Cosmic Weather:

“There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.” Beverly Sills

The Waxing Moon wraps up her hectic stay in Aries, late tonight. But well before she does that, she will square forceful Pluto in dutiful Capricorn (1:32 pm), an alignment that tends to more fully enlist our passions, as well as endow us with a greater sense of urgency of what needs to be done. On the plus side, this is potentially excellent energy for giving a final push to something. On the shadow side, it can sometimes correlate with sudden power grabs/compulsively acting out our emotions. Fortunately, Luna will sextile the detached Aquarian Sun, early this evening (7:17 pm), which is also likely a chance for us to hit the equilibrium reset button if need be. Ideally, this is also a very nice, supportive aspect for fostering a lively synergy with others. The Aries Moon will go void, after this sextile, entering calming, earthy Taurus at 10:12 pm.

On This Day in History: On February 16, 1923, archaeologist Howard Carter opens the inner burial chamber of Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamun’s tomb and finds the sarcophagus.

Astrologically, that day, energetic Mars was in trailblazing Aries, at 18 degrees, and exactly quincunx to royalty-ruling Jupiter, at 18 degrees of Scorpio, the zodiacal sign of life, death, and rebirth.

Enjoy your Tuesday. Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Cosmic Weather:

“It will never rain roses: when we want to have more roses, we must plant more roses.” George Eliot

Luna kicks off our Monday in restless, enterprising Aries, perhaps inspiring us to take swift action on matters that (ideally) net immediate results. The Aries Moon is typically best for attending to short-term projects. With Luna also entering her Waxing Crescent Phase, mid-morning (10:40 am), the path toward illumination is really just beginning to build, so this is not the best time for massive leaps forward but rather for focusing on taking smaller action steps that can help to foster more faith and positivity in our capabilities over time. (Too, Mercury is still retrograde!)

There’s also an opportunity for empowering collaboration or networking with others on shared goals/shared purposes as the energetic Aries Moon forms several sextiles to a stellium of planets in collective-ruling Aquarius, including harmonizing Venus, which is also trining the futuristic North Node in Gemini (12:09 am). Too, it’s possible with the Venus-North Node alignment that certain people could appear on our path today who are very pivotal/instrumental to our future.

*All times EST.

On This Day in History: On February 15, 2005, “YouTube” the online video-sharing platform is launched in the United States. It was created by three individuals working at Paypal (Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawad Karim). The company’s original (more humble) headquarters was above a pizzeria and Japanese restaurant in San Mateo, California. In November of 2006, Google bought YouTube for a reported 1.6 billion dollars. Presently, it is estimated that nearly 5 billion videos are watched daily on the site. (Wikipedia)

Astrologically, when YouTube launched, artistic Venus and imaginative Neptune were exactly conjunct in tech-ruling, digitally-minded Aquarius (at 15 degrees), potentially boding well for brand new creative endeavors. (Neptune also governs films, visual images, and videos.) Enterprising Mars was also in entrepreneurial Capricorn and exactly sextile to Uranus in Pisces, an aspect favoring new approaches or innovative strategies.

Enjoy your Monday. Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.

Astrology February 14, 2021: Mercury Rx Conjuncts Jupiter

Aretha Franklin records Respect, big-picture thinking, daily astrology, love, Mercury conjunct Jupiter, numerology, relationships

Cosmic Weather:

“Science does a great job at reducing variables until they are small enough to be understood, but we aren’t doing a great job at reassembling the picture once it has been broken down into a thousand pieces.” – Katy Bowman

Mercury Rx conjuncts Jupiter in Aquarius (4:40 pm). There’s more of a flair or capacity for big-picture thinking, generating innovative ideas, or stretching our perspectives now (even if some things might need to be revised later). Mercury/Jupiter typically represents the “glass is half full” mindset, which can actually help to shift things around for us in a positive way by harnessing the brain’s power of expectation.

The Waxing Moon also rockets into “start-me-up” Aries (10:54 am). We are naturally primed now for new beginnings and endeavors that require self-assertion or taking personal initiative.

Numerologically, it’s a “5” and “3” day, suggesting there’s a plethora of curiosity and creativity circulating around. Also, an element of playfulness.

*All times EST

On This Day in History: On February 14, 1967, Aretha Franklin recorded “Respect” (Billboard Song of the Year 1967).

“Respect” is a song originally released by American singer-songwriter Otis Redding in 1965. The song became a signature hit for Aretha Franklin in 1967. The music in the two versions is significantly different. Redding’s version is a plea from a desperate man, who will give his woman anything she wants. He won’t care if she does him wrong, as long as he gets his due respect when he brings money home. However, Franklin’s version is a declaration from a strong, confident woman, who knows that she has everything her man wants. She never does him wrong, and demands his “respect”. Franklin’s version adds the “R-E-S-P-E-C-T” chorus and the backup singers’ refrain of “Sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me…”. Aretha Franklin’s interpretation was a landmark for the feminist movement and is often considered one of the best songs of the R&B era. (Wikipedia)

Astrologically, when Franklin recorded “Respect” on 2/14/67, romantic Venus, in dreamy Pisces, was exactly opposing transformational Pluto in corrective Virgo. Venus-Pluto oppositions can often intensify our feelings and emotions in our relationships as well as spotlight any imbalances of power within this realm.  We may also feel a real need to “clear the air,” at this time, in a bid to get our love life back on track.

Happy Valentine’s Day! Hope it’s a good one! Please be safe and well.
