full Moon adventure here later in the day (at 7:08 pm EDT).

With the Full Moon in archer Sagittarius, we focus our attention on our beliefs and convictions.  This is an ideal time to ask ourselves what it is that we really believe in and stand for. Do we even know?

Also, how are we faring in terms of our ability to freely express our beliefs and views in the world? Are we able to confidently share with others our opinions or viewpoints, or do we instead retreat from doing so out of fear of rejection or ridicule?

Living authentically from our own point of truth is the greatest gift that we can give to both ourselves and the world.  That is why I love the Thoreau quote above. When we live our beliefs,  that is how we are able to turn our world around.

And, the world around us will begin to change in bold and daring ways with the entrance of liberating, revolutionizing Uranus into pioneering Aries, the first sign of the zodiac (at 9:50 pm EDT).

Aries depicts new beginnings, particularly new personal beginnings.  Aries is also the sign of our self-image. Uranus’s movement into Aries gives us a chance to free up how we think and feel about ourselves.

That freeing up, as we all know, can be a lengthy process.  That is why Uranus will be in Aries for 7 years (although it will retrograde back into Pisces later this summer for a while before it firmly establishes here early 2011). Enough time for a full revolution, don’t you think?

Enjoy your day! Be proud of who you are. You’re beautiful and unique.
