Cosmic Weather:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.” Marianne Williamson

Waning Luna, in strategic Scorpio, is still holed up in her Gibbous phase dugout and throwing a “square-ball” to utilitarian Saturn in detached Aquarius (11:53 am). The atmosphere may feel a little tense now as both of these cosmic players are going at each other in fixed signs. That said, this may be a good time to take stock of our resources, including eliminating any redundancies or deadweight. We also may choose now to stick with what we know has worked for us in the past as well as collaborate closely with those who have already managed to earn our respect and trust. As the day progresses, flowing lunar aspects to relationship Venus (4:55 pm), assertive Mars (5:58 pm), and imaginative Neptune (7:00 pm) help to create more of a renewing sense of rich possibilities around us. “It’s the possibility that keeps me going, not the guarantee.” – Nicholas Sparks.

Numerologically, the fact that it’s “2-22-2022” is also all the buzz today – this Twosday – with Tuesday also being the 2nd day of the week! The “number 22” is considered to be a Master Number and represents the Master Builder/Master Architect. It’s the number that is said to bring grand visions to life in the material world. The Chinese people also view the “number two” as very auspicious, believing good things come in pairs. With that said, today we may want to consider setting an intention (or maybe two intentions!) for ourselves around something that is more meaningful or consequential to us. Something that perhaps feels very much a part of our own special destiny. Author J.K. Rowling once quipped that destiny “is a name often given in retrospect to choices that had dramatic consequences.”

Born On This Day: George Washington, in 1732, an American soldier, statesman, and Founding Father who served as the first president of the United States from 1789 to 1797. Although several universities and other educational institutions bear his name, Washington did not attend college. He is the only major Founding Father without a college education. George Washington once stated: “Perseverance and spirit have done wonders in all ages.”

Hope “Twosday” is a good one for you! Please be safe and well.

Cosmic Weather:

“One of the things that we admire about porcelain is its delicate fragility. We should learn to appreciate the same in people.” Andrew Davenport

With so much uncertainty and disruption presently swirling around us, it’s pretty easy to become emotionally overwhelmed or to feel a bit more anxious, in general, about our daily lives. That’s why it’s also perhaps more important than ever to treat ourselves and others with special kid gloves now, if we can, which is what the more “humanistic” Mars-Neptune energy, today, ideally helps us to achieve.

This more “ego-subduing” influence generally raises our levels of sensitivity, caring, and compassion. It can also serve to remind us that, no matter what, “we’re all in this together,” (Neptune in Pisces) – even though we may also have to (ironically) erect some boundaries between ourselves and others temporarily now (Mars in Capricorn), so as to keep those bonds intact in the future.

Mars-Neptune energy often marks a time when we’re called upon to make personal sacrifices for the welfare of others or the collective.

This more “otherworldly” aspect can also be positive for such things as self-reflection, meditation, yoga, or breathwork.

Too, the “permeable” Pisces Sun’s sextile to “controlling” Pluto, in structuring Capricorn, once again, seems to be spotlighting for us now, among other things, an ever-growing awareness or consensus of the need to take more extreme measures to contain the spread of Covid-19 (Pisces rules viruses) and how these overtures are dramatically working to reshape (Pluto) our world, at least in the short-term.

On the plus side, it’s also an excellent planetary influence for retooling the approaches that we take for dealing with issues as it can provide us with greater clarity or insight.

Also, expansive Jupiter’s applying conjunction to Pluto continues to showcase the enormous volume of resources and actions that are being marshaled by many governments and businesses (Capricorn) and other entities, such as hospitals (Pisces) to deal with all the ramifications of this generational health crisis.

On a a more personal level, Sun-Pluto energy can mark a time of profound inner renewal. It’s also a great day for any purging, recycling, or refurbishing projects.

“We can’t be afraid of change. You may feel very secure in the pond that you are in, but if you never venture out of it, you will never know that there is such a thing as an ocean, a sea. Holding onto something that is good for you now, may be the very reason why you don’t have something better.” C. Joybell C.

Hope it’s a good one! Be safe!

COSMIC WEATHER:

The waning Moon remains in “probing” Scorpio until mid-morning (10:50 am), when it shifts into enthusiastic, “adventurous” Sagittarius, a lunar placement that naturally poises us for more outward action and risk-taking. While the Moon is “void-of-course” in Scorpio, we may want to concentrate our energy on finishing up old projects or tasks. Then, when it enters Sadge, we can embark upon new activities.

