Mercury in Capricorn trines Uranus in Taurus (4:37 pm): This suggests more of a willingness to embrace or entertain new ideas, or to look at things from different perspectives – especially if we sense that by doing so we will likely be gaining some kind of practical or material advantage that may make our lives function more smoothly.

Additionally, this aspect can also help to speed up our mental processes and facilitate intuition.

Astrologically, that day, the empowering Sun was applying to an exact conjunction with innovative Uranus (the planet governing aviation) in the futuristic travel sign of Sagittarius. Sun-Uranus days can often be big game-changers for us, setting us on a whole new course; our tolerance for risk is usually much higher than as well as our need for experimentation. Delicately sandwiched between yesterday’s high-voltage Mars-Uranus opposition and tomorrow’s potent Lunar Eclipse in Taurus is today’s subtle, flowing trine from probing Mercury in Scorpio to fantasy-weaving Neptune Retrograde in Pisces (10:38 am). Ideally, this affords us a chance to catch our breath, a bit, and immerse ourselves in the gentle, rejuvenating waters of our imagination and intuition. There’s a Full Moon in transformational Scorpio, this morning (at 6:45 am). It’s also the last Supermoon of 2020 (the other two were in March and April). Meaning that it’s occurring at the closest point to Earth during its orbit, making it appear larger and brighter.

Today’s Full Moon is also referred to in the Old Farmer’s Almanac as the “Full Flower Moon,” a name that originated with the Native Americans. Obviously echoing Mother Nature’s return to abundance in the Northern hemisphere when so much is abloom and full of life.

With today’s lunation, we are basically seeking to balance our need for physical comfort, safety, and security (Sun in Taurus) with an opposing desire for fulfillment or renewal in the spiritual/non-physical/inner realm (Moon in Scorpio). Whenever Luna is deposited in Pluto-ruled Scorpio (the sign of life, death, and rebirth), we are made more keenly aware of the profound mysteries of our existence, with Scorpio intently focusing on what’s hidden or below the surface.

So having a powerful, revelatory Full Moon occurring in Scorpio now we potentially have, among other things, a very potent opportunity for ferreting out the truth, as we know it or understand it. Especially since this Full Moon is forming an opposition to information-minded Mercury, which only three days ago formed an exact superior conjunction with the Sun. Normally a time (again) when we are presented with clear data or findings or experience sudden epiphanies. It could also be that today’s Full Moon opposition to that same Mercury-Sun meetup point takes those discoveries or results, one step further. Too, generally with a culminating Full Moon, we can have abrupt endings or receive final outcomes or are able to come to some pretty accurate conclusions or assessments about various elements of our lives, including possibly getting a good handle now on how we are coming along with the intentions that we may have set, or the actions that were taken, during the New Moon in Taurus, two weeks ago. 

Additionally, the Full Moon in passionate Scorpio may find our emotions at peak intensity, especially since Scorpio is a fixed water sign which tends to always feel things very deeply. There can also be more of an emphasis now on such issues as intimacy and trust, shared resources, and purging or refurbishing.

Also today, mental Mercury, in pragmatic Taurus, is forming a sextile to mystical Neptune in Pisces. This more subtle influence may help to bring our dreams into sharper focus. It can also supply us with a greater ability to express on an intellectual level what we are sensing more intuitively. Accordingly, today might also be a fun time to throw a few Tarot cards and see what comes up for us. It’s also an excellent time to investigate our nocturnal dreams. We may be experiencing more vivid dreams than usual now.

Cosmic Weather: 

It’s always so cool when we experience “breakthrough” moments when seemingly, out of nowhere, we get a flash of understanding or the sudden intuition or answer to a problem. Research also shows that sometimes just taking a break or walking away from an issue, for a while, is often a good way for us to clear our mind and suddenly see things in a brand new light. Inventor Thomas Edison once stated that to do much clear thinking “a person must arrange for regular periods of solitude when they can concentrate and indulge the imagination without distraction.”

With the empowering Sun sextiling change-oriented Uranus today (1:45 pm), the planet of innovation, technology, and intuition, we’re potentially in line for receiving/channeling more “lightbulb” moments now, as our intuition and imagination are hopefully stronger. This is also an excellent day to expose ourselves to anything cutting-edge, experimental, or simply out of the realm of our comfort zones.

