Cosmic Weather:

“Just as a snake sheds its skin, we must shed our past over and over again.” Gautama Buddha

Mental Mercury stations retrograde in Cancer at 14 degrees (at 12:59 am): The winged messenger is now the fifth planet currently retrograde, with the other four being Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto. Generally, retrograde motion signifies a time when we review or reassess the past. Too, with so many planets in apparent backward motion now, it may be harder for us to move forward.

With intellectual Mercury Rx in protective, nesting Cancer, we are likely re-thinking/re-framing issues centering around the home and family (including our ancestral or historic past), safety and security, patriotism/nationalism, and self-care or nurturing. Ideally, Mercury’s Rx cycle will generate deep insights for us, particularly on more of a gut-level. Mercury will remain retrograde until July 12th.

Mars in Pisces sextile Pluto Rx in Capricorn (at 7:08 pm): This can symbolize the arrival or deployment of reforms or strategies or approaches that can help to positively transform or turn our world around. We may also feel more empowered to pursue our dreams or ideals with more intensity.

(The last time we had Mars in Pisces exactly sextile Pluto in Capricorn was December 17th-18th of 2018. Some highlights back then: Elon Musk opened the 1.6km-long Boring Test (Pluto-ruled) Tunnel in Hawthorne, California, which is designed to demonstrate technology that will transport cars at high speeds below the city; Astronomers also announced the discovery of trans-Neptunian object 2018-VG, the most distant object in the Solar System ever observed; The U.S. Department of Justice also issued a final regulation banning the use of bump stocks, which allow semi-automatic (Mars-ruled) rifles to be fired at a rate similar to that of automatic weapons and became infamous following the 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting. – From Wikipedia)

Born On This Day: Beatle Paul McCartney. He’s turning 78!

“I am the eternal optimist. No
matter how rough it gets, there’s always light somewhere. The rest of the sky may be cloudy, but that little bit of blue draws me on.” P.M.

Hope it’s a good one! Be safe and well.

“The field of consciousness is tiny. It accepts only one problem at a time.” Antoine De Saint-Exupery

Cosmic Watch: Intellectual Mercury trines disciplined Saturn (4:15 am EDT). Our thinking caps are on today! Mercury-Saturn is an excellent aspect for concentration, planning, budgeting, organization and research. It favors serious discussions and presentations that call for relaying detailed information. Our words are parceled out more sparingly now and we also want to see proof or tangible results before we commit our resources, or sign on the dotted line. Keep in mind, though, that Mercury is still in its retrograde phase until May 3rd, which can mean decisions made now can later be reversed. Still this can be a productive time for conscientiously reviewing matters, cultivating sound judgment, as well as seeking wise counsel from those whose opinions and insights we value and respect. On another level, it may be a positive day to go for, or schedule, a hearing (audiological) test, or be fitted for a hearing aid. Saturn governs our hearing.

“Tell people there’s an invisible man in the sky who created the universe, and the vast majority will believe you. Tell them the paint is wet, and they have to touch it to be sure.” George Carlin 🙂

Mercury trine Saturn Archetypes: The Judge, the Scientist, the Architect

This Date in History: Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger was inaugurated as the 265th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church on April 24, 2005, taking the name Pope Benedict XVI.  In the sky, initiating Mars, in humanistic Aquarius, was exactly sextile to rejuvenating Pluto in philosophical Sagittarius, a sign which rules, among other things, organized religion and our higher beliefs. Mars-Pluto aspects tend to usher in transforming scenarios in our lives, including situations involving changes of power. There can also be a strong feeling or sense that we are experiencing a pivotal “rendezvous with destiny” when these two heavenly bodies intersect.

“Life is a blank canvas, and you need to throw all the paint on it you can.” Danny Kaye

COSMIC WEATHER:

The waning Moon remains in “probing” Scorpio until mid-morning (10:50 am), when it shifts into enthusiastic, “adventurous” Sagittarius, a lunar placement that naturally poises us for more outward action and risk-taking. While the Moon is “void-of-course” in Scorpio, we may want to concentrate our energy on finishing up old projects or tasks. Then, when it enters Sadge, we can embark upon new activities.