While the Moon is devoid of major aspects today. a highly noteworthy sextile from “initiating” Mars in Scorpio to “transforming” Pluto in Capricorn, which is exact tomorrow morning, is already beginning to exert its influence. Even though this is a short-term aspect, lasting only a few days, it can, on occasion, alter the landscape of our lives in rather profound or remarkable ways. Too, this may particularly be the case now because motivator Mars is very, very strong in Scorpio, a sign that it co-rules with Pluto. Also, we may feel a heightened sense of our own destiny now, or what it is that we were put on this earth to do.

Astrology September 25, 2015: Pluto Stations Direct

“Be not the slave of your own past – plunge into the sublime seas, dive deep, and swim far, so you shall come back with new self-respect, with new power, and with an advanced experience that shall explain and overlook the old.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

Animal, Aquatic, Brown, Eye, Eyes, Face

Today’s Energy:

With “perceptive” Pluto stationing direct today in “self-mastering” Capricorn, we are slowly but surely beginning to emerge from a visitation of our inner caverns, so to speak, with Pluto symbolically representing the subconscious realm of our being. During Pluto’s five-month retrograde period, hopefully we had a chance to duly reflect upon, among other things, some of our deeper motivations, our stronger desires or passions, our personal sense of power in the world, as well as our longing for renewal or rebirth.

Also, the outline or sketch of the personal path that we hope to embark upon – in the days and weeks ahead – in order that we may live with greater integrity with our true self, is also possibly starting to appear before us now with sharper clarity or resolution. Pluto is thought to correspond specifically with our sense of “individual destiny” or “mission in life,” which we may very well be feeling more of now.

On a collective level, Pluto stationing direct can also be a time when we witness major power shifts, or see a redistribution of power or influence. We may also see the ability of certain events or people to powerfully shape or capture the emotions of the masses, which Pluto rules.

“initiating” Mars, newly-installed in “perfecting” Virgo, late yesterday, is also squaring “restrictive” Saturn tonight (9:12 pm EDT), in “philosophical” Sagittarius, suggesting that we may have to temporarily deal with delays or impasses with some of our plans now. Mars-Saturn energy is often linked with endings, or having to possibly bow out of projects, especially those with which our ego is highly identified with, including perhaps finally seeing “the writing on the wall” about something.

At the very least, there is a more serious tenor to this Mars-Saturn energy, as well as a deeper awareness of the finite nature of our lives, along with the realization that we must not waste our allotted time on the planet, with Saturn governing time and mortality. The Greek philosopher Diogenes Laertius once said, “Time is the most valuable thing that a man can spend.”

Questions for Today: Who are you becoming? What issues have been coming up for you lately? What do you believe is your special destiny?

“God uses broken things. It takes broken soil to produce a crop, broken clouds to give rain, broken grain to give bread, broken bread to give strength. It is the broken alabaster box that gives forth perfume. It is Peter, weeping bitterly, who returns to greater power than ever.” Vance Havner

COSMIC WATCH:

“Assertive” Mars is conjunct “transforming” Pluto today (3:17 pm EST). This is potentially a very powerful and renewing combination of energy that can significantly strengthen our focus and determination. It can also increase our insight and general awareness into ourselves, including perhaps helping us to understand some of the deeper reasons or hidden motivations behind our behavior. Metaphorically, this aspect can make us feel a little like our (psychological) shackles are finally being removed. Too, this is an ideal period for purge projects. Or, makeovers.

This is also an influence that can serve to connect us with what is seemingly our special destiny or purpose in life. We may feel more of a sense what it is that we came here to do now, along with an urgency to act on that mission.

On the shadow side, our egos may not take too kindly to any sort of perceived restraint or interference from others now. Unfortunately, Mars-Pluto is all too often associated with setting up a more combustible atmosphere in which power struggles tend to ensue. Of course, when we deliberately choose to seek out the common ground between us, we can usually find a way to work together. “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” Helen Keller

Famous Birthdays November 27: Jimi Hendrix, Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg. “I think one of my father’s great legacies is the people that he inspired and the generation that he inspired transformed America through civil rights, women’s rights, equal justice, and they have passed that on to their children and grandchildren.” Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg.

“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot.  In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” Oscar Wilde

The Moon continues in “Mystical” Pisces, the “Mighty Protectorate of the Sea” and the “Safeguard of the Divine Soul.” The “Illuminating” Sun, in “Inquiring” Virgo, forms a harmonious trine to veteran “Secret Keeper” Pluto, who is, uncharacteristically, letting us in on a secret or two. But, we must be nimble and quick to ferret out the hidden goods.

“We’re riding Pluto’s ‘riveting waves of destiny.’ Surfing the re-birthing sea with a deeper awareness of our soul’s purpose and karma.

When we finally connect again with the faithful shore, the sand castles that we will be building there, will surely be far grander then anything we have erected before.