Too, with the Sun in the home-related sign of Cancer, this may be a very neat time to experiment with changing around/redecorating/refurbishing our living quarters in creative ways, keeping in mind that our personal tastes now could also be a bit of a departure from what we normally like (Uranus in Taurus). This may also be a good time to review or update our finances/investments or to make changes to our budgets.

On another level, we may also be more interested in involving ourselves in progressive and or group causes that we care about (an especially favorable day for promoting women’s issues).

Mercury the messenger in methodical, practical Capricorn the Goat is getting ready to wind up its stay in Capricorn, where it has been since January 5th. But, before it does that, very early tomorrow, it’s going to square Uranus in Aries today (6:13 am). Mercury and Uranus both have an affinity for one another as Uranus is considered to be the higher octave of Mercury. Uranus, as a transpersonal planet, however, is more focused on our abstract or objective perceptions, while Mercury, as one of the personal planets, tends to be more concerned with such things as speaking, communication, and general awareness itself. Uranus also governs technology.

On those days of the year when Mercury and Uranus align, our thinking is potentially more brilliant, more insightful, more original. We may be able to grasp more complex concepts that might have eluded us before. Our perceptions may be lightning-fast, peppered with sudden intuitions. The shadow side of the Mercury-Uranus square is sometimes we may feel more scattered or restless in our thinking and judgment, which can cause us to miss important details. Our nervous systems, which are ruled by Mercury, could potentially also become more highly charged now due to the more electrifying, jolting vibration of Uranus.

Today is also a test drive, of sorts, for Mercury as it will be entering Uranus-ruled Aquarius tomorrow (12:50 am), which is the sign of Mercury’s exaltation. Mercury’s favorite place to hang out!

The Moon is also in fastidious Virgo now so don’t be surprised if you feel a strong, passionate urge to tidy things up! The Moon will also trine Saturn in Capricorn tonight (8:56 pm), a very stabilizing influence that is excellent for organizing our affairs.

COSMIC WEATHER:

The Moon in intense Scorpio today inspires us to seek out more passionate experiences that fully engage our emotions or senses. A flowing trine to “spiritual” Neptune (3:58 pm) also potentially enhances our empathy and psychic sensitivity. Too, an agreeable sextile to “collaborative” Venus (7:08 pm) works to stimulate our social, romantic, or artistic side. This might be a wonderful afternoon or evening for an outing to an art gallery, or to the theater. Or, to be involved in healing projects. The Moon is also in its Last Quarter phase, late tonight (at 10:28 pm). This could generate more of an impetus within us to sort out what’s working and what’s not, in preparation for the upcoming New Moon, next week

Intellectual Mercury is also forming a square to “restless” Uranus, tonight (10:41 pm). This dynamic and inventive energy can open our eyes to alternate ways of looking at issues. It can also trigger sudden inspirations or “light-bulb” moments in which we finally “get something” even if the matter has been explained to us several times before. On the shadow side, Mercury square Uranus can sometimes be a bit disruptive for us mentally. For instance, we are perhaps more apt to blurt out stuff now without really thinking about the consequences of our speech. Still, often embedded in the seeming disruption of a Mercury-Uranus transit is a hidden opportunity for us to get unstuck, as we temporarily feel less wedded to convention, or the “status quo.”

We begin the day with the Moon void-of-course in “sensitive” Cancer. The Moon enters “entertaining” Leo at 6:34 pm.

Mercury in Aquarius sextiles Uranus in Aries at 10:55 am. It opposes Jupiter in Leo at 4:15 pm.

Don’t you just love those days when, what you’ve been struggling to learn or know, all of a sudden “makes a grand appearance” in your life, and you’re no longer left “stumbling in the dark,” so to speak? Intellectual Mercury in creative Leo is forming a 120-degree trine to Uranus in self-expressive Aries (9:27 am EDT). Uranus is considered the higher octave of Mercury and is linked with our more brilliant or genius impulses and also our intuition. Mercury-Uranus tends to quicken our mental activity, in addition to helping to showcase our original perceptions. It can also suddenly ignite our intuition, or the voice of our spirit. Accordingly, today may be an excellent day for brainstorming, trying new approaches to old problems, making discoveries, and for tuning into that “still, small voice within” for wisdom and guidance.