While the Moon is devoid of major aspects today. a highly noteworthy sextile from “initiating” Mars in Scorpio to “transforming” Pluto in Capricorn, which is exact tomorrow morning, is already beginning to exert its influence. Even though this is a short-term aspect, lasting only a few days, it can, on occasion, alter the landscape of our lives in rather profound or remarkable ways. Too, this may particularly be the case now because motivator Mars is very, very strong in Scorpio, a sign that it co-rules with Pluto. Also, we may feel a heightened sense of our own destiny now, or what it is that we were put on this earth to do.

Maliki steps down, Mars sextile Pluto, Mercury in Virgo, Paul McCartney at Candlestick Park, Rob Manfred new MLB commissioner, transformation

“I take pleasure in my transformations. I look quiet and consistent, but few know how many women there are in me.” Anais Nin

COSMIC WATCH:

We have all seen dramatic “before” and “after” makeover shots that we marvel over. Today, we have a somewhat comparable offering in the guise of galvanizing Mars sextile rebirthing Pluto. This planetary influence is often paired with what could be described as game-shifting scenarios.

Too, on the eve of this aspect, we have heard about several noteworthy, altering type events in the collective, including Iraq’s Prime Minister Maliki announcing that he was going to step down from his post. Also yesterday, Rob Manfred was chosen as the new Major League Baseball Commissioner, one of the most powerful positions in sports. On a more sentimental note, Sir Paul McCartney entertained patrons with a concert at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, likely the last major event to be held at the 50-year-old stadium, which has been earmarked for demolition (Pluto). The Beatles also performed their last concert together in the U.S. at Candlestick, back in 1966, so it was a bit of deja vu for Paul.

Pluto’s ray is often associated with events that affect the masses. It is also linked with power and control issues. Too, sometimes what has been hidden is finally exposed or brought to light. Additionally, I would like to interject here that, often while transformational situations are occurring, we will not really know their full impact, until much later. For instance, under this Mars-Pluto influence, we could possibly meet someone who will later turn out to play a pivotal role in our lives, even though, in the present moment, we have no clue about this.

Also, the Moon has been in “pioneering” Aries, the last couple days, a fire sign that normally adds more momentum to our affairs, as it fuels our desire to take action on what we want. Today, however, Luna shifts into steady, stabilizing Taurus, and we’re more focused on preserving our resources and energy (11:58 am EDT). Intellectual Mercury also leaves proud, creative Leo for practical, analytical Virgo (12:44 pm EDT). This sign change should help to boost our problem-solving skills. Mercury remains in Virgo until September 1st.

Some celebrities with Mars-Pluto aspects in their birthcharts: Steve Jobs, Billy Idol, Paul McCartney, Oprah Winfrey, Farrah Fawcett, Kirstie Alley.

Today’s Question: If you had a magic wand at your disposal to use today, what would be the very first thing that you would do with it?

“To conquer frustration, one must remain intensely focused on the outcome, not the obstacles.” T.F. Hodge

COSMIC WATCH:

It’s possible that we may be able to make some major strides or advances today, particularly if we focus our energies. Enterprising Mars is sextile intense Pluto. This influence is excellent for strategizing, detective work, sizing up situations, trouble-shooting. What may have been problematic for us before may now be able to be positively resolved, or at least settled more to our liking. This is also a great time to eliminate or purge what is no longer needed, or viable.

The Moon’s entrance into practical, earthy Taurus (5:08 am EST) also brings material or security issues to the forefront. “Money often costs too much.” Ralph Waldo Emerson.

COSMIC WATCH:

“To know when to go away and when to come closer is the key to any lasting relationship.” Domenico Cieri Estrada

Sometimes we need to pull back from others. Maybe to reset a boundary that has gotten blurred. Or to simply reconnect with our center to examine how our relationships are reflecting what is in our heart. Today’s Venus square Saturn aspect can help to provide us with the distance that we may temporarily need so that we can once again discern or identify our true desires. Or it could be that this influence helps to provide a sacred space for us to seriously ponder our commitments.  Often, too, when we have the courage to let go of whatever it is that we desire, we find that what we really need has a way of effortlessly flowing into our lives.