For we have mercifully spied, via the powerful Sun and Pluto hookup, the comforting riches of our majestic soul’s bounty.

And surreptitiously pirated from it, its most glorious treasures, to brilliantly jewel and purposefully direct our days. And masterfully soothe the wounded whisperings of our intimate night terrain.”

“Cosmic Word of The Day”: Equation

Definition: 1) the act of equating or making equal; equalization: the symbolic equation of darkness with death; 2) Mathematics – an expression or a proposition, often algebraic, asserting the equality of two quantities.

Origin: 1350-1400; ME < L aequation – (s. of aequatio) an equalizing

Cosmic Weather: The Moon leaves Bureaucratic Capricorn for High IQ Aquarius (8:53 am EDT).  This boosts our cognitive capabilities and adds potency to the existing Jupiter-Uranus “genius configuration” in spirited Aries.

Also, with Thought-Keeper Mercury stationed now in familial Cancer opposite past life Pluto, this may be an ideal time to ponder Einstein’s alternate “Theory of Relatives.”  Specifically, how our lovable but ever-so-wacky relatives figure into our complicated Karmic Equation.

It could be, too, that we’re finally able to solve the long-standing cosmic riddle regarding which family member keeps leaving the frickin’ cap off the toothpaste tube!

“Since you cannot do good to all, you are to pay special attention to those who, by the accidents of time, or place, or circumstances, are brought into closer connection with you.” Augustine of Hippo

NEWS UPDATE: The New York Times is reporting Federal Agents Arrested 10 people on Sunday on Charges of spying for Russia. If you recall my blog horoscope for yesterday (Sunday) was entitled “Spy Network.” My Cosmic Word for the day was “spy.” I had a hunch some fish were going to be caught with Information Agent Mercury opposite Master Spy Pluto, and I was right!  When you start following Pluto around, you see a habitual pattern of espionage and intrigue.  Pluto rules forces that are hidden. Mercury brings these hidden forces to our attention.

I need a pay raise!

Astrology Beatles: Paul, John Meet Under “Venus Uranus”

1950s, 1960s, 2010, April 25, astrology, astrology signs, Beatles, destiny, Elvis "Loving You" movie debut, Elvis Presley, England, fate, horoscope, John Lennon and Paul McCartney meet for first time, John Lennon horoscope, Leo rules entertainment, Liverpool, love, Mars conjunct in Leo, Mars in Leo, music, Paul McCartney horoscope, Pluto in Leo, rock n roll, Saturn trines, Uranus, venus, Venus conjunct Uranus, Yoko Ono, zodiac

Three days before Elvis Presley’s second movie ‘Loving You’ debuted in theaters, John Lennon and Paul McCartney met for the first time as teenagers on July 6, 1957.  John had formed a group called ‘The Quarrymen’ and was playing with his band at the Woolten Parish Church Garden Fete when the two were introduced.  Later in 1960, the two men would form the group ‘The Beatles.’

Most of us meet new people all the time in the course of our daily lives. In cases when we have an attraction or fascination with someone, astrologers like to look to the aspects of Venus, the relationship planet, that governs love and attraction.

Venus also represents artistic and musical expression, as well as money and possessions. It also pertains to physical beauty.

In the heavens on the very day that John and Paul met, Venus was exactly conjunct the highly individualistic, freedom-loving Uranus. Both planets were in the creative, entertainment sign of Leo.

I put a lot of stock in the cosmic energy that is around us when we meet people in our lives. I think it sheds important clues as to the karma and destiny of the relationship. Of course, it’s best to have the exact moment when two people meet, so you can cast the full horoscope.

Venus-Uranus aspects are often characterized as “love at first sight.” Uranian energy is electrifying, like a sudden bolt of lightning out of the blue.

Uranus also rules inventors and can denote genius.  Uranus’s ray stirs up original, even radical impulses within us.  The Venus-Uranus relationship may be inclined to break with the norm in many ways, as well as challenge convention.

Later, of course, when John and Paul were with the Beatles’ they would revolutionize the world not only with their music but also with their long hair which was so different than the prevailing styles, but it set them apart and probably greatly added to their success as well as uniqueness.

Venus-Uranus can denote striking looks and charismatic appeal.  Elizabeth Taylor, for example, has Venus exactly conjunct Uranus in her birth horoscope.

In addition to Venus conjunct Uranus in Leo, energetic and pioneering Mars was also closely conjoined with both of them, just three degrees away, on July 6, 1957.  All three were harmoniously and powerfully trine to longevity Saturn in Sagittarius, the sign which rules publishing.