Energetic Mars is also sextile to perceptive Pluto. This potent influence can additionally help to re-align us with our own light so that we are better able to stand upright in our own truth. This can also be a very transformational aspect that can positively reconfigure or reshape elements in our environment. Doors that were closed to us before, may suddenly open now. “I feel very adventurous. There are so many doors to be opened, and I’m not afraid to look behind them.” Elizabeth Taylor

COSMIC WEATHER:

“Wisdom and penetration are the fruit of experience, not the lessons of retirement and leisure. Great necessities call out great virtues.” Abigail Adams

The energizing Mars sextile aspect to penetrating Pluto (9:48 pm EST) makes this an effective day to get to the “heart of any matter.” Mars supplies us with drive and desire and passionate Pluto imbues us with deep focus and core insight, even X-ray vision. Pluto, of course, rules the subconscious and represents what is submerged or hidden.

Also a big assist here is mental Mercury’s resourceful quintile alignment with probing Pluto which further helps us to figure out mysteries and decode cryptic patterns. Potentially a day of major breakthroughs, if we are willing to dig deep enough. Our words (Mercury) may also have more potent impact (Pluto) today. We may additionally become privy to secret information (Pluto).

With Pluto’s regenerative ray so prominent now, today is also auspicious for overhauls or makeover projects.  Too, a great time to go antiquing or treasure-hunting. Purging and letting go what we no longer need is very desirable. We do need to keep in mind, as well, that opportunistic Jupiter, is still square to purging Pluto, so today’s Mars-Pluto energy can be a big boost for positively changing or altering the landscape around us.

Since Pluto additionally pertains to other people’s resources, we are encouraged now to merge our energies with others (Mars-Pluto) to realize common goals and interests. The Moon is also still in group-oriented Aquarius, and then shifts to compassionate Pisces (11:48 am EST) setting the stage for Friday’s New Moon.

Famous Birthdays March 3rd: Herschel Walker (49), late James Doohan (Scotty from Star Trek) would have been 91, late Alexander Graham Bell (164)

“If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself, then make a change.” Michael Jackson

COSMIC WEATHER:

A rare convergence of potent, transforming energies engulfs us now. “Visionary” Jupiter exactly conjoins Uranus, the planet of “Sudden Breakthrough Awareness.” This conjunction is occurring in Compassionate Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac, associated with Idealism and wanting to forge a “link with the Divine.”

(Interesting, too, with this more potentially “spiritually-illuminating” aspect, we have Pope Benedict in the UK now, attempting to perhaps “revitalize and inject new interest” (Uranus) in the Church’s teachings there. Fascinatingly, the Pope also has this very same “Jupiter-Uranus conjunction” falling exactly on his “Mental” Mercury in Pisces now, in his personal horoscope, so potentially, it’s a very “consciousness-raising” time for him, as well.  A period when he is much more inclined to gravitate towards accepting and implementing “new ideas, new approaches,” especially in matters pertaining to his faith (Pisces).  He may also be articulating his beliefs and views in far different ways than he has ever done in the past. Uranus often makes us “break with the past” and even take “radical stands” in wake of “an epiphany of new understanding.” That is how Uranus works.  It delivers “sudden” new insights. This “Jupiter-Uranus conjunction to his Mercury” is also occurring in the Pope’s first house of “new beginnings” having a direct impact on his personality and outlook on life.”)

Simultaneously, with this “enlightening” Jupiter-Uranus aspect, we have “Activator” Mars in “Regenerating, Healing” Scorpio throwing a Spellbinding Sextile to Scorpio’s Mysterious co-ruler, Pluto, which represents all that is “hidden from view.”  Mars is symbolically engaging Pluto to “show its hand.” Reveal the cards that its playing. That may also be the case with us now: We may want to “come clean,” so to speak. Spill our contents. Empty or purge ourselves of “emotional baggage” that we have been carrying around, for far too long, that has been weighing us down and making us immobile.  It’s a perfect time to compassionately “engage the person we see before us in the mirror” and ask him or her, “Are you ready to make a change? Are you ready to put down those bags and walk away and begin a new life?” Surrendering the past is never easy, but it’s also important to note that “letting go” is a “natural process that affords us the chance for “new experiences,” “new growth” in the future.