Perhaps the rewarding Saturn trines helped them to later achieve worldly success with the publishing and recording of their unique blend of music, as well as adding a lasting quality to their relationship.

Sometimes Venus Uranus relationships do not endure over time, and while John and Paul did have their ups and downs and were separated from each other, the byproducts of their relationship will always endure in terms of their musical legacy.

Saturn also helps us to focus and discipline ourselves and aligned to the three Leo planets they were able to successfully channel their creativity.

So, in recapping the energy of that fateful day, we see that there was grand opportunity for creative expression (exemplified by Venus) and this creativity would ideally be able to embody originality and even elements of genius (Uranus).

There was also the trailblazing Mars energy suggesting a passion for pioneering something new.  The trines to Saturn made it all come together successfully in the world.

The public reaction later to John and Paul, as part of the Beatles, and the music that they wrote could also be characterized as very Venus-Uranus, in that many of us instantly fell in love with them and their songs.

Mars conjunct Venus, too, can be a romantic influence and probably why Paul and John wrote so many love songs.  Plus the influence gave the pair sex appeal and charisma.

The erratic and more volatile Mars Uranus conjunction also perhaps fueled a rebellious streak in their relationship with each other and this was depicted in their music at times as well.  Mars-Uranus also helped to firmly establish them as trend setters in the world.

It’s interesting, too, that when John and Paul met each other, Elvis Presley, whose music played a big role in their lives, also seemed to be at his prime, in terms of his display of raw talent and creativity.  Pluto, the transformer, was importantly at the end of Leo then.

When a planet gets to the end of the sign, I often think it’s very symbolic and represents the highest or fullest expression of the energy of that sign.  Of course, in this case, Leo rules entertainment and self-expression.  Pluto always has a powerfully regenerating affect on us.  It also rules the masses and affects mass consciousness.

With Pluto at the end of Leo, we not only had Elvis transforming the entertainment world with his original stage performances and riveting music, we also had John and Paul coming together for the first time.  John and Paul would later reshape the music industry, as well as personally change many of us forever in the process.  All three introduced us to new levels of creativity and personal self-expression (Leo) through their art that we had not witnessed before and all had a huge impact on the collective (Pluto). They were all legends. What you would expect with Pluto who likes to debut historic firsts. And he saved the very best for the end of Leo.

Astrology: Saturn in Taurus Sets Stage for “First Earth Day”

“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find resources of strength that will endure as long as life lasts.” Rachel Carson.

“Taurus” is the sign of stewardship. Under its influence, we learn how to value and effectively manage our resources.

So it should come as no surprise that on the very first “Earth Day,”  April 22, 1970, transiting Saturn, which also depicts the Earth in astrology, was moving through the sign of Taurus.

Earth Day was originally founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson as a way to inspire awareness and appreciation for the resources of the Earth.

As many of us know, Saturn is traditionally billed as the “Taskmaster,” he teaches us some of our most important lessons in life. Some astrologers equate him to “karma.”

Saturn also shows us where we may have blockages or limitations and where we may be resistant to change.

Saturn itself represents the “principle of conservation.” With Saturn, we often are forced to make do with less, often through hardship or loss.  As a result, we learn not to waste any of the resources at our disposal.

I think Saturn in Taurus finally began to open our eyes to the fact that the Earth’s resources are finite, and that they needed to be better preserved.  We started coming to the conclusion that we had not been managing Earth’s bounty properly. We had been wasteful and self-indulgent.

Also at the time of the first Earth Day, expansive Jupiter, the planet of opportunity, was at 0 degrees of Scorpio, the sign of rebirth, depicting opportunity for a “re-awakening consciousness.”  I think it was very symbolic, too, that it had just entered that sign, spawning fresh awareness.

Scorpio also has to do with management of joint or shared resources, as the opposite sign to Taurus. Very appropriate here for the management of shared resources and Earth Day, this quote by Wendell Barry:

“The earth is what we all have in common.”

What was also very beautiful about the energy of April 22, 1970, Venus, showing what we love and value, was at home in its own sign of Taurus and applying to an exact harmonious trine to transforming Pluto in Virgo.  Pluto is the ruler of regenerating Scorpio and represents the Earth’s inner core, while Virgo governs health and proper nutrition.

It’s as if suddenly that day, with Venus trine Pluto, we had a new, healthy, transforming love affair with Earth, with a desire to make it a better place. We got a renewing glimpse of its value and meaning to all of us. Venus-Pluto is associated with emotionally powerful love affairs that seem to have the added element of “fate” or “destiny” to them.

“There is enough for all. The earth is a generous mother; she will provide in plentiful abundance food for all her children if they will cultivate her soil in justice and in peace.” Bourke Coekran.