Also, the Moon’s entrance today into “Futuristic Aquarius” (3:35 am EDT) also serves as an ally here to help us “close the door on the past” and “open up a new door” to hopefully a happier, “freer” way of being because we have released what we no longer need. We now have more room for “new wine” in our vessels.

Personally, I am working in my “neglected” yard today. Raking up the dead (Scorpio) leaves. Picking up acorns. Getting the lawn ready to be “aerated” and “seeded with new life” tomorrow. A very “Mars-Pluto” transformational activity.

In the News: The mother of the late Michael Jackson, Katherine Jackson, reportedly sued AEG Live on Wednesday, the entertainment company that was behind the “comeback concert series” Michael was planning at the time of his death. According to reports, the lawsuit claims, among other things, that AEG Live “didn’t provide the proper medical care” for her son.

Mrs. Jackson filed the suit just as “Warrior” Mars entered the Intense, Probing sign of Scorpio, which governs death and estate matters. “Aggressor”  Mars was also forming a powerful conjunction to “Veiled” Neptune in Scorpio, in Michael’s personal horoscope. Additionally, Mars was sextiling Michael’s natal Pluto in Virgo, the sign that rules health. Mars-Pluto is a pivotal “investigative” aspect, also a major “healing influence,” which can shed “transformational light” on things. Mars-Pluto can also simply symbolize “new” or “intensified interest” (Mars) in matters pertaining “to death” (Pluto).

Too, with “Mars-Neptune,” there can be a “lifting of the veil,” a “piercing (Mars) through the illusion (Neptune),” “a levied attack (Mars) against confusion (Neptune).” And, of course, Mrs. Jackson, is also, no doubt, continuing to want resolution and healing for herself and her family from the destabilizing “Neptunian agony” of Michael’s death under “unclear circumstances.” The family has been through so much sorrow here. Also, she is certainly seeking “justice” for Michael, with her lawsuit. So we see the “Mars-Neptune” conjunction in Michael’s chart, this week, in death-ruling Scorpio, has served to aggressively (Mars) re-open the matter of the “strange situational elements” (Neptune) surrounding his death (Scorpio).  (Neptune also rules drugs.)

Michael died under the transiting “Jupiter and Neptune” conjunction in Aquarius, which, on the shadow side, can create an abundance (Jupiter) of confusion, illusion, and deception. This is because Jupiter “magnifies” everything it touches and conjoined with “subterfuge” Neptune, it can create situations that are hard to navigate or “see clearly through,” as Neptune ‘s ray “fogs everything up.”

“It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves.” Edmund Hillary

COSMIC WEATHER:

The “Utilitarian” Capricorn Moon continues for one more day, throwing a harmonious trine to the Analytical Virgo Sun (5:19 pm EDT). Very positive energy for “sizing up” situations, “evaluating resources,” and for “formulating effective strategies.”  “Assertive” Mars in “Perceptive” Scorpio also is a big assist here, especially with its applying sextile to Pluto which is very transformational and healing. Excellent for any renovation or makeover type projects. Also for attending to insurance, estate, and tax matters (all “Scorpio-ruled” areas).

Additionally, we have Expansive Jupiter closing in on an exact conjunction (Saturday) with Innovator Uranus in Psychic Pisces which can give us sudden, brilliant insights “out of the blue.”  Uranus is associated with “genius.”

“Common sense is genius dressed in its working clothes.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

In the news:

With the “All Business” Capricorn Moon and Pluto, now direct again in Capricorn (the sign which rules government), the Senate, on Thursday, finally passed a “small business aid-bill” that had been held up for months by Republican opposition. The aid is slated to include tax breaks for business and also make business credit more available, hopefully triggering job creation and elevating the stagnant economy. Energizer Mars recent entrance into Scorpio (the sign that deals with taxes and credit) and its favorable sextile to “regenerating” Pluto was also, no doubt, a positive catalyst here in bringing about “sudden movement” on this matter.

The Senate passage, by a 68 to 31 vote, with two Republicans joining the Democratic majority, means that the legislation will go back to the House, which earlier passed a similar measure and is expected to give the nod to the Senate version next week.
